Kanye West Demands Final Edit Approval Over His Upcoming Netflix Series

The Netflix documentary series about Kanye West, Jeen-yuhs, has been highly anticipated since it was announced last year after months of rumors and with the recent release of the trailer, that anticipation has reached a fever pitch. Unfortunately, it looks like the one person at the center of the maelstrom is unhappy with the arrangements for its impending premier. In a post to his Instagram, the notoriously fickle Ye demanded more creative control over the project, which he’s apparently worried could paint him in an unflattering light (he knows we all saw the last five years, right?).

“I’m going to say this kindly for the last time,” he wrote. “I must get final edit and approval on this doc before it releases on Netflix. Open the edit room immediately so I can be in charge of my own image. Thank you in advance.”

While such a demand is par for the course for Kanye, it’s not all that unusual for Netflix either. The company recently honored an impassioned public request from Dave Chappelle to remove episodes of his Comedy Central sketch show from the service over a royalty dispute, and it likely extended every courtesy to the subjects of recent shows about athletes Colin Kaepernick and Naomi Osaka. However, with the Jeen-yuhs premiere date less than a month away, Netflix may not have time for Ye’s usual last-minute shenanigans. Certainly, if he gets to edit the film himself, it’ll probably end up being a much more sanitized affair — and let’s face it, with this subject, that would be a loss for fans of cinema, Kanye, and hip-hop history.

Eazy-E’s Daughter Weighs In On Kanye West And The Game Sampling Her Father And On The Pete Davidson Line

Last week, Kanye West dropped the proverbial “lyric heard the world” on his new single “Eazy” with The Game. In the midst of a diatribe about his divorce, therapy, and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend Pete Davidson, Ye fires the ultimate shot at the actor when he spits, “God saved me from that crash, just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass.” The song is propped up on a sample of Eazy-E’s “Eazy-Duz-It,” which might’ve raised some eyebrows with hip-hop purists. But now Eazy-E’s daughter Ebie Wright has weighed in on using the sample and on the lyrics.

In an impromptu interview, a TMZ cameraperson asked Wright about her thoughts on the song. Wright quickly voices her approval for the track, saying, “I think it’s a great song. I’m a huge Kanye fan, I love Game. It’s an incredible record and it was also produced by my buddy Hit-Boy so shout out to all my guys.”

That’s a nice co-sign from Eazy’s offspring, but it’s what she said about the Pete Davidson line that was really revealing.

“My father literally represents revolutionizing everything, he also represents gangster rap. What Kanye did and what he said on it, I mean, it don’t get no more gangster than that.”

She elaborates a bit further and on whether her father would’ve wanted to be a part of this song were he alive today. But clearly sees it as an homage to her father and added of Kanye that “Eazy taught him. And Eazy taught me.”

Kanye West Thanks Travis Scott And Kylie Jenner For Helping Him Get To His Daughter’s Birthday Party

On Saturday, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian celebrated the fourth birthday of their third child, Chicago West. A party was held to commemorate the occasion, but according to West himself, the location of that party was withheld from him. After several failed attempts to get into contact with people in and around his family, West went on Instagram Live to air his grievances. “I wasn’t allowed to know where her party was,” he said. “There’s nothing legal. They’re saying these are the kind of games that are being played. This the kind of thing that has really affected my health for the longest.”

Luckily for him, Kanye eventually received the address and was later spotted at the event playing with his daughter and speaking with Kris Jenner. Once he left the party, he returned to Instagram Live with an update, in which he credited Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner with helping him get to the event. “Yo, I’m so happy right now,” Kanye said during the livestream. “I just came from Chi’s party and I just got to shout out Travis Scott for sending me the address and the time and making sure that I was able to spend that birthday memory with my daughter, to be there with the rest of my family.” He added, “It was Kris [Jenner] and Corey [Gamble], Kylie … Kylie let me in right when I got to the spot ’cause security stopped me once again when I got there.”

During his first appearance on Instagram Live, West explained why he went public with his frustrations. “I’m just putting this online ’cause I need y’all support,” he said. “I done called Kim, text the nannies. I got on the phone with Tristan, he asked Khloe. Won’t nobody give me the address to my daughter’s birthday party, right now. That’s gonna imprint in her mind that I wasn’t there for her.”

Kanye West Appeared At His Daughter’s Birthday Party After He Claimed He Wasn’t Allowed To Attend It

Kanye West held a rare Instagram Live session on Saturday. It wasn’t to play new music. It was so he could air his frustrations after he claimed that he wasn’t allowed to attend the birthday party for his and Kim Kardashian’s daughter Chicago West, who turned 4 years old on Saturday. “Wishing my daughter a public happy birthday,” Kanye said during the livestream. “I wasn’t allowed to know where her party was. There’s nothing legal. They’re saying these are the kind of games that are being played. This the kind of thing that has really affected my health for the longest.”

