People Adored Dolly Parton’s NFL Thanksgiving Halftime Show, Especially In Comparison To Jack Harlow’s

Yesterday (November 23) was Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving means NFL football, and NFL football means halftime shows. The sports league booked a nice roster of performers for this year’s festivities, with Jack Harlow playing the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions game, Dolly Parton performing at the Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys match-up, and Steve Aoki taking the contest between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

It was Parton and Harlow who drew the most attention, though, but for different reasons.

Parton gave it her all, donning a Cowboys cheerleader uniform on a massive stage as she delivered rousing renditions of her own “Jolene” and “9 To 5” and Queen’s “We Are The Champions” and “We Will Rock You.”

Harlow, meanwhile, was decidedly more scaled back with his production, running through four songs on a small igloo set.

Harlow’s performance happened earlier in the day, so after Parton’s went down later on, the internet was full of comparisons between the two showings, pretty much exclusively in favor of Parton. One X (formerly Twitter) user commented, “Beloved American icon Dolly Parton showing the world how to do a halftime show only hours after Jack Harlow borrowed the set from a local middle school’s production of Frozen for his.”

Travis Kelce And Taylor Swift Get Stamp Of Approval From Roger Goodell

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had said he is a big fan of the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift romance due to the boost of attention it brought to the NFL. “It has connected more fans of Taylor’s and more fans of the NFL in some ways. To see that they have a connection, now they have a connection to our game and to Taylor. I think it’s great for the league to have that kind of attention. So we welcome it.” 

Swift and Kelce have been dating for a little over two months, with the musical megastar becoming a regular fixture at Chiefs games. While the interest has since tapered off, her first appearances saw a massive influx of viewers to NFL games, especially among young women. Furthermore, the league has seen a major pop in its social and cultural profile thanks to the connection. Goodell’s comments echo those of Magic Johnson, who said the league is “very happy” with the revenue uptick created by Swift.

The View Discusses Travis Kelce’s “Red Flags”

Meanwhile, Kelce was a recent topic of discussion on The View. The hosts of the show recently debated what they believed Travis Kelce was “hiding” about his relationship with Taylor Swift. “Some of the things he said raised some red flags for me. He said, ‘The biggest thing to me: Make sure I don’t say anything that would push Taylor away.’ What is he hiding then? For me, I want to know the good, the bad and the ugly up-front,” Sunny Hostin said of Kelce’s recent interview with the Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, Sara Haines said she was concerned that Kelce admitting to “thinking constantly about retirement”.

However, Joy Behar, surprisingly, came to Kelce’s defense. She dismissed any notion that Kelce was looking to leave football to “live off” Swift. While Haines tried to argue that wasn’t what she meant, she didn’t make it clear why Kelce leaving football was a “red flag”. Kelce is 34 and has been playing in the NFL for a decade. For context, the average age of retirement in the NFL is 27.8. Kelce’s current contract, which pays him over $57 million, expires after the 2025 season. Furthermore, both Kelce brothers have begun to public eye a life away from football.

Drew Brees Reveals That His Right Arm “Doesn’t Work” Anymore

Drew Brees shut down any speculation that he might be coaxed out of retirement by revealing a heart-breaking facet of his post-playing physique. “Look, I’ll let you in on a little fact. I don’t throw with my right arm anymore. My right arm does not work. So, when I throw in the backyard right now, I throw left-handed,” Brees told ESPN radio. Brees made the comments while appearing at a pickleball promotional event alongside John McEnroe. “I can play pickleball because it’s below the waist but anything above my shoulder I have a hard time with,” Brees explained.

Furthermore, Brees revealed that the root of his injury is a dislocation he suffered with the Chargers back in 2005. “[The injury] put me on the fast-track to a degenerative shoulder and all kind of arthritic changes. “If I could [throw right-handed], I would absolutely still be playing,” he explained. Brees needed a then-record 12 anchors to repair a 360-degree of his right labrum. He would join the Saints in 2006, spending the rest of his career in New Orleans.

Joe Flacco: “I Can Still Play”

While Brees may be permanently sidelined, there is one veteran QB who believes he’s still raring to go. Joe Flacco spoke on his return to the league during an introductory press conference with the Browns. “I definitely believe I can still play. I’m a veteran guy that’s been around a lot at this point in the season with a team that’s doing well. So, I think there’s a lot of different things I that I can bring to the table. Whatever my role ends up being and wherever this takes me, then I’ll do my best at that,” Flacco said.

