Days ahead of the 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony yesterday (August 11), there were reports of who would be performing (beyond previously announced acts), and the list included Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Well, the reports ended up being true, as the world learned last night.
The festivities kicked off at Stade de France, and among the performers there was Phoenix, who called upon a number of guests for their set, including Kavinsky, VannDa, Air, and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig. Later, HER performed the United States National Anthem.
Then, there was a series of performances from Long Beach, California, which were pre-taped on August 10. There, Snoop busted out a setlist featuring (per setlist.fm) “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “The Next Episode” alongside Dr. Dre, “Gin And Juice,” and “What’s My Name” (check out a video here).
At another point, RHCP hit the beach for “Can’t Stop” and “Eddie” (video), while Eilish (with Finneas, of course) played “Birds Of A Feather” and “The Greatest” (video).
It was a good showing from the United States, and that was the case for the actual Olympic events themselves. By the time all the medals had been handed out, the US had secured the most with 126 in total while tying with China for the most gold medals, with 40.
In July, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics had some firepower, featuring performances from Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, and Gojira. Now, the event is nearing its end, as the Olympics are set to wrap up this Sunday, August 11.
There’s going to be a closing ceremony, too, and now we’re starting to get word about which musicians will be involved in that spectacle.
A new report from Variety that cites “multiple sources” indicates that Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to perform. The performances will reportedly take place in Los Angeles (the host of the 2028 Olympics) and will be a combination of live and pre-taped performances.
Meanwhile, People also reports that HER will participate as well, by singing the United States National Anthem. Her performance will take place in Paris, live from Stade de France.
This follows reports that French bands Phoenix and Air would also perform during the closing ceremony, and there will apparently also be a large-scale stunt from Tom Cruise. Variety has since confirmed the reports of Phoenix and Air’s performances.
The 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony is set to broadcast on NBC, and stream on Peacock, on August 11 at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT).
We’re never, ever, ever going to hear the end of the whole Kendrick Lamar and Drakerap beef, are we? Moreover, even some massive rock bands are hopping on the fun, so this could very much be a pop culture mainstay for the foreseeable future. The Red Hot Chili Peppers recently celebrated their run of Toronto shows and thanked their fans in the city for a great time. Sounds innocent enough, right? Well, they chose to do so by putting a picture of K.Dot waving goodbye in the “Not Like Us” music video on their Instagram Story, so they couldn’t resist showing the 6ix love by teasing them at least a little bit as proud Los Angeles band mates.
Furthermore, this comes amid rumors that Drake will reignite the Kendrick Lamar feud through some subliminal shots on a future release. Given just how much the 6ix God sends sneak disses out, was this really a surprising speculative theory to anyone who came across DJ Akademiks’ recent remarks on it? Nevertheless, it will definitely be interesting to see how both MCs reference their battle, if at all, in future material. Either way, fans will definitely comb each and every syllable looking for possible escalations.
Red Hot Chili Peppers Plant Their Flag In The Kendrick Lamar & Drake Beef
What’s more is that some recent developments might suggest that the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef is affecting other artists directly. For example, you’ve probably heard all the conspiracies around ScHoolboy Q’s canceled Toronto show and how Drizzy might’ve played a role in shutting it down. This is all just speculative, so take it with a grain of salt, but there’s actually some relatively indicative information that there could be some shady stuff at play. The biggest indicator of this, ironically enough, is the Toronto superstar’s IG Story after news of this broke.
Meanwhile, other corners of pop culture have more interesting reactions and assessments of the whole beef. Steph Curry is one celebrity who’s already tired of “Not Like Us,” whereas others like LeBron James are still loving it. We’ll see whether or not Drake has anything else to directly add to this situation, or if he has smoke for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Will Anthony Kiedis have some bars for Aubrey?
Vince Staples has won over the world with his new album, Dark Times. Despite being one of the bleakest and densest releases of his career, the album has received universal praise critics and fans. The L.A. MC has also gotten a co-sign from one of the definitive West Coast bands of the last four decades: Red Hot Chili Peppers. The bassist for the band, Flea, hopped on X (formerly Twitter) on May 26 to praise Dark Times and Staples’ approach to songwriting.
Flea is a man of few words, but a lot of personality. It’s what makes him arguably the most famous bass player of all time. His Dark Times review was predictably brief yet succinct: “New Vince Staples so deep and good,” he wrote. Flea has been an advocate of hip-hop since the 1990s. He told AllHipHop that his favorite producer is J Dilla, whom he was put onto during a jam session with Erykah Badu. “I was doing this thing,” he recalled in 2012. “I was playing with Erykah Badu a while ago, you know, and she really…got me into J Dilla… It was like brought me to tears because of how beautiful it is.”
Flea has also voiced support for Odd Future. “The Odd Future kids,” he singled out in the same interview. “I can [relate] just, in terms, like, it’s like wild, you know.” The similarities between OF and Red Hot Chili Peppers are obvious, especially considering how raucous the latter were in the 1980s. The bassist’s love for Odd Future hasn’t wavered, either. In 2023, Flea welcomed Earl Sweatshirt as a guest for his podcast, This Little Light. He praised the rapper’s dense wordplay and production style.
