Brooklyn Nets Join Bradley Beal Trade Talk

On June 14, Shams Charania revealed that the Washington Wizards were working with franchise cornerstone Bradley Beal to find a trade the veteran would agree to. Beal has played his entire career in Washington after being drafted in 2012. However, despite Beal’s caliber, the Wizards had always let him down in terms of a supporting cast. After a handful of Conference Semifinal appearances in the late-2010s, Washington has just one playoff appearance in the last five years.

A variety of teams were immediately floated as good theoretical fits for Beal. However, Beal’s incredibly weighty contract ($207.7 million over the next four seasons) is a major part of the negotiations. Furthermore, Beal will be going from being the top player on the Wizards to like the second or third player on another team. A figure like $207.7 million is a lot of money for a guy who isn’t your best player. Despite this, the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks have both emerged as early suitors for the veteran’s services. They were subsequently joined by the Sacramento Kings. However, another Eastern Conference team has been linked with Beal.

Brooklyn Nets Join Beal Rumors

After a season spent collecting draft capital, the Brooklyn Nets have been vocal about their intention to build a contender around Mikal Bridges. They have a wealth of draft picks over the rest of the decade and the ability to build the team that best fits their vision. Beal would make an excellent, and reliable, veteran presence for what is likely to be a younger Nets team.

These latest rumors come courtesy of TNT’s Chris Haynes, who shared them on the #thisleague UNCUT podcast. While it’s unclear how serious or far along in their thinking the Nets are, they should be considered a potential suitor. This news is not the only Beal news of the day. In addition with the Nets joining the fray, the Wizards have reportedly granted Beal permission to speak with other teams. This is a major step forwards in the trade discussions. Furthermore, it indicates that the Wizards may be looking to get a deal completed before the NBA Draft. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

New Orleans Pelicans Confirm They Would Consider Trading Zion Williamson

After a week of infidelity allegations, the discussion around Zion Williamson has turned to whether the player is about to find himself on a new team. Trade rumors surrounding the 2019 first-overall pick emerged as league sources reported that the Pelicans were enamored with draft prospect Scoot Henderson. Henderson is a G-League star who is expected to be drafted in the top three picks of next week’s draft. The Pelicans currently pick at #14.

Beyond the Spurs picking generational talent Victor Wembanyama, at #1, the rest of the draft’s top-five is a complete unknown. The Hornets, Trail Blazers, Rockets, and Pistons are all reportedly open to hearing trade offers for picks two through five. Furthermore, the Hornets and Trail Blazers, the two teams Henderson will most likely land with, have been the most vocal in their willingness to trade out of the top three.

Pelicans Confirm Zion Is On The Table

There has been a flurry of activity in the past 24 hours about the potential of the Pelicans trading Zion. First, NBA insider Marc Stein announced that sources within the team had confirmed that they would consider trading Zion. It was the first time since the rumors began to swirl that the team acknowledged that Zion was theoretically available. However, since then, Stein has reported additional rumors regarding the player.

Speaking on his The Stein Line podcast on June 16, Stein revealed that the Hornets were looking to put together a package to acquire Zion. ““Based on what I’m hearing, yes, the Pelicans are legitimately considering… doesn’t mean they would 100 percent do it, but they are considering the prospect of trying to assemble a deal for Charlotte’s No. 2 pick that would feature Zion Williamson.” Gaining the second-overall pick would guarantee Henderson for the Pelicans. However, it would mean giving up their young star, who has shown that he is an elite player when healthy. Do you think the Pelicans will trade Zion? This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Sacramento Kings Express Interest In Bradley Beal

On June 14, Shams Charania revealed that the Washington Wizards were working with franchise cornerstone Bradley Beal to find a trade the veteran would agree to. Beal has played his entire career in Washington after being drafted in 2012. However, the Wizards have never been able to put a team around Beal that would contend in any meaningful way.

Now, new rumors indicate that a Western Conference team are also joining the mix.