He continued, “I’m just not playing, I’m taking control of my narrative this year. I’m being the father, the best father, the Ye version of a father and I’m not finna let this happen. We gon’ be in real-time with this right here. Chicago, happy birthday. I love you.”

He then explained why he went public with the situation.

After the livestream, it seems that someone in Kim’s camp sent the address to him, as he was later spotted at the party. An image that was posted by the Twitter account @TeamKanyeDaily shows the rapper speaking with Kris Jenner at the event.

Kanye West Defends Punching A Man Who Asked Him For An Autograph: ‘You Don’t Know What I’m Dealing With’

Earlier this week, LA’s Fox affiliate revealed that Kanye West was being investigated for allegedly punching a fan in the face outside a Los Angeles nightclub. According to the report, the rapper was approached by the individual for an autograph while he sat in his SUV outside Soho Warehouse at 3am on Thursday. The rapper then punched the fan in their face, which caused them to fall to the ground. The report also suggested an argument occurred, but at the time police did not reveal any details and Kanye had not spoken to them either. During a recent interview with Jason Lee on Hollywood Unlocked, Kanye spoke about the incident.

“It’s 3 a.m. in front of the warehouse,” Kanye began. “I’m saying, ‘You don’t know what I’m dealing with right now.’ This dude, he just had this attitude like, ‘What you gon’ do?’” He added, “Imma just tell you, that blue COVID mask ain’t stop that knockout.”

His comments come after he and The Game shared their new collaboration, “Eazy.” On it, Kanye took time to throw some shots at Pete Davidson, rapping, “God saved me from that crash/Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass.” He also addressed his divorce from Kim Kardashian and showed some love to his new partner Julia Fox.

Additionally, during the Hollywood Unlocked interview, Kanye claimed that security at Kim Kardashian’s home blocked him from entering the house to see his children because Pete Davidson was home.

Kanye West Says He Was Blocked From Seeing His Kids At Kim Kardashian’s Home Because Pete Davidson Was Home

After Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce last February, their split was described “as amicable as a divorce can be.” Apart from Kanye’s attempts to get back in Kim’s graces, which Kim said were not good enough to change her mind, the former couple hasn’t had any major issues. They’ve both moved on to other people, Kim dating Pete Davidson, while Kanye has been out and about with actress Julia Fox. However, according to Kanye himself, there have been issues between him and Kim’s new partner.

Jason Lee provided Entertainment Tonight with excerpts from Kanye’s full interview with Hollywood Unlocked. In it, Kanye claimed there was a moment where he was blocked from seeing his four children at Kim’s home. He claims security blocked him from entering because Pete Davidson was there at the time.

But he tried to be diplomatic. “But, I didn’t want to argue about it,” he said. “So I just chilled, took my kids to school, and then took my kids back. I am driving. I bring them back and North was like, ‘I want you to come upstairs and see something.’ And it’s like, ‘Oh, Daddy can’t come see something. Daddy can’t come inside.’ But that hadn’t been defined.”

Kanye added that he and Kim did not discuss any restrictions, yet he was still blocked by security. “My daughter wanted me to go inside,” he said. “I was like, I am the richest Black man and North’s father, right, and the security was able to stop me from going into the room with my daughter and that had not been defined.” He then suggests that Pete Davidson being home at the time was the reason he was blocked from entering the home.

“And, I am hearing that the new boyfriend is actually in the house that I can’t even go to,” Kanye added. “And, that’s where I call my cousins. And, my cousin is real opinionated, you know that. And I said, ‘I need you to go and say these two things.’ Security ain’t going to be in between me and my children, and my children ain’t going to be on TikTok without my permission.”

The interview arrives after he and The Game released “Eazy,” a track Kanye used to send shots at Pete Davidson and address his divorce with Kim Kardashian.

Kanye West Explains Why He Bought A House Close To Kim Kardashian: ‘My Solace Comes From Seeing My Kids’

After attempting towards the end of 2021 to reconcile his marriage with Kim Kardashian, Kanye West seems to have finally moved on. The rapper’s been spotted on multiple dates with actress Julia Fox. That being said, Kanye and Kim still have four children together, and developing a successful co-parenting system will be their next task to complete. Kanye’s first step in doing that was purchasing a home near his ex-wife, a move many assumed was a way for him to hound Kim about their divorce.

However, during an interview with Jason Lee on Hollywood Unlocked, Kanye explained why he bought the house. “My solace comes from seeing my kids and getting a solid schedule,” he said. “That’s why I even got the house. The media flipped into there was something wrong with me getting a house next to my kids.”

It also seemed to be related to an experience he had with his own father as a child. “You see when my mom took me from Atlanta to Chicago, my dad didn’t come to the coldest and most dangerous city in the world to be next to [me],” he recalled. “He said, ‘I’m going to stay down in Atlanta.’”

