Damian Lillard told reporters he had no problem with Tyrese Haliburton hitting his iconic “Dame Time” celebration against him. “I learned as a kid, when you dish it out, you’ve got to be willing to take it. For as many times as I’ve done it to people, I can’t be upset when somebody else does it, you know what I mean. I think that’s also a sign of respect and acknowledgment for knowing my history and knowing what I do. I didn’t mind it. It was what it was. Haliburton hit the celebration late in the Pacers’ win over the Bucks in the semifinals of the In-Season Tournament. Haliburton, who is already generating plenty of MVP hype, was once again white-hot against Milwaukee. He had a team-high 25 points, also adding 15 assists to the stat sheet as the Pacers won by nine. They will face the Lakers in the tournament final on Saturday.

However, it was a less successful night for Zion Williamson on the other side of the bracket. He put up just 13/2/3 in the Pelicans’ 44-point blowout loss to the Lakers. Despite this, Williamson was the first to admit that he didn’t play his best game. “I got to be better. I got to be more aggressive, finding my shot. And I got to do more things to get my team going. I think I was too laid-back tonight, and I just can’t do that. And defensively I got to be better,” Williamson said.

On the other side of the ball, LeBron James had one of his biggest games of the year. LeBron looked ageless as he put up 30/5/8 to power the Lakers into the title game against Indiana. However, that’s now two games in a row that Williamson has struggled to break double digits. In the Pels’ quarterfinal win over Sacramento, Williamson was held to just 10 points. “I have a problem where I literally just try to hunt the best shot possible every time, but my teammates, they expect more from me. I expect more from myself. But I got to just trust my game. I just got to be more aggressive. I think if I’m more aggressive that energy will definitely carry over,” Williamson added.

Charles Barkley Roasts The Warriors While Interviewing Their Former GM

Charles Barkley has no love for the Warriors. Furthermore, their slow start to the season has given the ex-Suns player plenty of reasons to go in hard on the perennial contenders. He did not pass up an opportunity to do this on a recent episode of Inside The NBA when he was joined by ex-Warriors GM and current ESPN analyst Bob Myers. “I wanna give you credit for jumping off the Titanic before it sunk,” Barkley told Myers. Myers took it all in stride, trying not to go in on his former team too much.

However, it’s no secret that the Warriors are struggling this season. The team is currently 10-11, half a game back from the Play-In Tournament spots. Losing Draymond Green for five games certainly didn’t help. However, head coach Steve Kerr also said that the optimal lineup is still alluding him. “The puzzle hasn’t fit this year. We’ve had a lot of guys playing well, but we may have to think about moving the starting lineup around from game to game depending on who we are facing. I’d still prefer to get something solid, but we haven’t established anything this year. We’re a quarter of a way through so there is a lot of thought that has to go into this,” Kerr said after a close win against Portland.

Thursday was generally a wild one for Barkley as ESPN and TNT put on a joint programming block to celebrate the semifinals of the In-Season Tournament. This meant that Stephen A. Smith joined Inside the NBA and the ITN crew showed him no mercy. Less than a minute into the show, Barkley was already coming for Smith. He warned Smith that it wasn’t First Take and he wouldn’t stand for “all that yelling you do”. Furthermore, Barkley said he’s give Smith an “a– whooping” if the ESPN personality tried anything. Of course, the whole thing was in good fun and Smith appeared to be having a blast. Later Shaq crashed ESPN‘s coverage, pretending to spill a drink on Smith.

After Charles Barkley opened the show by threatening to give Smith an “a– whopping”, things only got more and more chaotic as the night went on. First, Smith “won” Shaqtin the Fool for the week. During the explanation of why, Shaq pointed to Smith’s terrible first pitch at a Yankees game earlier this year as the primary reason that Smith was being given the award.

However, things didn’t stop there. Before Smith left to rejoin the ESPN crew, he participated in the Inside the NBA staple, “Who He Play For?”. For those unfamiliar, the game is very simple – the guesser simply has to name the current team of five lesser-known NBA players. Smith failed spectacularly, going 1-for-5 and only guessing Otto Porter Jr correctly.

Of course, it’s been a busy week for Smith and viral content. Smith enlightened his audience with more sexual wisdom in a recent episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show. When asked the question “BBL versus natural”, Smith went off a nearly five-minute rant. After establishing that he likes women with “curves” and said he needs a woman who has “more A and T than me”, Smith went completely off the rails.

The crux of his rant was that men want a “strong 7” in terms of their partner’s appearance. “10s” are “too much maintenance”, Smith argued. “9s” are also out for Smith because “she got enough people telling her she’s a 10”. The rant continues to get more and more bizarre, with Smith arguing that “too much independence” in a woman is a bad thing because it can reach a level where you (the man) start to feel dependent on your partner. After a certain point, like with many of Smith’s rants, it feels like he ran out of things to say. As a result, his point ends up being something along the lines of “get yourself a woman who is just a little insecure about her own appearance because that’s the best way to keep her around.”

