SOURCE SPORTS: Eagles and Bills Dominate as Playoff Picture Takes Shape

The Philadelphia Eagles (13-3) secured the NFC East title with a dominant 41-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, led by Saquon Barkley’s 167-yard rushing performance. Barkley’s season total now stands at 2,005 rushing yards, making him the ninth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 in a season and the first since Derrick Henry in 2020.

Barkley also became just the fifth player in the past 20 seasons with 13 games of 110+ scrimmage yards in a season, joining elite company such as Pro Football Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills (13-3) defeated the New York Jets 40-14 to clinch the AFC’s No. 2 seed. Josh Allen accounted for three touchdowns in the win, becoming the NFL’s winningest quarterback through seven seasons with 76 victories.

Allen’s season total of 40 combined touchdowns also places him alongside Aaron Rodgers as the only players with five seasons of 40+ combined passing and rushing scores in NFL history.

SOURCE SPORTS: Eagles Legend Fletcher Cox Shares on Nick Foles Retirement, The ‘Philly Philly’ Bud Light Celebration & More

fletcher cox

After Super Bowl 52 MVP Nick Foles announced his retirement on Thursday, Bud Light—the official NFL and Philadelphia Eagles beer sponsor—teased a nostalgic return of the “Philly Philly” magic. Today, Bud Light unveiled an official celebration plan to honor Foles, his teammates, and their historic Super Bowl 52 victory.

Bud Light is releasing 52 limited-edition commemorative “Philly Philly” bottles, each featuring unique tributes to the legendary play and the Eagles’ Super Bowl win. Encased in a wooden display box, these bottles will also come with a voucher for 52 days’ worth of Bud Light beer, offering fans 21+ the perfect way to toast the Philly hero.

Fans can enter to win one of these exclusive bottles by commenting #PhillyPhillySweeps on Bud Light’s social media post. The celebration continues on Monday, Sept. 16, when Eagles legend Fletcher Cox will distribute Bud Light at Xfinity Live’s NBC Sports Arena before the Eagles’ first home game.

“This year, Nick and I both made the decision to hang up our cleats and had the honor of doing so as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles,” said Super Bowl LII Champion and former Eagles defensive tackle, Fletcher Cox. “Calling it a career has brought back so many special memories of winning Super Bowl 52 and the epic “Philly Philly” celebration from Bud Light, who rallied around us and our incredible fans throughout the championship season. It only makes sense to partner with Bud Light to run it back one more time with a can’t-miss party, giving fans the chance to cheers to the end of an era for the players who made history happen.”

In conversation with The Source, Fletcher Cox discusses his relationship with Foles, the Bud Light sweepstakes, and this upcoming NFL season.

Tell me what drew you to this Bud Light partnership and how excited are you to get back to Philly for the Eagles home opener?

I mean, obviously, going back to Philly is always exciting. Especially a Monday night game. But now I’m going back to the home opener with Bud Light and hand out beers to fans 21 and older at Expanded Live. They love the Philly, Philly and those memories of fans on Broad Street crying and drinking Bud Light stick in my mind. I’m excited for it.

How cool is it for you to return with all your teammates?

I mean, you’re appreciated. I’ve learned that throughout my career. That appreciation takes you so far and I appreciate the opportunity to be able to return for this Philly, Philly celebration and home opening game.

This was all sparked by Nick Foles retirement announcement. What was your reaction to his news when you found out?

I kind of heard a little bit before he was retired. In the back of my head I wondered what he was waiting on. But I’m excited for him. I’m going to toast him with Bud Light and it will be fun.

Beyond the obvious, like winning a Super Bowl together and the celebration parades, are there any unique stories from your time with Nick in Philly that stand out as you both wrap up your careers?

[laughs] Every moment with Nick was fun. I used to go in there and watch him beat up on guys on the Ping Pong Table. He was really good. One of the most surprising things is Nick can hoop too. As a quarterback, you don’t expect him to hoop a little bit. From the time he got drafted and got there, everything was fun. He went through the fire early and I think that kind of helped him prepare for later in his career. That whole Super Bowl Day was great. Meeting at the stadium to get to the buses and I remember is hitting the corner coming of Patterson and seeing the fence on Broad Street with people hanging from trees, on top of their apartments, hanging out windows. The Philly fans are the best in the NFL.

Do you have any retirement advice for Nick?

Nick has been living his best dad’s life for the last few years. I would tell him to ensure he is taking care of himself.

A lot of guys move into different worlds upon retirement. Business Ventures, broadcasting, coaching. Have you thought about that for yourself?

I’m just kind of enjoying these first couple months to myself. I didn’t want to retire and go right into something. I want to celebrate life. I want to watch my nephews play football. I get to see my neice play volleyball and basketball. I wasn’t able to do those things. I was missing their childhoods.

Ahead of this season, if you could tell the current Eagles anything, what advice would you give them?

They still going to have a target on their back no matter who you are. Anytime you play for the Eagles, it’s like the Super Bowl for another team. It could be the worst team in the NFL, the best team in the NFL, or a mediocre squad. Don’t matter how good you are, they play the Eagles with their A game.So just stay focused and control what you can. Also, lean on each other when times get hard.

Saquon Barkley Sets NFL World On Fire By Signing With The Eagles

Saquon Barkley is easily one of the best and most dynamic running backs in the entire NFL when he is healthy. Overall, the New York Giants have been very lucky to have him. However, it has become increasingly clear that he would leave the team in free agency. The team had no interest in a franchise tag, and they were essentially letting Barkley walk. Today, players could sign with new teams, and Barkley made his decision just about an hour ago. As you will see, it was a bombshell.

