It Appears Jalen Hurts Helped Book Anita Baker For The NFC Championship Game

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has won over a lot of fans this season, leading the 14-3 Eagles to the top seed in the NFC and positioning himself as a finalist for the NFL MVP. But Hurts has never switched up on his fandom for Anita Baker.

Baker turned 65 years old on Thursday, January 26. Hurts tweeted, “Bumping @IAMANITABAKER All Day Per Usual, Happy Birthday” with a purple heart emoji. And Baker tweeted back, “Honored. Singing Songs of Victory, Your Way. Fly.”

The Eagles are preparing to host the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, January 29 at Lincoln Financial Field. Baker will also be there, and The Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Josh Tolentino doesn’t think that’s a coincidence.

“The magic of Jalen Hurts: Eagles just announced Anita Baker will sing the National Anthem for the NFC Championship Game on Sunday at Lincoln Financial [Field],” he tweeted.

Tolentino isn’t alone in that belief:

Per NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro, the halftime performance will be handled by DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Over in the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals in a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game. After Lil Jon performed at halftime of the Chiefs’ Divisional Round victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend, Fat Joe will handle this Sunday’s halftime performance.

The Eagles’ game against the Niners is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. EST on FOX, followed by the Bengals and Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. EST on CBS.

All of this is leading up to Super Bowl LVII on February 12 in Glendale, Arizona. Rihanna is the highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime performer.

Jalen Hurts Compared To Michael Jordan

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles have been fantastic this season. At one point, Hurts was looking like the frontrunner for MVP. Now, however, that has been taken over by Patrick Mahomes. Regardless, Hurts is now a solid top-five QB in the entire NFL.

On Sunday, he will take on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. A place in the Super Bowl is currently on the line, and Hurts knows what is at stake. Ahead of this game, Hurts is getting a huge showing of confidence from his head coach, Nick Sirianni.

Jalen Hurts Praised

While speaking to ESPN, Sirianni made the claim that Hurts is a lot like Michael Jordan. From his talent to his leadership, Hurts has impressed the whole team. Sirianni knows it is a wild comparison, however, he was adamant that it’s true.

“I know this is high praise, but to have him out there is like having–I shouldn’t even go there–it’s like having Michael Jordan out there,” Sirianni said. “He’s your leader. He’s your guy. Hopefully, that’s the biggest respect I can pay to him, comparing his ability to being on the field to a Michael Jordan type. This guy leads. He brings this calmness to the entire team. He plays great football. He’s as tough as they come. To me, nobody has played any better football than him this year.”

Going into the NFC Championship Game, the 49ers and Eagles are looking like a toss up. Both teams have been phenomenal, and they will both prove to be formidable opponents in the big game.

The first-ever “Eagle for a Day” adventure began in the afternoon. Attending kids and families were welcomed inside the NovaCare Complex by Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and fellow REFORM co-chair and award-winning rapper Meek Mill. The guests were given exclusive Eagles swag and bags to use while participating in a Jr. Combine experience. Children heard from head coach Nick Sirianni inside the NovaCare Complex indoor practice facility, tossed passes with Meek, and ran the 40-yard dash with Philadelphia Eagles players Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, Jordan Mailata, and Dallas Goedert. Each youngster signed their one-day contract with the Eagles during the Free Agent event, including a unique team jersey presentation. The kids then enjoyed an exclusive VIP tour of the facilities. The “Eagle for a Day” event ended at the facility auditorium with a memorable speech by quarterback Jalen Hurts, Michael Rubin, and Meek Mill. Howie Roseman, the Eagles executive vice president and general manager, welcomed the 12/13/22 free agent class.

After that, participating families traveled to the Wells Fargo Center for the “76ers VIP Gameday experience,” where young guests could join a close-quarters Q&A with 76ers head coach Doc Rivers. All the kids arrived at the court just before tip-off to participate in a unique pre-game bell-ringing ceremony with Michael and Meek. Families of visitors could watch the Philadelphia Sixers vs. Sacramento Kings game from courtside seats and VIP suite boxes. The kids entertained the crowd during halftime with a play on the court.

The attendees of the event were brought together by Above All Odds/Philadelphia Community Bail Fund, the Center for Family Services, and the Pennsylvania Chapter of National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., nonprofit partners of REFORM Alliance. Soon after, attendees were greeted to their VIP suites for supper and treated to a fantastic holiday fit package that included personalized Sixers jerseys and Fanatics apparel.

SOURCE SPORTS: All-Pro Reciever AJ Brown Traded to the Eagles

AJ Brown shocked the NFL and NFL Draft by getting traded from the Tennessee Titians to the Philadelphia Eagles. After the Eagles moved up in the draft to select Defensive Tackle Jordan Davis with the 13th pick, the Eagles shocked the NFL by landing the All-Pro Brown via a trade with the Titans.

Not only that, but the Eagles have already signed the Pro Bowl wideout to a four-year, $100 million extension with $57 million guaranteed, per NFL Media, as they secured a new top target for the long term.

In exchange for Brown, the Titans received the No. 18 overall pick, which they used on potential Brown successor Treylon Burks from Arkansas, and the Eagles’ No. 101 pick, a third-rounder.

The Titians were the number 1 seed in the AFC last season with the help of Brown. Ultimately, the Titians didn’t want to give Brown a huge payday, so they traded him and, for all-purpose, drafted his replacement in a draft loaded with wide receivers.

The Eagles now have a go-to receiver that quarterback Jalen Hurst can rely on. Both Hurts and Brown are close friends who work out together regularly, so the Eagles stuck gold here, especially if they plan on building around Hurts long term. Brown is that big receiver the Eagles’ offense needed, and alongside DeVonta Smith, it will pose a big problem for defenses this season.
