On this date in 1994, WTC affiliates Gravediggaz dropped the crew’s groundbreaking debut album, 6 Feet Deep. The group, composed of Prince Paul, Frukwan of Stetsasonic, RNS, Grym Reaper, Mr. Sime, and The Abbott himself, aka the Rzarector, released this classic piece on Gee Street Records. The original title, Niggamortis, was changed to appeal to mainstream audiences.

The album became a trailblazing prototype for what is now recognized as the “horrorcore hip-hop” genre. It’s grizzly references to death, graves, and other snuff scenarios carved a lane for Gravediggaz all of their own.

Tracks like “Diary Of A Madman” and “Nowhere To Run, Nowhere To Hide” led the album’s momentum as strong singles. Still, hidden gems like “Bang Your Head” and “Here Comes The Gravediggaz” were favorites of backpacking rap enthusiasts everywhere.

Salute to the Gravediggaz for this solid album! Peace!

Keefe D Says He Spent Years Trying To Collect $1M From Diddy For Alleged Role In Tupac Killing

Screenshot 2024 08 06 at 10.35.56 AM

The filmmaker who directed the Murder Rap documentary released a 2008 audio clip of reputed gang member and Tupac murder suspect Duane “Keefe D” Davis confessing to his involvement in Shakur’s 1996 killing, talking about his difficulty getting a $1 million payment from Diddy in exchange for carrying out the hit.

Davis claims he told Eric “Von Zip” Martin to collect the money in the days following the shooting, but this was unsuccessful.

“What’s up with the cash?” Keefe D recalled asking Zip over a month after the killing. “[Zip said], ‘[Diddy] ain’t give it to me yet.’ We need money, motherf*cker. They took our guns, all that sh*t. We need some money. They must got millions.”

Within the past year, Diddy has become one of the main figures of interest in the Tupac killing and the East Coast vs. West Coast beef of the 90s seems to be the motive of the shooting deaths of both the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. People have speculated on the Bay Boy mogul’s involvement in both murders, but there has been no substantial evidence until the arrest of Davis.

Davis was set to be released on a $750K secured bond as he awaits trial, however, a Nevada judge denied his attempt at making bond. With controversial Cali figure Wack 100 behind the attempt to post bond, the judge found the financial sourcing to be suspicious and denied Davis’ release.

“We are disappointed with the court’s decision to deny bail to Mr. Davis, especially considering the thorough vetting by Konvict Bail Bonds of the funding source conducted before the source hearing,” said Davis’ attorney Carl Arnold. “We firmly believe there is a lack of substantive proof that Mr. Davis intended to profit from his alleged connections to the case.”

Today In Hip Hop History: YO! MTV Raps Debuted On MTV 36 Years Ago

Screen Shot 2022 08 06 at 5.42.16 AM 693x400

36 years ago on this date, MTV premiered the first episode of the Hip Hop generated video show, YO! MTV Raps.

Everybody has their own personal memory of MTV Raps. Whether it was during the era of comedians Ed Lover and Doctor Dre or during the Fab 5 Freddy reign, YMTVR gave the world its first continual, visual experience of Hip-Hop music. Not to downplay the world famous VJ Ralph McDaniels and the esteemed Video Music Box show based in NYC as well, but the scenarios, special guests, live performances, and other exclusive footage was only available on Music Television’s first Hip Hop show.

Created by late film director Ted Demme, Yo! MTV Raps‘ first video to appear was Rakim’s “Follow The Leader”, which was shown on the 1987 pilot, however, Shinehead’s “Chain Gang” was the actual first video shown during the show’s debut season. It helped spread Hip Hop across the globe with the help of MTV Europe, MTV Asia, and MTV Latino.

The series finale aired on August 17, 1995, with an unforgettable freestyle session. There were several attempts by MTV to relaunch a Hip Hop video show that had a cultural impact like Yo!, including Direct Effect and Sucker Free, however, Yo! MTV Raps remains an unparalleled aspect of Hip Hop culture.

YG Says He Remains Aligned with “FDT”: ‘It’s Still That’

YG012

There is no switch-up in YG’s game. Appearing on a stream with Adin Ross, YG revealed he still does not love Donald Trump.

“I think it’s still [fuck Donald Trump],” YG said. “I seen something a week or two weeks ago that Trump was trying to give immunity to police officers and I don’t understand how a human being can do that. I’m Black so I got a lot of homies and friends that been in police brutality situations where they ain’t really do nothing wrong.

“Police tripping out and n-ggas end up dead or fucked up in jail and all type of shit, and I feel like police should be responsible for their actions. But for Trump – he thinks different and I don’t fuck with that.”

After shocking the world by walking out during the Republican National Convention to 50 Cent’s part real-life/part fable hit “Many Men” earlier this month, former President Donald Trump came on controversial internet personality Adin Ross’ stream to the assassination survival track.

In the beginning of the stream, Ross is seen setting up his camera in front a crowd of seated Trump supporters. Many Men can be heard in the background and a few seconds later, Trump is seen walking out from a hallway behind the soon to be cheering crowd.

On the livestream, Trump addresses a few topics, including Young Thug’s current RICO trial, to which Trump says he heard that he has been treated unfairly and comments, “He needs to be treated fairly.”

[WATCH] Polo G Breaks Silence On His Mother Shooting At His Sister

Screenshot 2024 08 05 at 10.25.46 PM

Back in June, a video made rounds on social media which showed Stacie Mac, the mother of rapper Polo G, allegedly shooting at her daughter and Polo’s sister Leilani.

In the footage, Mac can be heard screaming after what sounds like a gunshot goes off, “Get off my s**t. You tough b**ch. You tough b**ch,” while chasing Leilani. Another gunshot sounds off and screams from a woman, presumably Leilani, are heard. Stacia then walks back into her home, still visibly upset.

Polo G addressed the video in a new interview with The Breakfast Club, saying that he will always intervene in situations like that because he does not want to see things “go too far.” That prompted jokes from Charlamagne, who pointed out that they were already fighting and shooting at each other. He remarked that since Polo G is from Chicago, his definition of “too far” is different from everyone else’s, which Polo laughed at.

Shortly after the video surfaced on Instagram, Polo G’s mother claimed that Leilani had a manic episode that night. She added that she fired shots because she wanted her off the property immediately. Leilani claimed that her mother was “jealous” of her and “wants to be a thug.”

Polo G is in the middle of a difficult situation, one that Breakfast Club co-host DJ Envy asked if he started working to help resolve. He responded by saying he wants to help the two of them put their issues aside. At the same time, he also wants to “let it breathe” before attempting to do so.
