Young Thug’s Dad Spoke In Support Of Gunna And Said The Rapper ‘Can’t Hurt Us’ In The YSL RICO Case

F*kumean” rapper Gunna’s return to rap hasn’t been smooth sailing. Still, he’s at least managed to land on several top music charts with the release of his latest album, A Gift And A Curse. However, hundreds of hip-hop fans refuse to throw their support behind Gunna due to rumors that he snitched on his Young Stoner Life label head, Young Thug (real name Jeffery Lamar Williams). Given that Young Thug is still behind bars as he fights the YSL RICO case brought up against him, he hasn’t released many public statements.

On the other hand, Young Thug’s dad, Jeffrey Lamar Williams Sr., more affectionally known as Big Jeff, has remained vocal in the press. In an interview with YouTuber Infamous Sylvia, Big Jeff spoke in support of Gunna, shutting down rumors that the rapper is a snitch.

When asked about his thoughts on Gunna, he answered, “I love Gunna.” Shortly after viewers flooded the video’s chat forum to ask for clarity on the claims that Gunna had snitched on his son, he replied, “Let me try to help the attorney clarify that a little simpler. Gunna hasn’t done anything whatsoever that can hurt us on this case, period.”

Further into the interview, Williams Sr. said that he feels Gunna was railroaded and encouraged him to jump back into releasing music to help bring in money for the YSL label. Gunna was charged as a co-defendant in the YSL RICO case, but when offered a plea deal in December, he told it and was released shortly after.

Young Thug’s First Felony Conviction Came From Current YSL Attorney

YSL defense attorney Suri Chadha Jimenez has claimed he gave Young Thug his first-ever felony charge. According to Jimenez, who was speaking on the nuances of the current RICO case, he prosecuted Thug on a weapons charge back in 2014. Jimenez began his career as a prosecutor before going on to set up his own law firm as a defense attorney. Furthermore, Jimenez’s name has popped up throughout the trial as the attorney has gotten something of his own spotlight.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Georgia successfully lobbied for the resumption of the larger YSL trial. Thug and seven other defendants are facing a litany of charges relating to the group’s operations in Atlanta. However, it has been a long and tortured process. Despite the trial starting in January, jury selection is currently ongoing. It is unclear when the trial proper will actually begin. Meanwhile, things were complicated further when Fulton County also indicted Donald Trump and over a dozen associates on charges relating to his interference in the 2020 election.

Gunna Says “Free Thug” At First Concert

Elsewhere in the sprawling YSL trial, Gunna made comments about his YSL peer at his first concert since being released from jail last year. Performing at the Barclay Center last weekend, Gunna opened the show with a large “Free Jeffery” sign lit up. Young Thug’s legal name is Jeffrey Williams Jr. While Gunna released his first post-jail album, A Gift & a Curse, earlier this year, he hadn’t yet performed live. That all changed with an electric concert in front of a sold-out crowd in New York.

While many fans were over the moon to see Gunna return to the stage, not everyone was happy. Gunna is still carrying a lot of stigma over the plea deal he took in the YSL RICO case. Gunna’s December 2022 jail release came after he took a plea deal and acknowledged that YSL was a criminal gang. Furthermore, Gunna’s sentence would be completely terminated after completing community service. This has led many to label Gunna a rat and a coward. These people believe that he sold out Thug and the other members of YSL.

YSL Defendant In Relationship With Arrested Deputy

Last week, a Fulton County deputy was arrested in connection with a plot to help a defendant in the YSL RICO case smuggle contraband in and out of jail. Akeiba Stanley was charged with reckless conduct, violation of oath of office, conspiracy to commit a felony, and hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal. The charges came as a result of an investigation into her conduct with Christian Eppinger, one of the nine individuals still facing trial in the sprawling RICO case.

Reportedly, the pair communicated via Instagram and an illegal cell phone. Furthermore, Stanley had allegedly agreed to help Eppinger with a smuggling operation and is also accused of smuggling contraband from a relative of Eppinger. Additionally, Stanley reportedly made unauthorized visits to Eppinger’s cell. However, new details have painted a deeper picture of the bizarre case.

