Fans have shown concern for ATL rapper/actor Ludacris after he posted a video of him drinking water from a glacier of ice in Alaska.

Luda posted the video yesterday(August 26), showing himself on the edge of an ice cap and filling up his container with the natural ice-cold water.

“I couldn’t come here and just have a show,” Luda said. “You know I got a bucket list — or as I like to call it the fuck it list. I’ve never tasted fresh glacial water ever in my life, and this is a first. Here we go!”

Luda added in his IG caption, “Water So Good It Tastes Like GOD Made It. Well, Because He Did.”

Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr. commented on X (formerly Twitter), said, “……how long ago did he shoot this and have we been monitoring him?”

The “Move” rapper also wrote, “I see a lot of people name calling but still water is still water. Boil that shit and make it cold again” while sharing a video warning people about the danger of drinking natural glacial water.

See the video O’Shea posted HERE

In the clip, a man claims he was “literally sick for two weeks” after drinking water from a 600,000-year-old glacier, despite it being “the best water I think I’ve ever had.”

Ludacris later replied in a video posted on X and didn’t show any signs of bad health.

“Yo, for everybody asking me how that glacial water really tasted, and when I tell y’all I’m a water snob, it was the best tasting water I’ve ever had in my life,” he said.

Some diseases have been frozen in glaciers for hundreds of years and still exist in the water after it has melted. Animals called Tardigrades, which are less than a millimeter in size, can also be found in the water.

Dangerous metals such as mercury, zinc and cadmium have also been detected in glacial water.

“When the shot goes off I see the light from the spark and I hear the shot,” Troy testified in court last March. “This is all happening fast. I get up and start fighting Taxstone, trying to take him, grab the gun, and another shot goes off. I put my leg up to kind of block the shot from hitting me in the face or chest.”

Today in Hip-Hop History: BDP’s Scott La Rock Shot And Killed In The Bronx 37 Years Ago

scott la rock 1

On this date 37 years ago, Scott Sterling aka DJ Scott La Rock of Boogie Down Productions was shot and killed in the South Bronx.

In an attempt to break up a fight on 167th and University Avenue near the Highbridge Housing Projects in the South Bronx, Scott Sterling, known to the world as DJ Scott La Rock of the mighty Boogie Down Productions, was shot and killed, he died on the scene.

The shooting was the first of its kind in Hip Hop, with BDP being one of the main artists to usher in the “Golden Era”, it was a shock to the entire Hip Hop community to have KRS-1’s DJ shot in cold blood. Ironically, this happened during the apex of their classic debut album Criminal Minded, where Scott and Kris were posing with pistols, rifles, and no smiles. Sterling’s death fueled KRS to start the Stop The Violence Movement, which was widely publicized with the By All Means Necessary album, and the star-studded “Self Destruction” single.

RIP to Scott La Rock! He Still Lives Thru His Music!

On this date in 1996, Big Boi and Andre 3000 came together to release their second album ATLiens on R&B icons’ LA Reid and Babyface’s LaFace Records. On this album, the Southern playalistic duo expands their subject matter from just their urban tales from the hood to explorations of extraterrestrial life on Planet Earth.

Outkast’s most recognizable aspect of their creativity is their hooks, which is almost a trademark for the entire Organized Noize family, but really took root as Big Boi and Andre 3 Stacks signature sound on this album, with songs like “ATLiens” and “Elevators(Me And You)” spearheading the success of this album.

The commercial success of the album was proof of the duo’s ability to relay their morphing sounds to their listeners, with the ATLiens project selling one million copies in three months and reaching double platinum in less than seven years.

Shout out to Andre 3000, Big Boi, and the rest of the Organized Noize crew for this timeless piece of Hip Hop History!

Tommy Richman Announces New Album ‘Coyote’, Slated For Sept. 27 Release

Screenshot 2024 08 26 at 7.46.39 PM

Tommy Richman has officially announced his highly anticipated debut  album, COYOTE,  is slated for release September 27th via ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records.

