Morray Looks To Make It “Out The Hole” On Motivational New Single

Despite the low output, Fayetteville, North Carolina singer and rapper Morray is an exciting talent. Most may remember him from his uplifting feature on J. Cole’s “m y . l i f e” from The Off-Season. However, he’s been on plenty of other major projects like ones from Macklemore, Busta Rhymes, as well on the soundtracks for Creed III and Madden NFL 22. But as we said, the solo catalog remains pretty short, as he has dropped just one album which landed in 2021. Hopefully, though, Morray is working toward ending the drought with “Out The Hole” being a potential sign of that.

This is the EMPIRE affiliate’s third release of the year, with the previous two dropping on YouTube exclusively. Morray is known for his preacher-like voice and inspirational messages. “Out The Hole” provides more of those trademark qualities in addition to his singing and rapping style. Over a southern-style beat, Morray belts out lines about how much he’s improved his life over the years. The chorus is especially an amazing display of his vocal range, as he raps, “From the bottom to the top, a n**** made it out of the motherf***in’ ho-o-ole / Blue car, big crib, this ain’t how I used to live, n****, no-oh-oh / You be actin’ like you n****s know, but you n****s don’t really f***in’ know-oh-oh.” If you’re in the market for some empowerment this song has it in a surplus amount.

N****s be tryna find the exit after gettin’ the grand, it’s big
Loyalty shouldn’t come with no price

But can’t bake they own cake, so I ain’t givin’ up mine
Be Tony Hawk, get on board, n****, learn how to grind (Whoa-oh-oh)

Maxo Kream Showcases Three Unique Perspectives On “Personification”

Maxo Kream has brought us Personification, his fourth official album of his underappreciated career. The Houston storyteller had given us several potential glimpses into this project throughout the year. At times, they were extremely hard-hitting and personal. “No Then You A H*e” still holds the top spot in terms of our favorite Maxo tracks from 2024. However, the episodic recalling on “Big H*e Me” is certainly in contention as well. But instead of continuing to hone his already well-established tracks in this vein, he’s been giving us some more loose bangers such as “Bang The Bus” too. This diversity is something that Maxo Kream was looking to achieve on this new album.

There are three perspectives that he raps from on Personification and they are Trigger Maxo, Punken, and Emekwanem. Trigger is the more brash and gangster-like profile, so “Big H*e Me.” As for Punken, a reference to his fourth overall project, is the more introspective and thought-provoking side. Then, there’s the latter which is his government name, and it represents his current lifestyle as a father and role model of sorts. The overall idea of Personification is an interesting one, however, it doesn’t feel fully realized. Maybe dividing the personas into discs may have helped get the idea across more effectively as all of them feel jumbled together. But there are good tracks that most fans will appreciate.

SahBabii Returns From A Two-Year Absence With “Saaheem”

SahBabii had a lot of buzz surrounding him in the late 2010’s thanks to a couple of semi-viral singles. The biggest of those was his Loso Loaded collaboration “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick,” which has accumulated over 52 million plays on Spotify. His blends of melodic rap, pop rap, and trap on that cut were extremely intoxicating and its why it’s had sort of a cult-like following since. The S.A.N.D.A.S. project ranks as one of his most important records, including its follow-up Squidtastic. However, after those, SahBabii has been playing more of a background role, but he hasn’t totally disappeared either. For most of the 2020s, the 27-year-old has appeared on several major albums.

Some of them include Lyrical Lemonade’s debut All Is Yellow, NAV and Wheezy’s Emergency Tsunami, and Trippie Redd’s A Love Letter To You 4. On top of this, he hasn’t been the easiest to keep tabs on. His social media profiles are wiped of pretty much any updates. But SahBabii is reemerging right before the end of 2024 to give us a new album called Saaheem. Genius is billing this a sophomore LP, but it’s not totally confirmed. It’s led by just one single, “Lost All My Feelings,” which hit streaming back in 2023. Overall, the production is one of our favorite aspects of it as it all sounds well put together without many hiccups. See what you think of Saaheem and let us know what you think below.

