Recently, one Latto fan participated in her “Brokey” challenge in hopes of winning $10K. Unfortunately, however, her situation quickly took a turn for the worse. After her video went viral, she hopped online to reveal that she’d been fired from her job at Waffle House, where she filmed the challenge. She got emotional, explaining that she’d been let go within a day of posting the video, despite working there for six years.
“I’m so pissed,” she captioned the post. “Like yall don’t understand the bullsh*t i done through with this company to fire me over a video that was literally rooting on them. bs. straight bs.” While this surely put a serious damper on the fan’s day, Latto was quick to cheer her up.
The fan later posted a second part of her video, which features the Atlanta rapper herself. In it, she hands the fan $10K, crowning her the winner of the challenge. It’s unclear whether or not she thinks it was all worth it, but the fan certainly appeared to be in good spirits as she accepted the cash. Latto first started the challenge in response to social media users believing she was making fun of hard working people with her track. She asked supporters to make videos to the song at their jobs, noting that this wasn’t the case.
“I hate that y’all think I was calling hard workers brokeys,” she Tweeted earlier this month. “So I got $10k for whoever makes the best video at their job to brokey & I’ll fly u out to be in the music video…no mo waiting til ur bday to go outta town. Tag me & hashtag #Brokey so I can see them all.” What do you think of Latto’s “Brokey” challenge getting a Waffle House employee fired? Are you surprised or not? What about the rapper crowning her the winner of the challenge and giving her $10K? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.
Earlier this year a new viral challenge for parents on TikTok took the platform by storm. It’s called the Bad Word Challenge and saw parents leaving their children alone in a room with the promise that they can say a single swear word. The results have been hilarious and show a variety of different attitudes from the various kids who try it. Some celebrity children even got in on it, with XXXTENTACION’s son being more interested in showing off his outfit than saying any bad words.
NBA Youngboy’s son also got to try his hand at the challenge, though the rapper probably wishes he hadn’t. In the hilarious video Youngboy’s son makes pretty generous use of the opportunity unleashing a pretty excited tirade of bad words. Though the results are hilarious, the rapper himself doesn’t seem to think so. He pulled up in the comments saying “ma tell him I don’t want to see this no more.” Check out the video of his challenge and Youngboy’s reaction to it below.
Whenever the subject of parenting comes up publicly for Youngboy he gets some backlash from fans. That’s because of a comment he made in an interview earlier this year. He described himself as not being “big” on the very concept of fatherhood. Those comments are thrown back at him nearly every time something similar to this bad word challenge happens.
NBA Youngboy has already dropped one new project this year. He unleashed the label compilation Compliments Of Gravedigger Mountain earlier this month. But unsurprisingly, it didn’t take him long to confirm his next project. Last week, Youngboy announced his new album I Just Got A Lot On My Shoulders and shared the album’s lead single “Catch Him.” What do you think of NBA Youngboy’s reaction to his son’s bad word challenge? Do you think he has any right to be upset given his previously established views on fatherhood? Let us know in the comment section below.
One of the funniest viral trends sweeping through TikTok recently targets parents. The challenge is built around them leaving the room with the promise that their kids can say one bad word while they’re gone. Rappers have already gotten a hold of the trans with a variety of different results. NBA Youngboy’s son got to try the challenge and unloaded more than one bad word. His mother hilarious reacted that he “did too much” when she came back into the room. By comparison, XXXTENTACION’s son skipped on the opportunity to say any bad words at all.
Now, NLE Choppa is the newest rapper to do the challenge. He set it up with his daughter and she did take the chance to say a bad word, but she did it in perhaps the most charming and polite way possible. Fans in the comments couldn’t help but note just how adorable Choppa’s daughter is in the video. “She’s so polite” and “I done awwwww she said it so politely” two of the top comments on the post note. Check out the adorable new video and the fan reactions to it below.
Last month, NLE Choppa threw his weight behind a strange rap beef. Yasiin Bey appeared on a podcast and described Drake’s music as being closer to pop than rap because you hear it played in stores while shopping. Choppa came to Drake’s defense in the beef and stood up for his rap cred.
Earlier this year, Choppa teamed up with DJ BOOKER for a new collaborative project. The Chosen Ones is just seven tracks long but spawned a few hit songs with tracks like “MEM” and “Purge On Em.” It’s following up his new album Cottonwood 2 which dropped last year. What do you think of NLE Choppa’s daughter doing the one bad word challenge? Which rapper’s version of the video do you think has been the funniest so far? Let us know in the comment section below.
