Patrick Beverley Gets Suprised By Rashad McCants On “Gil’s Arena” After Heated Exchange Last Year

Patrick Beverley and Rashad McCants got into the latest episode of Gilbert Arenas’ podcast, “Gil’s Arena.” The two have a history of beef. Last year, when Pat Bev made an appearance on the show, he and McCants got into a heated argument. Beverly claimed to make Rashad McCants quit during a workout in the NBA, and the two got at each other’s throats from there. Now, Patrick Beverley has returned to the program. Now, the two have gone head to head again in another tense meeting.

Prior to making an NBA debut, Patrick Beverley had to put in a lot of work playing abroad. Beverley worked out for a few NBA teams during that period, and it seems like he had an intriguing tryout with Rashad McCants and the Lakers in 2012. The Lakers invited the two in for a tryout while Beverley was attempting to get into the NBA, and McCants was trying to figure out how to stay in it. Both players had very different stories about what transpired during the workout. From Beverley’s point of view, McCants was forced to give up on the exercise and quit because he was determined to do all in his power to make the Lakers squad. Now, they are revisiting their beef.

Patrick Beverley And Rashad McCants Clash Once Again

Patrick Beverley made his appearance on Gilbert Arenas’s show, and everything was going fine. Then the room goes pitch black, and WWE’s The Undertaker’s music starts playing. Rashad Mccants appears and catches Patrick Beverley off guard. The Bucks guard was adamant he knew it was coming. Beverley tried to just ignore the situation by pivoting to some basketball talk, acting as if he was unfazed. Everyone else seemed very interested in the two having an exchange.

“I finished the workout, coach (Darvin) Ham was the person running the workout, he came to me before the season started. ‘Hey man, you remember that workout we had, man? You made him quit.’ I forgot about it. I said ‘Damn, I did make a motherf***er quit,’” Patrick Beverley said in his last appearance in Gil’s Arena. McCants certainly did not forget about the exchange and had a hilarious entrance to unstelle the room. Overall, Patrick Beverley and Rasha dMcCants had a very awkward appearance on Gils show.

Darren Waller Drops New Song Addressing Retirement Rumours

In a recent music video, Waller discussed his romantic past and divorce from WNBA player Kelsey Plum. Waller chose an actress with Plum’s physical appearance to represent his love interest in the video. Plum is the clear target of the messages from the song’s title, lyrics, and music video. Following their April split, Kelsey had indicated that she was heartbroken. Hardly a year had gone by since they were married. The Las Vegas Aces guard, upon hearing the news, said, “I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go.” Now, Waller seems to be going after a music career now that his marriage and NFL career are likely over.

Waller told Dan Duggan of The Athletic that he was “undecided at the moment” about continuing to play football. He explained, “It’s really the idea of signing up for another journey. It’s tough, it’s long, it requires a lot. And if you’re not fully bought into every single thing of the process, it’s going to be tough. I feel like, at the end of the day, you’re doing guys a disservice if you’re not all the way in. So those are the kinds of things I’m taking into account.” Overall, it seems like Waller is enjoying music more than football.

Pat McAfee Under Fire For Calling Caitlin Clark A “White B*tch” And Claiming The Treatment She Receives Is Racially Motivated

The Caitlin Clark discourse continues to devolve and has become something of a toxic subject. Pat McAfee has now thrown his hat into the defense team for Caitlin Clark in a wild rant on his ESPN show. It was inevitable that Pat McAfee would talk about the incident on his TV program as soon as it was revealed that he was there at Saturday’s Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky game, which saw Sky player Chennedy Carter push Fever guard Caitlin Clark to the ground. McAfee attacked unidentified WNBA players and the media, defending Clark’s status as the lone superstar in the rookie class for about ten minutes. He used the terms “cash cow” and “one white b—- who is a superstar” to emphasize his points.

McAfee began the show by talking about how Clark has been the target of a lot of trash talk from players on other teams. He had a message for the sports media and former WNBA players. “There seems to be this notion that this whole evolution of success and popularity in the WNBA is because of this entire rookie class. I think there’s a chance Chennedy Carter thinks [Sky rookie forward] Angel Reese deserves all this credit. The media talks about how it’s the entire class,” McAfee said. He says that there is only one person in the rookie class who matters, and that is Caitlin Clark. He then went off the handle.

