Scottie Pippen To Headline Tour Disputing “The Last Dance”

Scottie Pippen and several of his former Bulls teammates are embarking on a speaking tour to dispute the narrative of Netflix’s The Last Dance documentary. The “No Bull Tour” will see Pippen, Horace Grant, and Luc Longley share the narrative of The Last Dance and open up about their experiences of playing for the 90s Bulls dynasty.

Of course, while it was very well-received, The Last Dance was very pro-Michael Jordan and very Michael Jordan-centric. While other players, such as Pippen and Steve Kerr, would get inserts when it fit the narrative, the docuseries was less about the Bulls and more about Jordan. Of course, Pippen has turned against Jordan in recent years. He has gone as far as to call MJ “the worst teammate” he ever had. Details about the tour are still scarce. However, are you interested in hearing what they have to say? Let us know in the comments.

Scottie Pippen Becomes Social Media’s New Favorite Meme

Meanwhile, back in November, Pippen went viral for all the wrong reasons. A video of Pippen attending an NBA game in Mexico City has quickly become a viral meme on social media. The short clip, posted by the official NBA X account, shows a slightly disgruntled-looking Pippen courtside at the game earlier this week. Adding to the hilarity of the base video is the announcer awkwardly remarking “Scottie Pippen…enjoying the festivities!” as Pippen very much gives someone the stink eye.

Memesters and other users immediately jumped on the six-second clip. There were a lot of jokes about bad smells, especially Pippen appeared to looking at someone off-camera with annoyance and disgust. Another user commented that Pippen looked like a “Carribean mother when a stranger doesn’t greet them.” Meanwhile, someone else argued that Pippen was “looking at everyone like they just f-cked his wife”. On that count, Pippen is probably less than fond of Marcus Jordan.

Lakers Reportedly Working With “The Last Dance” Producer

Netflix’s The Last Dance was one of the hottest things on TV in 2020. The ten-episode documentary went behind the scenes of the Chicago Bulls’ 1997-98 season. That title run would ultimately become the last of the Bulls’ 90s dynasty and the series perfectly balanced archival footage with contemporary interviews. Of course, part of the show’s appeal was that we the audience (and many of the players at the time) knew it was their “last dance”.

However, another documentary may be in the works from the same production team. According to Lakers announcer John Ireland, Andy Thompson, who produced The Last Dance, has been spending a lot of time with the team this season. It has been a historic season for the Lakers, with LeBron surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. Furthermore, the Lakers have been making a dominant run as a seven seed in the playoffs.

Is A LeBron-Centric “The Last Dance” In The Works?

“I hope I’m not talking out of school here. Andy Thompson, who is the guy who shot The Last Dance, Mychal Thompson’s younger brother, who has worked for the NBA for 30 years, has spent a ton of time with us this year,” Ireland told the Awful Announcing podcast. “So if LeBron ever wanted to go down this road, I think Andy is stockpiling that just so he has it and has the opportunity to tell the story.” It’s an interesting concept, but it only really works if this is LeBron’s last dance. LeBron has not expressed any clear intention to retire and has been very vocal about playing a few more years so he can share the court with Bronny.

“If we go on a magical run to the title, Andy, who was the driving force behind The Last Dance, most of the stuff you saw in those 10 episodes was shot by Andy Thompson. And Andy’s a smart guy, he’s already working on, potentially, a story about the end of LeBron’s run like he had one for the end of Jordan’s run,” Ireland added. However, while the season has been historic for multiple reasons, it really needs a Championship-winning ending. The Lakers currently lead the Warriors 3-2 in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Isiah Thomas Has Strong Words For Michael Jordan

The Last Dance documentary was must-see television. Not only because everyone was locked in their homes due to COVID-19 but because of how captivating it was. The documentary follows the 1998 Chicago Bulls and their quest to finish on a high note. During the documentary, fans quickly learned that old enemies don’t bury the hatchet so easily. Michael Jordan still seemed to hold a grudge against former Pistons guard Isiah Thomas.

Jordan shared his disdain for Thomas. Even going as far as to call him a few names that are NSFW. The reaction from fans of both Jordan and Thomas has been heated since the documentary. Many feel Jordan should apologize. While others feel Thomas is taking Jordan’s comments too seriously. Thomas wasn’t the only star to feel the wrath of Jordan in this documentary. Gary Payton and Reggie Miller could just as easily hold a grudge over Jordan. Whatever the case may be, Thomas has a simple solution for Jordan. If the comments weren’t serious, then apologize.

Isiah Thomas Awaits MJ’s Apology

Thomas probably isn’t waiting by the phone for an MJ apology. He probably isn’t anticipating Jordan to mention his name on television. However, if these two are ever to be acquaintances, it seems Jordan has a lot of work to do. At times during The Last Dance, it did feel that Jordan was slighting Thomas. Jordan’s battles with the “Bad Boys” Pistons will forever be legendary. That Pistons squad had the right combination to not just beat the Bulls but get under Jordan’s skin in the process. The full interview with Thomas will be released on SHOWTIME Basketball. The interview will be dropped in parts, with part 1 coming Thursday.

A rivalry that has spanned over thirty years won’t be fixed overnight. In some way, it seems the two still enjoy the banter. The competition still spreads like wildfire between the two Hall-of-Famers. Nonetheless, everyone has a side in the argument. Where do your loyalties lie? Are you team MJ? Or Team Thomas?
