John Gabbana, formerly known as Boonk Gang, has caused a stir on social media with his recent comments. The Christian rapper called out the trend of rappers converting to Islam.
‘True World Religion’
On Dec. 29, JohnGabbana took to Instagram to express his belief that Christianity is “the true world religion” and questioned the appeal of Islam. His remarks have ignited debates about religious choices and cultural influences in the entertainment industry.
In his Instagram video, Gabbana expressed his curiosity about the growing number of celebrities converting to Islam, stating:
“I’m starting to see celebrities convert to Islam like it’s a trend. It’s cool to be Muslim now.”
Why Islam?
The former rapper then proceeded to question the basis of Islam, highlighting that there is no evidence that Prophet Mohammed was indeed a prophet or the author of the Quran.
“I’m curious on one thing. What’s drawing y’all to Islam?” he continued, firing off an inquiry. “Do y’all know there’s no miraculous information that Mohammed was even a prophet? He didn’t even write the Koran.”
Gabbana also gave a quick history lesson about the origins of Christianity and Islam.
“Check this out: the Koran was gathered and put together 600 years after the events of Christianity. Now, why would we take a document written 600 years later to tell us what happened to Jesus when we have eyewitness testimonies to tell us what happened to Jesus?” he asked rhetorically. “It’s called the New Testament. It’s in your Bible. And the Muslim would claim the Bible is corrupt except where it helps their theology. Islam is not the true world religion. Christianity is.”

However, it seems Boosie may not have fully understood the plot, as the 1982 novel book by Alice Walker explores the queer love story between characters Shug Avery (played by Taraji P. Henson) and Celie (played by Fantasia). Director Blitz Bazawule stated:
“Celie is a queer icon, and Alice Walker has been very vocal about that.” He continued, “Our job was to just lean into it harder, and give a little bit more context and a little more beauty to her coming-out moment.”

Abashae’s Instagram Live video exposed her harrowing experience with Akademiks. In the video, she stated that the alleged assault was not consensual and vehemently denied Akademiks’ claims.
“For you to pretend you didn’t do anything? That I just went to your house and I’m some thot, like we didn’t know each other for 2 years,” she said in the video. “You tried to save yourself after your friends assaulted me. Whether or not you got drunk or not. I know that when you woke up, you were on top of me too. You raped me too.”

After Ye sparked much controversy during the preview party in Miami, the cover art for Vultures was unveiled on Dec. 12, portraying a striking image of a bird or vulture perched atop a shovel after a burial. The background consists of serene grassy hills devoid of any human presence.
The artwork captivated fans’ attention, with some drawing comparisons to the Norwegian music project Burzum, which is a Norwegian music project founded by Varg Vikernes that started in 1991 and focuses on black metal music. Vikernes has had a reputation for being a neo-nazi and for his far-right political views.
