Nav, Bay Swag, And Cash Cobain Share Their ‘6am Thoughts’ On Their Thirsty New Single

With his new album On My Way 2 Rexdale coming soon, Canadian producer-rapper Nav taps into a new sound on his latest single. On “6am Thoughts,” Nav taps in with the rising “sexy drill” style along with its creators, New Yorkers Bay Swag and Cash Cobain, as they express their horniest desires over a skittering, drowsy beat. “Know I like when you suck when you slurp it,” they croon on the hook. “When you whine ‘pon the cocky, you so perfect.” Subtle, this song ain’t.

Nav’s new song is just the latest of high-profile co-signs for the rising New York duo, whose collaboration “Fisherrr” put them on the map earlier this year. Cash has since been featured on albums from fellow New York native A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie (on “Body” from Better Off Alone) and Don Toliver (on “Attitude” from Hardstone Psycho). He also received a feature from J. Cole on his single “Grippy” and from Ice Spice on the remix of “Fisherrr.”

The sexy drill movement has been rapidly expanding beyond the confines of the Big Apple, as shown by Nav’s dabbling in it on his new single, and is a dark horse for the sound of 2024.

You can listen to “6am Thoughts” above.

Nav Is ‘On My Way 2 Rexdale’ On His Upcoming Album, Out This Summer

Cheer up, Toronto. It’s not all bad news. While Drake licks his wounds, another of T. Dot’s favorite sons, Nav, has announced his new album, On My Way 2 Rexdale, is… well … on the way. The XO signee announced the impending release with a dramatic trailer, which promises a summer 2024 release date and features teases of the album’s featured guests through some suggestive imagery. It’s like a scavenger hunt for clues, from weathered skulls wearing bat-ear hats to looming cactuses and slithering snakes.

Nav has been off the radar for almost a year, ever since completing his Never Sleep Tour and livestreaming his hometown show in Toronto. While he joined Metro Boomin at the producer’s Red Bull Symphonic performance in Los Angeles, he has stayed out of the spotlight while working on On My Way 2 Rexdale, which follows his fourth album, Demons Protected By Angels, released a little under two years ago in September 2022.

That album had guest features from Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, and Gunna, and the imagery from the trailer suggests that they might all be back to help Nav kick off his next era. You can try and decipher the clues in the video above, or just wait ’til summer — which is only about a month away — to find out.

NAV Teases His New Album “On My Way 2 Rexdale” With Electrifying Trailer

NAV is an artist who has been instrumental to the Toronto sound. Overall, he came up producing for huge artists such as Drake. However, he was eventually signed to The Weeknd’s XO imprint, and he has not looked back since. During the late 2010s and even the early 2020s, he was a prolific artist of sorts. He was always coming through with new albums and singles, while also being featured on big albums. That said, as of late, he has taken a bit of a hiatus, much to the chagrin of all of his supporters.

Well, it appears as though NAV is ready to make his comeback. Today, the artist took to YouTube with a brand-new album trailer. This new project is called On My Way 2 Rexdale which is a reference to where he grew up. Throughout this trailer, we get some snippets of songs that will be found throughout the album. Moreover, there are even some clues as to which artists will be featured. The most obvious clues involve Future, Don Toliver, and even Playboi Carti.

NAV’s melodic stylings have always suited that time of year, especially if we are getting ourselves an upbeat album. No matter what, this should be an interesting listen. After being gone for so long, we are definitely in for a new sound and a revitalized NAV.