BigXthaPlug Brings Charm & Realness To His Sophomore Album “TAKE CARE”

Dallas, Texas native BigXthaPlug has stomped into this year with some big expectations. After two successful projects, AMAR and THE BIGGEST, he earned XXL Freshman honors. He joined fellow Texans That Mexican OT and 4batz on that list and it’s going to be interesting to see who separates themselves from one another. So far, we may have to give the slight edge to BigXthaPlug, as he arguably has the best project out all of them now with TAKE CARE. This is his sophomore alum, and it’s all him. The features are getting tossed out for this one, as BigX is looking to show us what makes him who he is as a person.

One of those is being a dad, as he expressed how much it means to him that he is one with Apple Music. The father of two tells Ebro, “My kids is what drives me. That’s the reason when I’m tired and I get up every day when I don’t get up, they’re the reason.” He makes sure to highlight just how much they inspire him on “Therapy Session,” an immediate fan favorite. “When I be away from ’em I cry / ‘Cause I love ’em the most, I’d hate for them to ever say that their daddy wasn’t right on they side.” On top of giving fans “The Largest” look behind the curtain, his producers, namely BandPlay, are bringing that Southern charm thanks to some terrific soulful sample usage from all eras.

That Mexican OT, Maxo Kream, & Lil’ Keke Are Battle-Tested On “War Wounds”

That Mexican OT has been having a banner year and it’s seemingly only getting better with the release of “War Wounds.” This is the latest track from the Texas rapper and songwriter, who blew up late last year thanks to the release of the viral “Johnny Dang.” Prior to “War Wounds,” which has guest verses from fellow Texans Maxo Kream and Lil’ Keke, OT dropped off a lowkey cut “1982” with Curren$y and LE$. Nothing has been officially announced yet, but it seems like he’s concocting another project of sorts. He’s already put out Texas Technician, his biggest tape of his burgeoning career.

The 2024 XXL Freshman raps with amazing proficiency, as he rolls his letters to create that now trademark tongue-twisting effect. On “War Wounds,” That Mexican OT is also proving to be a solid chorus writer. Out of all of his tracks, this may be in his top five. The transition from “mosquito” to “wings” is incredibly catchy. Lil’ Keke and Maxo Kream embody OT’s slipperiness on their verses as well, making for a cohesive listen. Additionally, the bass line is groovy and the twinkly keys add a nice eerie effect, as each MC raps about being built tough for all of the BS that comes their way. Check out the Call of Duty inspired music video with the link below.

Monaleo Drops Off Her Sophomore LP “Throwing Bows”

Monaleo is one of the many new femcees looking to build a brand on being uber aggressive on all of their tracks. She’s someone who makes music for the ladies, particularly the single ones out there. Some artists that are trying to carve a niche in this area of rap tend to rely on having a unique voice, solid production, and sticky lyrics. The ones that do have pretty large audiences with some of them including GloRilla, Sexyy Red, and Latto. Sadly, there is quite a large sum of them out there who are still finding their footing. When it comes to rappers like that, they tend to sound like other’s that are most established.

Sadly, at the moment, Monaleo is coming across as that sort of artist on her latest LP, Throwing Bows. What the Houston native does have is good mic presence, but not enough of a discernable voice. In addition, some of her production choices are head scratchers. “Wam Bam” might be the biggest culprit of this, as the Brittney Spears “Toxic” has no place in a song this off the wall. Songs like this one, as well as “Ee-er” and “Flush Em”, have annoyingly repetitive choruses to the point where they come across as lazy. Overall, it’s still early for Monaleo. But for us, there’s too many miscues across the board here.