The Browns brought in Flacco to add depth at quarterback after Deshaun Watson was ruled out for the rest of the season. However, Flacco will begin his Browns tenure as the backup to rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Thompson-Robinson earned the starting job after an impressive performance against the Steelers last weekend in what was his second career start. The Browns face the Broncos this weekend, a team that Flacco spent time with after leaving the Ravens.

This year, the National Football League (NFL) is looking to cover all bases as they do head-to-head with the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Jack Harlow — Packers vs. Lions

Jack Harlow will be there to break up the tension with some lighthearted entertainment as the Green Bay Packers take on the Detroit Lions at home. The game is set to start at 12:30 pm ET. Harlow will surely perform some of his more notable hits, but fans might be in luck as his latest single, “Lovin’ On Me,” just could make the setlist.

Dolly Parton — Commanders vs. Cowboys

The next big game slated to take place on Thanksgiving Day is the Washington Commanders versus the Dallas Cowboys. The Commanders hope to steal a win from the Cowboys on their home field. The match-up will kick off at 4:30 pm ET. For the halftime entertainer, none other than country-music-queen-turned-rocker Dolly Parton will perform a medley of her discography. She may have turned down the Super Bowl Halftime Show several times, but she couldn’t resist the Cowboys’ charm.

Steve Aoki — 49ers vs. Seahawks

The last face-off of the evening will be the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. Kick-off for the showdown in the Seahawks’ backyard is scheduled for 8:20 pm ET. To pump up the jam, Steve Aoki is billed as the halftime performance. Aoki is a wiz with music technology, not such much on the AstroTurf (see his Red Sox and Houston Astros pitch). But, he’s looking to redeem himself in the eyes of sports fans with a few on-field plays of his own.

Charissa Thompson Bizarrely Admits To Making Up Sideline Reports In The Past

NFL host Charissa Thompson made a bold confession on an episode of Pardon My Take this week, admitting that she has fabricated sideline reports in the past. “I’ve said this before. I haven’t been fired to saying it, but I’ll say it again. I would make up the report sometimes, because A, the coach wouldn’t come out at halftime, or it was too late and I didn’t want to screw up the report. So I was like, ‘I’m just gonna make this up.’ Because first of all, no coach is gonna get mad if I say, ‘Hey, we need to stop hurting ourselves, we need to be better on third down, we need to stop turning the ball over and do a better job of getting off the field.’ They’re not gonna correct me on that. So I’m like, it’s fine, I’ll just make up the report.”

Thompson was previously a sideline reporter for Fox before moving to hosting roles at the NFL Network and Amazon. However, her confession has caused an uproar within the media community. “Young reporters: This is not normal or ethical. Coaches and players trust us with sensitive information, and if they know that you’re dishonest and don’t take your role seriously, you’ve lost all trust and credibility,” ESPN broadcaster Molly McGrath wrote on social media in response to the news. Furthermore, Thompson had previously alluded to paraphrasing or embellishing comments from coaches. However, this was the first time she had admitted to completely fabricating parts of her reporting.

Will Thompson Be Punished For Her Admission?

Intentionally or not, Thompson has likely created a much bigger story around the profession and ethics of the sideline reporter role. She is a well-liked personality and is often praised for making professional reporting engaging to interact with. However, it’s rare that a journalist will be forthcoming with the fact that they intentionally broadcast information they knew to be false. Neither the NFL Network nor Amazon have commented on Thompson’s admission. Furthermore, it’s unclear if she will be reprimanded for what she admitted to.

However, the repercussions could be much more big-picture in scope. Coaches may be less willing to Thompson now that she has sunk her own credibility. Furthermore, praise of her reporting may be more subdued. From now on, bosses and fans alike wonder whether she is actually speaking the truth when turned to. Thompson no longer primarily works in a sideline reporter role. However, there is every chance that the entire field takes a hint as coaches become more wary of the reporters they are speaking to. However, this is a developing story and we’ll have any updates as they emerge.

Michael Thomas Arrested On Simple Battery Charges

Michael Thomas has been arrested for misdemeanor charges of simple battery and criminal mischief following an altercation with a construction worker who had been working on a house neighboring the Saints star wide receiver. Kenner police Lt. Mark McCormick revealed that the incident occurred around 7:00 PM on Friday, November 10.

“The victim stated that Thomas began yelling at him about parking in front of his house and verbally threatened to harm him,” McCormick announced in a press release, as noted by Around the NFL. “The victim began recording the incident, which upset Thomas, who then picked up a brick and threw it at the windshield of the truck, causing little if any damage. Thomas then walked up to the victim, knocked the phone from his hands, shoved him and told him he did not want to be recorded.”

