“The Mandalorian” Wraps Up Season 3 With Wholesome Finale

Season 3 of The Mandalorian has been fairly divisive. Showrunner Jon Favreau inadvertently set the tone when he said that he had no endgame in mind for the Star Wars spinoff. As a result, Season 3 has felt like something of a set-up season – Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) must do a variety of side quests to be reaccepted by his people, the Mandalorians. He does this so that bigger things can happen in future seasons. Meanwhile, the Mandalorians are trying to restore their home planet to its former glory despite the challenges faced by external sources.

The season saw Djarin undergo the trials to be accepted into Mandalorian society, while also focusing on Bo-Katan’s (Katie Sachoff) struggle to once again be named Mandalore’s ruler. Their adventures take them around the local system, including a meeting with Lizzo, before once again returning to Mandalore. There, Bo-Katan is able to unite the desperate tribes and clans ahead of a final confrontation with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).

Mandalore Is Made Whole But The Story Continues

The season finale of The Mandalorian feels like a video game. Djarin and Grogu (Baby Yoda) must fight through increasingly difficult enemies before they can have a showdown with Moff Gideon. Gideon, who essentially wants to be the new Space Emporer, monologues a little bit like a video game boss. Then he proceeds to kick the asses of Djarin and Bo-Katan. However, before he can commit violence against the internet’s favorite puppet, a whole-ass spaceship falls onto the building they are fighting in. Gideon is killed by Grogu is able to protect Djarin and Bo-Katan with his force powers.

Then things get very…show-ending-y. Mandalore is restored, Djarin is reaccepted by his people and then formally adopts Grogu. And then the father-son pair retired to a peaceful homestead while undertaking legal contract work for the New Republic. The direction is a strange one as while it feels like the show is wrapping up, a fourth season is already in development. However, for the time being, Djarin and Grogu finally get a little bit of peace and quiet. How did you feel about the finale of The Mandalorian Season 3?

Lizzo Makes Hilarious Claim After “Mandalorian” Cameo

People typically associate Lizzo with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed being a Jeopardy! answer in 2019. There are also dozens of videos on YouTube titled “Lizzo’s funniest moments.” In an increasingly serious music industry, Lizzo’s levity and antics are eagerly welcomed by fans. What’s more, she has found success pushing a brand that balances levity with the sincere embracing of concepts like inclusivity, body positivity, and musical accessibility.

However, few people had “Lizzo cameos on The Mandalorian” on their bingo cards. Last week, The Mandalorian‘s Season 3 episode Guns for Hire starred Lizzo and Jack Black as the husband and wife rulers of a small planet. Overall, fans loved her larger-than-life, brightly-colored, Grogu-loving Duchess. It was a small but powerful role in a side plot episode of the show. Enjoyable, but unlikely to redefine Star Wars canon. That was until this past weekend when Lizzo took things a step further with a genius revelation.

Lizzo Crowns Herself As A “Disney Princess”

In a TikTok posted over the weekend, Lizzo argued that because she played royalty in Star Wars, that now makes her a Disney princess. Star Wars has been a Disney property since 2012, with The Mandalorian streaming exclusively on Disney+. Lizzo’s logic makes sense, she is technically Disney royalty now. However, legally speaking, she would only be Disney nobility. The title of Duchess is not a royal one, but a noble one. Despite this, things could be different in the Star Wars universe and we’re willing to let this slide for Lizzo. She is a confirmed Disney princess as far as we, and many of her fans, are concerned.

The comments on Lizzo’s video are full of fan support. However, many fans also note that she was already a queen in their eyes. Overall, the video is yet another light-hearted moment from the beloved pop star. However, there is one thing Disney could do to make the title truly official. With a live-action Princess & The Frog adaptation reportedly coming from Disney, maybe they could find a way to properly enthrone Lizzo. To quote The Duchess herself, it would be “about damn time.”

Lizzo Says Her Role In ‘Star Wars’ Makes Her A Disney Princess

Lizzo‘s appearance on The Mandalorian as The Dutchess Of Plazir-15 was amazing for many people, including Jack Black. She played his character’s wife, and he wrote on Instagram that it was “so fun” to work with her.

It got even better. Lizzo shared a revelation in a new TikTok: “YALL I JUST REALIZED THAT IM ROYALTY IN STAR WARS WHICH IS DISNEY WHICH MAKES ME A DISNEY PRINCESS,” she wrote over a video of her flexing pink-streaked hair and cool shades.

She recently revealed that she cried when she was offered the role. “When I was a young girl my dad introduced me to Star Wars like a rite of passage,” she wrote on Instagram. “The trilogy’s are his favorite movies and quickly became mine. When Jon favreau called me and offered the role of The Dutchess I cried all day wishing my dad was still with us cus he’d be so proud. Star Wars was a dream I never thought was possible— but thanks to Jon, Bryce, and everyone in the galaxy I am now part of the ever-expanding saga of the stars. I am in honorable company and forever grateful. This is The Way…. and May the Force be with you.”

