Snoop Dogg Always Knew That Sexyy Red Had “Star Power”

Snoop Dogg has been an elder in hip-hop for such a long time that he’s been through a few different “new generations” as a legendary mainstay. As such, he witnessed a lot of hot new rappers come and go over the years, and even works closely with some of the most successful ones out of newer schools. So when Tha Doggfather tells you that you’ve got that special something, you can rest assured it comes from a place of heavy experience. Moreover, during a recent interview with Vibe, he recalled meeting Sexyy Red for the first time and how he showed her love from the jump as a talented artist with a lot of potential to make it big.

“‘You a motherf***ing star,’” Snoop Dogg recalled telling Sexyy Red in the Vibe conversation clip uploaded Wednesday (November 13). “‘You got star power. I love you.’ She said, ‘Unc, you real as a motherf***er.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I f**k with you, cuz.’ We partying, having a good time. And I said, ‘One thing about me. I’m from the old generation, but I don’t hate on y’all. I may critique, but when I see y’all, I’ma give you love.’ And I’ma tell you face to face, ‘You doing an amazing job. Here’s some things you could do better.’ But I’m never going to say, ‘You wack, you garbage, you trash, you f***ing the industry.’ I’m never going to say that.”

Snoop Dogg Recalls Meeting Sexyy Red For The First Time

At around the same time as this interview clip went live, Sexyy Red shared a video of her and Snoop Dogg vibing out at an outdoors party to her track “SkeeYee.” Maybe she will end up contributing a feature to his upcoming Missionary album with Dr. Dre

But Snoop Dogg also shows love to the younger generation through many other ways that aren’t just through hip-hop. For example, he’s one of a few rappers who collaborated with the Fortnite Battle Royale video game for their Chapter 2 Remix update, becoming an in-game character with special zones, a boss mode, and more. It’s always great to see the Long Beach legend give back, and we’re excited for what he shouts out next.

Snoop Dogg’s Massive Compound Features Multiple Studios, A Basketball Court, And More, His Tour With Kai Cenat Reveals

Twitch favorite Kai Cenat is in the midst of a 30-day “Mafiathon 2” stream, and part of the festivities has been spending some time with Snoop Dogg. Specifically, on stream on Monday, Snoop gave Cenat a tour of his impressive Los Angeles compound.

It’s quite the space: Aside from multiple recording studios, the compound also features a basketball court, an arcade, a casino, an outdoor movie theater, a gaming space, a gym, a TV room, and other amenities. Cenat, understandably, was blown away by the variety and breadth of Snoop’s space.

Elsewhere on the stream, Snoop brandished an impressively large blunt, which left Cenat stunned (and making some phallic remarks) as Snoop said, “This motherf*cker right here is supersized. There’s a whole ounce in this motherf*cker.”

Aside from hanging out with Cenat, Snoop has been spending time promoting his upcoming Dr. Dre-produced album Missionary. Last week, he announced the project’s December 13 release date, doing so with a funny video starring two missionaries. Snoop also shared the cover art, which was inspired by a condom wrapper. He also unveiled the tracklist, which features 50 Cent, Eminem, Tom Petty, Jelly Roll, Dre, Sting, Jhené Aiko, BJ The Chicago Kid, and others.

Snoop Dogg Gave Kai Cenat An Incredibly Huge Blunt On Stream: ‘There’s A Whole Ounce In This Motherf*cker’

Snoop Dogg has been a very visible famous person for decades now, and yet, there are still things the public doesn’t know about him. For example, he’s a seldom-discussed trivia tidbit about Snoop: He enjoys using marijuana. Yes, that was an elaborate joke, but what’s not a joke is the size of the blunt Snoop just showed off on a recent stream with Kai Cenat.

In a clip from the broadcast (seen here) reaches into a bag and pulls out a gigantic blunt, which is noticeably bigger than the average blunt.

“That’s your introduction,” Snoop told Cenat. “Welcome to the game.”