Stanley And Eppinger Reportedly Engaged In A Romantic Relationship

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Stanley’s warrant paints a much clearer picture of why she was helping Eppinger. Prior to Stanley’s arrest, the laptop of Eppinger’s lawyer was seen and evidence was found that indicated that Eppinger had been using it to illegally communicate with a number of individuals. Deputies deduced that list of contacts included someone in the department. Furthermore, the warrant includes the testimony of an internal investigator who saw Eppinger write a message, smile, and look over at Stanley. A few moments later, Stanley wrote a message on her Apple watch before smiling back at Eppinger.

Additionally, the warrant accuses Stanley of failing to help detain Eppinger after an altercation between him and another deputy. Furthermore, Stanley reportedly began to rub Eppinger’s back after the altercation, saying “look at me, baby.” Stanley had been a Fulton County deputy since October 2022. Previously, she had worked for the Atlanta PD before being fired in July 2018. In the elapsed time, Stanley was placed on a 12-month probation in 2020. This came as a result of a number of complaints made against her during her time in the APD. A hearing to discuss the matter has been scheduled for June 21. Stanley is currently being held on a $1 million bond. Meanwhile, Eppinger faces 15 charges relating to the RICO case, as well as his conduct while detained. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Deputy Arrested On YSL Smuggling Charges Gets $1M Bond

Earlier today, we reported that Akeiba Stanley, a Fulton County deputy, has been arrested on multiple charges in relation to the YSL trial in Georgia. The charges Stanley is facing are reckless conduct, violation of oath of office, conspiracy to commit a felony, and hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal. However, it’s not the only thing that has happened related to the case in the past few days. Earlier this week, officials seized the laptop of Eric Johnson, Eppinger’s attorney. Reportedly, Johnson had been using the laptop to communicate with YSL members not currently in custody.

Furthermore, these charges stem from an alleged collaboration between Stanley and YSL defendant Christian Eppinger. They reportedly communicated via Instagram and an illegal cell phone. Furthermore, Stanley had allegedly agreed to help Eppinger with a smuggling operation and is also accused of smuggling contraband from a relative of Eppinger. Additionally, Stanley reportedly made unauthorized visits to Eppinger’s cell. However, the extent of their relationship is not yet known at this time. It is also not known how long the pair have allegedly been collaborating.

$1M Bond Set For Stanley

“Judge sets $1M bond for former Fulton County deputy accused of communicating w/ YSL defendant,” reported WSB-TV‘s Michael Seiden. Furthermore, Seiden reported that Stanley was being represented by Suri Chadha Jimenez. Additionally, Seiden added that Jimenez had told him that “prosecutors were opposed to giving her a bond, but judge disagreed, explaining that although the charges are serious, she does not have a criminal history and is not a danger to the community.”

The deputy’s arrest is just the latest twist in the increasingly wild YSL trial. 28 original defendants have been whittled down to nine men who still face a variety of charges in the sprawling RICO investigation. Among them is rapper Young Thug, who has personally added to the drama and intrigue of the case. Last month, Thug was hospitalized twice while also refuting audio evidence from a YSL crime scene. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Deputy Accused Of Helping YSL Defendant

The YSL case is only getting weirder. After months of severings, twists, and courtroom confusion, another shocking chapter has just been reported. According to WSB-TV, Akeiba Stanley, a Fulton County deputy, has been arrested on charges of conspiracy and smuggling. According to court records, Stanley has been accused of communicating with Christian Eppinger via Instagram. Eppinger is one of the many defendants in the sprawling YSL case.

Furthermore, Stanley is accused of agreeing to help Eppinger to smuggle contraband while Eppinger remained incarcerated. Additionally, Stanley allegedly snuck items to Eppinger in his cell. The full list of charges that Stanley is facing are reckless conduct, violation of oath of office, conspiracy to commit a felony and hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal. Stanley has reportedly been booked and is now in the jail she once put people into.

