When Tom Brady left the Patriots to join the Bucs, there were some tensions with the New England organization he helped transform into the NFL’s gold standard. However, there was never a doubt that eventually he would come back to Foxborough and be honored as the best player in franchise history.

Wednesday night was that night, as Patriots fans flocked to Gillette Stadium to see Brady inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame. Typically, a team Hall of Fame ceremony just involves a halftime or postgame ceremony during the season, but someone of Brady’s stature commands something a bit more. That’s not just getting his own night during the offseason, but bringing out some big stars to help mark the occasion. That started with Massachusetts native John Cena narrating a video that kicked off the ceremony.

It continued with the most surprising appearance of the night, as none other than Jay-Z performed “Public Service Announcement” to introduce the GOAT to the stage.

I have to say, Jay-Z sounds great here and despite it being a brief appearance to do one song before a team Hall of Fame ceremony, he doesn’t mail it in at all. That — and the fact he pulled up at all — is an indicator of the power of Tom Brady, who has the respect of just about everyone across the sports and entertainment world for what he did on the football field and his incredible longevity of greatness.

Jay-Z has become the face of the NFL when it comes to musical affiliation. The rapper’s company, Roc Nation, entered a partnership with the league in 2019 that has played a role in several half time shows. It was still surprising, however, to see Hov take the stage himself, and perform during Tom Brady’s Patriots Hall of Fame induction. The Brooklyn legend came out and shocked the crowd by rapping his 2003 song “Public Service Announcement” while Brady entered the stadium. It was appreciated by music fans, but it was especially appreciated by Brady himself.

The quarterback has voiced his adoration for Jay-Z on multiple occasions. He told Mass.Live that he was a “big fan” of Hov in 2014, and “Public Service Announcement” was the song that he chose as his theme whenever he stepped on the field. In particular, the lyrics: “Allow me to reintroduce myself.” There’s some fitting parallels between both men. Both Brady and Jay retired at the peak of their powers. Both returned and proved that they still had what it took to compete, further validating their “GOAT” status. Brady and Jay-Z also attended a breakfast that was organized by Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin by in May.

Jay-Z Opened The Ceremony With Brady’s Walkout Song

“Public Service Announcement” is a crucial song in Jay-Z’s catalog. The rapper discussed its importance in his 2010 memoir Decoded, and the interaction that led to its creation. He recalled a Village Voice writer criticizing his embrace of materialism in his music, and wrote the verses as a response. “It was a test of creativity and wit,” he wrote in the memoir. “I call rhymes like the first verse on ‘PSA’ Easter-egg hunts. If you just listen to it once without paying attention, you’ll brush past some lines… [They] can offer more meaning and resonance every time you listen to them.” Brady has obviously listened multiple times. He even threw up Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella sign during the induction performance.

Brady thanked those attending, and those watching, in an Instagram post before the induction. “Coming back to New England to celebrate what WE accomplished was so special,” he wrote in the caption. “And it’s a day that I’ll never forget. Being able to spend time with teammates, family, friends, coaches… And most importantly all the fans of Patriot nation is something that I’ll never take for granted.”

Along with Tom Brady, Jay-Z has been speaking with NFL rookies on managing high-level business and professional sports. Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Malik Nabers were among the NFL rookies that Hov and the former New England Patriots quarterback met with over the weekend for an “invaluable” sit-down that was arranged by Fanatics founder Michael Rubin. “Breakfast with Jay and Tom & $500k but seriously awesome morning with @tombrady @jayz and our @fanatics NFL rookies discussing sports and business!” Rubin said on Instagram with photos from the encounter.

The sitdown was documented by Rubin who shared his appreciation for Brady and Jay-Z doing it. Rubin also said, “Tommy and Jay thank you so much for the invaluable advice and knowledge you shared – this was such an incredible opportunity for these rooks before they take their first snap. Big things ahead for this group – can’t wait to watch you all crush it on and off the field!” Business partner and buddy of Rubin, Meek Mill, continued, saying, “I had that million dollar convo with Jigga in that same house i pray it works lol.”

