Kanye West Secures The No. 1 Spot On The New ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 Chart, Marking His First Chart-Topper In Over A Decade

In music, the artist that dominates the charts tends to lead the pack. So, each week, when Billboard reveals the top 10 songs on its Hot 100 chart, entertainers and fans alike pause to comb over the results.

After weeks of streaming battles between music’s biggest names, the new rankings are ready for all to see. Continue below for the track-by-track breakdown for the chart dated March 16.

10. Taylor Swift – “Cruel Summer”

Until Taylor Swift‘s forthcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department is released, the Swifties are working hard to ensure the singer doesn’t leave the chart. Instead of latching onto her most recent project, Midnight, they’ve latched onto 2019’s “Cruel Summer.” Her Lover-era is long since over, but the public’s admiration for the track clearly isn’t.

9. Doja Cat – “Agora Hills”

Over the weekend, Doja Cat announced her departure from the popular social media platform Instagram. But she couldn’t abandon the music charts even if she tried. Her stand-out Scarlet track “Agora Hills” has continued to hold tight in Billboard‘s top 10. The record could sneakily snatch the No. 1 slot if her die-hard fans work hard enough at it.

8. SZA – “Snooze”

There’s no sleeping on SZA’s sheer star power. The multiple Grammy Award winner’s sophomore album, SOS, is nearly two years old, and yet it still hasn’t left the charts. The project’s fan favorite, “Snooze,” has continued to showcase just how mighty SZA’s pen can be in the No. 8 spot.

7. Zach Bryan — “I Remember Everything” Feat. Kacey Musgraves

The more Zach Bryan travels across the world on his Quittin Time Tour, the more he makes a country music fan out of all within earshot. Undoubtedly, the most addictive song on his self-titled album is “I Remember Everything.” The debut with Kacey Musgraves will surely be looked back on as a classic years down the line. So, it is no wonder why the track sets comfortably at No. 7.

6. Tate McRae – “Greedy”

Uproxx cover star Tate McRae’s recent live performance at the 2024 BRITS gave her breakout hit “Greedy” an added boost on the charts. For 25 weeks, the song has made the Hot 100 chart its home, peaking at No. 3 back in September. But with McRae’s string of live shows and the constant push on TikTok, another surge could be in the works.

5. Beyoncé — “Texas Hold ‘Em”

Beyoncé and her yeehaw agenda is a force to be reckoned with. With Act II only a few weeks away, the project’s lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” won’t loosen its grip on the Beyhive. Although it has fallen out of the No. 1 slot, thanks to the fan-crafted viral lineup, it could gitty up right back to the top quite soon.

4. Benson Boone – “Beautiful Things”

Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” is showing subtle growth. In prior weeks, the track dropped from its peak position at No. 2 to No. 3. But for the week of March 16, the record climbed a slot up to No. 4.

3. Jack Harlow – “Lovin On Me”

Jack Harlow’s viral sensation “Lovin On Me” has refused to fall out of favor. Like the rapper, the record ebbs and flows based on which way the industry trends. While it currently sits at No. 3, it could very easily snatch its previously held No. 1 position.

2. Teddy Swims – “Lose Control”

Teddy Swims‘ “Lose Control” glides right back into the top two of this week’s Hot 100 chart. Due to its continued popularity, next week could be the moment when the song takes over at No. 1. But for right now, the growth to No. 2 will work just fine for the singer.

1. Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign — “Carnival” Feat. Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti

At No. 1 is none other than Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign. After a fierce battle with Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” the collaborative duo Vultures 1 track, “Carnival,” featuring Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti, has snagged the top spot. According to Complex, this marked West’s first No. 1 song in 13 years.

Jack Harlow Is Back At No. 1 Yet Again And 2024 Grammy Favorites Saw Significant Gains On The New Hot 100 Chart

Every week, Billboard unveils the top 10 songs on the latest Hot 100 chart. The most recent rankings, for the chart dated February 17, are out now, so let’s run down who had this week’s biggest hits.

10. Miley Cyrus — “Flowers”

Three songs that had big moments at the 2024 Grammys saw some noteworthy chart movement this week, with Cyrus’ former No. 1 “Flowers” re-entering the top 10 after spending last week at No. 32.

9. Doja Cat — “Agora Hills”

“Agora Hills” was at its Hot 100 high of No. 7 this week before sliding down to No. 9 this time around.

8. Luke Combs — “Fast Car”

Combs’ “Fast Car” cover had a Cyrus-like rise after he performed the song with Tracy Chapman herself, bouncing up to No. 8 from No. 20.

7. Tate McRae — “Greedy”

While “Greedy” slid down a couple spots from No. 5 last week, it did sell some more copies after McRae performed the song at the NHL All-Star Game on February 3.