Barkley is now going to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants’ division rival will now get the services of a dominant running back. Of course, this was explosive news and Giants fans were the victims of it all. Now, they have to face Barkley twice a year, and there is no doubt that he will be motivated to go up against his former team. As for the contract itself, he will be getting $37.75 million over three years and $26 million is guaranteed. Moreover, he has incentives that can bring his entire deal up to $46.75 million.

Eagles Beat Chiefs in Super Bowl Rematch on Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football this week was a rematch of Super Bowl 57. This time, the Philadelphia Eagles were able to top the Kansas City Chiefs 21-17.

The Eagles walked into a raucous Arrowhead crowd to blank the high-powered Chiefs in the second half and bounce back from a 17-7 halftime deficit. How are the Eagles reacting? They are looking twoard improvement.

“I would have probably been happier if we would have put together a really dominant performance offensively and played great. I think the fact that we didn’t do that makes it a littler bittersweet,” Eagles lineman Jason Kelce said. “I think the defense is largely why we won the game today. Hats off to those guys, and I’m certainly happy to be 9-1.”

Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts added his own assessment, “I don’t think we played clean tonight. I don’t think we played to our standard — nowhere near our standard.”

Not playing to their standard should be a warning to the rest of the league as the season marches on.

For the Chiefs, they had a chance to win, but wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling dropped a wide-open perfectly thrown Patrick Mahomes pass for a go-ahead touchdown.

“They know I’m going to keep firing it,” Mahomes said. “That’s just who I am. I’m going to fire it to the guy that’s open and usually they’re going to make the plays.”

For the game, Mahomes threw for 177 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Hurts threw for 150 yards, one interception, and two rushing touchdowns.

Highlights from the game are available below.

Darius Slay Has A Warning For Taylor Swift Ahead Of Eagles-Chiefs Matchup

Darius Slay has been an amazing player with the Philadelphia Eagles. Overall, the fans in Philly love him. He is someone who is a leader in the locker room, and he continues to make big plays. Furthermore, he is someone who pays attention to everything going on in the National Football League. If you have been following along, you know the biggest story is Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. She has shown up to two games, and she is the only thing the TV cameras want to point to. For many, it is very annoying. For others, it is a lot of fun.

So far, the Kansas City Chiefs are 2-0 whenever Taylor Swift shoes up to their games. Firstly, they defeated the Chicago Bears 41-10. Secondly, they just barely beat the Jets by a score of 23-20. Regardless of the scorelines, they have won both of those games. Slay has taken notice of this, and he is definitely worried about it considering the Eagles will play the Chiefs on November 20th. This game will be a huge Super Bowl rematch, and this time, Slay wants to win.

Darius Slay Has A Request

While on The Volume, Slay revealed that he does not want Swift in the building whatsoever. “Taylor, do not come to the game, ’cause it seems like you bring the energy of winning,” he said simply. Whenever Swift comes to these games, the attention ends up being placed on the Chiefs. Even if they are the visiting team, the cameras want shots of T-Swift. For many, this has been annoying and over-the-top. However, in other ways, it has helped grow the sport.

Needless to say, Taylor Swift will continue to be a polarizing person. As for Slay and the Eagles, they will continue to be one of the best teams in the league this year. They are still undefeated, and fans of the franchise are very excited. Let us know what you think of the Taylor Swift craze, in the comments section below. Recently Signed LB Myles Jack Considered Being a Plumber Before Joining Eagles

The NFL is a tough business that can leave someone unemployed at any time. Up until this week, linebacker Myles Jack didn’t have a job. The Eagles signed the former No. 2 overall pick. If that didn’t happen, Jack would transition to an electrician or a plumber.

“I like to work,” Jack told Zach Berman of the Athletic. “I couldn’t sit at home. I’ve been blessed to make a lot of money. I could retire and sit at the house. …I want to be innovative. If a Zombie apocalypse came, I want to be able to build something.”

Jack arrived at Eagles training camp and began to get first-team reps. He says in his bag, he brought two pairs of underwear, socks, and a Bible.

Myles Jackson signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Eagles. In his career he has made $49 million over seven seasons.

Jalen Hurts Now Highest Paid Player In NFL History

Jalen Hurts doesn’t look to be leaving Philadelphia any time soon. It’s being reported that the Eagles QB has signed a five-year extension with the team. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the five-year deal is for $255 million. The deal makes Hurts the highest-paid player in NFL history. Also, Hurts’ latest contract includes $179.304 million in guaranteed money. The Eagles have now locked up their franchise QB and paid him handsomely in the process.

Hurts had a monster in 2022, leading the Eagles to the one seed in the NFC. Unfortunately for Hurts, the Eagles ran into the Kansas City Chiefs in the biggest game of the year. If anyone had a better season than Hurts, it would be Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. However, the Eagles have plenty to be happy about from the 2022 season. Hurts finished the 2022 regular season with over 3,700 yards passing and 22 touchdown passes. However, his ability to keep a play alive may be his strongest asset.

Jalen Hurts Earns Stout Contract Extension

The news of the Eagles and Hurts making a deal isn’t shocking to most. However, one has to wonder what Lamar Jackson may think of the deal. Jackson is still looking for a bigger payday. But the Ravens have not seemed interested in speaking with Jackson on a new deal. Yes, Jackson hasn’t been to a Super Bowl. But the former Louisville QB has been league MVP and the strongest link for the Baltimore Ravens. The news of Hurts’ contract may change those conversations in Baltimore.

The Eagles have their future set. The team has locked in their QB and surrounded him with a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball. It will be no surprise to anyone to see the Eagles be one of the top teams this upcoming season. However, now it is time for Hurts to live up to his hefty contract. Do you believe the Eagles made the right choice in signing Hurts long-term? What does his contract mean for future QBs that will hit the market? Give us your thoughts on Hurts’ contract in the comment section. For the latest NFL news, keep it right here at HNHH.
