“American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez”, is a new series from Ryan Murphy coming to FX.

This show is set to be the first season of an anthology series, much like Murphy’s “American Horror Story” or similar to the one about the OJ Simpson trial starring Cuba Gooding Jr. Ya’ll remember that?

The series, jus dropped the first trailer. Written by Stu Zicherman and executive produced by Murphy, it promises to delve into the dramatic and tragic life of former NFL star Aaron Hernandez.

According to the official description, “The first installment of “American Sports Story” is based on the podcast “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.” from “The Boston Globe” and Wondery. The limited series charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and their legacy in sports and American culture.”

The story will explore much of Hernandez’s complexities, including allegations of affairs with men while engaged to Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, who supported him through his conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd.

During the trial, Hernandez was also indicted for the 2012 double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, though he was acquitted in 2017.

Tragically, just days after his acquittal, Hernandez was found dead in his jail cell, an apparent suicide.

SOURCE SPORTS: Rich Paul Reportedly Not Here For Any LeBron to Warriors Trade Talk

Screen Shot 2024 08 18 at 5.34.26 PM

Before anyone gets carried away about the idea of LeBron James wearing a Warriors jersey, take a moment and relax. After Bron and Curry’s gold medal-winning performance at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, there has been a lot of chatter about the two future Hall of Famers paring up in the NBA. Like we said. Chill out.

According to reports, the Warriors attempted to make a blockbuster trade to acquire the four-time NBA MVP before last year’s trade deadline, but discussions didn’t progress far. A major reason for this was the strong opposition from James’ agent, Rich Paul.

So, NBA insider Marc Stein, who cited league sources in his latest Substack, revealed that Paul was “adamantly opposed” to James leaving Southern California for Northern California. Paul was particularly concerned about how the NBA community would perceive James if he switched teams for the fourth time in his career.

“Sources say Paul implored both teams to scrap the concept — despite some owner-to-owner dialogue between the Warriors’ Joe Lacob and the Lakers’ Jeanie Buss and Green’s determination to lobby James to push for relocation to the Bay Area — largely because he wanted to insulate James from potential backlash over switching teams for the fourth time in his career,” Stein wrote.

Aside from Paul’s opposition, the likelihood of LeBron moving to the Warriors seems even more improbable now that his son, Bronny James, was drafted by the Lakers this summer and signed a four-year contract with the team. It would pretty much negate the novelty of the father-son duo we pretty much entertained all summer long.

‘Drake curse’ Is Undefeated: Drizzy Loses Massive Wager On Israel Adesanya Who Loses UFC 305 to Du Plessis

Drake can’t get a break in gambling that is. Drizzy Just took another gambling ‘L’ this time after losing a bet on Israel Adesanya to take down Dricus du Plessis.

The 6 God dropped $450K on the bet hoping “Last Stylebender” Israel Adesanya would pull out a victory versus UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis. The fight was the main event, and unfortunately for Drake, Adesanya was out of commission after a vicious choke submission.

Many Drake haters who watch his losses, probably keep up with how many times he loses in the world of gambling. Drake lost a bet on Israel Adesanya during his last UFC fight against Alex Pereira. Adesanya was knocked out just minutes before the end of the match.

Drake did manage to recoup some of his losses later, though, when he placed a $400K bet on Adesanya to knock out Pereira in their rematch, which proved to be a winning bet.

It’s up and down with sports betting but we think Drake can afford it. Low key play money for him TBH.

This week’s mixtape comes from an HBCU Draft Pick, drafted by the Marlins organization in 2023 as a RHP for the Jupiter Hammerheads, then sent up to the Beloit Sky Carp (High A) this year. Meachem, a Fayetteville, NC native who pitched for the North Carolina A&T Aggies, became the 21st player from NC A&T to be drafter by a MLB team.

In his first season on the rubber with the Miami organization, Meachem gained a 2.33 ERA with 98 Ks and nine saves in 65.2 IP. At a ripe 21 years old, Meachem is destined to bring some heat to the Marlins’ bullpen in the seasons to come.

As a young man from the Dirty South, Meachem’s playlist packs a lot of bops from below the Mason/Dixon, with artists like Lil Baby, Future, Gunna, Young Thug and Mustard on heavy rotation. Check out his lengthy 79-track playlist right here courtesy of Marc Cheatham aka “CHEATS” of the Black Baseball Mixtape!

After the special guest appearance of McDonald’s character Grimace earning them the name “GriMets”, who would’ve thought that the Amazins’ could come up with another viral sensation on the baseball field? Well, the Mets have introduced another unconventional personality that is totally unrelated to baseball. Sort of.

Hailey Welch, the real life spitballer who went viral for her “Hawk Tuah” comment about oral sex, took the mound at Citi Field to throw out the first pitch for the Mets game against the Oakland A’s yesterday.

The 22-year-old Tennessee native rose to fame on social media when a street interview of her saying “hawk tuah” to describe oral sex went viral.

Mets fans and critics alike were confused as to why the Mets chose Welch to throw out the first pitch, but it must have been abad look for the Mets, who lost to the AL West last place A’s 7-6.

Dr. Dre on his Hunger Games? Let’s explain …

In a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight”, Dr. Dre revealed his serious interest in pursuing archery with the aim of trying out for the 2028 Olympic team.

From Dre. Day to Mocking Jay. Ha! We had to say it.

The West Coast iconic producer turned Beats mogul turned Super Bowl star explained that his fascination with the sport began in junior high school.