He also compared the OF crew to prime Wu-Tang Clan (who he is also a fan of). “You know, Wu-tang has been, like, a big thing for me a lot through the years,” he explained. “You know, all the solo records, and I love Ghostface and the Apollo Kids [album] he came out with.” Given Flea’s favorite hip-hop artists, it makes perfect sense that he would love Vince Staples. The rapper was an affiliate of Odd Future during their heyday, and he had arguably the best verse on Earl Sweatshirt’s major label debut, Doris. He knows talent when he hears it.

Good news! Tickets are still available for Bonnaroo 2024. According to the festival’s official website, there are four different ticket packages to choose from: 4-Day General Admission (starting at $435), 4-Day GA+ (starting at $695), 4-Day VIP (starting at $1,105), and 4-Day Platinum (starting at $4,155). Layaway plans are also available for each ticketing package, ranging from $25 down to $200 down.
For reference, tickets to Bonnaroo 2023 ranged from $299 to $1,250, but Bonnaroo explained the 2024 price hike in a statement last November, as excerpted below.
“Bonnaroo is incredibly important to each and every one of us who works to make it happen each year, and we know how special this experience is to you. We are proud of this community that we have built together. In the spirit of the Roo community and communication, we wanted to give you a heads up as we prepare for the annual presale.
Ticket prices are going to look different this year, and here’s why:
When you purchase your presale tickets, you’ll see a new price that includes all fees upfront — the only additions at checkout will be your chosen shipping option and your locally applicable sales tax.
For the first time in more than a decade, we’re also making a notable base price increase. This increase will still be far less than inflation over that time. The cost of producing this magical world has increased and our goal is to be as transparent with you as possible. To continue to deliver the quality experience you have to come to love and appreciate, prices need to go up just slightly.
The Farm is truly the most magical place on Earth and 2024 is going to be an incredible year. We can’t wait to see you next summer!”

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been going strong for almost 40 years! For any sort of artist or group to be going that long should be commended. The Los Angeles, California-based rock band burst onto the scene in the late summer of 1984 with their self-titled album. Over time, they have become an iconic collective in the genre. They have given us timeless classics, as well as radio-friendly bops that everyone can sing along to.
After taking a six-year album hiatus, they got the band together for a massive 2022. Red Hot went on to release two projects, Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen. Of course, the band went on tour and fans have been enjoying it. That certainly seems to be the case, as they have decided to extend their run into next year as well.
According to Pitchfork, dates begin as soon as December 9 and then will pick back up on February 17. It will come to a close on July 30 in St. Louis, MO at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre. In addition to that, Red Hot is also enlisting some extra guests to join them throughout those next five months. Artists include Kid Cudi, Ken Carson, Ice Cube, Wand, Irontom, Seun Kuti, and Egypt 80, as well as Otoboke Beaver. Almost every date has a combination of two names. It is cool to see Cudi and Carson join them, seeing as both borrow some elements of rock into their material.
What are your initial thoughts on the Red Hot Chili Peppers extending their tour? Do you think the choice of extra guests is a good fit? Does this make you want to go see one of these shows coming up? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Kid Cudi, Ken Carson, and Ice Cube. Anthony Kiedis, the iconic frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has made a significant mark in rock music. As of 2023, his net worth is estimated to be around $155 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. But how did he amass such wealth, and what has been his journey to this point?
Born on November 3, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Anthony Kiedis had a tumultuous childhood. His parents divorced when he was just three, and he spent most of his early years with his mother in Grand Rapids. However, summers in Los Angeles with his father, who was then an aspiring actor and part-time drug dealer, exposed young Anthony to the world of Hollywood and its vices. By 14, Kiedis had already tried heroin, mistaking it for cocaine.
Formation Of The Red Hot Chili Peppers
During his time at Fairfax High School, Kiedis forged a strong bond with Flea, a fellow student and future bandmate. Their shared love for music led them to form the Red Hot Chili Peppers, initially known as Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem. The band, known for its wild stunts and energetic performances, quickly gained local notoriety.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers released their debut album in 1984, which received mixed reviews. However, their subsequent albums, especially “Freaky Styley,” began to garner attention. The 1990s saw the band’s meteoric rise, with popular MTV music videos and successful world tours. Their album Californication, released in 1999, became a massive hit, selling 15 million copies.
Kiedis’s Other Ventures
Apart from his illustrious music career, Kiedis has also dabbled in acting, appearing in films like Point Break and The Chase. His memoir, Scar Tissue, released in 2004, topped the New York Times Best Sellers List. Kiedis’s contributions to music were recognized when the Red Hot Chili Peppers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
Kiedis’s net worth is not just a result of his music career. He owns real estate valued between $30 and $40 million across the United States. From a home above the Sunset Strip in Hollywood to properties in Malibu, Las Vegas, Michigan, and even the North Shore of Kaua’i, Kiedis’s investments in real estate have significantly contributed to his wealth.
Influences & Personal Life
Kiedis’s musical style has evolved, drawing inspiration from various sources. From the rap-style vocals of Grandmaster Flash to the musicality of Prince, Kiedis has incorporated diverse elements into his music. His personal life has seen its share of ups and downs. Relationships, feuds with other musicians, and battles with drug addiction have all played a part in shaping the legend that is Anthony Kiedis.
Anthony Kiedis’s journey from a young boy in Grand Rapids to the lead vocalist of one of the world’s most successful rock bands is inspiring. His net worth of $155 million in 2023 is a testament to his talent, hard work, and resilience. As the Red Hot Chili Peppers continue to enthrall audiences worldwide, Kiedis’s legacy as a rock legend remains firmly cemented.