Kings Reach Out To Wizards About Beal

According to Charania, the Sacramento Kings have had initial trade talks with the Wizards about acquiring Beal. Per Charania’s tweet, “it’s believed Beal would consider Sacramento given his no-trade clause.” The Kings snapped their 15-year playoff drought this season and appear to be a blossoming force in the Western Conference. The Kings are also only $50 million over the cap, which is a figure lower than both the Heat and the Bucks.

However, Charania noted that “right now there does not appear a clear pathway for the two sides.” This is likely a result of the Kings being unwilling to part with much of their young core, as they would want to add Beal as a veteran leader to that team. This would limit what the Kings could offer to the Wizards in exchange for Beal. Despite this, it’s a sign that Beal is a hot commodity. This could also be a good sign for the Chicago Bulls, who have reportedly begun to gauge interest in Zach LaVine. Where do you want to see Beal go? Miami Heat And Milwaukee Bucks Named As Bradley Beal Suitors

Despite this, a number of teams are starting to emerge as potential suitors.

Heat And Bucks Named Among Beal Suitors

Per reports from both Brian Windhorst and Shams Charania, the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks have both emerged as frontrunners for Beal’s services. Both teams are contenders, with the Heat coming over a Finals appearance. That should appeal to Beal, who holds a blanket no-trade clause. The problem is going to be Beal’s contract and what the teams are willing to give up for it. The Bucks are in a worse position right now. They are $87.7 million over the cap (Beal is owed $46.7 million in 2023/24). They also don’t have a lot of contracts to play with without giving up too much. Khris Middleton is an option. However, that requires both Middleton to exercise his player option and the Wizards to take a guy coming off major surgery.

Meanwhile, the Heat are $67.3 million over the cap. While the number is a little nicer, the Heat also do not have a lot of weighty contracts they could offload to Washington to balance out Beal’s. A hypothetical trade could force the Heat to give up a lot of good depth talent. Draft picks will also likely feature in the deal, which is another positive for Miami. The Bucks’ draft chest is very light for the next few years, meaning there are not a lot of premium picks to offer Washington. Meanwhile, the Heat do have a lot of picks at their disposal. Despite all this, this is a developing story and any updates can be found here at HotNewHipHop.

Bradley Beal Could Be Traded Amid Washington Wizards Rebuild

Bradley Beal has spent his entire career in DC. After a year with the Florida Gators, in which they reached the Elite Eight, the Wizards took Beal third overall in the 2012 draft. Since then, he has been a core part of a Wizards team that has never really been a contender.

After back-to-back second-round appearances in Beal’s second and third years on the team, the Wizards have been perennial bottom-feeders in the Eastern Conference. They’ve made the playoffs just three times since 2017, including just once in the last five seasons. In 2022/23, the team went 35-47 for the second consecutive year. The Wizards currently hold the eighth pick in the upcoming draft, but could they be about to add more premium capital?

Beal And Wizards Working On Trade

Per Shams Charania and Joshua Robbins, the Wizards and Beal are working together to find a trade for Beal, in the event that the team “elects to reset the roster in the near future.” ESPN is already floating that the Knicks and Sixers could be in the running, or at least interested in the services of, the veteran guard. Beal’s contract contains a no-trade clause, meaning that the Wizards will have to find a deal that Beal approves of to proceed. Charania’s language also implies that moving Beal is not an immediate concern, but something the Wizards are looking into as an option.

Speaking on Beal’s contract, the guard is entering the second year of a five-year deal. He will be owed $46.7 million this season and will be locked in until a player option year in 2026. While Beal does have plenty to bring to a team, finding a partner willing to deal could be difficult. With the no-trade clause in place and the Wizards’ status, Beal will likely want to be moved to a contender. That definitely narrows down the options. However, if the Wizards were to blow it up, the Blazers could also be a potential trade partner as they look to build a team around Damian Lillard. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Zion Williamson Floated As Trade Piece Amid Draft Rumors

The New Orleans Pelicans finished the 2022-23 season 42-40, marking their first winning since 2018. Despite falling to the Thunder in the Play-In tournament, it was a sign that the franchise was moving in the right direction. However, most of the season’s success was achieved without former first-overall pick Zion Williamson. Williamson, who has struggled with injuries since joining the league in 2019, played in just 29 games this season.