TikTok’s greatly evolved since it took the world by storm during the COVID-19 lockdown. The app has provided users with a creative outlet to share their talents, ideas, and experiences. However, while TikTok has brought many users moments of joy and entertainment, it has also witnessed the emergence of some shocking challenges. These dangerous trends have often posed significant risks to the safety and well-being of its users. Several dangerous TikTok trends have emerged over the years, and their consequences have been detrimental to many. As a matter of fact, some TikTok challenges have resulted in death.
The Nutmeg Challenge gained popularity in 2022, encouraging TikTok users to ingest an excessive amount of ground nutmeg, in the hopes of experiencing its hallucinogenic effects. Many users followed this trend blindly, ignorant of the fact that large quantities of nutmeg have terrible side effects. Subsequently, many TikTok users suffered nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and toxic reactions after attempting the challenge. Importantly, an overdose of nutmeg can also lead to serious health complications, including heart problems and seizures. The promotion of this irresponsible behavior as a trend can have very dire consequences.
The crate challenge became a viral sensation on TikTok and reached its peak in August 2021. The challenge involves stacking milk crates into a makeshift staircase and attempting to walk or run up and down them. As the crates are usually unstable and can collapse easily, it led to participants falling and sustaining severe injuries such as broken bones, sprains, and head trauma. During this period, many hospitals warned against participating in the dangerous challenge as it had sent many individuals to the emergency room.
5. Extreme Dieting And Body Shaming Challenges (2018)
Another dangerous trend that has plagued TikTok is body shaming and the promotion of extreme diets. The trend was widely lambasted for promoting eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. Users were encouraged to create content that promotes unhealthy eating habits and excessive exercise in order to achieve unrealistic body standards. The trend often glamorized these unrealistic body standards and body shamed plus-size people. Furthermore, the trend was criticized for having severe repercussions on the physical and mental healths of those who consume this content, especially vulnerable individuals.
4. The Cha-Cha Slide Challenge (2020)
TikTok has seen a surge of car-related trends that involve car surfing and dangerous stunt driving. However, the Cha-Cha Slide challenge is on another level. It involves participants listening to the popular Cha-Cha Slide song while driving and following the lyrics with their cars. Given the lyrics, this led to many cars erratically swerving on the road and veering into opposite lanes. Moreover, some participants opted to participate in the TikTok challenge on busy roads. Nonetheless, even those who “played it safe” on empty roads were not, in fact, safe. The reckless behavior not only served to endanger the lives of those involved, but also posed a serious threat to the lives of the other road users. Tragically, accidents related to this challenge resulted in severe injuries, which emphasized the need for responsible behavior both on and off the platform.
The Choking Game, also known as the Blackout Challenge, went viral on TikTok in 2020. This disturbing trend involved participants intentionally choking themselves. They restricted their airflow to achieve a momentary high, or sense of euphoria. Some of these participants employed the use of belts, ropes, or their own hands to strangle themselves. Subsequently, users were reported to have ended up unconscious as a result. This life-threatening and irresponsible “game” further proved that TikTok needed to greatly improve its curation of appropriate content.
2. The Skull Breaker Challenge (2020)
The Skull Breaker Challenge is one of the most notorious TikTok challenges ever. Also known as the Jump Trip challenge, it is a hazardous prank that gained popularity in 2020. The challenge involves three individuals standing in a row. When the person in the middle jumps, the other two on the sides will kick the middle one’s feet from under them, causing the unsuspecting victim to fall hard on their head or back. These pranks often resulted in injuries such as concussions, broken bones, skull fractures, and spinal injuries. Moreover, the trend was greatly bashed because many participants had no idea they were even partaking in it. This further emphasized the need for responsible content creation, as the challenge infamously resulted in a teen breaking her neck.
The appeal of playing with fire exists on and off TikTok. The Fire Challenge led to many users engaging in life-threatening activities, and even suffering terrible burns. The challenge involved participants drenching themselves in flammable substances, setting themselves on fire, and recording it. Although participants were expected to immediately put out the fire, this became difficult for some, due to panic and smoke inhalation. Many people have since been hurt by this challenge. Most notably, a then-12-year-old Tamiyah Landers saw the challenge on YouTube, participated, and suffered severe burns.
The two creators behind the TikTok “Cuff It” challenge that went viral in August of last year have not yet received tickets to Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” tour. Users (@maycsteele) and Kaitlyn (@ogpartyhardy26) posted a video dancing to the Beyoncé track “CUFF IT,” and shortly after, thousands of users followed suit. The pair shared a video on TikTok this week, claiming that they’re waiting. “Us waiting for Renaissance tickets to be sent to us after creating the ‘cuff it challenge,’” text over the video of the users reads.
