SOURCE SPORTS: Chicago White Sox Endures 20th Loss In A Row, Longest Losing Streak In MLB In 36 Years

Winless for almost a month, the Chicago White Sox are making the worst kind of history. The woeful White Sox lost their 20th consecutive game Sunday, the majors’ longest skid in 36 years and one short of the American League record, as Chris Flexen was chased early in a 13-7 defeat against the Minnesota Twins.

“At the end of the day, we’ve lost 20 in a row. That’s painful. That sucks,” manager Pedro Grifol said. “We’ve just got to find a way to put that behind us and go out there and be professionals and do what we have to do tomorrow.”

Chicago’s franchise-record losing streak is the longest in the big leagues since the 1988 Baltimore Orioles dropped 21 games in a row, the AL mark, to begin the season. The NL record since 1900 is held by the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies, who lost 23 straight.

The major league low belongs to the 1889 Louisville Colonels, an American Association team that endured a 26-game slide during a 27-111 season.

Next up, the White Sox head to Oakland for a three-game series beginning Monday night against the Athletics, who are last in the AL West.

“It’s very difficult,” Chicago center fielder Luis Robert Jr. said via a translator. “There’s nothing else we can do, just try to come here every day as we’ve been doing it and try to win games.”

Chicago’s losing streak is tied with four other clubs for the third-longest since 1900: the 1969 Montreal Expos; the 1943 and 1916 Philadelphia Athletics; and the 1906 Boston Americans. The latest defeat dropped the White Sox 60 games below .500 for the first time in franchise history. They are on pace to finish 38-124, which would be the most losses since the 1899 Cleveland Spiders of the National League went 20-134.

Sha’Carri Richardson Takes Silver Medal After Upset by Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred in Epic 100 Meter Race

90

The journey of Sha’Carri Richardson just took a turn but it’s a good one. The lightening fast sprinter took the silver medal in the 100-meter race at the Paris Olympics.

This feat comes three years after missing the Tokyo Games due to a positive marijuana test. Still wild how that happened to her.

As everyone would imagine there were high expectations for Richardson. But no gold medal in the 100 meter. Instead, Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred won the top prize with a time of 10.72 seconds.

Get this the “W” earned Alfred’s island nation their first Olympic medal.

Let that sink in. That was their FIRST Olympic medal, ever. Wow. Flowers to Julien. All the flowers.

But slow down, Richardson finished second in 10.87 seconds after a not so hot start that put her at a disadvantage early in the race. Listen, it happens.

Following the surprising race, Richardson briefly spoke to a reporter who mispronounced her name, correcting them with, “It’s Sha’Carri.” Can you blame her?

As one of the more standout athletes in the Paris Olympics, Richardson faced immense pressure. Some would say pressure rarely experienced by any athlete not named Simone Biles or LeBron James, although the later is the oldest player in the NBA but still.

When you add non stop media coverage and major endorsements from brands like Nike and Sprite, Richardson had quite literally the world on her shoulders.

Richardson’s track to the Olympics, pun intended, has been rocky. She has experienced highs and lows, from being one of the fastest women in the world to facing suspension and criticism. Super heavy for anyone to have to endure, even a major athlete such as Richardson.

But after that suspension, she returned to competition in August 2021, she finished last in a race that featured many of the women she would have faced in Tokyo. Despite all this adversity, Richardson remained defiant, stating, “Count me out if you want to. Talk all the s— you want. Because I’m here to stay. I’m not done. I’m the sixth-fastest woman in this game ever. Can’t nobody ever take that from me.”

It’s not over for Sha’Carri Richardson. But maybe the real story is it’s just beginning for Julien Alfred.

More evidence that the Yankees’ front office made the logical decision when it came to acquiring former Marlins centerfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. before yesterday’s trade deadline. Derek Jeter’s advice to the Yanks din’t fall on deaf ears and the entire organization is elated that they didn’t. Chisholm has become a record breaker in just 24 hours of being a Yankee, becoming the first in the franchise to hit four HRs in the first three games played in pinstripes.

The Bahamian-born 26-year-old drove in five RBIs with two homers, helping the Bronx Bombers edge the Phillies 7-6 in 12 innings. After homering twice in Monday night’s 14-4 win over Philadelphia, including a ninth-inning blast hit with Aaron Judge’s bat, Chisholm became the first Yankee to belt four homers in his first three games with the team.

The Yankees newly acquired third baseman hit a solo homer off Aaron Nola in the sixth inning and a three run dinger off Matt Strahm in the seventh.

“That’s sick, to be part of the history of the New York Yankees,” Chisholm said. “It’s one of the sickest things anybody in baseball could hear.”

[WATCH] Simone Biles Breaks Olympic Medal Record

Simone Biles has once again etched her name into the annals of Olympic history. With her latest triumph at the 2024 Paris Games, Biles has become the most decorated U.S. gymnast in Olympic history, solidifying her legacy as a true icon of the sport.

At 27, Biles clinched her eighth Olympic medal on Tuesday night, leading her team to victory in the team final alongside teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera. Their stellar performance secured the gold, propelling Biles past the previous record-holder, Shannon Miller, who had garnered seven medals during the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Games.

This achievement adds to Biles’ already impressive tally of 38 medals across the Olympics and World Championships, a record that surpasses both male and female gymnasts. Despite this monumental accomplishment, Biles remains remarkably humble and focused on her love for the sport.

In a post-victory press conference, Biles reflected on her new record with characteristic nonchalance. “Honestly, I would have had to Google that,” she admitted to reporters, including those from People. “I don’t keep count, I don’t keep stats. I just go out here and do what I’m supposed to and I’m doing what I love and enjoying it, so that’s really all that matters to me.”