Later, Rubin shared recordings from the gathering that included JAY-Z and Brady’s invaluable advice. “Your talent gets you there; your work ethic and discipline take you to where you want to be,” Beyonce’s husband told the rookies. He continued, “You gotta know who you are ’cause those moments are gonna come. You’re gonna be down 28-0 and you gotta say, ‘Aright, I know who I am. I’ma go get it.’” Tom Brady added in the clip “You’re gonna evolve or you’re not. You’re gonna keep evolving or you’re not. And if you’re not, the world still spins. If you’re forever curious, you’ll always keep getting better.”

Jay-Z and Tom Brady imparted some wise words to the rookies business wise. Tom Brady surely imparted some wisdom on how to make the most of your NFL journey. He even met up with the new Patriots rookie QB Drake May. Overall, it’s a pretty cool gesture for these mega-rich figures. To sit down with the next generation of moguls and athletes is invaluable in many ways. The NFL is a tough place to survive. Nevertheless, the present rookies are a talented bunch and will surely leave a mark on the league. Overall, it will be interesting to see how the rookies use the advice.

Belichick did not restrain himself to only shooting shots at Tom Brady. During his set, he made a playful jab at Gronkowski’s performance. He joked, “A lot of people connect me to the saying, ‘Do your job,’ and telling people to do their job. Gronk, I’ve been watching you on FOX NFL Sunday, and I’m begging you: Stop doing your job. Do another job. Do somebody else’s job!”

Throughout the evening, Tom Brady’s divorce from Gisele Bündchen was savagely joked about. The divorce jokes had everyone gasping and laughing. Well, Gisele did not find the jokes funny. Gisele is reportedly very upset by what transpired on Sunday. 

The supermodel was reportedly very upset by all the remarks made about her breakup with the NFL star in Sunday night’s episode of “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady” on Netflix. Everyone joked about the infamous split, including Brady’s former teammate Drew Bledsoe, comedians Nikki Glaser and Kevin Hart. The majority of the comedians in attendance cruelly teased Brady for being replaced by jiu-jitsu teacher Joaquim Valente. When Gisele learned about the jokes, she was reportedly assisting relatives in dealing with the recent disastrous floods in Brazil. The jokes seemed to have compounded what was already a difficult time for Gisele.

Gisele Upset At Divorce Jokes At Tom Brady’s Roast

A source close to Gisele told PEOPLE that Gisele Bündchen was “deeply disappointed” by the disrespect toward her and her family. The source said, “As always, [her] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted.” Brady did not seem super bothered about the jokes, as he went along with and laughed at most of them. Nikki Glaser has since explained that the only topic that was off-limits was Tom Brady’s children. 

Tom Brady did take issue with one joke. Comedian and roast master Jeff Ross made a joke about New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft. This was a serious matter as Kraft was facing first-degree misdemeanor charges for soliciting prostitution at a day spa called Orchids of Asia in 2019. Brady got up and told Jeff Ross never to joke about that again. Tom Brady’s Will Smith moment came in defense of his former boss, not his wife. Overall, Gisele Bündchen seems to have taken the roast much worse than Brady.

Since Aaron Hernandez was mentioned in negative ways several times during Tom Brady’s roast, his ex-fiance is furious. Shayanna Jenkins, the mother of the late Patriots star’s sole child, expressed her disappointment that her late fiancé was the target of several jokes during the Netflix show. She feels this ultimately made his tragic tale seem trivial. She says, “It’s sad that I’m trying to raise my children in such a cruel world.” Shayanna continued by saying that Even though Aaron is no longer with them a lot of people have opinions about him and his life. Their 11-year-old daughter is still very much a part of her life and is affected by it all.

She adds that since her daughter is now a preteen and has grown up, she will undoubtedly witness what was said about her father on Sunday come from a group of adult men who were amused by his untimely demise and from a person she looked up to. Shayanna believes Aaron ought to have been off-limits during the roast, but he wasn’t. Throughout the roast, Tom and other people make several direct and indirect references to Aaron. Julian Edelman, Aaron’s former teammate, also made a hanging joke. Nikki Glaser joked about Aaron wearing a ring around his neck. The jokes garnered gasps from the crowd but were ultimately laughed at. Aaron took his own life in prison after being convicted of murder. It was a dark time for the New England Patriots. They now seem pretty comfortable making jokes about his tragic story.