6. Zach Bryan — “I Remember Everything” Feat. Kacey Musgraves

“I Remember Everything” once again leads various Billboard charts, ranking No. 1 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs charts for a 24th week and the Hot Country Songs for a 20th time.

5. SZA — “Snooze”

“Snooze” was barely hanging onto a top-10 placement last week, but after it was included in SZA’s Grammys performance medley, it gained a few spots to return to the top 5.

4. Taylor Swift — “Cruel Summer”

Swift has a new album, The Tortured Poets Department, on the way, but in the meantime, “Cruel Summer” is maintaining a strong chart presence for Swift before her new songs inevitably take over.

3. Benson Boone — “Beautiful Things”

Boone’s viral hit hit the top 10 for the first time at No. 8 last week, and now its ascent continues as it climbed all the way to a new high at No. 3.

2. Teddy Swims — “Lose Control”

Similar story for Swims: “Lose Control” was No. 4 last week and now it’s angling for the top spot after its rise to No. 2 this week.

1. Jack Harlow — “Lovin On Me”

Harlow’s hit has been jostled in and out of the No. 1 spot a handful of times now, but it’s on top once again for a fifth total week after spending last week at No. 2, behind Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” (which didn’t make this week’s top 10 after its chart-topping debut).

The Best Bets For Best New Artist At The 2025 Grammys

Yes, the Grammys just happened this past weekend, but it’s never too early to be thinking ahead. On Sunday (Feb. 4) night, Victoria Monét took home the gold for Best New Artist, keeping the trend of solo female artists wins in this category going for a seventh year straight (following Samara Joy, Olivia Rodrigo, Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Alessia Cara respectively). But who could be in line for next year’s award?

The criteria for Best New Artist eligibility is a bit vague: while two of the requirements are pretty cut and dry (artists must have released a minimum of five tracks and they can only be entered into this category a maximum of three times), the third condition leaves some gray area: the artist “must have achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness and impacted the musical landscape during the eligibility period.”

This guardrail was implemented after Meghan Trainor took home the award in 2016 despite seeing her debut single “All About The Bass” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 two years prior, but it makes things murky for artists like Reneé Rapp, Teddy Swims, and Tyla, who had all enjoyed a bit of acclaim prior to the beginning of the eligibility window (Sept. 16, 2023).

We’d place our money on some (if not all) of the aforementioned artists getting in if they are eligible, but we’ve set our sights on ten other promising acts we think could be among next year’s nominees. From a London-born country chanteuse to K-pop’s hottest new boy band, take a look into our crystal ball as we make early bets on the 2025 Grammys Best New Artist nominees.

Chappell Roan

Every few months, there seems to be a new pop star wannabe being billed as the “next big thing,” but they almost always fall flat due to the lack of a crucial ingredient: originality. While we navigate a sea of carbon copies all trying to out-vibe each other, Chappell Roan has approached the industry with a secret weapon: a refusal to take herself too seriously. It’s that fearless originality that truly sets her apart and given the fact that female artists have dominated this category, she’s a solid contender for the trophy.

Infinity Song

For fans of: The Mamas and the Papas, Lana Del Rey

The story behind Infinity Song’s big break is as wholesome as their music: director Jeymes Samuel (The Book Of Clarence) saw a clip of the family band busking in Central Park and sent it to his mogul buddy Jay Z. The rapper brought them in for an audition and signed them to RocNation, and for good reason: between their breezy arrangements and lush harmonies, they make records that sound right at home between cuts from The Byrds, Joni Mitchell, Buffalo Springfield and other Laurel Canyon legends.

For fans of: Peso Pluma, Fuerza Regida

Regional Mexican music is an undeniable force in the industry: the Billboard 2023 Year-End Top Artists Duo/Groups chart’s top two slots were occupied by Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera, outperforming other top ten acts like Fleetwood Mac, Imagine Dragons, and NewJeans. If the Grammys have their finger on the pulse, they’ll take note of Phoenix-born 19-year-old singer-songwriter Xavi, who rang in the new year by crowning Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart with his track “La Diabla.”

RIIZE

For fans of: Boynextdoor, BTS

It’s perplexing that despite K-pop’s chokehold on pop culture, the genre hasn’t seen a single act nominated in the Best New Artist category. In fact, K-pop groups were completely shut out of every category for the 2024 Grammys. Surely the Academy will soon catch up with the rest of the world, and our eyes are on RIIZE as the ones to watch. Not only did the band send a strong message that they’re staking a claim for the U.S. market by releasing an English version of their debut track, but they’ve got SM Entertainment (the geniuses who broke acts like NCT, Red Velvet, and aespa) at the helm. Expect big things.