The details of Stanley’s arrest are wild, as should be expected from this case. Along with using Instagram to communicate, Stanley is also accused of visiting Eppinger in his cell and further communicating with Eppinger via an illegal cell phone. However, it’s not the only thing that has happened related to the case in the past few days. Earlier this week, officials seized the laptop of Eric Johnson, Eppinger’s attorney. As mentioned, it’s the latest twist in the ever-growing, and slow-moving, YSL trial. Given the numerous legal maneuvers in play, juries have still not been seated. However, the jury selection process began in January and could continue throughout the summer. Rapper Young Thug is just one of 28 original defendants in the large-scale RICO case. Thug remains as one of nine people who are still facing trial. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Gunna Doesn’t Hold Back In His ‘Bread & Butter’ Video, A Direct Response To Those Taking Jabs At Him Over The YSL RICO Case

Gunna has done some light flexing on social media since his release from jail. The musician has even dropped his first track since the YSL RICO trial, titled “Brodies” with German rapper Ufo361. However, in his new solo single, the entertainer has finally responded to his peers that have taken jabs at him post his YSL Rico case.

On “Bread & Butter” (co-produced by Turbo, Omar Grand & Cam Griffin), Gunna leaves no snide comment unaddressed. In the song’s first verse, he touches on how his former rap crew YSL has turned their back on him. Gunna also seemingly takes aim at his former collaborator Lil Baby over his lack of support despite his mentor Pierre “P” Thomas having allegations of cooperating with law enforcement on his name as well.

“Peepin’ sh*t, I’m seein’ n****s fall back / You b*tch-ass n****s got me as the topic of the chat / You switched on me when you know you in business with a rat /And the boy that’s like your brother, and nobody speak on that,” raps Gunna.

Before the track closes out, in the second verse, Gunna speaks on his anger with how his plea arrangement was worked out as he raps: “F*ck I pay the lawyers all those mills for? / Just so I won’t have to say a word to dodge a railroad / N****s find it hard to understand, though / Dog can’t put me down, I been locked down, I don’t know which way to go / Never gave no statement or agreed to take no stand on ’em / On whatever you n****s on, then trust me, I’ma stand on it / Lawyers, and the DA did some sneaky sh*t, I fell for it.”

The official video directed by Leff is entirely in grayscale, metaphorically referring to the space Gunna is finding himself in. According to the rapper, things aren’t as clear-cut as it may seem.

Young Thug Challenges Evidence In RICO Trial

It’s been a wild week in the YSL RICO trial. While the focus was expected to be on Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams, Young Thug was hospitalized twice. The exact cause of Thug’s hospitalization remains unknown. Before that, another defendant was severed from the YSL case after being diagnosed with schizophrenia. Earlier in May, Young Thung’s younger brother was re-arrested after violating the terms of his plea deal.

Finally making it to court, Young Thug sent shockwaves through the case as he and his representatives challenged some crucial evidence in the case. Prosecutors had submitted a recording from a Ring doorbell in connection with a shooting at a house in Atlanta in March 2022. According to police officers, while investigating the shooting, they communicated with someone that they claim is Young Thug. Over a dozen shell casings were recovered from the property, with ten shots reportedly hitting the house.

Young Thug Claims It’s Not Him On The Recording

However, Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel is seeking to ban the record, according to AllHipHop. More specifically, Steel wants the recording ruled inadmissible unless the prosecution has a solid basis for positively identifying the voice as Young Thug. Georgia law is deep and complicated when it comes to the use of audio records in court. While it is generally admitted in court, there could be a valid argument for dismissing the evidence if can’t be proven to be the person in question. However, there is an argument to be made for allowing the evidence to be admitted to disprove it in front of a jury. Given Young Thug’s very distinct voice, that could be the way forward.

It’s a wild twist in a case that keeps providing them. Jury selection has reportedly ongoing. However, the jury is yet to be seated as the pre-trial continues to unfold. Defendants continue to be severed and tried separately. What are your thoughts on the case so far? Let us know in the comments below.