In the NBA Draft Lottery, the Pelicans drew the 14th overall pick. However, whether they stay there is another story. According to Shams Charania, the Pelicans are eager to make a trade that would give them the second or third pick in the draft. These picks are currently held by the Charlotte Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers respectively. However, what would the Pelicans be willing to give up in order to move that far up the draft board?

Zion Williamson Could Be Traded

If the Pelicans moved up, it would be to acquire G-League standout Scoot Henderson. However, a move from #14 to #2/#3 would require a lot of capital. Brian Windhorst addressed whether those trades could include Williamson on ESPN‘s Get Up. “I think it’s fair to say, based on my conversations, there’s an eye being kept towards whether the Pelicans would make Zion Williamson available ahead of trying to get into that top end of the draft.” However, it must be mentioned that Williamson has a poison pill trade clause in his contract until July 1.

A package to get into the top three would have to include a mix of favorable draft picks and good on-court talent. But how valuable is Williamson? Obviously, he’s an elite player when he’s on the floor. However, he has missed 214 games since he was drafted. That’s equivalent to 65.2% of all Pelicans games since his rookie season. Furthermore, the increasingly scandalous reports surrounding his personal life are likely to make a number of execs question whether he’s the sort of influence they want on the team. Despite these concerns, he will still likely be an enticing prospect. This applies especially to the Blazers, who are adamant about building a “win-now” team around Damian Lillard. Any updates on these rumors will be reported here on HotNewHipHop.

Damian Lillard Reveals Which Team He Wouldn’t Mind Being Traded To

Damian Lillard is a player who has stayed loyal to the Portland Trail Blazers for a very long time. Although the team has not been very good, he has still made it clear that he wants to be there. Overall, this is great news for fans of the team. However, they may just come a time when he is fed up with losing. Lillard is a player who should have a title by now. Or at least he should have at least competed for one. Of course, winning a title is hard, and not everyone can do it, but with the right pieces, Lillard could absolutely make a run.

As it stands, the NBA offseason isn’t that far away. Consequently, there are all sorts of hypotheticals going around in regard to potential trades. No one knows what is going to happen, however, fans cannot help but theorize what a Damian Lillard trade would look like. In fact, Lillard was asked about a potential trade on Showtime‘s The Last Stand. During the clip below, Lillard was presented with trades to the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, and even the Miami Heat.

Damian Lillard Speaks

Subsequently, Lillard revealed which of these trades actually interests him. As you can imagine, it was the trade to the Miami Heat that caught his attention. He said that he “obviously” would like to go there. Moreover, a big reason for that is he is friends with Bam Adebayo. Additionally, Lillard claimed that he would also be interested in the Nets because of Mikal Bridges. Typically, Lillard refuses to entertain these convos, but now, he seems to be changing course a bit.

That said, this is not some trade demand or even an actual rumor. It is simply the point guard engaging in hypotheticals. Hopefully, Trail Blazers fans don’t get hit with some brutal news a month down the line. Let us know which team you’d love to see Dame play with, in the comments section below. San Antonio Spurs Reportedly Looking To Acquire Another First-Round Pick

The San Antonio Spurs took a major step forward in their rebuild last week. On a tense night, the Spurs won out when they were granted the first pick in the NBA Draft lottery. That gave them the privilege of expected generational talent Victor Wembanyama. The French superstar has been the presumptive first-overall pick for years now.

The Spurs have missed the playoffs in the last four seasons and won just 22 games in the 2022/23 campaign. That’s an eight-game dropoff compared to the season prior. The most recent season included dismal 1-win months in November and February. However, moves during the season, which pointed to a tank job, have set up the Spurs nicely in terms of draft capital. However, recent rumors indicate the Spurs might not be done yet.

Spurs Looking For Another First Rounder

According to Rafael Barlowe of NBA Big Board, “The San Antonio Spurs are said to be working the phones looking for deals to acquire an additional first-round pick, preferably in the lottery, to add a point guard.” The rumor comes after reports that the Spurs met with PGs Cason Wallace and Amen Thompson at the NBA Combine.