Lizzo Cried After Being Offered A Role In ‘The Mandalorian’ Because Her Touching ‘Star Wars’ History With Her Dad

Lizzo just made her cameo in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. She played the role of the Dutchess Of Plazir-15, who is the wife of Jack Black’s character, Captain Bombardier. Black shared a selfie with Lizzo and wrote that he had “so much fun” working with her. Now, the “About Damn Time” singer shared her own post.

Alongside a photo burst featuring a selfie of her in costume, as well as another silly selfie with Black and other pictures, she wrote about how she cried after being offered the role. The caption reads:

“When I was a young girl my dad introduced me to Star Wars like a rite of passage. The trilogy’s are his favorite movies and quickly became mine. When Jon favreau called me and offered the role of The Dutchess I cried all day wishing my dad was still with us cus he’d be so proud. Working With Lizzo On ‘The Mandalorian’ Was ‘So Fun,’ Jack Black Said While Sharing Behind-The-Scenes Photos

The crossover we never knew we needed: Jack Black shared a photo with the one and only Lizzo on Instagram. The pair are working together in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, and in the picture it looks like they’re both having a great time on set.

“So fun working with @lizzobeeating on @themandalorian as the king and queen of Plazir-15!!!” Black wrote in the caption.

The “About Damn Time” singer was only making a cameo. This happens during episode 6 of season 3, playing the role of the Dutchess Of Plazir-15, who is Black’s wife. Fans loved this unexpected coupling.

Meanwhile, Lizzo’s deal with Amazon Studios was recently extended since her Watch Out For The Big Grrrls show won an Emmy. “I’m thrilled to continue this partnership with the Amazon team after an incredible experience on season one of Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” she shared about the exciting news in a statement. “I’ve witnessed lives change through this show, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue making space for even more Big Grrrls around the world to shine and break down barriers across this industry.”

“The Mandalorian” Unveils Two Major Cameos

The Mandalorian is well into its third season on Disney+, with just two episodes left to air. The plot has focused on the planet of Mandalore, home of the eponymous main character. That has allowed the creative team to showcase Mandalore’s unique design, as well as develop some fan-favorite characters. Katie Sachoff’s Bo-Katan, who was introduced in Season 2, has taken on a much more prominent role. Season 3 has seen appearances by Amy Sedaris, as well as the man behind Jar Jar Binks – Ahmed Best.

However, fans were still surprised to see some major celebrities appear in the show’s latest episode. Guns for Hire (Season 3, Episode 6) sees Din Djarin, Grogu, and Bo-Katan travel to the planet Plazir-15 in order to find Bo-Katan’s fleet. On Plazir-15, characters and fans alike were greeted by the planet’s leaders – The Duchess, played by Lizzo, and Captain Bombardier, played by Jack Black. If that wasn’t enough for fans, Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd also appears in the episode.

Fans Mixed On Mandalorian Cameos

After a number of serious, plot-heavy episodes for The Mandalorian, Guns for Hire sought to bring a little levity into the season’s later episodes. Lizzo excels as the larger-than-life Duchess who, much like most of the internet, becomes smitten with Grogu (aka, Baby Yoda). Meanwhile, Jack Black was the perfect choice for the outlandish Captain Bombardier. Fans were also quick to point out that Lizzo “manifested” her cameo by dressing as Grogu for Halloween. Together, they are an over-the-top power couple that serves as a contrast to the serious militarism of Mandalore.

However, early fan reception appears mixed regarding the cameos. While some fans have praised the appearances, others have used the opportunity to criticize Lizzo’s performance and overall acting ability. Meanwhile, some fans have criticized putting such a light-hearted episode so close to the end of the eight-episode season. But despite the detractors, the cameos received a positive reception overall, even if the episode itself was considered a weaker offering. While Lizzo and Jack Black may only be appearing for a single episode, it may be a sign to fans about the direction the show is taking, and the star power it is attracting.

What Was Lizzo’s Role On ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3, Episode 6?

This week’s episode of The Mandalorian featured a star-studded line-up of cameos, including Jack Black, Christopher Lloyd, and pop sensation, Lizzo. In the sixth episode of the third season, Lizzo plays the Dutchess Of Plazir-15, the wife of Black’s character, Captain Bombardier.

What was Lizzo’s role on ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3, Episode 6?

The Dutchess Of Plazir-15 rules the planet by way of ancestral rights. Her leadership was granted to her through a democratic election.

Over the course of the episode, Plazir-15 is depicted as a utopia, in which citizens are free to live happy, fulfilled lives, as droids tend to the everyday functions.

