GloRilla Announces Release Date For “Wanna Be” Remix With Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion

It’s already been a busy month for GloRilla, but regardless, the Memphis-born femcee has even more to come. Currently, she’s making her rounds across North America alongside Megan Thee Stallion on the “Hot Girl Summer” tour, which was first announced in March. Last week, the duo took over Madison Square Garden, impressing their NYC audience with a very special guest.

Cardi B joined Glo and Meg onstage, performing hits such as “WAP.” They even took the opportunity to announce an upcoming remix of their Ehhthang Ehhthang collab, “Wanna Be.” Of course, the crowd went wild for Cardi’s surprise appearance, and have been anticipating the exciting collab ever since. At the time, they told fans to “stay tuned” for the Cardi B-assisted track, though they didn’t specify exactly when they could expect to hear it.

GloRilla’s “Wanna Be” Remix Arrives On May 31

Today, however, Glo took to Twitter to unveil the upcoming remix’s cover art and confirm its official release date. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait too much longer to hear it. “Y’all been asking for this so here it is!! Wanna be remix featuring @theestallion and @iamcardib coming THIS FRIDAY!!” she wrote. The cover art features cartoon versions of the trio rocking coordinating black fits, posing in front of a fence reminiscent of Glo’s original Ehhthang Ehhthang artwork. For obvious reasons, fans can’t wait to hear the new remix and are sounding off in her comments section.

“Song of the summer is here,” one supporter writes. “We will be streaming,” another says. Some are even hopeful that the remix will arrive alongside an accompanying music video featuring all three of the artists, though this is still unconfirmed. Summer is still young, but at this point, it looks like if the Song Of The Summer race ended today, the title would go to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.” Still, there’s time to change that, and it might come from the hip-hop world: GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion dropped “Wanna Be” back in April, but now the track is getting a fresh coat of paint via a remix featuring Cardi B.

Cardi confirmed the news on social media today (May 29), announcing that the remix is set for release on Friday, May 31.

This came after the three teased the song on Megan’s Hot Girl Summer tour, on which GloRilla serves as opener. When the trek his New York City’s Madison Square Garden on May 21, Cardi B hit the stage for a few songs. While there, after Meg and Glo ran through “Wanna Be,” Glo teased an announcement before revealing that a Cardi-featuring remix of the song was incoming (as NME notes).

Cardi, meanwhile, recently shared her thoughts on pornography, in response to Candace Owens’ call to ban it, saying, “Ommmggg why yall so against porn ? Is it that bad for yall ? I enjoy it but I don’t know I guess is like a 6 time a year thing .I personally don’t feel no connection or addiction to it just a little quick one two ….NOTHING LIKE REAL INTIMACY!”

Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla have been shutting up a lot of critics ever since their Hot Girl Summer Tour began last week. The duo has continuously packed each and every arena they have been to so far. This could turn out to be one of the highest grossing tours of 2024, no question. It is especially possible when you do things like bring Cardi B out for a stunning guest performance. Megan & Big Glo were in New York City last night as Madison Square Garden was sold out in anticipation for another lit show. But they really turned it up a notch when the Bronx native came out.

While the “Bartier Cardi” rapper was onstage, her and Megan performed their biggest collab to date, “WAP.” Fans were absolutely loving it as they were screaming their hearts out. They rarely play this song together at shows, so this was especially a big deal for that reason alone. However, the threesome had one more trick up their sleeves.

According to AllHipHop, GloRilla took the lead in teasing the audience with some new music coming soon. She began by being extremely vague, “I need y’all to stay tuned. Make sure you tune in tonight ‘cause I ain’t telling you right now.” Megan hilariously questioned her co-star, “Now how you gone tease that and then try and walk away?” That is when Glo finally spilled the beans, “Y’all wanna hear ‘Wanna Be’ with muthaf***in Cardi B? “‘Wanna Be’ muthaf***ing remix about to drop y’all, be ready. Stay tuned!” Hopefully, we can get that remix sooner than later, preferably this Friday.

Recently, Meg and Glo made a song together called “Wanna Be.” This new track can be found on GloRilla’s new mixtape, and it is a song that already has a viral challenge behind it. The “Wanna Be” challenge is all about twerking, and Meg was the one who was able to get it started with some wild videos over the weekend. Megan Thee Stallion isn’t phrased by Instagram’s stern warning over posting NSFW content. To prove how unfazed she is, Meg has put her “best ass on Instagram” title on the line for an open twerk challenge.

Yesterday (April 6), the entertainer took to her official page to announce the competition. “IG after dark LOL,” she wrote. “And nobody better not challenge me because this the best ass on Instagram 🤪. Or, if you think so, tag me in your video 😂. Stream ‘Wanna Be.’”

So far, only two brave souls have come forward to battle it out. The first submission came from Baddies producer Natalie Nunn. Users online didn’t quite feel that attempt.

But the fitness model Scotty’s clip has users online ready to crown a winner.

“I’m afraid she already won.”

Now, Meg’s followers are attempting to tag others into the challenge. The names thrown around so far include SZA and Uproxx cover star Chlöe. However, the “FYS” singer laughed off supporters request. “I’m afraid she already won 😭,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The only person who could potentially compete with Meg is her “Wap” collaborator, Cardi B. This could motivate Cardi to redeem herself from the last zero-rated twerk video she released.
