Biden’s State of the Union Announces Plans To Establish a Port in Gaza To Deliver Aid

During his State of the Union address, Biden announced steps to establish a port in Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. 

This initiative was reported by CNN and teased before the speech on Thursday by a senior administration official who said it prior to the POTUS’s biggest speech of the year.

“Tonight in the speech, the President will announce that he’s directing the US military to lead an emergency mission to establish a port in the Mediterranean on the Gaza coast that can receive large ships carrying food, water medicine, and temporary shelters,” a senior administration official said Thursday.

CNN reported the port will essentially include a temporary pier “will provide the capacity for hundreds of additional truckloads of assistance each day.” It’s interesting as the efforts will be coordinated mainly with Israel, the United Nations, and humanitarian nongovernmental organizations. The initial aid shipments will come from Cyprus.

What is not immediately apparent is when the port will be up and running. The administration said, “This new significant capability will take several weeks to plan and execute. The forces required to complete this mission are either already in the region or will begin to move there soon,” said a second official.

It’s important to note that Israel has imposed major restrictions on what aid can enter the Gaza Strip and has drained or forbade essential supplies that are desperately needed by displaced civilians in Gaza. Many are facing starvation, including children, who make up half of the population in Gaza. 

US officials still believe that delivering aid via land is “the most efficient, cost-effective way to get assistance in,” Biden’s State of the Union announcement expressed the urgency of the overall situation in Gaza..

Donald Trump Mocks Joe Biden’s Stutter From State Of The Union Address

Donald Trump trolled Joe Biden for stuttering during his State of the Union address at a campaign rally in Georgia on Saturday. “‘I’m gonna bring the country tuh-tuh-tuh-together,’” Trump said on stage, mimicking the president. He previously made a similar impression at a rally in Iowa in January.

Trump also called for unity of a different kind with his speech. “But if you’re a disillusioned Democrat, of which there are many today I extend an open hand, an open invitation, and I ask you to join us on the noble quest of saving our country,” he declared. “Saving our country! Together, we will turn the page forever on the miserable nightmare of the Biden presidency.” From there, he described Biden’s State of the Union as “angry, dark, hate-filled” and called him a “threat to democracy.”

Biden’s team shamed Trump for mocking the stuttering. His senior adviser for communications on the reelection campaign, TJ Ducklo, told The Washington Post: “Trump thinks mocking people and taking away their rights makes him look strong. But it just reveals how weak and insecure he is.” Check out Trump’s latest antics below.

Chuck D says watching Joe Biden’s State of the Union address is more important than watching any “sporting event.” He shared his take on the President’s speech in a post on Twitter, earlier this week. Biden called for unity in the country, spoke on Ukraine, discussed Israel and Palestine, and much more.

“Pay Attention,” the Public Enemy rapper began. “Understanding this State of the union right now is more crucial than any sporting event going on especially with elections looming in November. The divided country looks on these faces on this screen is sad ass comedy of a haunted terrain ahead either way. Making sports appear as important as someone else’s masterbation Pay Attention. Joe Biden’s Energetic State Of The Union Has Republicans Pedaling Cocaine Conspiracies

After months of theories claiming that President Joe Biden had dementia, Republicans pivoted to a new attack after an energetic State of the Union address last night. Several Republican influencers, as highlighted by Media Matters For America‘s Matthew Gertz, began suggesting that Biden was hopped up on more than just patriotism. “I think I just got to the bottom of the untraceable little baggie found at the White House,” wrote Fox host Julie Banderas.

Biden, who finds himself between right-wing critics attacking him on border control and left-wing critics attacking him on Gaza, came out swinging in his annual address to Congress. Amongst the topics addressed were a warning to Vladimir Putin, a promise to restore Roe v. Wade, and the announcement of a temporary seaport to circumvent the Israeli blockade of Gaza. However, the official Republican response, delivered by Alabama Senator Katie Britt, took aim at Biden’s immigration record and tried to champion the GOP as the “defenders of women”.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump had his own response to Joe Biden. ”That may be the Angriest, Least Compassionate, and Worst State of the Union Speech ever made. It was an Embarrassment to our Country! I don’t want Facebook, who cheated in the last Election, doing better. They are a true Enemy of the People!” Trump claimed. The former President, who is currently the presumptive Republican nominee for November’s election, certainly made a choice by invoking electoral fraud. Trump is currently facing multiple legal cases surrounding his attempts to interfere with the 2020 election.

Donald Trump Disputes Claim He “Bullied” His Way Into Home Alone 2 Cameo

Of course, Trump is never very far away from ranting about something. Last year, Trump disputed the claim that he “bullied” his way into a cameo in Home Alone 2. “I was very busy, and didn’t want to do it. They were very nice, but above all, persistent. I agreed, and the rest is history!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. The brief moment, in which Kevin McCallister runs into Trump and asks for directions, was filmed in the lobby of the then-Trump-owned Plaza Hotel. Trump then went on to claim that his brief cameo was the driving force of the film’s massive success.

The claims that Trump forced his way into a cameo stem from a 2020 interview with the film’s director, Chris Columbus. While speaking with Business Insider, Columbus claimed that Trump offered the lobby of the Plaza for free as long as he got a part in the film. Columbus said he had gone to Trump after finding it impractical to recreate the iconic lobby on a soundstage.

President Joe Biden Pushed Back Against Those Pesky Concert ‘Junk Fees’ In His State Of The Union Speech

President Joe Biden continued his push back against airlines, concert promoters, and other companies that embed “junk fees” into their service as he expressed his intentions for proposed legislation during last night’s (February 7) State Of The Union address.

Biden’s plan for the Junk Fee Prevention Act would also include extra resort fees, credit card late fees, and any other hidden charges toward customers — no matter what industry.

“For example, we’re making airlines show you the full ticket price upfront and refund your money if your flight is canceled or delayed,” Biden said. “Baggage fees are bad enough — they can’t just treat your child like a piece of luggage. Americans are tired of being played for suckers.”

On February 1, he also tweeted, “You shouldn’t have to pay an extra $50 to sit next to your child on the plane, pay a surprise ‘resort fee’ for a hotel stay, pay $200 to terminate your cable plan, or pay huge service fees to buy concert tickets. It’s time for Congress to pass the Junk Fee Prevention Act.”

Back in October, the White House released a statement that defined junk fees as “mandatory fees that often hide the full price” and “surprise fees that consumers learn about after purchase.” This would include those pesky service fees that companies like Ticketmaster tack on to your ticket at checkout.

“These fees can also create an uneven playing field for businesses, making firms that price in a fair and transparent manner seem more expensive than their rivals,” it read.

This continued discussion comes after months of debate over Ticketmaster’s monopoly and fans having more trouble than ever getting tickets for Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, and other popular acts.