We won’t drop any major spoilers for this week’s episode, however, fans of Lizzo can expect to see more of her on their screens in the near future. Amazon Studios recently revealed that it has extended its first-look deal with Lizzo. Following the announcement, Lizzo shared a casting call for the upcoming second season of her Emmy-winning reality competition, Watch Out For The Big Grrrls.

Upon the premiere of this week’s episode, a fan demanded that Lizzo appears in more Star Wars movies and shows. She quoted the fan’s tweet with a few eye emojis, perhaps teasing some upcoming appearances.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 2: Review And Recap

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 2 released on Wednesday on Disney+ and saw Din Djarin, Grogu and company sprinting through the plotlines laid out in the first episode. While Episode 1 was all about bringing the audiences back up to speed, Season 3 Episode 2 was about plunging them (literally) into the deep lore of Mandalore.

Mandalorians are by far the most interesting group of people in Star Wars. They have such a deep, rich and fascinating lore. While Star Wars, and all the species in it, has a deep lore itself, this particular part of the franchise is unique.

For starters, that’s because the only Mandalorian ever seen in the films was Boba Fett. He, for as interesting as he was and is in his spin-off, is nothing like Din Djarin.

Djarin clings to the small religious sect of Mandalore that only a few do, even when he meets others that laugh in the face of it. Bo-Katan, Koska Reeves and others remove their helmets with no repercussions, but Djarin insists on finding the obsolete Living Waters to redeem himself for doing that.

That’s the premise laid out in Episode 1, and it’s almost completely resolved (or at least abandoned) in The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 2.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 2: What happened this time?

Din Djarin visited Peli Motto once again, who’s become almost as much of a recurring character as anyone. He wants to find an IG memory processor to fix his friend and the only droid he trusts, IG-11.

When he’s told that’s basically impossible, he begrudgingly takes an astromech she has to scout the planet. That effectively ends the plotline laid out in the first episode and plunges viewers into the future.

When he does discover that the air isn’t polluted, he goes down into the ruined city of Sundari on Mandalore, which was destroyed in the purge. Upon his arrival below, he begins looking for the mines of Mandalore so he can redeem himself.

He is attacked by a mechanized organism that is able to capture him and appears to be preparing to eat him. Grogu, then, must leap (he literally Force leaps into his chair) into action. He has to go find Bo-Katan, just about the only person who can help Din.

Din Djarin needs help in Mandalorian Season 3

Bo-Katan agrees to help Din, using his fallen Darksaber to slay the organism. It’s worth pointing out that she uses the weapon much more effectively than Djarin does.

She knows the way to the Living Waters and guides the injured Mandalorian there with Grogu. When he begins to recite the Creed he clings to, he’s sucked down into the water. Bo-Katan jumps in after him and finds him knocked out at the bottom of the water.

As she drags him up, she catches a glimpse of a monstrous beast that opens its eye and looks at her. She scrambles to the surface and drags her fallen counterpart to land, clearly shaken to her core by what she’s seen.

That’s where the episode ends, one of the more cliff-hanger-esque endings Jon Favreau and company have cooked up for the show.

Mandalorian Episode 3 Season 2: How did they do?

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 2 suffers from poor lighting. The entire episode, with few exceptions, takes place in the ruins of Mandalore. There’s no light beneath the surface, which makes things difficult to see.

However, it’s not dark enough that it’s impossible to see, though there are curious instances when characters turn off their lights and make it even worse.

It’s dim and mysterious, which could very well be the vibe the crew was going for. It’s a bit of a horror episode, with a few dark themes explored and a couple of jump scares.

Aside from that, there’s really nothing wrong with it from a technical aspect. The plot does quickly abandon the premise of the season, since Din Djarin has technically bathed in the waters and thus redeemed himself now (does anyone really believe he won’t remove his helmet again to save or help Grogu?).

Nevertheless, The Mines of Mandalore is another solid entry into the franchise. It gives viewers a look at how far Grogu has come. In the earlier seasons, he never would have been able to get back into his chair. This time, he flips into it with ease, navigates all the way back to Bo-Katan and gets her to help.

Season 3 is diving into Mandalorian lore

It also continues to explore the depths of the lore. Season 1 pulled in viewers with what felt like a Star Wars-adjacent story. Season 2 connected it to the greater universe. The third season seems to be pulling viewers into the lore like the beast pulled the Mandalorian down under the water.

Fortunately, for those unfamiliar with the depths of Star Wars (which is a lot of people, even dedicated Star Wars nerds), Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are holding the audience’s hand.

They use the relationship between Mando and Grogu to explain things. Din Djarin gives his “son” the rundown on what’s going on. Bo-Katan explains it to both Djarin and Grogu, who are relatively clueless. So is the audience, so it’s a useful if boring exposition tactic.

