Tim Westwood is one of the most notable British radio DJs. However, growing whispers has put the BBC Radio media personality’s legacy into question. While Westwood has used his popularity to boost the profile of several musicians including Skepta, multiple women claim he also used his famed to pressure them with “unwanted sexual behavior” between 1992 and 2017.

Now, British law enforcement seems to have stepped in. According to BBC, the investigation has been escalated. The outlet claims officers have “submitted the case to the Crown Prosecution Service” (CPS).

With the ball in CPS’ hands, insiders believe Westwood could face criminal charges should the governmental agency find proper grounds for it.

A statement retrieved from Andy Furphy, Lead investigator Det. Supt, only further those flames. “A file of evidence has now been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and our team continues to make inquiries, with support from prosecutors,” said Furphy. “We will thoroughly and properly investigate sexual offenses as part of our commitment to making London safer for women and girls.”

Although a decision hasn’t been made as of today (November 9), it is only a matter of time before the agency makes the final call.

Since news of the allegations were shared, Westwood has maintained his innocence vehemently denying the accusations.

“Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behavior,” said a legal representative for Westwood. “In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially. Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”

Tim Westwood Sparks Diddy Comparisons Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

It’s no secret that Diddy has just begun what will likely be a long and arduous legal battle. The Bad Boy founder was arrested in September on charges related to alleged sex trafficking and racketeering. He could face a hefty prison sentence if he’s found guilty. He’s currently behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting a trial that’s expected to begin in May of next year.

In addition to this, he’s facing several lawsuits from women and men accusing him of sexual assault, abuse, and more. He’s far from the only prominent artist facing disturbing allegations these days, however. British DJ Tim Westwood was also accused of sexual misconduct by various women in 2022. According to BBC, UK investigators recently submitted evidence to prosecutors who will now determine whether or not to bring charges against him.

“A file of evidence has now been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and our team continues to make enquiries, with support from prosecutors,” Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy explained. “We will thoroughly and properly investigate sexual [offenses] as part of our commitment to making London safer for women and girls.”

A CPS spokesperson was also able to confirm they “received the Metropolitan Police Service regarding allegations of non-recent sexual [offenses] allegedly committed by a man in his 60s.” The Met Police also issued a statement, revealing that “a man in his 60’s has been interviewed under caution on four separate occasions. The offences are alleged to have occurred in London between 1982 and 2016”. What do you think of Tim Westwood sparking Diddy comparisons? Tim Westwood’s Alleged Sexual Misconduct Leads To Victim’s Hotline

Tim Westwood has been laying low since his alleged sexual misconduct came to the forefront last year. Now, a British attorney has launched a victim’s hotline to start her investigation on the infamous DJ. Reportedly, attorney Gemma White KC was initially commissioned by the BBC to conduct a full independent investigation into Westwood. The hotline launched yesterday (April 20th). From now til May 19th, the hotline- which is only available in the UK- will be open 24 hours a day. There, people can call and share their experiences with Westwood.

The hotline aims to be an “expanded way for people to come forward” said White. Secondly, the initiative follows an investigation by The Guardian and the BBC. They found a history of allegedly inappropriate and predatory behavior by Tim Westwood between 1992 and 2017. One complaint was reported to the police. Through his legal team, Westwood denied the allegations made by seven women. According to his attorney, “Our client confirms that there has never been any complaint made against him.” He continued, “Whether officially or unofficially, relating to claims of inappropriate behaviour of the nature described.”

Since the allegations have come to light, it’s been quiet for Tim Westwood. One victim by name of Esther came forward and shared her experience with the freestyle DJ. She revealed that Westwood allegedly would have sex with her on several occasions in the ’90s when she was just 14, below the age of consent in England (Ew). Since then, Tim Westwood recently has officially stepped down from his weekly Saturday Night radio show on Capital Xtra “until further notice” after the allegations surfaced.

Tim Westwood, now 64, previously hosted BBC Radio 1’s inaugural rap show between 1994 and 2013. You may have seen some of rap’s heavy hitters bless his studio with a dope freestyle. He was also the host of MTV’s Pimp My Ride UK in the early 2000s. Thanks to the launch of the victim’s hotline, alleged victims can now come forward and share their stories to help with the investigation.