In September of last year, Beyoncé shared her favorite “Cuff It” challenge videos to her Instagram. Her story featured 25 of the singer’s top picks, including those posted by professional dancers. Beyoncé kicked off her “Renaissance” tour in support of the 2022 album in May of this year, with a performance in Stockholm, Sweden. She was joined by her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, as well as her husband Jay-Z. The tour’s opening night led to some commotion, with the setlist leaking online prior to the show and one fan being arrested.
Beyoncé thanked a super fan at one performance this month, who claims that the show was her 35th Beyoncé concert. In response to the shoutout from Queen B, the fan posted “BEYONCÉ THANK YOU AGAIN.” She went on to say, “thanks to the person next to me who filmed this. Bey gave me love when she saw me again.” The fan also shared that she is, “Thankful for all the shows, travels, and moments with her.”
A clip of Beyoncé’s security guard, Julius, has also gone viral recently. Fans went crazy over the bodyguard. One user wrote, “Not Julius about to be put on probation because Beyoncé ain’t liking him getting the attention.” Earlier this week, another clip from the “Renaissance” tour got some attention, featuring the singer’s mother, Tina Knowles. The video shows a fan being shushed by Knowles, who was attending her daughter’s Mother’s Day performance. Beyoncé also shared a post yesterday announcing that she plans to expand her empire with a new hair venture. Although the particulars surrounding the venture remain unclear, she wrote to fans that she, “can’t wait for [them] to experience what [she’s] been creating.”
Jacob Stevens, 13 years old, after participating in an alleged Tik Tok Challenge where young adults take Benadryl.
Jacob was at home with friends when he ingested the over-the-counter medication. Sadly, he was on a ventilator for about a week before he passed away. His friends were recording him as he was actively partaking in the challenge when his body began to seize. The challenge encourages viewers to take as many as 12 tablets at a time to induce hallucinations. For perspective, the maximum allowed dose in a 24-hour period is six tablets for children 6 to under 12 years of age and 12 tablets for adults and children over 12 years of age.
In a statement to CNN, TikTok said, “Our deepest sympathies go out to the family. At TikTok, we strictly prohibit and remove content that promotes dangerous behavior with the safety of our community as a priority. We have never seen this type of content trend on our platform and have blocked searches for years to help discourage copycat behavior. Our team of 40,000 safety professionals works to remove violations of our Community Guidelines and we encourage our community to report any content or accounts they’re concerned about.”
The parent company of Benadryl, Johnson & Johnson, has labeled the challenge as dangerous, and released the following statement, “We understand that consumers may have heard about an online ‘challenge’ involving the misuse or abuse of diphenhydramine. We are working with TikTok and other social platforms to remove content that showcases this behavior. We will look to partner across industry and with key stakeholders to address this dangerous behavior.”
In 2020, a 15-year-old Oklahoma girl lost her life after attempting the challenge. At the time, her aunt shared a social media post and wrote, ”This needs to stop taking our kids or putting them in the hospital.” That was the first reported case of death from the social media stunt.
The FDA states, ”Consumers, parents, and caregivers should store diphenhydramine and all other OTC and prescription medicines up and away and out of children’s reach and sight.”
A new TikTok trend has killed off many of your favorite very-alive celebrities, and Angela Bassett, unfortunately, was caught in the chaos. There are several trends on the popular app that gain worldwide attention, but when people began killing off the rich and famous, some people didn’t appreciate the viral moment. Recently, we reported on Angela Bassett’s 16-year-old son Slater getting caught up in the trend. It resulted in his tearful apology after tricking his mother into believing Michael B. Jordan had died.
As we recall, Bassett and Jordan famously starred together in the Black Panther films. Slater filmed his mother’s shocked reaction to learning that someone she considered family was allegedly no longer alive.
When it was revealed that Slater was pranking the Waiting to Exhale icon, he soon returned with an apology video.
“I apologize to Michael B. Jordan’s entire family, his extended family, and him directly as he is an idol of mine,” Slater said in his clip. “Taking part in a trend like this is completely disrespectful. I don’t wish any bad ramifications upon his family nor my parents, as they deserve none of the backlash.”
While at the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Creative Impact Awards, Entertainment Tonight spoke with the actress about the controversy. It seems as if it’s something that she’s also ready to put behind her and her family.
“We all make mistakes, own up to them, take responsibility. Then hold your head up and move forward,” Bassett said.
Meanwhile, although Jordan hasn’t said a peep about the Bassett controversy, he does have big plans on the horizon. It was announced last week that on January 28, he would act as the host of Saturday Night Live. The musical guest for that episode will be none other than Lil Baby.
