You fell for me, I count on you when times are tough
Instead of holdin’ you down, I should lift you up

“Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” Opens To Rave Reviews

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was a sensational hit when it premiered in 2018. The Sony production veered away from the Disney/MCU style of Spider-Man and focused on Miles Morales. The studio weaved a poignant origin story for the character’s feature film debut alongside a truly gorgeous art style.

A sequel was quickly greenlit and has been eagerly anticipated by fans. Building on the foundations of Into The Spider-Verse, Across The Spider-Verse looks to expand the universe of the original film, once asking the question “What does it mean to be Spider-Man?” while also avoiding simply making the same film twice. Instead of Miles learning the ropes, his abilities and ideology will now be put to the test in myriad ways. The film also added a wealth of talent to an already stacked cast. Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, and Oscar Issac are just some of the A-listers joining the cast.

Reviews Love “Across The Spider-Verse”

Across The Spider-Verse premieres on June 2, but critics’ reviews have now been made public. In short – they love the film. Across the Spider-Verse has opened with a 97% critic’s rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Mike Ryan of Uproxx has called it “One of the most, if not the most, immersive superhero stories going, pushing far beyond the boundaries of what superhero stories should and could be.” Meanwhile, Clarisse Loughrey of The Independent summarized the film as “Out of every multiverse, this is the easiest to root for.”

The positive praise continued. Empire Magazine‘s Ben Travis noting that “Across The Spider-Verse cranks every dial to 11, and somehow doesn’t collapse in on itself. Visually astonishing, emotionally powerful, narratively propulsive — it’s another masterpiece.” However, not every critic was a fan. Tim Robey of The Telegraph argued that the film “gets drunk on itself – sometimes sad-drunk to the brink of a hangover, slurrily outstaying its welcome.” Despite some detractors, it’s clear that fans should prepare themselves for another powerfully emotional, visually stunning spectacle. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse releases in the United States on June 2. Follow all the latest film news here at HotNewHipHop.

Metro Boomin Adds Lil Wayne, Nas & 2 Chainz To “Spider-Man” Soundtrack

Miles Morales returns this Friday with the release of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. However, it’s the film’s soundtrack that has many non-Marvel fans ecstatic. With Metro Boomin at the helm of the upcoming project, he’s undoubtedly brought in a number of his close collaborators and friends, many of which are already staples on our regular playlists. He previously confirmed James Blake, Don Toliver, and Future would appear on the project. However, he’s unveiled more names as we get closer to the soundtrack’s release date.

On Tuesday (May 30th), Metro Boomin confirmed a slew of other stars who will grace the project. His buddy Nav will appear on the tracklist, along with Coi Leray, Lil Uzi Vert, Offset, JID, Swae Lee, and more. He also tapped international stars like WizKid and Toian to flesh out the Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse tracklist. While many of the artists collaborating with Metro on the project are from his generation, he’s tapped a few legendary figures with decades under their belt to join him on the sonic experience.

Metro Boomin will bring on some of rap’s most revered lyricists for the upcoming Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack. The St. Louis producer shared Weezy’s Spidersona on his Instagram post. “The best rapper alive Lil Wayne is confirmed for the @spiderversemovie soundtrack available everywhere June 2nd!!” he captioned the post. Afterward, he confirmed Metro also confirmed Nas as a feature on the forthcoming effort.

As impressive as the features are already, it wouldn’t be a Metro Boomin effort without a collaboration from 21 Savage, who he also confirmed would appear on the tracklist. Additionally, A$AP Rocky, who he apparently has loads of music with, will also appear on the project. We’ll also find Metro Boomin and 2 Chainz connect for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse OST. At this rate, it seems like Metro won’t be releasing a single, leaving us waiting until Friday’s release date.

Nas, 21 Savage & A$AP Rocky Confirmed

The star-studded tracklist will certainly have bangers to ride out to this summer. Even though it’s been a few months since Metro Boomin released Heroes & Villains, his upcoming soundtrack for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is already shaping up to be an incredible follow-up by the features alone. Metro Boomin Confirms 3 Features On “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” OST

Only a few months removed from the release of his sophomore album, Heroes & Villains, Metro Boomin has even more music in the stash. This time, Metro is joining Miles Morales in the Spider-Verse for the sequel to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The St. Louis hitmaker confirmed that he would be executive producing the soundtrack in its entirety, which means that some of his good friends and collaborators will join him on the project. The question is: who?

On Wednesday, Metro Boomin shared an update on the project including a few of the features. He took to social media where he confirmed Don Toliver, James Blake, and Future would appear on the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. With the project due out on June 2nd, we could imagine that he’ll be leaving a few more hints before the release date. Hopefully, he’ll dish out a new single to give us a preview of what he has in store on the upcoming project.

Metro Boomin Executive Produces Spider-Man Soundtrack

Perhaps, the revealed features aren’t much of a surprise at this point. In a new Hyundai commercial, Metro Boomin debuted his new collaboration with Don Toliver for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack. Additionally, he previously hinted at Future’s contribution to the OST, too. However, there are a few other names attached to the project that he’s yet to confirm himself. Coi Leray hinted at her presence on the project, as well as Nav, who changed his profile picture on Instagram to the Spider-Verse logo.

Speaking of Nav, it seems that Metro Boomin’s next project in the stash is the follow-up to Perfect Timing. The follow-up to their 2017 collaboration was confirmed at Festival Metro Metro in Montreal, QC this weekend where both artists performed. “Y’all make some noise for my brother, NAV,” Metro said during his set. “We got that ‘Perfect Timing 2‘ on the way, n***as is waiting on it! Wait on it! Wait on it!” It seems that there’s no shortage of new music to wait on from Metro Boomin. Who else do you want to see on the Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack?
