HER Played An Impromptu Ukulele Cover Of ‘Beauty And The Beast’ On ‘Fallon’

Soulful R&B star HER is all set to make history as the first Filipina to portray Disney princess Belle in ABC’s television special adaptation of Disney’s animated classic Beauty And The Beast. The 30th-anniversary celebration is set to air on Thursday, December 15 at 8 pm ET and stream the next day on Disney+. HER will make her appearance credited under her real name, Gabriella Wilson. Last night, she appeared on The Tonight Show to talk about making her childhood dream come true and wound up playing an impromptu ukulele cover of the film’s Grammy-winning title track.

HER knows a thing or two about winning Grammys. She’s already got some hardware for her protest anthem, “I Can’t Breathe” (along with an Oscar for the Judas And The Black Messiah track “Fight For You”), but she’s also nominated this year after co-writing “Good Morning Gorgeous” with Mary J. Blige. During her interview last night, in lieu of showing a clip of the show — which will air live and so there wasn’t one available — Jimmy Fallon pulled the ukulele from behind his desk, handing it over, and letting Ms. Wilson shine. Jimmy joined in, harmonizing admirably with the veteran performer (he’s been doing this for some time, himself) and the audience was clearly delighted. Check it out above.

Baby Tate Gets The Spotlight In Babyface’s Groovy ‘Tonight Show’ Performance Of ‘Don’t Even Think About It’

It has appeared that Baby Tate is set for a huge breakout for some time and with no less a music industry titan than Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds backing her, that eventuality is looking closer than ever. Both Babies stopped by The Tonight Show to perform Babyface’s new single “Don’t Even Think About It,” which prominently features Baby Tate. She straight-up steals the show, standing front-and-center in a floor-length aquamarine feather boa jacket with her face beat to the gawds, rapping and showing off her impressive singing chops backed by Babyface and The Roots.

The timing is impressive as well. While the duo is ostensibly there to promote Babyface’s upcoming 11th(!) studio album Girls’ Night Out, with the longtime R&B legend ceding the spotlight to Baby Tate, fans will undoubtedly find themselves encountering her own mixtape, Mani/Pedi, which drops this Friday, September 30 on Warner Records. It could very well be the catalyst to that expected breakout after she spent over a year promoting it with singles like “Pedi,” “S.L.O. (Slut Him Out),” “Dancing Queen,” and “Ain’t No Love” with 2 Chainz. Fellow Atlanta native Kali is also set to appear on the project, which features 14 tracks and follows Tate’s 2020 EP After The Rain.

Kid Cudi Had Ti West Edit ‘X’ So His Mom Could Watch It

With his new multimedia project Entergalactic coming out Friday, Kid Cudi stopped by The Tonight Show to talk about the upcoming project, perform one of its songs with Ty Dolla Sign, and share adorable stories about his family with host Jimmy Fallon.

One of those stories involved another of Cudi’s acting roles from earlier this year in the horror film X. Because of the film’s explicit nature — it’s about a film crew being killed off while trying to shoot an X-rated movie at an elderly couple’s farm — Cudi jokes that he asked director Ti West to make a “mommy edit” so he could screen it for his mom. To his surprise, the director came through, asking for his mom’s address so he could send her the cleaned-up version of the film.

Cudi also explained his and his daughter’s made-up language, which consists mainly of “meeps” and other nonsense sounds. Then, he joined Entergalactic co-star Ty Dolla Sign (a lot of Tys/Tis in Cudi’s contact list, eh?) onstage to perform “Willing To Trust” from the musical side of the project.

Jack Harlow Will Co-Host ‘The Tonight Show’ When His Tour Comes To New York City

Jack Harlow’s star continues to rise. After performing at and co-hosting the MTV VMAs, the Louisville native is stepping into another new role: Late-night host. Harlow will co-host next Thursday night’s (October 6) episode of The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon when his Come Home The Kids Miss You tour hits New York City. According to a press release, he’ll help Jimmy deliver the episode’s monologue, introduce musical guests Quavo & Takeoff, and interview the night’s guest Dwyane Wade.

Harlow kept flying high in 2022 as he released his sophomore album, Come Home The Kids Miss You, after racking up his first-ever career No. 1 alongside Lil Nas X for “Industry Baby.” Harlow’s follow-up single, “First Class,” repeated the feat, giving him his first-ever No. 1 as a lead artist, and achieved the impressive accomplishment of returning to No. 1 a few weeks later, making three weeks in total. He also secured his first lead acting role in the remake of White Men Can’t Jump and got his own meal at KFC.

Even the bumps in the road have turned into victories for Jack. After accidentally insulting scores of R&B fans with his surprise at Brandy and Ray J’s relation, he recruited the elder Norwood to perform her fiery freestyle over “First Class” with him at the BET Awards.

