Allen Iverson Speaks On “Unique” Bond With The City Of Philadelphia

Allen Iverson is a Philadelphia legend. After two seasons at the University of Georgetown, including a run to the Elite Eight in 1996, Iverson declared for the NBA Draft. He went first overall to the Sixers, who were coming off an 18-64 season. With their new superstar, the Sixers improved year-on-year until they returned to the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade in the 1998/99 season. Two seasons later and they were in the NBA Finals, with Iverson winning MVP. It was the closest the Sixers got to an NBA title with Iverson on the roster.

However, a lack of consistent success frustrated Iverson, and in December 2006, he was sent to the Nuggets in a blockbuster midseason trade. However, Iverson only lasted 23 months in Denver, being dealt to the Pistons in 2008. After a brief stint in Memphis in 2009, Iverson rejoined the Sixers. However, he was forced to step away from the team in 2010 due to his daughter’s health. After playing ten games in Turkey in late 2010, Iverson officially retired. However, despite their rocky relationship while he was there, it’s clear that Iverson still loves the city that drafted him.

Allen Iverson Speaks On Special Bond With Philly

“I became a man in Philadelphia. I was 21 years old when I got there…As far as an athlete and a fanbase, there’s no other relationship like mine with the people in Philadelphia,” Iverson told former Sixers co-owner Michael Rubin while attending the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago. Furthermore, Iverson said he enjoys the sports memorabilia collection scene. According to Iverson, he views the memorabilia scene as fans at their most excited and most grateful to meet players.

However, Iverson’s relationship could have been very different if not for backup Sixers center Matt Grieger. In the summer of 2000, the Sixers were part of a massive trade. Some sources report it as six teams and 24 players. Meanwhile, other sources report it as four teams and 12 players. Regardless of how big the trade was, Iverson was on the edge of being dealt to the Pistons before Grieger refused to waive his $1.2 million trade kicker. Who knows how that would have affected the NBA and more importantly, Iverson’s relationship with Philadelphia.

James Harden Loaded Up On Burgers From Bun B At Rolling Loud While Joel Embiid Got Married

This past weekend was an eventful one for the stars of the Philadelphia 76ers, as Joel Embiid got married on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed himself, FaceTiming Meek Mill to rap “Dreams and Nightmares” to him from the ceremony while also dancing up a storm.

While that was happening and a handful of Embiid’s teammates were in attendance for his nuptials, James Harden and PJ Tucker were down in Miami enjoying themselves at Rolling Loud, where a video went viral of Harden grabbing four (4) hamburgers from legendary Houston rapper Bun B.

Listen, who among us has not been enjoying themselves at a concert, maybe had a few beverages, and not wanted to eat four hamburgers. I would do the same thing as Harden if presented with a tray of free burgers, so I am not going to be one to throw stones here.

That said, plenty of folks online began making connections between Harden’s statement (or maybe threat) earlier in the week to make things “uncomfortable” on his Instagram story amid the reports he’d be more than willing to report to camp and be a distraction should the Sixers not meet his trade request by October. Harden knows better than most how to turn up the heat on a team and make clear he doesn’t want to be there, as he put on some pounds in Houston when he wanted to leave the Rockets and made the Nets locker room miserable before being dealt to Philly. Maybe this is part of the program, maybe he’s taking burgers to some friends, or maybe he was just a very hungry fella. Either way, it is a pretty funny video of him just stacking burgers in his arms and disappearing into the night.

Joel Embiid Net Worth 2023: What Is The NBA Star Worth?

A distinctive melody begins in the heart of Africa, specifically in the thriving metropolis of Yaoundé, Cameroon. Joel Embiid was introduced to sports and competition not on a parquet court but on a grassy field. With a ball at his feet rather than in his hands, the future basketball prodigy kicked off his journey with soccer as his first love. Yet, the cadence of his destiny would soon change.

Basketball came calling, and Embiid responded enthusiastically, honing his craft with commitment and determination. By 2014, he had already traded the African savannah for the bright lights of the NBA. It was then the Philadelphia 76ers selected him as the third overall pick. This story, from Yaoundé to Pennsylvania, can be measured in one metric: $85 million, Embiid’s current net worth, as reported by CelebrityNetWorth.