Biles’ grounded perspective underscores her dedication and passion for gymnastics. “Yes, it’s amazing, now that I hear it, but I don’t think I’ll truly understand the depth of it until I walk away from the sport,” she added, emphasizing that her focus remains on the present and her love for competing.

This latest gold medal marks Biles’ fifth in Olympic competition, adding to her collection of one silver and two bronze medals. Her achievements not only highlight her extraordinary talent and hard work but also inspire countless athletes around the world.

As Simone Biles continues to make history, her legacy will undoubtedly be remembered for generations. Her journey serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and a love for the sport that transcends records and accolades.

SOURCE SPORTS: [WATCH] Jazz Chisholm Jr. Blasts 2 HRs Following Yankees Weekend Trade, One With Aaron Judge’s Bat

It didn’t take long for the recent Yankees trade acquisition of former Miami Marlins All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. to yield results for the Bronx Bombers when Chisholm belted two homers yesterday against the NL East leaders, the Philadelphia Phillies. The double boomers were Chisholm’s first dingers as a Yankee. Some say the secret is he used Aaron Judge’s bat.

Jazz picked up his first hit and first stolen base as a Yankee on Sunday against the Red Sox just hours after being traded from the Marlins to the Yankees on Saturday. Chisholm hit his first dinger in pinstripes against Phillies Zack Wheeler and hit the second against Garret Stubbs. The latter was belted with some help from Aaron Judge’s bat.

Monday’s homers are his 14th and 15th of the season. He hit .249/.323/.407 with 22 steals in 101 games with the Marlins before the trade.

It should be mentioned Chisholm made his first career start at third base Monday. His two primary positions are second base and center field, but the Yankees are set there with Gleyber Torres and Aaron Judge, so Chisholm is giving third base a try. He started a slick 5-4-3 double play in his first chance at the hot corner.

“I mean, I went out there and played center field for the first time last year and I felt like it was pretty difficult at first,” Chisholm said about playing third base. “But I just feel like I could go and play anywhere and help my team win. For me, it’s just going somewhere — especially a winning team — and they’re asking me to go somewhere to help them win? I’m definitely gonna go out there and do it.”

[WATCH] SOURCE SPORTS: Wild Brawl Between Fans Break Out At Mets vs. Yankees Subway Series

Screenshot 2024 07 25 at 10.49.56 PM

As one fan put it, the Yanks will put a beating on the Mets one way or another.

Earlier this week, the Mets and Yankees took their NYC two-game “Subway Series” Uptown to the Bronx and the battle off the field got just as entertaining as the battle on the diamond when Yankees and Mets fans began brawling in the rotunda of Yankee Stadium, leaving several attendees lumped and bruised in the battle royale-esque scuffle.

About six people, including two women, were fighting it out, when the video shows a Yankees fan with no shirt catch a Mets fan with a strong hook, sending him to the ground. Security eventually made it to the skirmish, but not before the embarrassed Mets fan tried to redeem himself by taking on another Yankees fan until the fire finally fizzled.

Surprisingly, the NYPD said that no arrests were made, so besides a few bumps and bruises, everyone made it home okay except for the Yankees, who were edged by the Amazins 3-2 on Tuesday and spanked by them 12-3 on Wednesday. The two wins in the BX sealed their sweep and leaving them the reigning Kings of Queens.

2024 Subway Series was the first time the Mets swept the series since 2013.

Watch: Bronny James Drop 12 points in Best Summer League Game

image

We have entered a world where a 55th pick in the NBA Draft dropping 12 points makes global news. And we are all guilty of making this a big deal, including us, but it’s still fun so we’re not sorry, ha!

Here we go. Bronny James gave the naysayers his most impressive performance to date for the Lakers in the NBA summer league. He helped lead the team to a W by squeaking by the Atlanta Hawks, 87-86.

James dropped 12 buckets, shooting a strong 5-of-11 from the field and get this, 2-of-5 from arc! Okay, watch out Steph! Kidding, c’mon ya’ll just relax and have fun.

So prior to this solid game, Bronny struggled in the first three summer league matchups, as expected. He averaged just 4.3 points per game with a 22.6% field-goal percentage and missing all 15 of his three-point attempts. Sheesh. But again, it’s early so give him some time.

Commentator Skip Bayless gave Bronny his flowers for his performance on Undisputed, stating, “He looked like he belonged out there.” Well if Skip is patting LeBron’s son on the back then the world is truly in a tailspin!

Here are some of the highlights we pulled from YouTube @HouseofHighlights:

Dwyane Wade Weighs in on Viral Steph to LeBron Lob on Team USA: “Looks Familiar”

Screen Shot 2024 07 14 at 1.35.08 PM

It’s wild to think outside of NBA All Star games, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Golden State Warriors Steph Curry have not played together. The two future Hall of Famers have been especially vocal about teaming up for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

ICYMO, last Wednesday (July 10), Team USA, which some consider one of the best olympic basketball squads ever assembled on paper, played their first exhibition game against Canada.

The American stars game away with a sound victory, even against fellow star NBA players who hail from Canada.

As expected, James and Curry were key in the catching the W, in what is shaping up to be a tough starting lineup with Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker, Boston Celtics’ Jrue Holiday, and Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid.

Get this, a highlight of the action was an incredible, much awaited alley-oop between James and Curry or should we say Curry to James, in case you really weren’t sure, ha.

The icon to icon pass for the slam quickly went viral.

James seizing the moment, shared the play on the Gram, and who stepped into the chat? None other than Bron’s former Heat teammate, Dwyane Wade.

The Flash, as he was often referred to brought back memories of their more than iconic image from their days in South Beach. Wade, made note in the comments:

With James and Curry leading the charge, and Anthony Edwards making it known he wants to be the man, Team USA is out for nothing less than gold and the world, especially Dwyane Wade, is watching.