Catch Jack Harlow as co-host of The Tonight Show on 10/6.

John Legend Doubles Down On His Chicken And Pancakes Advocacy On ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’

John Legend is undeniably talented, but the world learned back in January that he has another gift: getting into food debates. On Friday’s visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host brought up his infamous Instagram post where he advocated for chicken and pancakes over chicken and waffles. Legend was unfazed by the inquiry and doubled down on his take.

When Fallon asked Legend why he prefers chicken and pancakes, he simply said that the texture difference is better because chicken and waffles use a similar batter. After showing a blown-up graphic of the Legend artist’s Instagram post, Fallon pulled out a plate of chicken and pancakes from the restaurant Bubby’s for the two to eat together.

Upon trying it himself, Fallon expressed approval. The two even asked band mambers Questlove and Black Thought for their take, and the legendary artists both agreed that the dish was enjoyable.

Elsewhere on the show, John Legend performed “All She Wanna Do” from his new album Legend and he and Fallon relived their fake R&B glory days in a hilarious segment showing three different music videos from their (again, fake) ’90s group Color Me Interestedd.

John Legend And Jimmy Fallon Relive Their (Fake) R&B Group Glory Days In A Hilarious ‘The Tonight Show’ Segment

John Legend is no stranger to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and he and the host were very happy to see one another on the heels of the R&B singer’s eighth studio album Legend. What many don’t know is that they were previously part of an R&B group called Color Me Interestedd in the ’90s. They don’t know this because it’s not actually true. In a hilarious The Tonight Show segment, Legend and Fallon relived their fake R&B group glory days.

The two began the segment by saying that they were a bit too sexy, and treated the crowd to a clip of their music video for “Girl Come Over Tonight.” Legend sported a high flat top, Fallon had long, lush hair, and both were clad in funky suits as they sang corny lyrics about watching Jeopardy with women. As the clip closed, they both agreed that they weren’t sexy enough at the time. Fallon countered with their second video for “Get Close To Me,” where they both courted women by asking them to check if there was food in their teeth.

Once again, they agreed that they missed the mark but were sure that their third video would quell their retrospective concerns. They played the video for “I Wanna Feel You Up And Down,” in which the duo sang to women about inspecting their bodies for moles that could potentially be cancerous.

Though the group and their songs weren’t actually real, the laughs from the crowd were.

John Legend Brings A Dance Party To ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ With ‘All She Wanna Do’

John Legend is not only a true showman; he also knows the key to women’s hearts. While downtempo R&B is ideal for romantic nights, it’s upbeat music that makes them feel alive at an energetic party. Flanked by women in sequined dresses and his backup singers, the “Green Light” artist performed “All She Wanna Do” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Though he stood in one place while belting into his microphone, Legend still managed to show off some of his dance moves. “I told her ‘You’re the love of my night / I won’t stop ’til you’re the love of my life / I won’t stop ’til you’re the one that I’m takin’ home / One I’ve been waitin’ for’,” Legend sang in the bridge as women danced around him.

John Legend’s visit to The Tonight Show came on the heels of the release of his double album Legend. His eighth full-length release features Rick Ross, JID, Saweetie, Jhene Aiko, Ty Dolla Sign, and more. Legend was preceded by “Dope,” “Honey,” and “All She Wanna Do.”

Offset Performs ‘Code’ And ‘54321’ While Promoting His Show ‘The Hype’ On ‘The Tonight Show’

Quavo and Takeoff, aka 2/3 of Migos, announced their duo album Only Built For Infinity Links earlier today, but they aren’t the only members of the Atlanta trio dropping new music soon. Offset, the third leg of the Migos tripod, has also been gearing up for a solo project, releasing the singles “54321” and “Code” in anticipation. Last night, he stopped by the Tonight Show to perform a medley of the new songs and talk with Jimmy Fallon about his other projects like his show The Hype and his and Cardi B’s son Wave’s over-the-top first birthday celebration.

In explaining his reasoning for launching The Hype, Offset talked about how he wants to give a platform to streetwear designers while preparing them for the trials of breaking into the world of fashion, which can be brutal for up-and-coming designers. He also recalled how he discovered his oldest son has been making beats on the side and his plans to let him develop before working with him as a father/son tandem.

Meanwhile, fans continue to wonder whether Offset has had some sort of falling out with the other two Migos since they are all releasing separate projects and remaining cagey about the group’s status. Offset also had some legal issues with the group’s label, Quality Control Music, which he says is trying to take credit for his solo material. Whether that friction contributed to the group’s (temporary?) dissolution also remains to be seen. Until then, you can check out Offset’s interview and performance above.