Embiid’s symphony on the court quickly struck a chord with fans and critics alike. His rookie year was met with injury, and his debut was delayed. However, 2017 sparked a crescendo. Embiid’s debut season brimmed with laudable performances and accolades, such as being named to the All-Rookie First Team. He has consistently achieved All-Star status, etching his name into the annals of NBA history. He remains one of the most sought-after players in the NBA. As rumors of his future with the Sixers abound, fans wait for more news by the second.

Away from the limelight, Embiid’s life is less public but no less interesting. His playful social media presence echoes an accomplished musician’s light-hearted impromptu jam session. His famous tagline, “Trust the Process,” reflects not just his basketball philosophy but the rhythmic score of his life. It is a composition of patience, perseverance, and dedication. Also noteworthy is his romance with model Anne De Paula. Their son Arthur, named after Embiid’s late brother, represents a touching tribute, a moving verse in the ballad of Embiid’s life.

Beyond the basketball court, Embiid plays a different tune. He’s not just a marquee sportsman but an entrepreneur and philanthropist. His endorsement portfolio includes a lucrative deal with Under Armour and a stake in FC Prishtina, a Kosovar soccer club, marking a nostalgic return to his soccer roots. His philanthropy sings a powerful chorus of giving and empathy. The Joel Embiid Foundation, launched in 2018, seeks to empower youth in his native Cameroon through sports and education. This charitable work is the counterpoint to his sporting achievements, a harmonious blend of personal success and communal betterment.

James Harden Reiterates Desire For Sixers Exit

James Harden’s sign-to-trade return to the Sixers was one of the first major shocks of the NBA offseason. Since the veteran officially exercised his player option, the Sixers have attempted to find an equitable trade. However, hope remained within the organization that Joel Embiid, alongside new head coach Nick Nurse, could convince Harden to stay.

However, it appears that Harden is set on leaving the City of Brotherly Love. According to ESPN‘s Ramona Shelburne, Harden has reiterated his desire to be traded. Harden has played for the Sixers since a midseason trade with the Nets during the 2021/22 campaign. Across 79 games for the Sixers, Harden is averaging 21 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 10.6 assists per game. During the 2022/23 season, Harden led the league in assists per game.

Harden Still Wants Out

“James Harden has spoken to Daryl Morey since the first trade request, and I think there was some cooling off period. ‘OK, let’s let this lie and see how things play out,’” Shelburne said. “And they’ve spoken again, and he still reiterated he wants to be traded. Now, this isn’t a demand, it’s a request. And I think the Sixers have said, ‘OK, we will try to trade you, but there is no hurry to do this. I think the Sixers understand here that they have the leverage here,” Shelburne continued. “[Harden] picked up his option, this is an opt-in to a contract and he’s going to be a free agent after this season. And so, at some point, he needs to play, whether that’s in Philadelphia or elsewhere.”

It’s an eerily similar situation to the one unfolding in Portland. Blazers GM Joe Cronin has said he is willing to wait “months” to trade Damian Lillard. This is because, despite Lillard’s desire to leave Portland, he has no leverage in the situation. The Blazers are able to wait on the right trade package, knowing the only person who gets hurt by retaliation is Lillard himself. Similarly, as Shelburne mentions, Harden can’t afford to hold out on the Sixers given that he will be on the free agent market season. However, contrary to the Portland situation, things still appear to be amicable between Harden and the Sixers. However, this is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Joel Embiid Reacts To James Harden Trade Request

Joel Embiid and James Harden have made a solid duo over the past couple of seasons. However, they have not been able to get out of the second round. Throughout Embiid’s career, he has yet to make it into the Eastern Conference Finals. Overall, it is a bit of a disappointment, and fans will not let him forget about it. Although, with a little bit of help and even some luck, Embiid could definitely win an NBA title. The conditions for such a thing to happen just need to be 100 percent perfect.

