Breonna Taylor’s Mother Confirms She & Tyre Nichols Shared The Same Birthday

Tamika Palmer, the mother of Breonna Taylor, confirmed on Instagram that her late daughter and Tyre Nichols share the same birthday. Both Taylor and Nichols died at the hands of police violence.

After Palmer shared her post, her friend and activist, Tamika Mallory, reflected on speaking about Nichols’ death with Palmer. Mallory explained that she had to console Palmer following the news.

Demonstrators gathered to prepare for possible unrest in wake of the Grand Jury decision regarding the officers involved in the killing of Breonna Taylor. “Yesterday, I spent 30 horrible minutes trying to calm down Breonna Taylor’s mother and my friend,” she stated. “She was hysterical after learning her daughter and Tyre share the same exact birthday to the year. She was damn near inconsolable and the only thing that broke her mourning was me saying, ‘Sis, you are going to get sick. Please stop before you get sick.’”

Mallory continued: “Then I cracked a personal joke and we were able to shift the conversation. We started cussing and talking about the war to stop this shit. So many emotions in 30 minutes. This shit is traumatizing… It’s NOT OK. I’m NOT OK!”

Nichols was brutalized by several Memphis police officers during a traffic stop. Video from the incident shows them punching and kicking him in the head repeatedly for three minutes. Nichols died three days later.

LeBron James Under Fire For Response To Tyre Nichols’ Death

LeBron James is coming under fire on social media for his response to the death of Tyre Nichols. The 29-year-old died three days following a traffic stop by Memphis Police Department officers. Video from the incident shows the offices brutally beating Nichols, who was hospitalized in critical condition afterward.

“WE ARE OUR OWN WORSE ENEMY!!!” James said in response on Twitter, seemingly referencing the officers being Black.

“He never moved past page 6 in that Malcolm’s book,” one user replied.

Another wrote: “You talking about the lakers? Because if you talking about this current situation bruh nah. Wrong time.”

James also retweeted a post from an MSNBC analyst that wrote: “What’s really clear about some of the reaction to the murder of #TyreNichols is that we’ve failed to fully understand race and it’s construction as a systemic tool. The entire system of policing sees the Black body as a problem. No matter who pulls the trigger.”

“TOO FACTUAL,” James further added.

The video footage of the attack shows all officers repeatedly striking Nichols with their fists, boots, as well as batons for three minutes. Afterward, they rested him against a patrol car and didn’t provide medical aid for another 20 minutes.

The officers involved all face second-degree murder charges as well as charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct, and official oppression.

Numerous other voices in the NBA have also spoken out on the attack, including NBPA president Chris Paul, who called for change “at all levels.”

“Praying for the family of Tyre Nichols,” the rapper’s post read. “Also praying for our city. #JusticeForTyre.” Also, he captioned it with the same hashtag and added some emojis, including open hands and praying hands.

Moreover, the police department fired five Memphis police officers from their post following a traffic stop. According to the department’s official statement, a “confrontation” occurred during the stop that caused Nichols to flee. Later, a second “confrontation” took place when authorities caught up to him.

“Our son ran because he was scared for his life,” his stepfather Rodney Wells told reporters. “And when you see the video you’ll see why he was scared for his life.

Furthermore, U.S. President Joe Biden issued a statement on Tyre Nichols’ death.

“Tyre’s family deserves a swift, full, and transparent investigation into his death,” the statement read. “As Americans grieve, the Department of Justice conducts its investigation, and state authorities continue their work, I join Tyre’s family in calling for peaceful protest. Outrage is understandable, but violence is never acceptable. Violence is destructive and against the law. It has no place in peaceful protests seeking justice.”

Also, attorney Ben Crump called footage from the January 7th stop “appalling” in a recent press conference.

“We join Tyre’s family in supporting the Department’s decision to terminate the five officers who brutalized him, ultimately causing his death,” he wrote with fellow attorney Antonio Romanucci. “This is the first step towards achieving justice for Tyre and his family. They must also be held accountable for robbing this man of his life and his son of a father.”

Still, what do you think of Moneybagg Yo’s message of prayers and justice to the family of Tyre Nichols? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, come back to HNHH for the latest updates and tributes regarding this heinous case.

Tyre Nichols Was Kicked In The Head, Beaten, Pepper Sprayed, & Tased By Police

After waiting weeks to see the surveillance and bodycam footage of the Tyre Nichols beating, the Memphis Police Department has revealed what occurred that fateful evening. On January 7, FedEx worker Tyre Nichols was pulled over for a traffic stop, allegedly accused of reckless driving. The department asserted Nichols fled from the scene and resisted arrest, resulting in officers using force.

However, activists didn’t take the department’s sorry at face value. Soon, the public began asking for footage of the altercation, and today (January 27), it was finally released.