After Cenat made some jokes about the phallic appearance of the blunt, Snoop continued, “This motherf*cker right here is supersized. There’s a whole ounce in this motherf*cker.”

Meanwhile, Snoop has been busy rolling out his upcoming Dr. Dre-produced album Missionary. Like on the Cenat stream, Snoop has been having fun promoting the new project. Last week, he announced the album’s release date (December 13) and did so with a funny skit starring two missionaries. He later shared the cover art (modeled after a condom wrapper, of course) and the tracklist, which has features from 50 Cent, Eminem, Tom Petty, Jelly Roll, Dre, Sting, Jhené Aiko, BJ The Chicago Kid, and more.

Eminem, Ice Spice, Snoop Dogg & Juice WRLD Join Fortnite’s “Chapter 2” Remix For New Season

Fortnite has plenty of music collabs under their belt, so it’s no surprise the Battle Royale video game sensation continues to go all out for its crossover of dedicated players and music fans. Moreover, they just announced the launch of their Chapter 2 Remix for their new season on Friday (November 1), in collaboration with Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ice Spice, and presumably the late Juice WRLD’s estate, which reportedly went live today (Saturday, November 2). Each hip-hop artist will have themed gameplay locations, skins, and other gameplay elements. Overall, it seems like a pretty thorough and engaging effort that will surely make fans lock in even more.

In fact, Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice hit the New York City streets this week to promote this new Fortnite collab, fresh off the former announcing his Missionary album’s release date. In Times Square, they offered a surprise performance of their biggest hits individually, and then united onstage to reveal the Chapter 2 Remix trailer, which you can check out down below. It previewed the worlds that these artists will be a part of, and Tha Doggfather will kick off this first week as the game’s sixth season’s main face.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix Trailer

For those curious, Snoop Dogg will be an in-game boss in Fortnite, complete with a unique weapon, and then Eminem (maybe Slim Shady?), Ice Spice, and Juice WRLD will follow. “My son Cordell’s a big Fortnite player with me, so when we had the opportunity we jumped on it as a new way to connect with my sound and style,” Snoop stated via a press release. “Anyone can be Snoop in Fortnite.” Juice will lead week four, and on November 30 at 2PM EST, the game will launch the Remix: The Finale live in-game event to celebrate his legacy, along with an exclusive skin for players that log in that day.

“You will see some really interesting ways of integrating music,” the director of strategic partnerships at Fortnite‘s Epic Games, Emily Levy, remarked to Billboard. “And we are debuting music at different points of the season in interesting places.” Where we dropping… Or is that meme dead already?

Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Share “Gorgeous” Featuring Jhene Aiko Ahead Of “Missionary”

On the eve of Halloween, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre formally announced the release date for their first album in over three decades, Missionary. Fans of the D-O-double-G can and the iconic West Coast producer to drop their body of work on December 13. The album is available for pre-save and pre-order, and it will boast 15 tracks with a heaping helping of features. It’s a wild guest list with Tom Petty, Jelly Roll, and Sting being the most left-field names. However, there are plenty you would come to expect, such as Eminem, 50 Cent, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Jhene Aiko.

Speaking of which, the airy R&B vocalist’s track, “Gorgeous,” is out today. The lead single features that West Coast vibe that you come to expect from Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. Overall, they sound just as in sync as they did when they worked on Doggystyle in the mid-90’s. Aiko’s vocals soar on the chorus, but they aren’t overpowering. It matches up perfectly, because he’s bringing his well-known laid-back verses to the table here. The cover art (and album artwork) is a tell-tale sign of what to expect at least on “Gorgeous,” as Snoop Dogg and Aiko express their sexual desires. It’s fine and catchy way to start the full-circle celebration for this legendary duo and you can check it out below.

