Funk Flex is well known for his very passionate takes on hip hop. One of his more famous, and controversial, takes happened when he was talking about how if 2Pac hadn’t of lied, then Biggie Small’s wouldn’t have gotten killed. “He lied!” Funk said about 2Pac.

Bay Area rapper, Symba, who has gotten cosigns from Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, and others, headed up to Hot 97 where he had an interview with Funk Flex, and ended things off with a freestyle where he called out the legendary radio DJ for his comments about 2Pac.

“Flex, it’s an honor to meet you, but let’s be clear / I’ve done had a bone to pick with yo ass for four years / You’ve been a big part of this culture my whole life / So what I’m ’bout to say almost don’t feel right / You say some wild shit, most times you actually right / But all that disrespecting 2Pac shit stops tonight,” Symba rapped.

It seems as if his bars got Flex to fold as he interjected saying “Alright! Alright! I’ma stop! I won’t say nothing about him no more. They love him in The Bay! He stopped me today. Never more.” Flex then added “Rest in peace, 2Pac.”

However, Symba continued where he left off, rapping:

“As a West Coast nigga, ‘Pac gave all of us pride / That’s why when you said what you said we was surprised / How you wait 20-something years he died / To come on this muthafucka and keep screaming, ‘He lied!’”

“And he ain’t alive to tell his side / But I ain’t mad at you ’cause you was speaking your mind / To keep it real, you said what’s on half of these niggas’ minds / Just the next time you say it don’t sound like you ’bout to cry.”

Yeezy GAP Partnership Is Over! Kanye Sends Notice Of Termination Letter To GAP Executives

Ye Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga

Earlier this week, in an interview with Bloomberg, Kanye shared plans of ending his partnerships with Adidas and Gap when the contracts expired in 2026 and 2030, respectively. In his interview he noted that there would be “No more companies standing in between me and the audience.”

Well, it seems as if Kanye is taking the initiative and not waiting for his contracts to expire. One of West’s attorneys told the Associated Press earlier this morning that a notice of termination was sent to GAP executives, effectively ending the Yeezy x GAP partnership after only two years.

The termination letter stated that GAP had failed to uphold their end of the agreement, which included launching Yeezy GAP merchandise in retail stores and eventually opening up Yeezy GAP retail stores by next year. “Gap left Ye no choice but to terminate their collaboration agreement because of Gap’s substantial noncompliance,” one of Ye’s lawyers, Nicholas Gravante Jr, said in an email to the AP.

While the Yeezy GAP Engineeered By Balenciaga collection was made available in stores, the notice of termination letter says that the collection was a part of a separate agreement and does not fulfill GAP’s contractual obligations.

When the partnership between Ye and the clothing giant was announced 2 years ago, many were excited that Yeezy apparel would finally be available to the masses. It was a full circle event for Kanye who used to work at the GAP and famously rapped about his experience on The College Dropout. His partnership also would help him fulfill his vision of creating egalitarian clothing for the masses.

However, since the partnership was announced 2 years ago, it has been marred by inconsistency. Pre orders for the Yeezy “round jacket” first dropped after the first of three DONDA listening parties and in September of last year, the “perfect hoodies” were made available online. However, none of these drops were put in retail stores.

Now, Ye is destined to move on from relying on corporate partnerships and will take matters into his own hands.

Ice-T Says He’ll No Longer Explain L.A.’s Gang Culture Following PnB Rock’s Murder, “It’s Not A Game… At All”

Listen to PNB Rock's Latest Single "Scrubs"

Many fans and artists alike flooded social media yesterday after hearing of PnB Rock’s untimely murder at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in Inglewood, CA. His murder also sparked a conversation amongst L.A. natives about gang culture in L.A. and how artists who aren’t from the city need to move differently when they come out here.

West Coast hip hop legend Ice-T has been vocal about gang culture in L.A., and following the news about PnB Rock, took to Twitter where he said he’s “done” talking about gang culture in L.A.

“I’m done explaining LA Gang culture… MFs will not listen. It’s not a game.. At all.”

Ice-T had spoke about gang culture and rapper’s in L.A. needing to be careful after Kodak Black was shot in front of Justin Beiber’s Superbowl party in West Hollywood in February.

“SuperBowlWeekend: Not a Threat, just a Warning,” Ice-T had tweeted. “Young Rappers coming to LA for the Super Bowl weekend. LA has over 50 Thousand ACTIVE Gang Members. Make sure you play it SAFE. It’s the Wild Wild West.”

As for PnB Rock, the suspects in his murder has not yet been identified. In a statement to the L.A. Times, Los Angeles Police Department Captain Kelly Muniz said that the gunmen entered the restaurant, immediately pulled out a firearm and demanded that the Philadelphia rapper give them his jewlery. They then shot PnB Rock and fled in a getaway car in the parking lot.

In the same statement, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said that an Instagram post made by PnB Rock’s girlfriend with their location might’ve been the ultimate cause of his death.

” [He] was with his family — with his girlfriend or some kind of friend of his — and as they’re there, enjoying a simple meal, [he] was brutally attacked by an individual who apparently [came] to the location after a social media posting,” Moore said.