This episode isn’t groundbreaking. It’s not even the best of this season. Nevertheless, The Mandalorian continues to prove why it’s must-watch television. What on earth (or Mandalore) will Djarin, Katan and Grogu do next?

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 Review: Up To Lightspeed

The Mandalorian Season 3 has just dropped on Disney+. Unlike Netflix and other streaming services, Disney offers things in weekly format. This rewards patience and engrosses an audience far longer than the typical binge model.

As a result, the first episode of the Pedro Pascal-starring show arrived on Wednesday. The Mandalorian, Grogu and company were finally back on-screen for the first time since Season 2 ended in December of 2020 and since a few characters were seen at the end of The Book of Boba Fett.

The first episode drew viewers back in but didn’t offer much otherwise. A lot has happened and Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni decided to dedicate this episode to bringing viewers up to (light) speed and setting the plot in motion (spoilers for all episodes of The Mandalorian ahead).

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 recap

Mando, as he’s affectionately called, is reunited with Grogu. The latter spent two years (as Favreau recently confirmed is the timeline) training with Luke Skywalker before choosing to pursue a Mandalorian lifestyle with Din Djarin.

The iconic duo head back to Nevarro, the same place Greef Karga has been operating in since the beginning. This time, it looks like a respectable planet and Karga is now High Magistrate.

Djarin wants to rebuild the only droid he’s ever trusted- IG-11. The droid that (spoilers) sacrificed himself to save the bounty hunter and Grogu has a statue made out of the remaining parts.

Djarin, who needs to find the cleansing waters of the Mandalorian mines, needs a droid to help him scout the destroyed planet. Even though he’s come a long way, the Mandalorian doesn’t want just any droid.

Episode 1 is familiarly good

Thus the first plotline of The Mandalorian Season 3 comes into focus. Djarin needs to redeem himself for removing his helmet, the cardinal sin for certain sects of Mandalorians. This can only be done by bathing in the waters of the mines of Mandalore.

To achieve this, he needs a trusty droid, but IG-11’s memory processing unit has been destroyed, making him once again hostile towards Grogu. He can be fixed, but only with a specific part that Djarin and Grogu must find now.

The episode reintroduces Djarin, Grogu, High Magistrate Karga and other key players. It also explains the absence of the fired Gina Carano. Most of the episode is expositional since it’s been a while since Season 2 ended.

Nevertheless, by the end of the episode, The Mandalorian Season 3 has everyone hooked once again.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 review

The first episode doesn’t do anything special in relation to other episodes of The Mandalorian. Season 3 begins with the protagonists needing something and going to look for it. This is a familiar plot line from the first two seasons.

What the show does so well is pull viewers in and give them what they want. There are a few excellent action set pieces, including the cold open, that rival any blockbuster movie.

The Mandalorian is so cool and Grogu is so popular that it truly doesn’t matter what they do as long as they’re on screen together.

There are some positively adorable Grogu moments, too. At one point, it appears he’s using the Force to move his chair in circles rapidly. He then uses the Force to pick up and eat a piece of candy.

More growth for Mando and Grogu

The relationship between the two protagonists has grown a lot, too. Djarin is much more fatherly to his adopted son. Looking back at the beginning of the series, there is a warmth between them now in Season 3 that just wasn’t there before.

This season appears poised to jump fully into the lore of Star Wars and of Mandalorians specifically. Bo Katan returns and is seen on Kalevala. This planet is making its live action debut after first being seen in The Clone Wars.

The show has done a tremendous job of slowly bringing fans, many of whom probably weren’t avid Star Wars nerds, into the fandom.

Now, they’re too hooked to care. They may not have heard of Kalevala and they don’t know the intricate lore of the Mandalorian religion. It matters not.

What started out as a very distant Star Wars project (no doubt designed to pander to less interested fans) is turning up the heat now. It doesn’t matter, because this show is too good to skip out on.

The premier of Season 3 of The Mandalorian proves that. It’s pure exposition with a bit of impressive action and it’s done so well that that’s all anyone needs.

The Mandalorian is still the best

There are plenty of Easter eggs and references for hardcore fans, but Filoni and Favreau have masterfully interwoven the intricate aspects of the universe into the most accessible property it’s ever had.

Take a close look at everything in the episode, titled The Apostate and you’ll see just how much is going on. Or don’t, and enjoy the return of television’s favorite duo.

There were probably some doubts as to what the best Disney+ show was and what the best Star Wars show was after Andor came out. Pascal, Favreau and the rest of the crew jumped back into the saddle to remind everyone that there should be no debate.

The next episode will go live on Wednesday, March 8. Be sure to get on Disney+ as soon as it does.
