Kendrick Lamar Set To Dominate The Billboard Top 10 And Nab A No. 1 Song In The Process

Many people in 2024 put forth the idea that Kendrick Lamar doesn’t have a lot of successful hits. Funnily enough, it feels like his new album GNX has nothing but that. Moreover, this is not only another great body of work from the Compton lyricist, but it’s also probably his most blunt and immediate one to date, which translates pretty well into catchy choruses, banger beats, and high-rising hits. New first week projections indicate that he will land eight cuts from the record on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, including a prediction that “squabble up” will go all the way at number one.

Per this sales projection, “tv off,” “luther,” “wacced out murals,” and “hey now” will occupy slots two through five. Then, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars will interrupt Kendrick Lamar’s streak via “Die With A Smile” at number six, followed by Shaboozey’s ever-present “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” at number seven. Then, the K.Dot train continues with “reincarnated,” “man at the garden,” and “dodger blue” rounding out the top ten in descending order from eight. Not bad, if you ask us.

Kendrick Lamar Could Take Over The Billboard Hot 100

While the topic of Kendrick Lamar and sales is a particularly spicy one now, the legal petition from Drake actually has very little to do with that battle. In either case, people would still spin GNX a lot, and we predict that this is the project that will carry us out into the end of the year. Folks are very curious to see how it actually performs commercially, especially considering that sales projections for it just get better and better. Also, the lack of promotion for the LP given its surprise nature makes these numbers particularly interesting to analyze.

Meanwhile, the praise for GNX remains high among fans and critics alike, even from unexpected corners. Kendrick Lamar definitely found a hit with this new album, and that’s amazing when you think about fans’ theories of a better, more purposeful album on the way. Even if that’s true, we’re happy to wait a while for it. This Hot 100 projection shows that this entire project has a lot of resonant ideas.

Tyler The Creator’s “CHROMAKOPIA” Secures Yet Another Week At No. 1 On Billboard

Tyler The Creator faced some mockery on the Internet for dropping his album on a Monday, but he ended up having his best commercial performance to date. Moreover, CHROMAKOPIA now spends its third week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart with 104K album-equivalent units sold in the week ending November 14, according to Billboard and Luminate. This now became the longest-running chart-topping LP from the Hawthorne native. The previous slot was for CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST in two separate weeks in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Streaming pushed most of these new numbers, although physical album sales and box sets also provided a boost.

What’s more is that this continued commercial success for CHROMAKOPIA comes as Tyler, The Creator is kicking off its live success for his upcoming tour. Following some smaller shows and listening parties, he closed out day one of his Camp Flog Gnaw carnival and festival at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium on Saturday night (November 16). It was the first time that the former Odd Future frontman performed many cuts off of the new project in a more formal, setlist-driven, full stage production setting with a massive audience, and it was a stellar main debut. Special guests included Doechii, Daniel Caesar, ScHoolboy Q, and even a twerk-off with Sexyy Red for “Sticky.” Better find a mop… Because they gave it their all, and someone has to clean up the sweat.

In addition to all this, Tyler, The Creator also contributed to another amazing last-quarter hip-hop album that adds to his achievements this week. He lent a small but welcome feature to Maxo Kream’s new project Personification, which you should absolutely spin right now if you haven’t already.

Meanwhile, Tyler, The Creator expressed his gratitude to fans a lot since CHROMAKOPIA dropped a few weeks ago, and you can tell this particular era and rollout for him is very special. It makes us even more excited to continue to dive in and enjoy the ride, and with his world tour on the way in 2025, we’re sure that we will be enjoying these new tracks for a long time.

Travis Scott Officially Gets “DAYS BEFORE RODEO” To Billboard No. 1 After Sabrina Carpenter Battle

Travis Scott may have been a couple of weeks late, but he finally got the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart that he and his team fought for. For those unaware, the tenth anniversary re-release of his fan-favorite mixtape DAYS BEFORE RODEO debuted at No. 2 upon release following a nail-biting but well-fought race with Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet LP… Potential sales discrepancies and all. However, now we can put that combative and minimizing conversation (that goes both ways) to rest, as the project jumped from 106 to No. 1 in its fourth week of release after vinyl editions exclusively available on La Flame’s website shipped out.

