DJ Khaled’s Nickelodeon-Approved ‘Supposed To Be Loved’ Video Stars Child Versions Of Future, Lil Baby, And Lil Uzi Vert

Ever since Puff Daddy employed child actors to portray The Notorious B.I.G. and himself in Biggie’s “Sky’s The Limit” video, it’s become one of rap’s favorite video formats. It’s been utilized by Danny Brown, Macklemore (twice!), and Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pharrell to enormous success. Add DJ Khaled to that list, as the new video for his ‘Til Next Time single “Supposed To Be Loved” presents pint-sized versions of the producer and his guests Future, Lil Baby, and Lil Uzi Vert.

Created in partnership with Nickelodeon — where Khaled is an eternal fixture thanks to his past participation in the Kids’ Choice Awards and willingness to get slimed for a good cause — the kid-friendly video sees TikTok star Julian Shapiro-Barnum interviewing the actors about love in the style of his popular “Recess Therapy” videos. Their answers are typically innocent yet astute and hilarious and their performances are likewise adorable (its pretty obvious they only barely know the words, but they make up for it in enthusiasm). The Lil Uzi stand-in even has a little costume gem glued to his forehead. The video also premiered on Nickelodeon,l ikely giving Khaled a little more cachet with his own two kids.

Nickelodeon played a pretty big part in the spread and popularity of hip-hop with millennials thanks to shows like All That and Kenan And Kel embracing the culture with their theme songs and musical performances, so it’s nice to see them carry on tradition.

DJ Khaled, Lil Baby, Future, And Lil Uzi Vert Remind Their Ladies How They’re ‘Supposed To Be Loved’ On Their New Single

DJ Khaled can’t stop working. Yesterday (August 10), the prolific DJ and producer announced his 14th album, Til Next Time, which will arrive as part of a new partnership between Khaled’s We The Best Music and Def Jam Recordings. Tonight, Khaled has shared the first single from the album, “Supposed To Be Loved.”

On “Supposed To Be Loved,” Khaled is joined by melodic rappers Lil Baby, Future, and Lil Uzi Vert, who lean into their vocal stylings as they seek to spoil their ladies.

“I’m tryna love you like you ‘posed to be loved / She know I’m a thug, she don’t treat me like no rapper / See you comin’ up, I can make that shit faster,” sing Future and Lil Baby on the song’s catchy earworm of a chorus.

Over the years, Khaled has proven that he’s pretty much guaranteed to drop a contender for the song of summer. Though “Supposed To Be Loved” arrives rather late in the summer, Khaled holds up his track record.

Til Next Time is due later this year via We The Best Music and Def Jam Recordings.

Lil Uzi Vert is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

DJ Khaled Will Reconnect With Future, Lil Baby, And Lil Uzi Vert On Their Upcoming Single, ‘Supposed To Be Loved’

DJ Khaled has announced his next album, Til Next Time, as well as the release date for its first single, “Supposed To Be Loved.” “Supposed To Be Loved” is due on Friday, August 11 (that’s tomorrow), and will feature Future, Lil Baby, and Lil Uzi Vert — three artists with whom Khaled has worked extensively in the past. The announcement was made with an over-the-top trailer featuring Khaled and his sons playing golf, with Khaled chipping in an impressive (and unlikely) shot and cartoonishly whacking a drive all the way to Rome.

DJ Khaled and Future have a plethora of songs together going back a decade beginning with “Bitches & Bottles (Let’s Get It Started)” from his 2012 album Kiss The Ring. That song also featured Lil Wayne and T.I. Since then, they’ve collaborated over a dozen more times, including on last year’s God Did single, “Big Time,” which also featured Lil Baby. Future also teamed up with SZA on “Beautiful.”

Lil Baby popped up a few more times in Khaled’s discography, starting with 2019’s Father Of Asahd. He featured on two songs on that album, “You Stay” featuring J Balvin, Jeremih, and Meek Mill, and “Weather the Storm” With Meek Mill. On God Did, he had another two features, “Big Time” and “Staying Alive” with Drake.

However, “Supposed To Be Loved” will actually mark DJ Khaled’s first time working with Lil Uzi Vert, who was the first rap artist of 2023 to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
