‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Becomes STARZ’s Biggest Premiere Ever
In its first three days, Power Book II: Ghost on STARZ broke all previous marks for the network’s best premiere weekend. According to preliminary reports, the much-awaited third season delivered 5.8 million multiplatform viewers after its first weekend. The popularity of the third season of the popular show, which debuted on March 17, increased by almost 30% from the start of season two in November of the previous year.
While Tariq, Brayden, and the Tejada family are mourning Zeke’s passing, this season kicked off in dramatic fashion with all new twists, turns, and murder. However, they won’t have much time to do so because a new set of issues and questions soon appear. Even more family conflict, betrayals, and unexpected new alliances are there in this season, making it flashier, juicer, and sexier. With her family, Monet is at a crossroads, Brayden must decide between his birth family and his adopted family, and Tariq is leveling up this season.
Season three of Ghost cast includes Michael Rainey Jr. as “Tariq St. Patrick,” Mary J. Blige as “Monet Stewart Tejada,” Cliff “Method Man” Smith as “Davis MacLean,” Gianni Paolo as “Brayden Weston,” Woody McClain as “Cane Tejada,” Lovell Adams-Gray as “Dru Tejada,” LaToya Tonodeo as “Diana Tejada,” Berto Colon as “Lorenzo Tejada,” Alix Lapri as “Effie Morales,” Larenz Tate as “Rashad Tate,” Shane Johnson as “Cooper Saxe,” Paton Ashbrook as “Jenny Sullivan,” Monique Curnen as “Detective Blanca Rodriguez,” Keesha Sharp as “Professor Harper Bennet,” David Walton as “Lucas Weston,” Moriah Brown as “KeKe Travis,” Luna Lauren Velez as “Evelyn Castillo,” Caroline Chikezie as “Noma” and Lightskinkeisha as “Brushaundria Carmichael.”

50 Cent’s $1 Billion ‘Power’ Lawsuit Might Be Heading To Mediation In New York City
50 Cent’, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is no stranger to filing and being on the receiving end of a civil lawsuit (see penis enhancement or former employee embezzlement lawsuits). However, as his co-executive produced series Power Book II: Ghost, starring Michael Rainey Jr., Method Man, and Mary J. Blige, made its return to the Starz network last week, the pending lawsuit surrounding it is also back in the headlines.
In April 2021, a gentleman by the name of Corey Holland Sr., whose nickname is Ghost, filed a $1 billion lawsuit again Jackson, the STARZ network, and series creator Courtney Kemp, alleging that the beloved show was based on his likeness. Holland believes that Kemp was inspired to current the show after obtaining a copy of his CD Blasphemy, which was originally given to Kemp’s father in 2007. He believes the seventh season of Power and the first two seasons of Power Book II: Ghost were directly inspired by that CD.
Given that Power has now birthed three spin-offs for the network (Power Book II: Ghost, Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force), Holland feels that the $1 billion asking price for supposed intellectual property theft is justified.
According to HotNewHipHop, because the rapper’s legal team never responded to Holland’s complaint, the courts ordered all parties to come to a resolution through mediation. Although no date has been formally set, it is being reported that mediation could begin as soon as May.
He also alleged in court documents reviewed by the outlet that 50 Cent himself showed up at his home as he filed suit against him and attempted to start a physical altercation between the two of them.
50 Cent has not yet issued a statement about the allegations or the lawsuit.
50 Cent Shades Shailene Woodley While Slamming Starz: “This Is A Dud”
No one’s safe from 50 Cent’s slanderous ways. Throughout the years, Fif’s gained a reputation as a bully. Rap adversaries might get it the worst but that doesn’t mean that he’ll hold back against anyone else. That means even broadcasting partners and celebrities can face his wrath at any time. Fif targeted Starz over the years yet they continue to work with him because of successful series like BMF and Power. Though he said he wanted to purchase the latter from Starz, the show continues to air on their platform.
It’s clear that Fif’s had grievances with Starz in the past. During his appearance on The Beat, he explained that Fox offered him a non-exclusive clause in his contract. “It’s an opportunity to work with Fox and then, there’s the non-exclusive part of it… ‘Cause my last deal was an exclusive deal with Starz,” he explained. Still, Starz undoubtedly relies heavily on 50’s roster of TV series to help rake in subscriptions and big bucks.
50 Cent Slams New Starz Show
Earlier this week, Starz announced that they picked up the first season of Three Women, starring Shailene Woodley, Betty Gilpin, DeWanda Wise and Gabrielle Creevy. Showtime initially released the show, though the producers of Three Women began to shop it around afterward. The network stated confirmed that they didn’t want to move forward with the series as part of their Paramount+ integration. “The show is anchored by such remarkable talent both in front of and behind the camera and aligns perfectly with our commitment to telling stories by, for and about women,” said Alison Hoffman, President, Domestic Networks, of Starz.
Of course, 50 Cent couldn’t help to chime in on the matter. With knowledge of the behind-the-scenes affair, the mogul described the series as a “dud.” “what do you call a fire cracker that don’t go off? a Dud, Yeah i think this is a Dud LOL,” he captioned a post, which included a screenshot of Deadline’s article featuring Woodley’s face. Evidently, Fif isn’t enthusiastic about the series but he’s undoubtedly excited to debut the next season of Power Book II: Ghost, which arrives later this month.
“Power Book II: Ghost” Season 3 Trailer: Watch
Today (February 16), Starz released the trailer for the next season of Power Book II: Ghost. The trailer gives fans a glimpse into the highly-anticipated third season of the hit drama series. The show was created by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Courtney A. Kemp. The intense trailer shows audiences pieces of the brand-new twists, turns, and murders that will shake the show’s characters this season. Characters Tariq, Brayden, and the Tejada family grieve the death of Zeke. Based on the synopsis, this season is going to be “flashier, juicer, and sexier, with even more family drama, betrayals, and surprising new alliances.”
The previous season of Power Book II: Ghost left fans begging for more. Tariq is on a quest to get out of the game and reconnect with his family. Brayden possibly betrayed him before he was taken out of school. Additionally, the Tejada family has a substantial amount of product to distribute– more than ever before. Also, Riq has little to no options to cut ties with the family. The Tejada’s family matriarch is setting out to avenge Zeke’s death. She is also fighting to keep Davis MacLean, a criminal defense attorney, off her back. Another question that needs answers is if Effie got rid of Riq’s girlfriend, Lauren. 50 Cent’s “Power Book II: Ghost” Renewed For Season 4, Michael Ealy Joins Cast
50 Cent’s Power universe continues to go strong, especially as STARZ renews its second spinoff for another season.
Before season 3 debuts this March, Starz confirmed that Power Book II: Ghost will return for another season. The fourth season is already in production in New York. Additionally, they’re bringing on new faces to join the regular cast.
Michael Ealy will play Detective Don Carter, who leads the new task force to combat drug-related violence in the streets.
“The high-octane drama of Power Book II: Ghost continues to resonate with our viewers and we’re thrilled to get season four production underway ahead of our season three debut,” said Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming for Starz. “It’s clear our fans are ready to devour more of this explosive series and we look forward to having Michael join our incredible cast.”
The upcoming season of Power Book II: Ghost will continue to follow Tariq St. Patrick’s story as well as the other characters we’ve grown to love. Starz will debut the season premiere of Power Book II on March 17th at midnight.
The success of the Power spin-offs prompted 50 Cent to recently announce that he’ll be doing the same with BMF. During the season 2 premiere earlier this month, he confirmed that BMF will turn into a universe, similar to Power.
