Christian Rapper John Gabbana Questions Authenticity Of Rappers Converting To Islam

John Gabbana

John Gabbana, formerly known as Boonk Gang, has caused a stir on social media with his recent comments. The Christian rapper called out the trend of rappers converting to Islam.

‘True World Religion’

On Dec. 29, John Gabbana took to Instagram to express his belief that Christianity is “the true world religion” and questioned the appeal of Islam. His remarks have ignited debates about religious choices and cultural influences in the entertainment industry.

In his Instagram video, Gabbana expressed his curiosity about the growing number of celebrities converting to Islam, stating:

“I’m starting to see celebrities convert to Islam like it’s a trend. It’s cool to be Muslim now.”

Why Islam?

The former rapper then proceeded to question the basis of Islam, highlighting that there is no evidence that Prophet Mohammed was indeed a prophet or the author of the Quran.

“I’m curious on one thing. What’s drawing y’all to Islam?” he continued, firing off an inquiry. “Do y’all know there’s no miraculous information that Mohammed was even a prophet? He didn’t even write the Koran.”

Gabbana also gave a quick history lesson about the origins of Christianity and Islam.

“Check this out: the Koran was gathered and put together 600 years after the events of Christianity. Now, why would we take a document written 600 years later to tell us what happened to Jesus when we have eyewitness testimonies to tell us what happened to Jesus?” he asked rhetorically. “It’s called the New Testament. It’s in your Bible. And the Muslim would claim the Bible is corrupt except where it helps their theology. Islam is not the true world religion. Christianity is.”

Religion Or Trend?

Users on Twitter (X) reacted to Gabbana questioning if converting to Islam is a trend.

One user named @bronisabeast commented, “I mean they call themselves religious and still have video clips with naked girls and stay gangbanging,” and one user named @wisdomquotient commented “John Gabbana raises an interesting point. The trend of rappers turning to Islam might reflect a growing appreciation for the values and culture within the community. It’s always intriguing to observe shifts in cultural and personal choices.”

Gabbana in another post responded to backlash by saying “had a supernatural encounter with God” before landing on Christianity.

“Instead of commenting foolishness under my post, grab you a pen n paper and start taking notes. U can learn a lot from watching n observing, stop always tryna be da one heard. Ya digg,” the caption reads.

Turning Over A New Leaf

The rise of celebrities converting to Islam is not a new phenomenon. Athletes and entertainers such as boxers Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney, and rappers Kevin Gates, Lil Durk, and NLE Choppa have all publicly embraced Islam in recent years.

With many entertainers converting to Islam, it adds to the list of others who have found God on a spiritual journey. Those celebrities include The Game, Mase, Michelle Williams, and others.

Will Finesse2tymes Find Redemption In Islam?

This controversy surrounding rappers converting to Islam is not isolated. In November 2023, Memphis rapper Finese2Tymes revealed his intentions to embrace Islam, eliciting a variety of responses on social media. Some fans on social media viewed it as a genuine spiritual pursuit, while others dismissed it as following a trend.