In fact, this is the biggest sales week for any hip-hop vinyl in modern history, and contributed to a total of 156K album-equivalent units sold in the tracking week ending September 19. Traditional album sales account for 150,000 of these numbers, but don’t think that the Houston superstar isn’t dominating streaming numbers as well. It’s Travis Scott’s biggest-ever vinyl week (149,000 copies), and the sixth-biggest vinyl week ever across all genres since Luminate’s tracking data for this began in 1991. Some more superlatives: so far, it’s reportedly 2024’s best-selling rap album and the best-selling mixtape of all time.

Travis Scott’s DAYS BEFORE RODEO Hits No. 1

Furthermore, this is Travis Scott’s fourth consecutive No. 1 solo album placement (albeit not upon its debut), with Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight, ASTROWORLD, and UTOPIA preceding it in 2016, 2018, and 2023 respectively. If you count the JACKBOYS compilation, then it’s his fifth No. 1 project (fun fact: this label team-up was the first No. 1 project on Billboard of the 2020s decade). Given all the massive shows that the “MY EYES” creative is doing across South America right now, we can imagine that he has ample reason and room to celebrate with his fans, loved ones, and team.

Meanwhile, some Travis Scott fans were disappointed this week for very different reasons. His teased feature on Future’s MIXTAPE PLUTO did not manifest, leaving a lot of fans scratching their heads as to why the guests didn’t show up. Maybe some clearance and label issues got in the way? We don’t know, but surely this news gives them at least something to cheer for.

Travis Scott’s “DAYS BEFORE RODEO” Projected To Go Number One Again Thanks To New Wave Of Sales

The reissuing of Travis Scott’s DAYS BEFORE RODEO has been a rollercoaster of emotions. It went from pure jubilance to gut-wrenching heartbreak and anger. Those feelings were certainly prevalent during the uber-competitive race to the top of the Billboard Hot 200 chart. Initially, Travis was behind by 100,000 units to Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet. Then a massive surge in sales eventually projected him to narrowly beat the pop singer. However, due to some recounting, one of Nicki Minaj’s new favorite artists would go onto to hold off the 10-year-old mixtape by just 1,000 copies.

Things would only continue to get worse for La Flame and his fans, though. DBR would then suffer the biggest sales percentage drop-off over the last decade for an album that remained on the Billboard chart. It went from number two to 30, and now, it’s currently at 106, according to HipHopDX. But HITS Daily Double has some incredibly shocking news. With shipments of vinyls making their way to consumers as we speak, DAYS BEFORE RODEO is now looking at a number one projection once again.

Travis Scott’s DAYS BEFORE RODEO Goes From Historic Low To Incredible High

As it stands, Travis Scott’s beloved project is on pace to move 130,000, with 125,000 of them being pure sales. This is currently enough to outpace Sabrina, who has been holding the number one spot for three consecutive weeks. Her album is looking to sell around 101,000. Fans make take this news with a grain of a salt, but we would be utterly shocked if Scott didn’t finally get to the top of the heap.

What are your thoughts on Travis Scott being projected to go number one with DAYS BEFORE RODEO? Is this one of the wildest sales fluctuations you have seen? Do you still think he was robbed from topping the chart a few weeks ago? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Eminem Officially Gets His 11th No. 1 Album With “The Death Of Slim Shady”

Eminem’s new album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) had a killer first week when it comes to sales, amassing 281K album-equivalent units without counting physical sales. Now, it officially manifested into his 11th career No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 albums chart, breaking Taylor Swift’s dominant 2024 record for 12 consecutive chart-topping weeks with The Tortured Poets Department. Moreover, this is the largest debut for any hip-hop album this year so far. Also, the Detroit MC now ties with Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, and Kanye West for the fifth-most number ones on the Billboard 200 chart.

For those curious, that list has Drake (13 No. 1 albums), Jay-Z and Taylor Swift (both with 14), and The Beatles (19) ahead of Eminem and company. Nevertheless, this is a huge achievement for him, even if the album’s critical reception has been less than stellar. However, comparison might be the thief of joy, but in this case, folks are generally much more receptive to this body of work than they were to Em’s other post-2000s releases. But whether you’re a fan or a hater, you can’t deny that there’s so much to appreciate and dissect when it comes to The Death Of Slim Shady.