Flyana Boss

For fans of: Missy Elliott, Doja Cat

It’s been a long time coming, but female emcees are finally dominating pop culture. While new acts seem to pop up daily, the Los Angeles-based duo Flyana Boss (a play on Diana Ross’ name) set themselves apart with their comedic lyricism and high-energy TikToks. The pair of weirdos may be considered too irreverent for the notoriously stuffy Grammys voters, but that’s part of their charm. Shouldn’t music be fun?!

Lola Kirke

Despite being in London and raised in New York City, Lola Kirke was always drawn to the gritty glamor of country music. Still, it seems Nashville has caught on: her forthcoming EP Country Curious (out Feb. 16) features folk duo First Aid Kid and Rosanne Cash, and is produced by Elle King.

Today’s elite pop stars could take note from the genre-bending, violin-wielding Sudan Archives. Not only did she record her latest album, the critically-acclaimed Natural Brown Prom Queen, in her basement, but she commands the stage with hypnotic, cat-like swagger reminiscent of Gwen Stefani during the early No Doubt days. She’s been teasing new music on social media, and if MTV were smart, they’d book her for a showstopping VMAs performance. (Yes, we’re mixing awards shows, but the point stands!)

Jhariah

For fans of: Panic! At the Disco, Poppy

Brooklyn-based artist Jhariah can’t be boxed into one genre: while there’s a heavy theatrical lean from emo bands of the early ’00s, influences from artists like System of a Down to Animé to 100 gecs can be heard while skipping through their catalog. The 23-year-old’s upcoming album has been five years in the making, and if the teaser tracks are any indication, it’s going to be massive.

Stephen Sanchez

For fans of: Frankie Avalon, FINNEAS

Let’s be real: no one is more likely for a Best New Artist nomination than Stephen Sanchez. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter made waves last year with his modest hit “Until I Found You,” which he performed alongside Sir Elton John during the icon’s farewell set at Glastonbury. Not only that, but his late-’50s nostalgia vibe is grade-A Grammys catnip.

Emmy Meli

For fans of: Lizzo, Amy Winehouse

The singer-songwriter had a viral moment on TikTok with 2022’s feminist anthem “I Am Woman,” but instead of haphazardly releasing follow-ups to capitalize on her moment, Meli spent the past year developing her craft — a lesson many quick-to-fame sensations should take note of. The result: her forthcoming debut EP (out this spring) is a cohesive jazz-tinged oeuvre, showcasing her intricate, smoky vocals over a horn-forward production that sounds straight out of the ’60s.

Jack Harlow Is Still Feeling The Love While Teddy Swims Lands His First Top-10 Single On The New ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 Chart

Every week, Billboard unveils the top 10 songs on the latest Hot 100 chart. The most recent rankings, for the chart dated January 20, are out now, so let’s run down who had this week’s biggest hits.

10. Morgan Wallen — “Last Night”

It’s been quite the past year for Wallen’s “Last Night,” just about exactly at this point: The song was released on January 31, 2023 and it’s still in the Hot 100 top 10.

9. Doja Cat — “Agora Hills”

Doja is the only artist with multiple top-10 songs this week, and that’s thanks in part to “Agora Hills” setting a new personal-best placement at No. 9.

8. Teddy Swims — “Lose Control”

Here’s perhaps the most notable entry on this week’s Hot 100, as “Lose Control” is the first top-10 single for Teddy Swims. It’s his first song to crack the Hot 100 at all, actually. It’s been a steady rise to the region, as the track was originally released in June 2023.

7. Tyla — “Water”

Tyla had a breakout year in 2023 thanks to her hit single and that is clearly continuing into 2024, as “Water” matches its all-time high at No. 7 this week.

6. SZA — “Snooze”

“Snooze” never quite hit No. 1, topping out in the silver-medal spot, but the song has maintained a high chart position following its April 2023 release.

5. Doja Cat — “Paint The Town Red”

Doja said what she said, and she’s been saying it for a while now, as “Paint The Town Red” was released back in August 2023 and it’s still in the top 5 on the Hot 100.

4. Zach Bryan — “I Remember Everything” Feat. Kacey Musgraves

Bryan and Musgraves’ collab continues to dominate various Billboard charts, as it’s currently No. 1 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs charts for a 20th week and on the Hot Country Songs for a 16th total week.

3. Tate McRae — “Greedy”

“Greedy” previously reached its current chart peak at No. 3, and that’s where McRae’s hit finds itself this week, too.

2. Taylor Swift — “Cruel Summer”

Swift’s “Cruel Summer” previously enjoyed four weeks at No. 1, and while it’s not on top anymore, the 2019 song is still enjoying significant Hot 100 success.

1. Jack Harlow — “Lovin On Me”

This is the third total week at No. 1 for “Lovin On Me,” Harlow’s 2023 hit. This is tied for his longest stay on top of the Hot 100, as “First Class” was previously No. 1 for three weeks in 2022. His Lil Nas X collab “Industry Baby” also reigned for a week in 2021.