Tom Brady thought one comic crossed the line. After enduring several jokes about his divorce from his ex-wife Giselle Bundchen, Tom did not take kindly to Jeff Ross’s joke about Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Craft was in legal trouble a couple of years ago for alleged solicitation at a massage parlor where he was believed to be videotaped doing illegal activities. Jeff Ross joked about the “message,” and Tom walked over to him like Will Smith and told him, “Don’t say that sh*t again.” Overall, It seems there were some topics that were off-limits.

Last night, at Tom Brady’s Netflix roast, Tom made some jokes about Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband, Kanye West. Netflix’s latest entry into its comedy series The Greatest Roast of All Time, the NFL icon became the latest figure to be roasted. Kim Kardashian was a presenter at the roast, and after she was booed by the crowd, she delivered her three-minute set. She addressed the rumors that she and Tom Brady had dated in one of her jokes. Tom Brady ended the night giving back roasts to everyone who had jokes for him, including Miss Kardashian. Brady made a joke at the expense of Kim K that involved her ex-husband, Kanye West.

When it came to Brady’s turn to grab the mic and hand out some roasts himself, he joked about Kanye’s parenting skills. Brady hit back at Kim K, saying: “Thank you so much for being here. The Tom Brady roast was a star-studded affair. Some of Brady’s former teammates, Julian Edelman, Randy Moss, and Rob Gronkowski attended the event. Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick even attended and made an appearance during the roast. Comedians and actors like Kevin Hart, Will Ferrell, Ben Affleck, and roast master Jeff Ross., also made appearances. Brady took a lot of jokes on the chin. Almost every presenter made jokes about his divorce from Gisele Bundchen, which were uncomfortable for the former QB.

Brady was typically a good sport, but it seemed like one of Jeff Ross’s jokes about Patriots owner Robert Kraft bothered him. Ross joked, “So Tom became a Patriot and moved up to New England, and on the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft‘s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?’” Brady walked over to Ross and told the comedian in his ear, “Don’t say that sh*t again.” The joke alludes to Kraft’s 2019 prosecution for allegedly requesting illegal acts from a Florida massage parlor. Tom did not like it one bit.

Kim Kardashian took part in Netflix’s live event, The Roast Of Tom Brady. The roast featured comedians like Kevin Hart, Nikki Glaser, and roast master Jeff Ross. Additionally, it featured some of Brady’s former teammates, like Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. Kim K donned a black dress and some champagne as she made her way to the stage to roast the Hall of Fame quarterback. The reality star then proceeded to get relentlessly booed by the crowd. 

 The audience at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles booed her very loudly when she started to address fellow presenter Kevin Hart. Kardashian appeared embarrassed and furious at the backlash over her attendance at the event. The boos were obviously not expected by Kim K, but she had to compose herself and deliver her roasts to Brady. The jeering eventually went away, and she was able to get into her set. Despite the boos, she uncomfortably hung in there and addressed the rumors she and Tom Brady dated, among other things.

Kim Kardashian brought up the rumors that she and Brady were formerly romantically involved. “Speaking of Tom and I dating, I know there were some rumors that we were, and I’d never say if we did or not, I’d just release the tape,” she joked of the dating rumors. Kardashian also made a humorous comparison between Brady and Olympic champion Caitlyn Jenner during the roast. She said of Tom and Caitlyn, “I know the transition from the NFL must have been really hard, but I think my stepdad is a great example for you.” She continued, “She’s one of the greatest athletes in the world who’s proved you can do anything in this next chapter. You can become a commentator, a far-right Republican, or even a strong, confident woman.”

Kardashian finished her set off with some words for Tom Brady. She jokingly concluded, “I’m just here tonight to support you and celebrate you.