Michael Thomas Scores A Touchdown For The Saints

Police released Thomas around 10:00 PM on the same night as his arrest. It’s unclear if the league plans to discipline him. In response to his arrest, the Saints released the following statement: “We are aware of the incident and are gathering information.” The organization acquired Thomas in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He’s recorded 564 receptions for 6,560 yards and 36 touchdowns with the team. After an incredible start to his career, he played in just 10 appearances over the three years prior to 2023 due to injuries.

The New Orleans Saints will take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at 1:00 PM, ET. Regardless of the arrest, Thomas will likely play in the game. The Saints are currently 5-4. The New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers squared off last night, November 6, on Monday Night Football. This game was on primetime due to Aaron Rodgers’ arrival to the team this past offseason. However, the night matchups the Jets have been featured in have been lessened in his absence. It showed because, with Zach Wilson at the helm, their offense could only muster two field goals. This led to one of the more boring games of the season as the Chargers were able to win 27-6 even with their poor offensive performance as well. When Aaron Rodgers went down with his unfortunate achilles tear everyone thought that the New York Jets season was lost. Even after the highly maligned Zach Wilson stepped in and led them to a thrilling win over the division-rival Buffalo Bills, no one was convinced. However, the defense has been pretty much lights out and Zach has made some plays. This was good enough for them to go on a three-game winning streak. They did come back to earth against the Los Angeles Chargers last night, losing 27-6 and dropping to 4-4.

But, the season is still far from over for these Jets. They are in the thick of the playoff race. They are just a few spots behind the Cincinnati Bengals for the final wildcard spot. On top of that, multiple people have claimed that if they remain in the hunt, Rodgers would try to rush back and play. It would be quite a miracle, though. TMZ Sports says that the fastest anyone has recovered from an achilles tear was Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers. That took around five and a half months. But, Aaaron has been making serious progress and apparently, it could be in no time that we see him take the field.

Taylor Swift Invited Chiefs Wives And Girlfriends Over To Watch Their Game In Germany

Even though the Taylor Swift sightings at Kansas City Chiefs games have seemed to dwindle, she is still doing what she can to support. This past Sunday marked an important day in the NFL’s history, as they continue to expand the game to other countries. We have seen some great matchups take place in London, now we can expect more in Frankfurt, Germany.

The first one to take place happened to be the Chiefs and the “visiting” Miami Dolphins. It was a bit of a snoozer at the end of the first half. Travis Kelce and his team led 21-0. Then, Miami finally began to wake up and cut to seven heading into the fourth quarter. The Dolphins had a shot to tie with around a minute remaining but squandered the opportunity. Kelce was not his normal dominant self, hauling in just three catches for 14 yards. However, it was still good enough for him to be the leading receiver in franchise history, surpassing their former tight end, Tony Gonzalez.

Taylor Swift Continues To Ingratiate Herself

Daniel Jones Suffers Season-Ending Torn ACL Injury, New York Giants Fall To 2-7

For most of this last decade, the New York Giants have been stuck in mediocrity. That was until just last season. Led by their number eight overall pick from 2019, Daniel Jones, they went 9-7-1 and nabbed a wild card spot. In fact, they even grabbed a fairly stunning victory against the Minnesota Vikings on the road. They would eventually fall to the Eagles in the Divisional Round. Nonetheless, it was still a successful season with their first-year head coach Brian Daboll. However, things have gone south for Jones and the Giants this season.

Somehow, Jones has regressed to an extent and they are now 2-7 on the year after falling to the Las Vegas Raiders who are also going nowhere. The final score was 30-6, and even though the visiting team still might not have won, it might have been closer if Jones played the whole way. Right at the beginning of the second quarter, the Duke product crumbled to the turf on a contactless injury.

Daniel Jones Season Ended On This Play: Watch

In sports, when a player goes down without anyone near him, you immediately fear the worst. Unfortunately, that did happen as multiple reports, including TMZ Sports, came out that Daniel Jones suffered a torn ACL. With that one final blow for Giants fans, they seem to have a lot more questions to answer than expected this upcoming offseason. In addition, Jones just inked a four-year $160 million dollar deal for his efforts just last season. The only two quarterbacks on the roster are a banged-up Tyrod Taylor and undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito. The latter stepped into to finish the game and he will shoulder the load until Taylor returns.
