Wiz Khalifa Drops New Single “Mercury Retrograde”

Wiz Khalifa has new music to smoke to with his new single, “Mercury Retrograde.”

If you’ve been looking for some “old Wiz,” then his new single is exactly what you’ve been looking for. Wiz Khalifa dishes out a laidback, spacey record that puts together his smooth flow and fly bars. At the same time, Wiz pushes back against the notion that you can’t smoke and be successful.

Throughout the record, Wiz showcases that he understands his role as an elder statesman in the game. It’s apparent in how he drops jewels and addresses for the next generation to soak in. Though it’s unclear what project this might land on, it’s a promising sign of what Wiz has in store.

The new song arrives shortly after Wiz pointed out how hip-hop hardly creates music for smoking these days. ”They really don’t be making music to get stoned to anymore that’s crazy,” he tweeted. Evidently, “Mercury Retrograde” fills in that void.

Wiz delivered a spree of new singles since the beginning of the year. “Mercury Retrograde” comes after Wiz dropped off “#NeverDrinkingAgain” and “Love To Smoke.” Last year, the rapper released his latest studio album, Multiverse.

Hopefully, we hope Wiz drops off another project this year, especially after his latest singles.

Quotable Lyrics
Smokin presidential like Condoleeza
I’m the type to need the pay, not the type to need ya
And when my gang walk in, they all know the procedure
Don’t really like to crowd, by myself, blowin’ smoke hella peaceful

Wiz Khalifa Combats Lazy Stoner Narrative On “I Love To Smoke”

Wiz Khalifa drops another anthem for the stoners with “I Love To Smoke.”

The Taylor Gang honcho blessed fans with a new video to the single on Wednesday. The groovy record samples Rene & Angela’s “I Love You More” but Wiz uses the interpolation as a moment to profess his love for his favorite plant. Throughout the song, Wiz describes his undeniable love for smoking weed. Despite the stigma surrounding cannabis, Wiz Khalifa reflects on the success he’s experienced as a result of his habits.

“Who would of thought smokin’ weed in a basement/ Now I’m making 500 million,” he raps on the song. Between running a successful label, a fruitful music career of his own, and his numerous ventures in the cannabis industry, it’s safe to say that Wiz has defied stereotypes surrounding smokers.

The new single comes on the cusp of a series of rants where Wiz bashed stereotypes that weed makes people lazy.

“If you smoked weed for the majority of your life and you just stopped smoking weed, don’t try to convince everybody that your life has changed so much just ‘cause you quit smoking weed, dog,” Wiz began. “That shit – it don’t happen that fast. Tap in about 15 years when the effects really kick in.”

Prior to the release of “I Love To Smoke,” Wiz Khalifa shared the single, “#NeverDrinkingAgain.”

Quotable Lyrics
And you probably say you sober so you gotta clear mind
Well, I got a clear mind too
I know n***as who don’t smoke that swear they livin’ good
But they don’t even work out as much as I do
I know bitches who talk shit on weed but let a n***a lean
And do all other dumb shit
I’m a n***a that do what he wants and say what he like
But hey, that’s what it comes with

Ty Dolla $ign Closes Out Another Year With “2022”

Ty Dolla $ign delivered an anthem to close out 2022. The California singer delivered his new single, “2022” just before the new year, and it’s an anthem that embodies the highs and lows of 2022. “This is where our story ends,” he sings before asking rhetorically, “Or is this where it begins?” While it’s as much of a record about closing chapters, Ty Dolla $ign is clearly embracing the uncertainty of 2023. The song also came with a new set of visuals to accompany the song.

“2022” might just be a hint of what Ty Dolla $ign has in store this year. Throughout 2022, he remained rather lowkey with the exception of a handful of features and singles. He teamed up with Wiz Khalifa on “Champions.” Towards the end of the year, he shifted gears with a new single alongside Lil Durk titled, “My Friends.” Clearly, he has a lot of music in store and fans are excited to hear what he’s cooked up in recent times.

Though it’s been nearly three years since he released his last solo studio project, Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, he came through with dvsn for Cheers To The Best in 2021. The collab project contained features from YG, Rauw Alejandro, and the late Mac Miller.

We’re glad to see Ty back in action these days, especially after he revealed that he was hospitalized in November. The singer shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed. He explained that he suffered from a bad skateboarding incident that left him “knocked out for a few.”

Leavin’ our memories in 2022, ooh
I thought, I thought it would be me and you
But my momma, my momma, my momma knew
2023 I’d be with someone new
