Teezo Touchdown’s Response To Being Mentioned On Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Is A Masterclass In Pacifism

Overall, Teezo Touchdown is an artist who has been exploding in popularity as of late. This is thanks to a plethora of features on songs from Drake and Travis Scott. He has even gone on tour with Don Toliver, which speaks to how big he has gotten as of late. Moreover, he was even mentioned on Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss, “Not Like Us.” He is mentioned very early in the song and if you’ve heard the track, you probably already know the line by heart.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Teezo was asked how he feels about the namedrop. Considering he has a working relationship with Drake, you can understand how he may be just a tad uncomfortable. Furthermore, he has always been someone who remains neutral and lives a pacifist lifestyle. That was fully on display during his answer. In fact, Teezo didn’t listen to a single one of the diss tracks throughout the entire battle. Instead, he simply appreciates that the biggest artists in hip-hop know who he is.

Teezo Touchdown Is Worried About Other Things

“I made a decision that I wasn’t going to listen to any of the back-and-forth,” Teezo said. “I’m seeing a mob mentality, and I don’t like division. Sorry I’m so kumbaya, but it’s all love over here. [The simple fact they both] know who I am… it’s still one of those moments where you have to pinch yourself. The kid in Beaumont, I’m pretty sure he’s jumping through the roof right now.”

Quavo And Offset Squash Their Beef Following Rich Homie Quan’s Death

Things have been contentious between the living members of Migos. Quavo and Offset had a falling out before the death of third member Takeoff, and their relationship has not improved since. There has been the occasional birthday post, but by and large, the two men do not speak. It appears as though the death of Rich Homie Quan has changed that. The rapper passed at age 34 on September 5, rocking the music world to its core. Quavo posted a tribute to Quan, but more importantly, he took steps to repair things with his brother.

Quavo took to his Instagram Stories to deliver the good news. He posted the Quavo and Takeoff song “Nothing Changed” on his Story, along with the text: “Good convo with my bro.” He even tagged Offset, making it clear that the two men were on the same page. The comment section was flooded with happy fans. Some lamented that it took the passing of a close friend to bring Quavo and Offset together. “They should have did this before Rich Homie died,” one user wrote. Most of the commenters were happy that steps were being taken at all. “Good,” another user wrote. “We need y’all. We done already lost too much of our childhood.”

Quavo Confirmed He Had A Good Convo With Offset

Quavo and Offset have talked about each other in interviews. There’s generally a sense of frustration underpinning their answers, though. Offset made it clear that he didn’t care about fan speculation during his appearance on Million Dollaz Worth of Game. “I don’t feel like I owe it to people to show how much me and bro love each other,” the rapper stated. “We went through something. We don’t have to show you n**gas smiles and faces, so stop doing that.”

Quavo has also taken digs at the rocky public relationship between Offset and Cardi B. He took to Twitter in December to make it clear that he wasn’t condoning the airing out of personal information that Offset was participating in. “Nephew ain’t with the soap opera,” Quavo tweeted. “Long live rocket. Pray for y’all though.” The tension seemed to dissipate slightly in April, when Offset wished Quavo a happy birthday on Instagram. “Happy gday my brother @quavohuncho love you 4L,” he wrote. It’s unclear how much Rich Homie Quan’s death sped up the process, but it looks like the Migos rappers are finally ready to bury the hatchet.

Playboi Carti Pays Tribute To Rich Homie Quan During Award Acceptance Speech

September 5 proved to be a sad day in music. Rich Homie Quan died at age 34. There are countless album releases and events going on, but rappers everywhere are feeling the loss. Nowhere was this more evident than the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Awards. Playboi Carti won his first ever award at the event. The rapper had already paid tribute to Quan earlier in the day, but he took the time to give a shoutout to Quan before he exited the stage.

It’s bizarre to think about Playboi Carti having never won an award. Yet, those were the circumstances in which the elusive rapper came to the stage. He thanked his mother, he thanked God, and he thanked the Billboard organization for giving him the award. Carti took a beat before continuing his speech, looked at the award in his hand, and shifted directions. “RIP Rich Homie Quan,” he told the crowd. He proceeded to shout out Quan’s crew, which drew cheers of support from those in the audience.

Playboi Carti Paid Tribute To Quan Multiple Times

Playboi Carti previously posted music video footage of Quan on his Instagram Story. The two men never collaborated on a song together, but Carti has made it clear that he respected Quan as a musical talent. This is not the first time that Playboi Carti has talked about a fallen rapper in public. He paid tribute to the late, great Fredo Santana during a concert in 2022. “I miss Fredo like a motherfucker,” he told the crowd before wiping tears from his face.

Playboi Carti also got emotional talking about Juice WRLD. “That sh*t blew my mind bro,” he explained. “He was really a GOAT.” Carti’s voice cracked in the middle of the interview, and he reflected on the fact that he didn’t spend as much time with Juice as he intended. “Even if we wasn’t seen together like that,” he noted. “We was close.” Carti also noted that he regularly talks about the rappers who pass with peers like Lil Uzi Vert. He’s seen a lot, and sadly Rich Homie Quan is the latest to join the tragic list.