Now, however, James Harden is asking for a trade out of Philadelphia. This could seriously mess up the team given their circumstances. If the return for Harden is no good, there will be no second superstar on the team. This would subsequently make the Sixers a lesser team. Moreover, it would put more of a burden on Joel Embiid. Having said that, it should come as absolutely no surprise that Embiid is very much interested in Harden staying with the team.

Joel Embiid Speaks Out

Recently, Joel Embiid got to speak with none other than Rachel Nichols about the James Harden situation. Overall, Embiid is asking Harden to stick around. Simply put, he wants the superstar to reconsider his life choices here. The reigning MVP firmly believes that if Harden were to stay, the team could compete for an NBA title. Although, there is really no evidence of that right now. Against the Boston Celtics, the Sixers were unable to get the job done and there is currently no indication that the Sixers are getting significantly better.

Unfortunately, it is going to continue to be a very difficult off-season for the Philadelphia 76ers. They have some big decisions to make that could ultimately also decide Joel Embiid’s future. Hopefully, for those fans, they don’t have to restart the process, anytime soon. Let us know what you think is going to happen, in the comments section below. Philadelphia 76ers Could Land Damian Lillard Under One Condition

The Philadelphia 76ers have many questions that need to be answered this off-season. First, will the franchise be willing to cut ties with star guard James Harden? Harden’s time with the franchise could end after a less-than-stellar playoff performance. The former league MVP has yet to decide on what his future plans will be. However, now it seems as if the team is in the middle of more off-season chaos. This time, it is revolving around the idea of trading for another superstar.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN has seemingly got the wheels moving for another rumor. The NBA analyst believes the 76ers could absolutely be in play for Damian Lillard. The Trail Blazers star has recently requested a trade, causing chaos for teams looking for that final piece. However, for Philadelphia to bring in a player like Lillard, it would cost a lot. “I think Maxey is the prime piece. And again, if Philadelphia was making that offer, Dame Lillard might be in Philly right now, but they are not.”

Would The Philadelphia 76ers Part Ways With Tyrese Maxey?

Lillard is one of the greatest players of his generation. Having him on your roster immediately makes your team a verified threat. However, giving up a young star like Maxey could bring a negative reaction. Maxey blossomed into a star during Philly’s latest postseason run. Many fans are now settling into the idea of Maxey being number two alongside Joel Embiid. If the franchise were to bring in another star and see the same results, the fanbase would largely lose faith.

It seems foolish to turn down the opportunity to bring in a caliber player like Lillard. But Maxey is still growing into the role of a potential superstar. At the same time, the franchise should look into this matter. However, would the risk outweigh the reward? Would the Philadelphia 76ers regret trading a player like Tyrese Maxey? Let us know how you feel in the comment section. For the latest news in sports, keep it right here with HNHH.

Draymond Green Reveals What Is Holding Back Ben Simmons

Draymond Green has quickly risen to the top of the NBA media world. While recording his podcast during the season, fans quickly wanted to hear what was on the mind of the Warriors star. Recently, Green shared the mic with another current player who has seen massive success with his podcast, Paul George. The two former NBA All-Stars discussed the league and other stars in the game during the segment. Including a discussion on former number-one overall pick Ben Simmons.

Simmons has been taken to task by nearly everyone in the NBA world. A once promising career is now quickly fizzling out. Although injuries have played a part in Simmons’ decline, his play just hasn’t been there either. George and Green discussed what the situation could be with the former LSU star. For Green, the answer is simple. The Warriors star claims that Simmons has lost his confidence. Which isn’t a far-fetched idea when one sits down to think about Simmons’ career.

Draymond Green Wants To See Ben Simmons Regain His Confidence

“You’ve seen people lose confidence in their game… Like Ben Simmons… He’s still the same Ben Simmons we watch dominate in Philly. The only difference… is confidence… I know how it feels to lose confidence,” Green stated. Everyone who watches the league knows of the now-famous moment Simmons had in Philadelphia. In an important playoff game, the Sixers guard passed up an open shot in a crucial moment that could’ve cost his team the game.