Kanye made sure to reiterate his feelings about his kids, saying that “nothing with my career, with this rap, with this media, with none of that, that’s gonna keep me from my children. And that’s what I want everybody to know.” He added, “Don’t play with me, don’t play with my children. Ain’t no security gonna get in between me and my children and you ain’t gonna gaslight me.”

Kanye West Threatens Pete Davidson And Addresses His Divorce With Kim Kardashian On ‘Eazy’ With The Game

Lately, Kanye West has been in the news for a lot of things that aren’t related to music. He had quite an interesting date with Julia Fox and the two seemed to be going steady. His brand Yeezy Gap teamed up with Balenciaga for a new collection that will arrive at some point in the future. His Netflix documentary Jeen-Yuhs is set to drop on February 16. Long story short, Kanye is quite busy, and now comes his new single, “Eazy” featuring The Game.

It marks the pair’s first song together since 2016’s “Mula,” which appeared on The Game’s album Documentary 2. “Eazy,” which is driven by a sample of Eazy-E’s “Eazy Duz It,” is also produced by Hit-Boy and it marks his and Kanye’s first song together in years after they fell out nearly a decade ago.

But the most attention-grabbing aspect of the song comes when Kanye sends a shot at Pete Davidson. “God saved me from that crash,” he raps. “Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass.” Kanye also addresses his and Kim Kardashian’s divorce. “N****, we havin’ the best divorce ever,” he says. “If we go to court, we’ll go to court together / Matter of fact, pick up your sis’, we’ll go to Kourt’s together.”

Kanye also criticizes the Kardashians’ parenting style. “I got love for the nannies / But real family is better,” he raps. “The cameras watch the kids / Y’all stop takin’ the credit.” He also takes a moment to praise Julia Fox saying, “And my new b*tch bad / I know Illuminati mad.”

The new song comes after Kanye confirmed Donda 2 was in the works. It’s unknown when the project will arrive and if “Eazy” will appear on it.

Kanye West Supposedly Takes Shots At Pete Davidson In A Leaked Song Snippet

A leaked snippet from a supposed new Kanye West song suggests that while Kim Kardashian-West is cool with her future ex-husband’s choice of partner, the feeling is not mutual. The song, which allegedly appears on a song with The Game titled “My Life Was Never Eazy” and was sourced to a Clubhouse chat with Game’s manager Wack 100, finds Kanye name-checking Pete Davidson, Kim’s new beau, and sending a few fighting words the comedian’s way. “God saved me from the crash / Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass,” he raps.

The rough-sounding snippet may not even appear on the song, which is said to be intended for either Kanye’s Donda sequel or Game’s “comeback” album Drillmatic, according to TMZ. I guess it just goes to show: Women definitely handle breakups better than men.

Certainly, Kanye’s reaction seems to contradict 21 Savage’s assertion that it was him who did the dumping. It also sounds a bit hypocritical, considering he’s been very publicly affectionate with his own new romantic interest, actress Julia Fox. Fox detailed the burgeoning couple’s recent date, recalling how he’d rented a hotel suite full of clothes for her to take photos in — y’know, very reasonable second-date behavior. In the meantime, Kim’s relationship with Pete has also attracted its fair share of attention for the supposedly odd-couple pairing, which model Emily Ratajkowski attributed to his charm and vulnerability — a definite contrast to Ye’s megalomania.

2021’s Highest-Paid Musicians Include Bruce Springsteen And Mostly Others Who Also Sold Their Catalogs

2021 saw a lot of artists leave the year with a lot more money than they had at the start of it. Now, Rolling Stone has compiled a list of last year’s highest-earning musicians, and on top is Bruce Springsteen, who, largely to his massive catalog sale, brought in $590 million in 2021.

The rest of the list is mostly populated by artists who secured their bags with similar sales: Paul Simon is No. 3, Ryan Tedder is No. 5, Red Hot Chili Peppers is No. 6, Lindsey Buckingham is No. 7, Motley Crüe is No. 8, and Blake Shelton is No. 9. Meanwhile, Jay-Z is second on the list with $470 million and therefore No. 1 among artists whose 2021 earnings weren’t mostly thanks to catalog sales. Other big sales were involved, though: He sold half of his Armand de Brignac champagne for $300 million, and he and other Tidal co-owners sold 80 percent of the company for $302 million. The only other artists on the list who didn’t make bank from catalog sales are Ye (aka Kanye West) at No. 4 and Taylor Swift at No. 10. Swift is also the only woman on the list.

Zack O’Malley Greenburg, who penned the Rolling Stone post, also unveiled an extended version of the list in his newsletter, which includes Neil Young at No. 11 (the highest-ranking act not born in the US) and The Rolling Stones at No. 12.

As for the methodology used to compile the list, the publications notes, “The list measures pre-tax income for calendar year 2021 before deducting fees for agents, managers, lawyers, living expenses, etc. Estimates are generated by scouring public documents and interviewing individuals with direct knowledge of major deals.”