Snoop Dogg Begins The Rollout To ‘Missionary’ With ‘Gorgeous’ Featuring Jhené Aiko

I can’t remember the last time that general audiences were as hyped for a new Snoop Dogg as they are for Missionary, Snoop’s long-awaited reunion with Dr. Dre and a spiritual sequel to his 1993 debut Doggystyle (if you couldn’t tell from the title). After announcing the release date a day ago and revealing the tracklist earlier today, Snoop and Dre unleashed the funky first single: “Gorgeous” featuring Jhené Aiko.

The song has a bit of a big-band funk feel, complete with brassy horn stabs and those classic, crispy Dr. Dre snares. Meanwhile, Snoop sounds refreshed and effervescent, neatly C-walking all over the glitzy production with his trademark player talk — or as he puts it, “I dealt with the cons and the pros / I mix Crip sh*t with the highs and the lows.” Aiko offers her honeyed vocals on the chorus, asking, “Don’t this sh*t look gorgeous?” It certainly sounds gorgeous.

The Doggfather and Dre recently gave an interview lamenting the lack of originality in today’s rap music — although to be fair, they are in their 50s, and there’s a lot of music out these days (so much, it’s hard for professional critics to keep track). However, to their credit, they offered a solution along with their complaints: “Be original,” Snoop advised. “Right now there’s so much copycatting, mimicking, sounding alike, and imitation. Find your production, your sound, find your ear for who you are, and be original even if it ain’t hitting. Stay you.”

You can check out “Gorgeous” with Jhené Aiko above.

Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Unveil “Missionary” Tracklist With Star-Studded Support

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are making their studio album return with Missionary, their new collab project dropping on December 13. Now, we have the condom-themed cover art and tracklist for the record, indicating its playful vibe and teasing the featured guests that will be on it. They are the following: BJ The Chicago Kid, Dre on the mic, Alus, Jhené Aiko, Tom Petty, Jelly Roll, K.A.A.N., Sting, Method Man, Smitty, Cocoa Sarai, 50 Cent, Eminem, Dem Jointz, Stalone, and Fat Money. Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre’s Missionary: Features & Artwork

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre recently spoke on the creative process on Stephen A. Smith’s show. “Be original,” Snoop remarked. “Right now there’s so much copycatting, mimicking, sounding alike, and imitation. Find your production, your sound, find your ear for who you are, and be original even if it ain’t hitting. Stay you.” “Find your collaborators,” Dre added. “I don’t like the fact that there are nine different producers on one album. I like the idea of one producer on an album. Continuity is everything.”

Furthermore, this discussion of chemistry and continuity made a lot of fans even more excited for Missionary, even if they might disagree with Dr. Dre’s take. Regardless, we can’t wait to hear what Snoop Dogg and company have in store on December 13. In addition, plenty of other recent reflections and statements reminded us of why this moment could be so exciting. Kendrick Lamar recently revealed that they were at fault for his first public display of tears, and their magnanimous place in hip-hop will be a treat to witness.

Snoop Dogg And Dr. Dre Are Ready For ‘Missionary’ As They Finally Announce Their New Album’s Release Date

“Me and Dr. Dre been working on an album for the past two months, and it’ll be done in November. And it’s produced by Dr. Dre. It’s our 30th anniversary to Doggystyle. And the name of the album is Missionary.”

Snoop Dogg said this in October 2022. Whether the album ended up being done by November is a mystery, but it certainly wasn’t released at that point. In fact, it’s still not out.

Fast-forward to this past January, when Snoop again brought up the project, saying, “I can let the rabbit out the hat: I’ve been working on a record with Dr. Dre for the past 8 months.”

Finally, we have some more concrete news on the Missionary front: Today (October 30), Snoop officially announced the Dre-produced Missionary, revealing its release date is currently set for December 13.

He also shared a 42-second teaser video. It begins with two Mormon missionaries, smiling at they approach a doorstep and knock. They’re shocked when the door opens and inside is a woman in lingerie. Upset, she exclaims, “What the f*ck! Your ad said you’re dedicated to missionary work.” The stunned missionaries then run away as the album info is displayed on screen.

Missionary is out 12/13 via Def Jam Recordings. Find more information here.