A YSL Co-Defendant Was Given A Separate Trial After A Mental Health Evaluation Prompted By Some Wild Political Claims

A YSL co-defendant was given a separate trial after a mental health evaluation, according to The Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Jayden Myrick, originally one of 14 defendants in the YSL RICO case, was ordered to undergo the evaluation after claiming that he was receiving legal advice from Donald Trump and Joe Biden and wanted to represent himself in the upcoming trial.

Chief Judge Ural Glanville severed Myrick’s case on Monday due to the fact that the 22-year-old hadn’t been taking his medication for at least four months. In April, Myrick was quoted saying, “I’m not the regular inmate, I be with Joe Biden and Donald Trump and they be talking to me. Donald Trump is going to get me out.”

Myrick is already serving a life sentence for murder, armed robbery, and aggravated assault for a 2018 robbery that turned into a deadly shooting. With his case being severed, there are now 10 remaining co-defendants in the original YSL case. The rap label is suspected of being a street gang led by Young Thug responsible for a slew of murders and other violent crimes in the Atlanta area.

Of the 28 men who were initially indicted, several received plea deals in exchange for time served and their admission that YSL is indeed a criminal organization. However, no such deal was ever extended to Young Thug, whom authorities believe is the ringleader of the entire operation and has been in jail since his arrest a year ago.

Public Defender in YSL Trial Reveals She is Underpaid by State, May Need OnlyFans to Survive

‘I need to start an OnlyFans Attorneys in YSL gang trial say they arent getting paid enough 1 21 screenshot

One of the attorneys representing YSL in their RICO trial stated that specific individuals don’t have enough money for representation and that she may start OnlyFans just to survive.

According to WSB-TV, Defense attorney Angela D’Williams is questioning the Georgia Public Defender Council, stating that her work is currently valued at $6 per hour. The state agency appointed her to represent one of the defendants.

“This case is slated to last for about a year, and if you were to do the math, it would be six dollars an hour,” D’Williams said. “I can’t take any new cases. I can’t close any cases. I need something to survive off of. We were under the impression that GPDC was advocating for us, and once they put those walls up, I’m thinking I need to start an OnlyFans.”

In court, D’Williams revealed she wrote the executive director requesting more funds but received a response that she doesn’t need to be met with. Currently, the attorneys are being paid $15,000 for the entire case.

Other developments in the YSL trial include the following:

A juror was arrested for calling the judge a bitch.
An attorney was arrested for having pills in court.
Screaming erupting and disturbing a court preceeding.

Potential YSL Trial Juror Arrested After Calling Presiding Judge a ‘B**ch’

Another wild story comes out from the YSL trial. Reporters inside the courtroom detail a potential juror being held in contempt of court after calling Judge Ural Glanville out of his name.

The potential jury reportedly called Judge Glanville a “bitch.”

Previously, an attorney for defendants in the trial involving alleged Young Slime Life gang members was arrested.

Anastasios Manettas, who represents Young Thug’s codefendant Marles Farley, has been arrested for allegedly bringing prescription drugs to court and assaulting an officer. At around 10 a.m., a routine search of his bag was conducted and officers discovered a bottle of prescription medication and immediately arrested him. As officers moved in, Manettas allegedly tossed his phone to another attorney so that it wouldn’t be searched, but the phone missed and hit an officer.

The sheriff’s office is still formalizing charges, said Fulton County sheriff Pat Labat, adding that drugs have been an issue during the trial. “We have increased the security protocol,” Labat said. “We will continue this moving forward. Anything coming into this courtroom will be checked.” Manetta’s attorney, Brian Tevis, said Manettas is expected to be booked into jail on multiple charges but did not say what those charges were.

Judge Ural Glanville currently has a bond request for Manettas’ client Miles Farley under consideration. Farley is facing a murder charge and is accused of being involved in the death of Shymel Drinks in the blood feud between YSL and YFN, which is also facing RICO and gang charges in Atlanta.