Von Miller Refuses To Comment On Domestic Violence Arrest

Von Miller refused to answer locker room questions from reporters about his recent arrest on domestic violence charges in Texas. Miller took a veteran rest day on Wednesday but was a full participant in Thursday’s practice as the Bills prepare to face the Chiefs this weekend.

Despite his arrest, the Bills see no interruption in Miller’s playing time. “We weren’t there. We’re not the investigators. We don’t, obviously, you know, we had our conversations with Von and understood what he believes happened. And so, from that standpoint we can’t get into it. It’s an open investigation, and so we’ll just, we’ll let the legal process play out, and he’ll participate like normal in practice,” GM Brandon Beane told reporters on Wednesday. Furthermore, Beane said he does not expect Miller to be placed on the Commissoner’s Exempt List.

Why Was Von Miller Arrested?

Miller surrendered to police last Thursday after a warrant for his arrest was issued the day prior. Per TMZ, Miller was booked around 4pm Central on Thursday and released on bond soon after. According to ESPN, Miller’s bond was set at $5000. He had been wanted by police in Texas since late morning Wednesday. The wannt came after they responded to a “major disturbance call” concerning Miller and his pregnant partner. According to an affidavit, an argument about Miller’s partner’s travel plans had allegedly turned violent. Miller allegedly shoved her, pulled her hair, and placed his hands around her neck on two separate occasions.

Miller was previously investigated on similar accusations in Colorado in 2021. However, that inquiry did not lead to any sort of formal police intervention. However, the report of his assault by his alleged victim paints a disturbing picture. According to the alleged victim, Miller had demanded that she leave their shared apartment as a result of their argument. However, she claims that as she tried to collect her things, Miller repeatedly assaulted her and smashed her laptop. Miller, who signed a six-year deal with the Buffalo in 2022, continues to play limited snap counts as he rehabs from an ACL tear. Across eight games this season, Miller has recorded two total tackles.

Deion Sanders Promises CFP Run From Colorado Next Season

Deion Sanders has boldly promised that Colorado will go from four wins to a top-12 team in the nation next season. “I want those problems, give me those problems. Leaving out a Florida State and a Georgia, that’s why I’m glad it’s increased next year, and guess who is going to be in?” Sanders said on The Dan LeBatard Show.

Next year, the CFP will expand from four teams to 12. The field will comprise the six highest-ranked conference champions plus the six highest-ranked non-champions. This means that to qualify, Colorado either needs to win the Big 12 (and maintain the Big 12’s status as a Power 5 division) or finish ranked in the top 12 at season’s end. That’s a monumental ask from a team that rarely looked competitive beyond their non-conference slate this season.

Coaches Doubt Colorado Will Turn Around Next Season

However, the odds are stacked against Sanders. Several college coaches are skeptical that things will improve for Deion Sanders and Colorado in 2024. Six coaches spoke anonymously to The Athletic. All six cast doubt on Sanders’ notion that the Buffaloes are headed in the right direction. Many of the coaches pointed to Sanders’ recruiting as a major sticking point. While Sanders did well recruiting at the skill positions, both the offensive and defensive lines were some of the worst in college football. Colorado gave up the second most sacks in the country with 56. Furthermore, as one coach noted to The Athletic, the transfer portal will contain around 30 “Power 5-caliber” offensive linemen. However, 65 Power 5 schools are vying for their commitment. Sanders did get a boost in this department, recently earning the commitment of the best OL recruit of 2024.

Furthermore, many coaches noted that Sanders has not been good to his coaches. He demoted offensive coordinator Sean Lewis after a 3-1 start because the Buffs were blown out by Oregon. Lewis has since left to become the head coach at San Diego State. The coaches who spoke with The Athletic predicted an exodus of coaching talent out of Colorado, with Sanders struggling to attract the game’s top assistants. For his part, Sanders has so far teased that former NFL star Warren Sapp will be joining his coaching staff next season. Sapp has no coaching experience at any level. However, he is the sort of headline-grabbing name Sanders has chased throughout his time at Colorado.

Jayson Tatum Rails Against In-Season Tournament Tiebreaker

Jayson Tatum has become the latest NBA star to speak out against the In-Season Tournament tiebreaker rules. “We was in the game and I was like, I remember I tapped, I think it was Torrey Craig. I was like ‘yo bro, I don’t really want to be out here right now.’ Cause we were up 30 going into the fourth. If it was a Wednesday I would have been sitting on the bench and the younger guys would have gotten in. It just didn’t feel right,” Tatum told SB Nation‘s Point Break podcast.

The primary tie-breaker for the in-season tournament was point differential. This meant that come the final games of the group stage, teams were running up the score as much as they could to try and make the next round. This led to the bizarre, and uncomfortable, scenes of full starting lineups playing late into games with 30- or 40-point scoring gaps. Boston began fouling Andre Drummond so much to force him to shoot three throws that their coach openly apologized mid-game to his counterpart in Chicago.