Pat McAfee Calls Caitlin Clark A “White B*tch”

The unexpected statement from McAfee came just as he was about to conclude the program, though. He said, “I would like the media people that continue to say, ‘This rookie class, this rookie class, this rookie class’. Nah, just call it for what it is — there’s one white b—- for the Indiana team who is a superstar.” using that language crosses a very hard line. It doesn’t matter if it’s a compliment or meant as a positive, it is disrespectful. Fans have been going at Pat McAffee since he made the shocking statements. WNBA referees and anonymous critics were the targets of McAfee’s subsequent tirades.

The WNBA is a majority-black league, but there have been white superstars plenty in the WNBA both past and present. The Caitlin Clark situation has created a discourse chamber that benefits form people who don’t really care about women’s basketball getting riled up about Clark. Overall, if this continues at this rate, the WNBA season will keep devolving into these same toxic talking points.

Brandon McManus Cut By Commanders Over Shocking Sexual Assault Allegations

The Commanders have dismissed Brandon McManus, a former Super Bowl champion who inked a lucrative free-agent contract with Washington in March after claims that he sexually assaulted two flight attendants last year. The women filed the case in Duval County, Florida, last month, alleging the following against the 32-year-old kicker. Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II claimed that McManus, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ player at the time, acted inappropriately toward them. They were working on a private aircraft that the team had scheduled for September 28, 2023, in the United Kingdom.

According to Doe I in the lawsuit, McManus allegedly repeatedly grinded on her, grabbed her on many occasions, and even attempted to kiss her once. According to her, none of the acts were consenting. Doe II said that on the same aircraft, McManus had behaved similarly toward her. In the lawsuit, each requested undisclosed damages. Nevertheless, the Commanders ousted McManus on Sunday without providing an explanation. However, earlier this week, they issued a statement on the lawsuit in which they stated that they “take allegations of this nature very seriously.”

Brandon McManus Cut Over Recent Sexual Assault Allegations

The accusations were deemed “absolutely fictitious and demonstrably false” by Brandon McManus’s lawyer, Brett R. Gallaway, following their public release. Sunday night, Gallaway released a revised statement stating that they “are disappointed with the team’s decision to release Brandon before he had the opportunity to defend against these fabricated claims.” “Aggressively defend and clear Brandon’s name and reputation through the legal process,” he continued.

The victims have requested a jury trial. Additionally, they are suing the NFL player and the Jaguars for more than $1 million in damages. The Jaguars were named by women in their complaint as well for failing to provide a safe working environment for employees and to oversee McManus. In a statement, the Jaguars stated that they were “into the matter.” In 2014, McManus made his NFL debut with the Denver Broncos. Before signing with the Jaguars in 2023, he played for nine seasons in the Mile High City. He signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract earlier this year to start in 2024 with the Commanders.

Darren Waller Is Expected To Retire From The NFL Amid Kelsey Plum Debacle

After nine seasons in the NFL, Darren Waller’s career is anticipated to come to an end amid the Kelsey Plum debacle. According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Waller is expected to make a decision on his future before the New York Giants’ obligatory minicamp the following week. Some in the club anticipate that he will announce his retirement. Waller has a three-year contract that pays a basic salary of $10.5 million in 2024. However, there is no money guarantee left in the agreement. The financial impact of Waller’s retirement on the Giants is significant. They will receive a $7.9 million dead cap charge and save $6.2 million this season against the cap if Waller does decide to retire.

Last week, Waller released a new music video where he talked about his love life and divorce from WNBA star Kelsey Plum. Waller cast an actress who looked similar to Plum to play his love interest in the video. The title, lyrics, and music video of the song may be a message to Plum. Kelsey had expressed that she was devastated after their separation in April. Barely a year passed during their marriage. After the news emerged, the Las Vegas Aces guard remarked, “I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go.”

Darren Waller Might Retire Immediately

Darren Waller’s journey with the Giants began in March 2023. He played a significant role for them. This offseason, there has been a cloud of uncertainty over Waller’s future. On March 7, Waller shared with Dan Duggan of The Athletic that he was “undecided at the moment” about continuing to play. So those are the kinds of things I’m taking into account.”

All in all, The potential impact of Waller’s retirement on the Giants is a matter of concern. They could face a significant financial shift and a void in their offensive lineup. Furthermore, Waller has the fifth-most receiving yards of any tight end between 2019 and 2023, with 3,946. In 86 games, he will have finished with 4,124 yards and 20 touchdowns. Overall, it seems like things have been unraveling for Waller since the lead-up to his divorce from Kelsey Plum.