Apple Unveils New Tech in Annual Product Launch

Apple 2022 Product Launch

A little over fifteen years ago, Steve Jobs stood on stage and revealed the first iPhone in a reveal that would change the world as we know it (for nostalgia, the full video can be found here). On Wednesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook continued the tradition of launch announcements to share some new features and updates to the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.

The launch event was pre-recorded and delivered from Apple Park, the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. Cook started sharing a montage of users who had used their Apple Watches in life-threatening situations and then shared some new features of the upcoming Apple Watch 7. The watch’s biggest change (in addition to a slightly new design and bigger screen) is that it is reportedly more durable and able to withstand more extreme conditions than previous models. The watch targets outdoor athletes with increased water resistance, increased durability, a compass, and a depth metric for scuba divers. The 7 series t also has a new “action” button for quick use while working out or wearing gloves. The 7 series has more health tracking capabilities and car crash detection technology, which can detect if the wearer was in a severe car crash and automatically call emergency services. The watch will also reportedly get up to 60 hours of battery life thanks to a new software rollout.

Cook unveiled the iPhone 14, which comes in two models: the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The Plus will replace the “iPhone 13 mini” model with a bigger model with a 6.7-inch screen. One of the biggest changes is that digital eSIM technology will replace a physical SIM card. However, the 14’s biggest reveal was the phone’s capability to connect to satellites for emergency services in remote areas thanks to a partnership with Globalstar.

The third product reveal was a new generation of AirPods. An Apple H2 chip reportedly provides better sound quality and clarity. Other new features include an improved volume touch control button, longer battery life, a smaller XS ear tip, and an in-case speaker.

The new Apple Watch will cost at least $799 and will be available in stores on about Sept. 23. Preorders will be available next Wednesday. The iPhone 14 will start at $799 and the Plus will start at $899. Preorders start on Sept 9, but the Plus won’t ship until October. The new AirPods Pro cost $249 and will go on sale on Sept 23.

The full launch video can be seen here.

Ukraine Defense Ministry Quotes Pusha-T In Tweet, Push Responds

Pusha-T Claims 'They Won't Publish' a Children's Book He's Been Trying To Write For Years

Pusha-T has had a hell of a year. From dropping one of the best albums of the year, to doing an Arby’s and NFL commercial, and getting a cosign from Tom Brady. Now it looks like the Virginia Beach MC can add another cosign to his list, from Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.

Earlier today, Ukraine’s defense ministry shared an infographic in a tweet, updating followers on the amount of Russian casualties since the invasion that began in February of this year. While the numbers of casualties seem high, what really got people’s attention was the Pusha-T lyric that was featured in the tweet.

“‘I put numbers on the boards’ @PUSHA_T” the tweet said. “Total combat losses of the enemy from Feb 24 to Sep 7:.”

Many Push fans reacted to the tweet, with many sharing their confusion over the Ukraine using a Pusha-T line.

Pusha even, somewhat unenthusiastically, responded to Ukraine’s tweet, saying “Great taste in music for the win…”

Young Guru Proves Jay-Z Did “God Did” Verse In One Take

young guru

Jay-Z recently set the rap world ablaze after the release of DJ Khaled’s latest album God Did, where he rapped for 4 minutes straight on the song of the same name. Fans and critics have called the verse one of Jay’s best of his career, and have called into question whether he actually did the verse in just one take.

Well, he did. And Hov’s engineer Young Guru recently posted to Instagram to show people that Hov did his verse in just one take. In the post he shared a picture of him and Hov in the studio and then the recording on the computer that shows Jay-Z unedited vocals.

“This is first and last time I’m gonna do this. I could care less if you believe me when I say that he did this @djkhaled verse in one take,” Guru wrote. ” Let’s be clear for the youth. Doing a song in one take is just a bonus of the level of talent. The song is what is important. You have to realize how much work is done before he goes in the booth.”

Guru went on to say “Questions like, “are these the right words”, “are you going in the right direction”, “is this the best flow” are all answered and addressed mentally way before you record. Then you say the verse over and over in teh control room to memorialize it. Does jay do EVERY verse in one take? No. But has he done A LOT of verses in one take? Hell yes!!! I have no reason to [cap]! Lookat the zoom in of the screen. There are no chops or breaks in that audio. This “I don’t believe you unless I see it” thing is foreign to me. So here is your proof. It doesn’t matter if you believed me….. God Did!!!”

Hov’s verse had been hyped up by DJ Khaled even before the release of the album. However, it seems like Khaled was right. Following the release of the song, Guru even broke down the double entendre’s Jay used in the verse.

The Weeknd Releases "Sacrifices" Video from New Album 'Dawn FM'

The Weeknd was all ready to go for his Los Angeles show, but his voice was not. The Toronto legend had to cut his After Hours Til Dawn Tour stop at SoFi Stadium short after his voice went out on him.

“I personally want to apologize to you guys,” The Weeknd said. “I don’t know what just happened when I screamed, but I just lost my voice. This is killing me. I don’t want to stop the show. But I can’t give you the concert I want to give you right now. I’m going make sure everybody’s good — get your money back — but I’ll do a show real soon for you guys. I love you guys. Thank you so much.”

After the show ended early, The Weeknd released a statement vowing to return to Los Angeles for another show.