The announcement of the new album release date is accompanied by his latest COYOTE visual trailer, adding to what is already shaping up to be a monumental year for Tommy. This follows the success of his singles “DEVIL IS A LIE” and “MILLION DOLLAR BABY,” both of which charted on Billboard’s Hot 100, with “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” now holding the #1 spot on Mediabase’s Top 40 and Billboard’s Pop Airplay Chart. After debuting at number 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” hit number 1 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart and Tik Tok Billboard Top 50, recently surpassed 1 Billion global streams and broke a new record as the longest running #1 song on the Tik Tok Billboard Top 50 after holding the spot for 10 weeks in a row.

Celebrated by various music outlets and critics as the song of the summer since it’s release, including #1 on TikTok’s “Songs Of The Summer” list after being the most used song on the platform, the song has also peaked as the #1 Overall Streaming Track (all genres) and the #1 Audio Global Streaming Track (all genres), and was included in former President Barack Obama’s 2024 Summer Playlist.  Last month, Tommy was also announced as one of the first three independent artists to join this year’s YouTube Foundry Program cohort.

COYOTE comes as Tommy Richman’s debut album following the record-breaking star being signed to fellow DMV-native Brent Faiyaz’s label, ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The LP contains songs that began years ago when Tommy was broke and lonely but confident in his art. In early 2024, he finalized these sketches and ideas in the desert. The rugged terrain and big skies inspired Tommy, who sees COYOTE as a thematic follow-up to his 2022 E.P., ALLIGATOR. “I’ve been building up my discography for years. I’m not a one-hit-wonder,” Tommy says —having already proven it so. COYOTE is about artistry and range. After years on the grind, the new album will close out a dominating 2024 and arrives with his first headlining tour.

RZA Gets Emotional At Ol’ Dirty Bastard Documentary Premiere

RZAODB

“The Abbott” of the Wu Tang Clan held back tears during the premiere the new Ol’ Dirty Bastard documentary A Tale of Two Dirtys.

“I’m not gonna stay for the event; I got too many emotions running through my head,” he said. “I just want to thank you guys for a great — it’s my first time seeing the documentary for the first time completed so I got a lot in my head. But good job.”

T-Boz Hospitalized For Abdominal Blockage, Cancels TLC Show In New York

Music T Boz

Reports have confirmed that T-Boz of the legendary R&B trio TLC was hospitalized due to severe abdominal pain and has been placed in ICU, forcing the group’s New York concert date to be abruptly canceled.

The group was scheduled to perform in Syracuse, NY, on Friday at the New York State Fair. Still, a half hour before showtime, the fair’s X account reported that TLC’s performance had been canceled due to T-Boz “experiencing symptoms related to food poisoning.”

A press statement shared on T-Boz’s Instagram account stated that the 54-year-old singer was experiencing “sudden and severe nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal cramps.” The statement also said she was seen by a doctor and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

“Last evening, Tionne was diagnosed with a severe abdominal blockage, necessitating the cancellation of both the Syracuse and Foxwoods performances,” read the statement. “She remains in the hospital under medical supervision but is expected to be released tomorrow. The doctor verified that this was not food poisoning, but an abdominal blockage.”

TLC’s management also confirmed that T-Boz had to stay at the hospital overnight and underwent a CT scan to determine the severity of her condition.

“TLC is committed to rescheduling the canceled shows and apologizes to all the fans, particularly those who traveled long distances to attend. The group appreciates the understanding and support,” the statement added.

According to their official website, TLC has a full schedule through October, including a concert at the Ravinia in Highland Park, Illinois, on August 31.

In 2017, T-Boz penned a memoir called A Sick Life detailing her health issues with sickle cell disease at the apex of TLC.

On this date in 1998, after her successful intro into the game with The Fugees, Lauryn Hill embarked on her solo journey and released her first solo LP entitled The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill on the Ruffhouse/Columbia imprint.

As a play on the titles of Carter G. Woodson’s The Mis-Education of the Negro and the 1972 film The Education Of Sonny Carson, Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation album fused the sounds of neo-soul, reggae, R&B and Hip Hop to create an album unlike anything similar to that which was created during the “bling” era. The 16 track classic was a mainstream hit, mainly because of the cross over appeal of singles like “Everything Is Everything”, “Doo Wop(That Thing}”, Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” and “Ex-Factor”, with production courtesy of Ms, Hill herself.

Supreme shout out to Ms, Hill for this timeless piece of Hip Hop history!