View discretion is advised as this video will be disturbing to some viewers.

The City of Memphis released four videos showing the evolution of Nichols’s encounter with police. The first clip detailed the bodycam footage as police pulled the 29-year-old father over. Soon, things escalate, and an officer pulls him from his car and throws him to the ground. Several other officers are also on the scene, one tasing Nichols as others hold him down and shout orders. Another fired off pepper spray.

Viewers can see Tyre asking for the group to calm down, but soon, he runs off. In the second clip, the officers find Nichols’s location, where he is savagely beaten.

The incident also looked to be filmed from a security camera overhead. It showed multiple officers holding Nichols on the ground as another kicked him violently in the head. More soon followed, and another cop appeared with a baton. He repeatedly hits Nichols with the weapon.

Following a long ordeal, Nichols was left at the scene without medical attention for 20 minutes. His pain was visible. Three days later, he died from his injuries.

Tyre’s family has asked that any protest remain peaceful. They don’t want to see any more destruction, especially after viewing the horrific beating of their loved one.

Tyre Nichols, a father of a four-year-old, was also said to be an avid skateboarder who loved life. Additionally, according to reports, as he was beaten by officers, he called out for his mother three times.

Further, five officers have been arrested. Four have made bond while one is reportedly still incarcerated.

Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Justin Smith, Emmitt Martin III, and Desmond Mills Jr. all face charges of second-degree murder. They have also been charged with “aggravated assault – acting in concert, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct and one count of official oppression, court records show,” according to USA Today.

What was supposed to be a simple traffic stop resulted in the tragic death of Tyre Nichols. On January 7, Nichols was reportedly pulled over in Memphis for suspicion of reckless driving. Officers claim the 29-year-old fled, and following a chase, police “confronted” the man.

It isn’t clear what occurred during the “confrontation” that police describe, but Nichols was later hospitalized. His injuries were visible as it looked like he was severely beaten, and later, the skateboarding FedEx worker passed away.

USA Today further reported that Nichols did complain that he had shortness of breath. An autopsy also showed he “suffered extensive bleeding caused by a severe beating,” attorneys Ben Crump and Antonio Romanucci said in a joint statement. They represent the Nichols family.

Five officers involved were not only fired, but they were arrested and indicted.

Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Justin Smith, Emmitt Martin III, and Desmond Mills Jr. all face charges of second-degree murder. They have also been charged with “aggravated assault – acting in concert, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct and one count of official oppression, court records show.”

The public has called for the bodycam footage from the officers to be released. Officials have already looked at the videos, and several have expressed their ire with the officers’ behavior.

Additionally, FBI Director Chris Wray called the video of the incident “appalling.”

Protests have also already erupted, and Nichols’ family has asked for them to be peaceful. President Biden released a statement co-signing the sentiment.

“Tyre’s family deserves a swift, full, and transparent investigation into his death. As Americans grieve, the Department of Justice conducts its investigation, and state authorities continue their work, I join Tyre’s family in calling for peaceful protest. Outrage is understandable, but violence is never acceptable. Violence is destructive and against the law. It has no place in peaceful protests seeking justice.”

He further stated, “Public trust is the foundation of public safety and there are still too many places in America today where the bonds of trust are frayed or broken. Tyre’s death is a painful reminder that we must do more to ensure that our criminal justice system lives up to the promise of fair and impartial justice, equal treatment, and dignity for all. We also cannot ignore the fact that fatal encounters with law enforcement have disparately impacted Black and Brown people.”

The five officers have reportedly all bonded out of jail. Each is looking at upwards of 60 years in prison if convicted of the second-degree murder charge alone.

Memphis PD Address Death Of Tyre Nichols In New Statement

The Memphis Police Department has released a statement addressing the death of Tyre Nichols. The department has already fired five police officers involved in the traffic stop that led to his death.

In their new statement, the department says that they have reviewed footage of the incident. Additionally, they claim to be fully cooperating with US Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office in the investigation into the matter.

The Memphis PD has argued that a “confrontation” occurred during the traffic stop, resulting in Nichols fleeing. They say “another confrontation” occurred after they caught up to him, resulting in the incident.

Nichols’ stepfather, Rodney Wells, told reporters that his son had good reason to flee from the police.

“Our son ran because he was scared for his life,” Wells said, before adding, “And when you see the video you’ll see why he was scared for his life.”

Attorney Ben Crump said during a news conference that the footage of Tyre Nichols’ Jan. 7 arrest “is appalling. It is deplorable. It is heinous.”

Crump further expanded on the situation in a statement released with fellow attorney, Antonio Romanucci.

“We join Tyre’s family in supporting the Department’s decision to terminate the five officers who brutalized him, ultimately causing his death,” they wrote. “This is the first step towards achieving justice for Tyre and his family. They must also be held accountable for robbing this man of his life and his son of a father.”