In-Season Tournament A Success, But Players Hate The Tiebreaker

As mentioned, Tatum is just the latest player to speak out against the bizarre rule. The Celtics kept their starters in throughout the fourth quarter despite starting the frame up 29. Similarly, the Knicks scored 35 in the fourth quarter against the five-win Hornets to ensure they secured the Eastern Conference wildcard spot on point differential.

“It was interesting. I don’t really like it. We were focused, at first, just about winning. The last couple of minutes it feels weird. At a certain point, you just start chasing points, doing all that. So it kind of messes with the integrity of the game a little bit,” the Knicks’ Josh Hart said. “To be honest, it was a little weird, but the ultimate goal was to come out and get a win tonight, and that’s what we did. It’s tough because that’s just not how the game is supposed to be played. You’ve got to respect your opponents,” the Celtics’ Jaylen Brown added.

Cross-Country Skier Suffers Bizarre, NSFW Injury During Race

Cross-country skier Calle Halfvarsson suffered a unique injury during a recent race in Finland. Speaking with Swedish newspaper Expressen, Halfvarsson explained that he realized that his penis had frozen towards the end of the race. “I have frozen the muscle. For real. Damn, I had to lie in there for ten minutes to warm it up,” he explained. However, even more bizarrely, it’s not the first time that Halfvarsson’s penis has frozen during this exact race. “It’s lucky that I’m going to have my second child because this is going to be difficult in the future if I’m going to continue like this,” Halfvarsson joked. As for the sensation of your penis freezing, Halfvarsson described it as the “worst thing you can imagine”.

However, it’s not the first time that this has happened. During the 2022 Winter Olympics in 2022, Finnish skier Remi Lindholm suffered a frozen penis on the final day of events. It had been a rough go of things for the men’s 50km mass start freestyle. Bad weather saw the race delayed by an hour and then reduced to a 30km race. After finishing 28th, Lindholm was seen asking for a heat pack to help thaw out his penis. Apparently, it had frozen at some point during the race. Ironically, Lindholm has also suffered a frozen penis at Ruka, the same event where Halfvarsson suffered his.

Meanwhile, the French Alps and Salt Lake City are the “preferred hosts” for the 2030 and 2034 Winter Olympics respectively. The two sites are the first Winter Olympics to be selected under the IOC’s new selection framework. Under these new criteria, the IOC can forgo the traditional multi-bid format and instead engage in “targeted discussions” with preferential hosts. According to a press release by the IOC, the hope is to formalize the two bids at the 142nd IOC session in Paris next July.

Furthermore, the choices mean that five of the next six Olympiads are scheduled to take place in either Europe or the United States. Paris will host the 2024 Summer Olympics, while a trio of Italy cities will host the 2026 Winter Olympics. Furthermore, Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics. The only non-Western Hemisphere Games currently on the books will be the 2032 Summer Olympics. That event is scheduled to be hosted in Brisbane, Australia. Both of the previous Olympiads were hosted in Asia. Tokyo hosted the 2020 Summer Olympics while Beijing hosted the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Michael Chandler Tackles Ric Flair: Watch

A video has gone viral on social media showing UFC veteran Michael Chandler tackling 74-year-old wrestling legend Ric Flair. According to Chandler, who spoke about the video with TMZ, it was all part of Flair showing him “the art”. The pair have regularly collaborated on a series of adverts for Car Shield, with their latest spot set to drop next week. So, for anyone concerned for the aging Flair, it was all just part of Chandler learning some WWE-style stage work.

Chandler, who served as a stable head on the most recent series of The Ultimate Fighter, is expected to return to the Octagon against Connor McGregor at some point in 2024. However, that all depends on McGregor’s continued recovery from a broken leg and whether the Irishman still wants to fight Chandler.

Conor McGregor “Raps” During Twitter Feud

Speaking on McGregor, he’s been involved in some viral social media content of his own this week. McGregor tried his hand at rapping after getting into a feud on X, formerly Twitter. McGregor posted a 2-minute verse aimed at Scott Moore, a political commentator and battle rapper from Northern Ireland, after Moore called McGregor “a profoundly stupid person”. McGregor’s stilted verse took aim at Moore’s appearance and Northern Irish origin. However, like many of McGregor’s tweets, it was quickly deleted from McGregor’s page. Moore still responded to McGregor’s verse with one of his own, going as far as to essentially call McGregor an English collaborator. However, his call for McGregor to face him in person was short-lived as McGregor simply chose to block him instead.

All of this stemmed from McGregor posting a selfie with the caption “Ireland, your President”. That’s what sparked the original comment from Moore. Furthermore, Moore informed McGregor that it was below the belt to go after his appearances and mannerisms. Moore says he suffers from a mental health condition that causes him to pick at his skin. Furthermore, he is also autistic, meaning there are many mannerisms he can’t control. Unfortunately, the prevailing opinion online was that this was another L for the MMA great.