“I’m trying to try out for the Olympics in 2028… Archery. I’m dead a”” serious,” he stated, addressing the interviewer’s skepticism. “I actually started playing around with archery in junior high. I stopped for a while, and my son bought me a setup. I don’t know if it was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that, so I have it set up in my backyard. And I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet and I practice at 90 [feet].”

Dr. Dre went in and expressed his growing ambition, saying, “Yeah, wouldn’t that be interesting to go, especially with it being here in L.A., and win the gold medal… I feel like I could do anything.”

ICYMI, on Sunday, August 11, Dre performed with Snoop Dogg at the 2024 Paris Olympics’ Closing Ceremony, delivering a rendition of “The Next Episode.” Dre shared that he seldom performs without Snoop Dogg, stating, “I rarely do it. I’ve done it with Kendrick and Eminem, and those are my brothers, but something about the synergy me and Snoop has is really interesting.”

Get this, during the interview, Dre also commented on the inaugural Olympics breakdancing competition, which will not be included in the 2028 Games. He reasonably criticized the so called slew of performances, saying, “I did not like that. It’s so many great breakdancers, I don’t know why they had this particular person doing that,” seemingly referring to Australian breaker Raygun, who went viral after her moves earned zero points. “It was funny, I got some laughs out of it, but what the f””k? There are incredible breakdancers out right now. I don’t know how that happened.”

We don’t know what happened either. Especially with that one with the “gun” name. Like, huh?

SOURCE SPORTS: Yankees’ Aaron Judge Becomes Fastest To 300 Homers In MLB History

Screenshot 2024 08 15 at 12.54.58 PM

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hit his 300th homer, reaching that milestone faster than any other player in the history of Major League Baseball when he connected against the White Sox during a 10-2 victory Wednesday night.

“It’s a great achievement,” he said. “Like I said a couple days ago, I was hoping it would come in a win. It came in a big win for us. We were down for a little bit, couldn’t get much going, so I was just excited it was there in a big moment.”

Judge hit the mark in his 955th game and 3,431st at-bat with a three-run drive in the eighth inning. The six-time All-Star and 2022 American League MVP drove a 3-0 up-and-in sinker from Chad Kuhl into the White Sox bullpen in left for his major league-leading 43rd homer.

The Yankees let loose as the ball cleared the wall, jumping up and raising their arms and banging the dugout railing. After the game, DJ LeMahieu and Austin Wells doused Judge with a tub of water.

“That means a lot,” Judge said. “These guys grind with me every single day. I know the hard work they put in. They see what I do. That was pretty special.”

SOURCE SPORTS: Yankees Put Jazz Chisholm Jr. On IL With Left Elbow Sprain

Screenshot 2024 08 15 at 9.02.35 AM

New York Yankees placed third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the 10-day injured list Wednesday because of a sprained left elbow and were waiting for more doctors to weigh in to determine whether he needs surgery, manager Aaron Boone said.

The Yankees remained hopeful Chisholm’s stay on the IL will be short, though it’s not clear when he’ll resume swinging a bat. He hits left-handed and throws with his right.

“We’ll see what we have,” Boone said. “We’re obviously just a couple days into this. But we’re also somewhat optimistic.”

Chisholm, 26, was injured on Monday while sliding into home plate in the fifth inning but remained in the game. He was replaced by Ben Rice during his next plate appearance in the seventh inning.

Chisholm has given New York an immediate spark since he was acquired from the Miami Marlins for three prospects on July 27. He became the first player in franchise history to hit seven homers in his first 12 games with the club.

“He’s been a dynamic player for us,” Boone said. “He provides power, speed. He’s done a great job on defense. He’s been great in the room. But again, hopefully, it’s something that doesn’t turn out to be too long and we can get him back.”

Chisholm spent his first four-plus seasons in the major leagues with the Marlins, hitting .246 with 66 homers and 205 RBIs in 403 games. He is batting .316 with seven homers and 11 RBIs in 14 games with the Yankees.

Ex-NFL Player Sentenced for Brutal Death of Girlfriend’s 5-Year-Old Daughter

Screen Shot 2024 08 15 at 8.02.09 AM

Former NFL running back Cierre Wood has been sentenced to 10 years to life in prison for the horrific death of 5-year-old La’Rayah Davis, the daughter of his then-girlfriend. The tragedy unfolded in April 2019 when La’Rayah was taken to a Las Vegas hospital, where she was found to have suffered extensive abuse, including over 100 bruises, 20 broken ribs, and a fatal laceration to her liver.

Wood, who had a promising football career at the University of Notre Dame before his time in the NFL, was arrested and charged with murder shortly after the child’s death. He took an Alford plea in April, acknowledging that the prosecution had enough evidence to convict him without admitting guilt. He was convicted of second-degree murder and child abuse.

The investigation into La’Rayah’s death revealed a harrowing pattern of physical and mental abuse. Wood reportedly forced the child to undergo intense physical workouts, including sprints, sit-ups, and wall squats, as a form of punishment. He allegedly justified these punishments by claiming he was trying to get her “on the right path” because he thought she was “chunky.”

On the day of her death, Wood made La’Rayah perform sit-ups after she struggled to learn her letters and numbers. According to his statement to the police, she fell backward and hit her head, but when authorities arrived in response to his 911 call, they found her body cold and stiff.

La’Rayah’s mother, Amy Taylor, also faced charges in connection with her daughter’s death. She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and felony child abuse as part of a deal with prosecutors. In July, Taylor was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, plus an additional eight to 20 years for the abuse charge.

Thoughts?