Simmons is never going to live down his tenure in Philadelphia. However, looking at the past is never good for anyone. Injuries have flanked his time in Brooklyn as well as some question his desire to play the game. It could be a long road back to Simmons finding his confidence again. However, it can be done. Tobias Harris Calls Out Sixers Fans Amid Trade Rumors

Tobias Harris has been garnering a lot of attention lately. However, it may not be for any reason that he would like it to be. Before Bradley Beal was traded to the Phoenix Suns, Harris was mentioned in a potential trade. At the time, the Suns were thinking about moving on from DeAndre Ayton. A plan that has since been put on the back burner. However, one of the landing spots for Ayton would have been in Philadelphia. As the rumor went, Harris would have been dealt to Pheonix.

However, now the Suns are claiming that they are sticking with Ayton. At least for one more season. For Harris, he still remains in Philadelphia. But it does seem like the trade talk is started to wear thin. In a recent interview, Harris was asked about his thoughts on being traded from Philadelphia. Let’s just say he didn’t sound too thrilled by the idea of starting new somewhere else. Check out the clip below.

Tobias Harris Frustrated With Trade Talk

“Casual Sixers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumbl Cookie… You’re not getting a 6’9 forward back who can damn near shoot 40% from 3, guard other teams best player, post-up, drive, play 70+ games.” To be fair, Harris did say it was only the casual fans that would want him gone for a cookie. Depending on the cookie and the amount of cookies I would receive, it would be hard for me to not want to trade everybody. Nevertheless, it seems that Harris feels slighted by the trade rumors.

The 6’9 forward does have the numbers to back up a great season. Last year, Harris averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds for the Sixers. Both numbers are a little below his career average. However, this past season in Philadelphia may have been the most talent that Harris has played around. There are a lot of questions left to be answered in Philadelphia before the start of next season. A big one will be if Tobias Harris is still on the roster for opening night. Tim Legler Roasts Philadelphia 76ers On “First Take”

Tim Legler has built a great career out of being a respected studio analyst. The former NBA sharpshooter always brings his A-game to the studio desk when discussing the game. On Tuesday, Legler joined the crew on ESPN‘s ‘First Take‘ to talk about the league. Including the future of the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers were stacked with talent this past season. However, a team with two NBA MVPs came up short of appearing in the Eastern Conference Finals. A season that could be looked at as a failure.

For Legler, he doesn’t believe the Sixers will do anything greater than they already have. “[James Harden] disappears in 4th quarter of games where he doesn’t want any part of that moment… Joel Embiid’s body language shows it every time James Harden looks like that… He saw the same thing with Ben Simmons.” Harden did disappear in vital moments during the Sixers elimination game against the Boston Celtics. Philadelphia fans know all too well how painful it is to see a superstar not show up in the big moments.

Where Do The 76ers Stand In The NBA Hierarchy?

While Legler torched Harden’s recent play, he still offered an answer to the franchise’s issue. Legler believes the franchise already has its next star on the team. Tyrese Maxey blossomed in this past season’s playoff run for Philadelphia. Legler isn’t the only one shouting praises for the young guard. However, Legler does feel that Maxey will never reach his full potential with Harden on the roster. As painful as it may sound, moving on from Harden is starting to make more sense as the days go on.

Every team is looking up and down their roster on how to get better before next season. The Denver Nuggets were the deepest and most talented team at the finish line. Now, who is going to take it upon themselves to challenge Denver for their throne next season? What moves do the 76ers need to make in order to finally win the Eastern Conference? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section. For the latest news in sports, keep it right here with HNHH.

In a move anticipated by many, the Philadelphia 76ers have fired head coach Doc Rivers.

The firing comes two days after the Sixers were blown out by the Boston Celtics 112-88 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, ending their season.

“Doc is one of the most successful coaches in NBA history, a future Hall of Famer, and someone I respect immensely,” 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey said in a statement. “We’re grateful for all he did in his three seasons here and thank him for the important impact he made on our franchise. After having the chance to reflect upon our season, we decided that certain changes are necessary to further our goals of competing for a championship.”

The Sixers are expected to look through a pool of Mike D’Antoni, Nick Nurse, Mike Budenholzer, Monty Williams, and more as candidates. Budenholzer, Williams, and Nurse were fired at the start of their respective offseasons.
