Ryan Garcia seems to have been successful in hyping up his Devin Haney fight last night (Saturday, April 20), because it resulted in a big upset. Garcia beat the WBC junior lightweight title holder by majority decision after 12 rounds at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, knocking him down to the ground thrice throughout. The first was with a left hook to the head in the seventh round, and two more in the tenth and eleventh rounds, respectively. However, Haney still has his title, since his opponent did not make weight before the match-up. Still, it was a pretty exciting match that its losing competitor reflected on via Twitter in the wee hours of Sunday (April 21).

Of course, this battle followed a lot of antics and social media firestorms mostly caused by Ryan Garcia’s unabashed and often bizarre claims and takes. For example, he recently claimed that Drake slept with Bobbi Althoff, thus causing her divorce and resulting in the odd falling-out that they seemed to have online following their interview, and none of this has been confirmed. As for Devin Haney, he mostly stayed out of these things although he’s no stranger to public scrutiny. Still, when compared to Garcia’s antics and his relentless addresses of any other topic besides boxing, it seems like his composure wasn’t enough to cinch the victory.

Meanwhile, with no lost title here, perhaps the San Francisco native will feel even more pressured to defend it next time, as this loss could have a big impact. Or maybe he will instead have to look elsewhere for inspiration, as we don’t really know how he interprets this loss. Is the technicality comforting or does it add insult to injury? Michael Porter Jr.’s Brother Coban Porter Sentenced To Six Years In Prison For Fatal DUI

The Brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. is now sentenced to six years in prison for a fatal DUI. Overall, Coban Porter was found guilty of DUI vehicular homicide after pleading guilty to the charges. Porter entered a plea agreement earlier this year and admitted to the crime of crashing into and killing Kathy Rothman. Additionally, Porter admitted to driving drunk in the early hours of the morning on January 22nd. After running a red light, Porter crashed into the victim’s driver’s side.

As part of his plea deal, Coban Porter will serve six years in prison. He could have served up to eight years, but the judge sentenced him to two different charges that will run concurrently. Rothman was a mother and Uber Driver and was working the night she was killed by Porter. Connie Johnson, Rothman’s mother, said of the ruling, “This pain and trauma has become my worst reality.” She continued, “My life ended along with my sweet, innocent daughter.” The victim’s family has filed two other lawsuits. One lawsuit alleges the bar Coban Porter was at overserved him.

“You have clearly been called upon, for lack of a better phrase, to make good on this tragedy,” said Denver District Court Judge Ericka Englert, speaking to Coban Porter. “Do what you can to use this opportunity to educate others” about the dangers of driving drunk.” Englert also added that the fact that Coban seems like a good person adds to the tragedy of the case. In their testimony, Coban Porter’s family and friends praised him as a good person and gifted basketball player. Additionally, they described him as a man of real regret, kindness, and compassion.

During his freshman year in 2021–2022, Coban Porter started eight games for the University of Denver basketball team. Coban admitted in his testimony that this wasn’t the first time he had driven drunk. Additionally, he said the crime was not an accident. “All I can really say is ‘I’m sorry,’” Porter said. “I hope that somehow, someway, I’ll be able to make a difference.” Additionally, Jontay Porter, brother of Michal and Coban, was recently banned from the NBA for life for violating the league’s betting policies.

Martin was a guest on the Rubbing is Racing podcast, where he discussed his career, among other things. The retired NASCAR great got to talking about his musical tastes and professed his love of Gucci Mane’s music. “I’ma tell you right now, in my opinion, there is no one in the same zip code as Gucci Mane,” said Martin. He continued, “If I rapped, I would never do a duo with him. Every time he does one with anybody, he just crushes them. I mean, this guy is unbelievable.” He explained that he prefers the old Gucci to the new Gucci, saying he liked it when he was “fat and scary.”

Martin explained his rap evolution, saying it started with Dr. Dre in the early 2000s. Then, from Dre, he shifted to Eminem. The NASCAR great discovered Gucci Mane from one of his son’s friends and never looked back. He was heavy into the music, saying he had to download mixtapes because you couldn’t find Wops stuff on iTunes.