Monica McNutt Absolutely Cooks Stephen A. Smith For Lack Of WNBA Coverage

With her early games with the Indiana Fever shattering WNBA audience records on numerous networks, former Iowa standout Caitlin Clark has drawn a tremendous amount of attention to the WNBA. That attention comes with a great deal of scrutiny, and both on and off the court, Clark faces a lot of opposition as she learns to negotiate the difficulties of life as a professional. Some of the coverage has gotten out of hand with personalities like Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe now speaking as authorities on a sport they have not shown an interest in until this season. ESPN basketball analyst Monica McNutt called out Stephen A. Smith during First Take while debating the WNBA.

This past weekend, after Clark’s Fever narrowly defeated Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, things reached a fever pitch. Before the game, Clark had expressed that she thought she was being “hammered” and wasn’t receiving the calls she deserved. However, late in the third quarter, Sky guard Chennedy Carter, who was waiting for an inbound pass, slammed her down from behind. The foul caused the Caitlin Clark discourse to get even worse. When the topic of the event came up at the First Take desk on Monday, Stephen A. Smith, Shannon Sharpe, and Monica McNutt got into a heated debate over it. McNutt concluded by criticizing Stephen A. for not bringing up the WNBA until this year.

Monica McNutt Calls Out Stephen A. Smith

Stephen A. Smith said, “Who talks about the WNBA, who talks about women, who talks about women’s sports more than First Take?” Monica McNutt returned fire, clapping back with, “Stephen A., respectfully, with your platform, you could have been doing this three years ago if you wanted to.” Stephen A. Smiths’ face turned white when McNutt jabbed back. Fans pointed out how shaken Stephen A. Smith was at the clapback, citing there is a lot of truth to her criticism. Despite the fact that McNutt is 100% accurate, Smith looked surprised and angry by McNutt’s remarks.

Like many devoted WNBA fans, McNutt is obviously annoyed by the lack of subtlety in the conversation surrounding the league at the moment and was prepared to do what few do on Smith’s show: call him out live. The conversation around the WNBA and Caitlin Clark has several layers and is pretty nuanced. Nuance and layers are not something Stephen A. Smith or Shannon Sharpe are interested in covering, if we are being honest. Overall, Monica McNutt stood on business and is completely right.

Cam’ron Fires Back At Anthony Edwards With A Savage Freestyle

Anthony Edwards and Adidas took a shot at the wrong podcaster. In reaction to Adidas including the rapper in a commercial directed at Edwards’ detractors, Cam’ron unleashed a scathing freestyle, criticizing the Minnesota Timberwolves guard for using the term “f–k buddy.” While the barbs directed at Edwards were not too harmful, Cam’ron’s rage was directed mostly against Adidas. Before delivering the finest line of the freestyle, Cam’ron blamed Adidas for the injuries to John Wall, Tracy McGrady, and Derrick Rose. He rapped. “You know Kevin Ware? Google what was on his toes.”

The guard for Louisville, Ware, had a horrific leg injury during the 2013 NCAA tournament. Adidas and Louisville have a sponsorship deal. Cam’ron also warned that Adidas might fire Edwards if he said something the brand “didn’t like.” He alluded to Kanye West, whose relationship with Adidas was terminated. Naturally, that’s not quite true. Adidas supported West through many scandals until deciding to fire him following a string of racist outbursts. Anthony Edwards may have bit off more than he can chew, dissing Cam’ron who was quick with a response.

Cam’Ron’s New Freestyle Addresses Anthony Edwards

Edwards has not yet replied, so it would be best to avoid this one. A basketball player can only become so involved in a rap feud, and Cam’ron has only put out one album in the previous fifteen years. He still has a lot of bars in storage, so he probably won’t think twice about continuing this feud—especially if it ends up increasing the number of people who listen to his podcast. Adidas and any other marketing outlet should take note of this: even in jest, don’t utilize rappers as the brunt of your joke. You never know when anything may go wrong.

Overall, Anthony Edwards and Cam’ron will probably be cool after all of this. Cam had no problem showing Ant love on the podcast, and the commercial obviously hit a sore spot since he likes Edwards as a player. It would be shocking if Anthony Edwards released his own freestyle in the coming days. If that unlikely event happens, we will be sure to cover it.