Eminem’s The Death Of Slim Shady: Listen

In addition to this album success, Eminem continues to keep a firm grip on commercial dominance within the rap game, at least in a few different metrics. One of those is the goalpost of Spotify monthly listeners, which he sits firmly at the top of with around 86 million at press time. Kendrick Lamar is not far behind as the second rapper on this list with 75 million at press time, ironically surpassing Drake recently. Alas, not even their beef can dethrone Marshall Mathers.

Meanwhile, referring back to the depth and content within The Death Of Slim Shady, fans are still finding new details and interpretations to analyze and discuss. A popular recent theory is that Eminem actually intended to structure this album in reverse, as playing the tracks from last to first apparently reveals another perspective and concept. This isn’t the first time that viewpoints like these caused fan debate. But they rarely do, and engaging so many fans beyond a surface level listen is a feat far beyond a No. 1 debut.

Nicki Minaj Attempts To Reassert Her “Number 1” Status Following Cardi B’s Inspiration Award

Over this past weekend, the fourth annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards took place and Cardi B was a major headline from it. The Bronx, New York product was the honoree of the Inspiration Award, and she gave quite the impassioned speech. “I’m really my biggest critic and I always say this. Nobody has it harder than in the industry and in every genre than a female rapper, and I’m going to tell you why. You have to have the best verse. Not only that, you have to kill the charts. On top of that, your personal life has to be perfect, or then the opp b****es are going to use that against you”.

Perhaps that “opp” is Nicki Minaj because she did not appreciate her sworn enemy receiving all of that appreciation. Before Cardi B was rewarded for her efforts, she mentioned how she knows how influential she is to her field of hip-hop. In the Instagram clip below, the “I Like It” hitmaker says, “I obviously see it. Sometimes people always want to underestimate everything I have done but I know I have made a change in my field. I know I changed a lot of s***”. She continues, “I know I give a lot of girls inspiration, no matter if they admit it or not. Baby, I see Cardi B all over you, baby. B****, don’t play yourself”.

After waiting in the wings, Nicki Minaj unleashed on X in a late-night rant, looking to defend her “Number 1” status. “Hi so let’s get into this right now. I’m that Btch”, Nicki asserts. “That’s Number 1. Number 2. Revisit number one. If it means you gotta revisit that s*** 500 times a day, DO IT!!!!!!!! Before you EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think bout playing pon MY BOMBOROSCLOT HEADTOP!!!!!”. She does make a compelling argument, especially with her bragging about her uber-successful tour during this diatribe.

What are your thoughts on Nicki Minaj’s response to Cardi B talking about inspiring other female rappers? Who do you think is “number 1” between these two and why? Was Cardi deserving of the Inspiration Award in your opinion? Do you think she is bound to drop her sophomore album this year? Kendrick Lamar And Tommy Richman Neck And Neck For Top Spot On Next Week’s Hot 100

The biggest beef in hip-hop has already proven to be quite lucrative for the artists at its core. Only two of the songs where Drake and Kendrick Lamar directly diss each other have hit the hot 100 so far. The first was “Like That” which landed on Future & Metro Boomin’s new album WE DON’T TRUST YOU back in March. The shots Kendrick threw out combined with the impressive sales of the song itself led to the track debuting at the very top spot on the Hot 100, where it stayed for multiple weeks. It was the second beef-spawning track to debut at the top spot this year following Megan Thee Stallion’s “HISS.”

Now Kendrick Lamar is aiming for yet another number one debut spawning from the beef, but he isn’t getting it without a fight. His biggest challenger is Tommy Richman, who just debuted his new song “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” at number two on this week’s Hot 100. This weeks chart leader “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift and Post Malone is expected to slip down the charts. That leaves Kendrick’s first track addressing Drake head on “euphoria” to battle with Richman’s “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” which is expected to get a boost in streaming this week. Chart projections between the pair are currently too close to call.

Kendrick Lamar And Tommy Richman Battling For Number One

“Like That” has the potential to become one of Kendrick’s biggest Hot 100 hits of all time. Billboard already has the song listed as his 28th biggest Hot 100 hit after just 5 weeks. The song returned to the top 10 of the chart this week. That came after Taylor owned the entirety of the chart’s peak on last week’s edition.

