Desmond Howard Hilariously Mispronounces Michael Penix Jr. On “ESPN College Gameday”

Desmond Howard has gone viral for a misheard chant while covering the Border War rivalry game over the weekend. As #7 Washington and #8 Oregon prepared to face off in their first-ever top-ten clash, Howard was working the crowd alongside Harry the Husky, Washington’s mascot. “He got the Big Penix Energy! I said, he got that Big Penix Energy!” Howard chanted in reference to Washington QB and Heisman front-runner Michael Penix Jr.. However, as Penix’s surname is pronounced “Pee-nix”, Howard’s energy chanting definitely made it sound like he was saying “Big Penis Energy” instead.

As for the game itself, it was a true instant classic. The two PNW schools engaged a thrilling shootout that saw Washington survive and stay undefeated as Oregon’s kicker shanked a game-tying field goal as time expired. The Dawg faithful stormed the field to celebrate Washington’s 36-33 win. Penix Jr. had another stellar game, throwing for 302 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, running back Dillon Johnson added another score on the ground along with a 100-yard game. Cooking the secondary all game long, two Washington receivers surpassed 100 yards on the day.

Penix Jr. And Washington Eye Pac-12 Glory

Rising to #5 in the latest AP poll, Washington has a stretch of easy games before a tough slate to end the season. Arizona State and Stanford are up next, a pair of teams that have three wins between them. However, the Huskies will have to be wary of the Cardinal especially, who upset Colorado this past weekend. After that, the season ends with games against USC, Utah, Oregon State, and the last Apple Cup of the Pac-12 era against Washington State.

Meanwhile, Penix Jr. is second in passing yards and fourth in touchdowns. He is far and away the current Heisman favorite and looks like a completely different QB to the one that began their career at Indiana in 2018. As for the now #9 Oregon, they have a similar schedule to Washington. Games against Washington State, Utah, USC, and Oregon State will prove to be solid tests. However, they should be able to grab wins against Cal and Arizona State. However, it appears that their Pac-12 title hopes are over unless someone like USC begins to slide hard. The Trojans lost their first game of the season this weekend, being blown out by Notre Dame.

Beyonce Awards Washington DC Extra Special “RENAISSANCE” Tour Title

Even with a few minor speedbumps – such as crew members forgetting to put Beyonce’s ladder in place, or getting a bit too handsy while helping her down – the RENAISSANCE World Tour has been going well so far. For her most recent North American stop, the mother of three performed for Kamala Harris and her husband. The Vice President and her partner joined tens of thousands of others in Washington, DC on Sunday. Not only did Bey give her audience yet another stellar performance, but she also dished out $100K to pay for the local transit to run an hour later due to the bad weather patrons were forced to endure on their way home.

Besides her naturally generous spirit, it’s likely the “Halo” singer was so willing to help out the BeyHive in the nation’s capital due to their “ENERGY.” During the upbeat song, on which Queen B collaborated with BEAM, she’s made a tradition of having her audience go dead silent when she sings the lyrics, “Look around, eerybody on mute.” With each performance, the crowd has gotten better at playing along with her game. According to a tweet on Monday (August 7) morning, Beyonce has crowned DC as the winner of her “war.”

Beyonce Has Big Love for Fans in Washington DC

In response to the news, one fan retweeted a video from the moment that Beyonce was stunned by her crowd. Due to their complete silence, a literal echo could be heard in the stadium. This led the Houston native to crack a not-so-subtle smile before giving out the award.

As you may recall, a fan of Beyonce’s was stabbed last month while dancing in a gas station parking lot. The “CUFF IT” hitmaker was sure to show the late man love during a recent performance, and his killer has since been charged with a hate crime. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates. RIP.

Pras Michel Conspiracy Trial Begins

The trial involving Pras Michel began on Monday (March 27) in Washington D.C., more specifically its jury selection. Moreover, according to an NPR report, the Fugees member faces various charges such conspiracy, witness tampering, and failing to register as an agent of China. For those unaware, an investigation into potential embezzlement of millions to help Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign found Pras at the center around December of 2018. Since then, he faced other legal woes for failing to pay child support, but a broader federal case is now underway.

Furthermore, his legal troubles actually caused the cancellation of the Fugees’ reunion tour back in August of 2022. To elaborate on the charges, apparently the New Jersey native schemed to reimburse attendees of an Obama campaign fundraiser for $40,000 using foreign investment for ticket costs. In addition, authorities accused him of threatening those who would report such a plot to officials. Not only that, but he also allegedly helped Malaysian billionaire Jho Low through a secret lobbying campaign. This was to pressure U.S. justice and White House officials into dismissing the existing fraud scheme.

Also, the court accused him of aiding the Chinese government “secure the return” of a dissident residing in the States and developing close ties to Steve Bannon and the Trump administration. Since Low is reportedly living in China as a fugitive, the 50-year-old MC faces these charges alone. According to his legal team, Pras acted in good faith and in the interests of the U.S. when meeting with a Chinese minister in 2017. While federal authorities reportedly offered Pras a plea deal, he then rejected it and went on to plead not guilty to these crimes.

“Defendant continues to deny he was acting as an agent for China and denies he willfully and knowingly acted as a secret agent under the direction and control of China when he approached the FBI,” defense lawyers stated this month in court documents. Meanwhile, if convicted on all charges, Michel could land in prison for 22 years. For the latest updates on Pras and his legal case, check back in with HNHH.