Justin Jefferson Is Now The Highest Paid Non-Quarterback In NFL History

This offseason, the Minnesota Vikings saw significant roster changes. Two of their stars, Kirk Cousins to Atlanta and Danielle Hunter to the Texans, left the team in free agency. They also made some significant additions of their own. They added Aaron Jones from the rival Packers and Jonathan Greenard to lead a revamped defensive line. In the Draft, Minnesota moved up to take QB JJ McCarthy at No. 10 overall. Even though the roster saw significant changes, the Vikings’ primary goal had to be signing All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson to a new contract. Signing JJ would be smart so that they could give McCarthy, their prospective franchise quarterback, a genuine top target.

The market was reset a couple of times as Jefferson and the Vikings took their time in negotiating a contract while other elite receivers received big salaries throughout the league. After much negotiation, the agreement was ultimately completed on Monday. Adam Schefter revealed the terms of the four-year, $140 million contract, which includes a $110 million guarantee. This makes Jefferson the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

Justin Jefferson Signs Highest Contract Ever For A Receiver

Jefferson has been one of the NFL’s best receivers since being selected in the first round out of LSU and moving to Minnesota. Despite playing just 10 games due to injuries last year, he managed to surpass the 1,000-yard mark, something he has never done before in a season. With 5,899 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns in his first four years in the NFL, Jefferson has been recognized for three All-Pro selections (one on the first team) and won the 2022 AP Offensive Player of the Year award.

His new pay surpasses the large contract the San Francisco 49ers awarded defensive end Nick Bosa the previous season. Furthermore, it is higher than other recent wide receiver agreements, such as those inked by Amon-Ra St. Brown and A.J. Brown earlier this summer. Bosa’s annual salary is almost $34 million, but Jefferson has surpassed him by more than a million dollars. He is now committed to the Vikings for the long haul, and in order to maintain his high caliber of play, he will aim to develop a rapport with the team’s new quarterback.

Shannon Sharpe Goes Off On WNBA Players For Their Treatment Of Caitlin Clark And Angel Reese

Chennedy Carter pushed Caitlin Clark hard on Saturday when she was waiting at the baseline to accept an inbound pass, sparking speculation about possible deliberate targeting of Clark. The basketball community has taken notice of Carter’s foul on Clark during the Indiana Fever’s most recent game against the Chicago Sky. Additionally, Alyssa Thomas targeted Angel Reese with a vicious flagrant foul that got her ejected from their game last week. Many new fans and pundits who are finally watching WNBA basketball have decried the treatment of the rookies that have come in, especially Caitlin Clark. Shannon Sharpe used some strong words when discussing how the league welcomes rookies.

Shannon Sharpe joined the outraged supporters, calling Carter’s play on Clark a “Bush League play.” Sharpe said that WNBA experienced players are “mad” at rookies like Clark and Reese because they are receiving more attention during an interview with Chad Johnson on the “Nightcap” program. This seems to be the big topic of discussion within the WNBA as thousands of new fans are keeping up with the game. Sharpe called out the vets of the league, echoing Charles Barkley and LeBron’s defense for Caitlin Clark, essentially calling all the other women in the league jealous.

Shannon Sharpe Defends Caitlin Clark And Angel Reese

“That was not basketball … that’s Bush League. They are mad at Caitlin Clark, they are mad at Angel Reese because they are the Bird and Magic, and they are getting the attention. That was a Bush League play,” Shannon Sharpe told Johnson. Sharpe went on to say that the WNBA has never received as much attention as it has at the moment. He brought up A’Ja Wilson, the two-time MVP of the league, landing a footwear contract upon Clark’s arrival. It is kind of insulting to insinuate that a two-time MVP is only getting a deal because of Clark. There are already numerous women in the WNBA who have signature shoes.

Some of Caitlin Clark’s defending is warranted. Some are going a little overboard. Before Caitlin Clark was hit with a hard foul, she was seen chirping and getting in Chennedy Carter’s face. Caitlin Clark is a talented player but did a lot of “bush league” stuff in college to her credit. The difference is she was able to get away with it in college. But now she is finding it hard to get away with it in the WNBA. Overall, Shannon Sharpe thinks everyone is being unfair when, in reality, the conversation around her is bigger than anything going on on the court.