What do you think of Kendrick Lamar having to battle Tommy Richman for a number one debut on next week’s Hot 100? Who do you think will ultimately take home the top spot when the Hot 100 drops next week? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kendrick Lamar Scores This Milestone For Feature On “Like That”

Kendrick Lamar has been an integral part of the mini resurgence in hip-hop this year. His verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That” has seemingly reignited the competitive fire that fans have been yearning to see again. It got J. Cole to respond with “7 Minute Drill,” but that has proven to be a failure as many think he fell flat on his face. The apology has further cemented K-Dot as the top dog in many people’s eyes. In addition to bringing the hype back to rap, “Like That” has done wonders for Kendrick, as he just scored a new milestone.

According to HipHopDX, Kung Fu Kenny has just nabbed his longest-running number song on the Billboard Hot 100. With “Like That recently remaining atop the chart for a second consecutive week, it surpassed two previous major works. Those include his guest appearance on Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” and the lead single for DAMN., “HUMBLE.” In terms of hard stats for “Like That,” they are equally impressive.

Kendrick Lamar’s Diss Continues To Do Wonders For Him

In just about three weeks, the diss aimed at Drake and J. Cole has collected over 109 million streams on Spotify. For context, it pulled in about 46 million in the last seven days. Furthermore, radio impressions are also high, sitting at around 10 million, and 6,000 sales-equivalent units is a respectable figure too. With all of this success, it would be wild if Kendrick, Metro, and Future were to team up on We Still Don’t Trust You. We can dream can’t we?

What are your thoughts on Kendrick Lamar earning his longest-running number one hit milestone with “Like That? Is this his best top-charting track, why or why not? Does it lose points for it being a feature, or does that it make it more impressive? Is this still the best song on WE DON’T TRUST YOU? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s “CARNIVAL” Expected To Go No. 1 This Week

The biggest track off of Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s VULTURES 1 is still building up a lot of momentum. Moreover, according to Talk of the Charts, “CARNIVAL,” also featuring Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti, is expected to go No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week a little less than a month after its initial release. While it hasn’t been able to crack that top spot so far, the song still has a lot of social media pushing behind it and has been ranking high on pretty much every applicable commercial metric. These are all just predictions that aren’t coming straight from Billboard, but with that grain of salt in mind, it would be a pretty interesting cinch for the duo.

For example, if “CARNIVAL” goes number one, then Ye would become the first hip-hop artist to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart in three separate decades. His last No. 1 was 2011’s “E.T.” with Katy Perry, and “CARNIVAL” would be his fifth chart-topper alongside “Gold Digger,” “Slow Jamz,” and “Stronger.” As for Ty, it would be his second No. 1, and it would be Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti’s first. All this is pretty promising ahead of the prompt release of VULTURES 2 sometime… soon… ish.

“CARNIVAL” Might Go No. 1 Ahead Of VULTURES 2‘s Release

What’s more is that, for folks who liked King Vamp on “CARNIVAL,” it looks like there will be plenty more where that came from. Playboi Carti appears on various tracks that Ye and Ty Dolla Sign featured during their recent VULTURES 2 listening party, so it looks like they’re working with a lot of the same collaborators as the first installment. While this might disappoint some fans, these albums are part of a series. As such, it’s no surprise that they feel connected like this, albeit like retreads. But we can’t say for sure until the rest of them actually drop.

Meanwhile, given that Rich The Kid hopped on a car to sing this song with fans at the Italy listening event, it’s clear that this song really resonated with the artists and with the fans in every sense of the word. Do you think that it will cinch a No. 1? Drop your thoughts down in the comments section below. Also, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and updates on all things Vultures.

Beyonce Hits No. 1 Spot On Billboard With “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM”

Beyoncé’s two new country songs continue to make history, as “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” just hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated March 2. Moreover, this marks her ninth solo No. 1 song after a No. 2 debut last week, and makes her the first Black woman to top the Hot 100 with a country song. Along with the other track “16 CARRIAGES,” Queen Bey definitely reflected a big shift, and broke various records when it came to country chart placements. Not only that, but this is all building up massive hype for her new album, her ACT II phase dropping March 29 of this year.

Furthermore, Beyonce garnered 29 million streams for “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” this week, and radio airplay reportedly went up 233% according to Billboard. In addition to her nine solo No. 1s, she also has four chart-toppers as a member of Destiny’s Child, and she’s had number one hits for over 24 years. The Houston native also topped the Spotify global charts for the first time with this record. As far as other players on the Billboard top 10 this week, these include Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me” and Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, Rich The Kid, and Playboi Carti’s “CARNIVAL.”