Both players are intriguing prospects. However, both will likely come at a steep price. Thompson is expected to be off the board by the fourth pick, going either third or fourth. While the Spurs do have a wealth of picks, teams will be wary. No one wants to provide the Spurs with too many elite picks in this year’s stacked draft. Meanwhile, Kentucky’s Cason Wallace is expected to go early in the double-digit picks. While as not as steep a price, the Spurs can still expect to pay heavily to trade back up that high in the first round. This is just the latest in a bevy of trade stories surrounding the first few picks of the draft. The Blazers are reportedly willing to trade the third-overall pick in order to add an “elite” small forward. Meanwhile, the Rockets are fielding multiple calls about the fourth-overall pick.

Joel Embiid Trade Rumors Starting To Swirl

Despite the NBA playoffs reaching their climax, there is plenty of fuel for the rumor mill. Whether it’s the Suns low-key rebuilding or the Trail Blazers making major draft moves, no teams are safe from the rumors. NBA fans should prepare themselves for a monster offseason across the league. Of course, HotNewHipHop will have all the latest news in terms of moves and rumors.

A little further east, the Sixers are looking at an uncertain future. Despite having the reigning MVP, and seeming like one of the better teams during the regular season, Philadelphia sucked in the playoffs. After seeing off the Nets, the Sixers squandered multiple chances to see off the Celtics in the second round. That led to yet another second-round exit, and the departure of head coach Doc Rivers. However, Rivers may not be the only core piece leaving.

The Knicks Want Embiid

We already know that James Harden is not returning to Philadelphia. However, rumors are starting to swirl about another member of the team. Joel Embiid, star Sixers center and reigning MVP, has started to be linked with a move away from Philadelphia. While it’s pertinent to state that these are very early rumors right now, they could soon “grow legs”. Furthermore, this is coming from some of the most connected media voices in the game.

NBA insider Marc Stein responded to questions about the Knicks and Embiid in a recent Substack Q&A. He called the rumor “strictly media chatter” and that “There are no legs to it…YET.” However, this can be paired with a few other sources. The New York Post‘s Stefan Bondy claims that Embiid “is the guy to watch for the Knicks” and has been since midseason. Furthermore, Bondy also notes that the Boston series “only intensified that belief.” While there is no indication that Embiid wants to leave, the Knicks could offer a monster package. The team has plenty of young players and 11 first-round picks over the next seven years. Do you think Embiid will leave the Sixers? Let us know in the comments.

Suns Reportedly Set To Shop CP3 And DeAndre Ayton

The Phoenix Suns crashed out of the NBA playoffs on Thursday night with a 125-100 loss to the Denver Nuggets. After reaching the NBA Finals in 2021, the Suns have bowed out in the second round the past two seasons. However, it was supposed to be different this year, with the Suns going all-in to acquire Kevin Durant.

Now the team is faced with an offseason of tough decisions and bloated contracts. However, according to industry sources, the Suns are already making plans to try and recoup some of what they gave up to unsuccessfully win-now in 2023.

CP3 And Ayton Likely Gone From Suns

The Suns have multiple problems that need addressing. As much as they would likely love to build around Devon Booker, that’s harder than it sounds. The Suns are in a bad place cap-wise and are set to be screwed yet further if they can’t move players quickly. The first domino is Chris Paul. Paul has been with the Clippers since a November 2020 trade. However, Paul is 38 and will be owed $30 million in June. According to ESPN‘s Tim MacMahon, the Suns are likely to “aggressively shop” Paul in hopes of moving him before that June pay hike.

Then there’s DeAndre Ayton. While the 25-year-old center is another piece the Suns would love to build around, he is also the most appealing trade asset on the roster. He’s young, extremely talented, and on a team-friendly contract. If the Suns want to move on from Paul, they might have to throw Ayton in as well. The upside is that a deal of that magnitude could some much-needed draft capital back to Phoenix. The Nets own most of the Suns’ future draft picks currently. However, it remains to be seen exactly what the Suns will do next as they contemplate their future. What do you think the Suns should do? Let us know in the comments.