Ralo Delivers His First Record Since Prison Sentence, “Welcome Home”

Ralo has certainly been through a lot over the last few years, but now he’s feeling better than ever now that Welcome Home is out. The Atlanta, Georgia mainstay was doing six years of time for drug conspiracy charges, and you could tell that around the time of his release, he was feeling all sorts of emotions. It didn’t help that he was remembering the loss of his close friend Marlo. “Marlo told me not to worry he was going to be the first person at the gate waiting on me when this s*** over. My release is in two weeks and I know life goes on, but this s*** aint da same as when we was passing this money around we was all happy and helping each other”.

However, as we said, Ralo was able to persevere and its why we have Welcome Home in front of us today. During our interview with him, he feels that this is what makes him tick as an artist and its why his fans mess with the way he goes about his music. “More people bought into me as a person, you know what I’m saying? Like, what I did for the community, what I do for the community, and you know, the way I was living, the way I was moving”. That earnestness is all over the 16-song tracklist, which has features from Key Glock, Big Moochie Grape, Yungeen Ace, and more. It’s great to have Ralo back in the game and we encourage you to check it out with the links below.

We will continue to provide updates as soon as we hear more about this developing story. For now, show some love to BeatKing’s circle and we will continue to do the same.

BigXthaplug Releases Prideful New Single “The Largest”

2024 XXL Freshman and Dallas, Texas native BigXthaplug is definitely someone to keep your eyes on moving forward. There are certainly a few others that standout from this latest “graduating” class so to speak such as BossMan Dlow, That Mexican OT, and ScarLip. But with an instantly recognizable voice that he can be heard from miles away and a great ear for beats, BigX is going to be one of the topflight names. He really made a name for himself last year with two projects, AMAR and THE BIGGEST. Both of them have successful tracks such as “Texas”, “Levels”, “Mmhmm”, “Climate” with Offset, and more. Additionally, BigX showed what he could do with a more country-like beat on the Shaboozey collaboration, “Drink Don’t Need No Mix”.

That song is helping the new country superstar’s new project, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, do well on the charts. On top of the XXL nod and this massive single, BigXthaplug hasn’t been up to much solo wise. He teamed up with Ro$ama and 600 Ent. for the short team effort tape MEET THE 6IXERS back in May. That’s the closest he’s been to dropping anything for his own catalog. However, that has come to an end as of this weekend with “The Largest”. Produced by his frequent producer pal BandPlay, BigX raps about how far he’s come thanks to all of these aforementioned accomplishments we listed off.

On the second verse though, he gets even more braggadocious and prideful. “I just got off a tour, finna go on another one / Album dumb, finna drop me another one / Couple of Ms, finna run up another one / Super Bowl rings, s***, I had to go double ’em“. Check out the new BigX single with the link below.

Maxo Kream Sees Through The BS On Evilgiane-Assisted “Eye Know”

With a plethora of superstar rappers out of Texas, Maxo Kream continues to be one the states secret treasures. He might not feel that way and his fans may not as well, but there are times when you just simply forget. It is no slight to the veteran because we also feel he is one of the most consistent voices from Houston. That point is backed up from the fact that his output this year has been quite outstanding. Since the beginning of 2024, all he has done is release banger after banger. Him and on-the-rise producer evilgiane started their in-studio chemistry with the raunchy “Bang The Bus”. However, Maxo Kream did a complete style switch-up on “No Then You A H*e”.

A tribute to his recent late father, it is one of the most touching yet hard-hitting songs of his career in our opinion. Then you have the Southern hip-hop homage cut “Talkin In Screw” with That Mexican OT. We can also not forget about his contribution to Denzel Curry’s brand-new album on “SET IT”. All of these incredible tracks lead us to this Maxo Kream’s “Eye Know”. It is only 1:50, but his flows, witty one-liners about seeing through the competition’s fake persona, and light-hearted beat from evilgiane once again all help this song’s memorability factor. At this point, we just need Maxo Kream to end this three-year album drought.
