A Mariachi Band Playing ‘Higher’ By Creed At A Rangers Game Is The Most Beautiful Thing You’ll Hear Today

Creed has gone through quite the renaissance in the last year or so. While the band was huge back in the late-90s and early-00s, it’s not unusual to hear one of their songs like “Higher” or “One Last Breath” get used as a sound on TikTok by someone who was 100 percent not alive when Creed was one of the biggest bands in the United States.

As part of the band’s renewed popularity, Creed is about to embark on a tour with a bunch of acts that were also popular back then: 3 Doors Down, Daughtry, Switchfoot, Tonic, Big Wreck, and Finger Eleven will all be involved at one point or another. And hopefully, this mariachi band that played “Higher” during Monday night’s game between the New York Mets and the Texas Rangers gets some love at one point on the tour, because this is legitimately a beautiful cover of the song.

That little musical section before the chorus is terrific — well, the whole thing is terrific, but that was my favorite part. And while it took a second for the Mets’ SNY broadcast to catch onto the performance, once they did, they loved it.

Anyway, the Mets entered Monday night’s game in Texas having won nine of their last 11 games. Grimace is involved in this run. Baseball rocks.

What seemed like what was going to be a clean two-game sweep for the Phillies against the Amazins’ across the pond turned out to be an epic closer to a longtime division rivalry taken abroad.

In what Londoners would call “squeaky hum time”, the New York Mets produced a unimaginable 6-5 comeback win over rivals the Philadelphia Phillies to even out Major League Baseball’s two-game London Series. A three run rally in the top of the ninth inning put the Mets up by two, but the Phils didn’t go out without a fight in the bottom of the ninth.

With only two outs left to get the W, right fielder Nick Castellanos breaks his bat, but hits a dribbler right in front of the plate, making quicik thinking Mets catcher Luis Torres step on the plate and fire a missile down to Pete Alonso at first, ending the game and creating the first ever 2-3 double play in MLB history.

Only seven times in AL/NL history had a game ended on a ground-ball double play to the catcher, and none was scored precisely 2-3 (catcher to first base). Since 1912, which is as far back as MLB’s data on the subject goes, the only other game-ending 2-3 double play occurred on a pop fly.

What an exciting end to a historic rivalry in The Big Smoke, giving the Mets just their second win against Philadelphia in their six games against each other in 2024. The Kings from Queens have over three months to revel in their victory until the next time they meet the Phillies, which will be on the Phils’ turf in Citizens Bank Park.

SOURCE SPORTS: NY Mets Set To Retire Darryl Strawberry’s Jersey In Citi Field One Month After Massive Heart Attack

On Saturday at Citi Field, the ceremony is already in motion to retire the jersey of one of The Amazin’ Mets’ most beloved players of all time, Darryl Strawberry. However, The Straw recently just recovered from a massive heart attacxk that he suffered back in March, but says that he’s “100%” and ready for the New York franchise to retire #18.

The L.A. native opened up to TMZ about the recent health crisis, claiming that things were so bad during the “massive” heart attack, physicians couldn’t believe that the eight time MLB All Star survived.

“My heart was pumping at 40 percent,” said Strawberry. “So, there was a lot going on. There was not a lot of blood flowing through my heart at that particular time.” His wife Tracy managed to get him to the hospital in time before the situation worsened. Straw now uses his health scare to warn others.

“We only got one shot at this life,” he said, “make it count.”

The Mets will officially hang Strawberry’s number 18 jersey in the rafters among some of Mets greatest stars on Saturday, June 1 as the Amazins host the Arizona Diamondbacks.

SOURCE SPORTS: [WATCH] Busta Rhymes Throws First Pitch In Citi Field As Mets Defeat Braves 4-3

Yesterday(May 12), Hip Hop living legend Busta Rhymes threw the ceremonial first pitch for the game between the New York Mets and the visiting Atlanta Braves at Citi Field in Queens. “The Dragon” seemed pretty confident during his warm up pitches before actually taking the mound and his above average pitch may have just been the charm as the Mets edged Atlanta in the 9th inning, winning the game 4-3.

The Mets managed to avoid a three-game sweep by Atlanta in their Mother’s Day win, due largely to a walk-off, two run homer from center fielder Brandon Nimmo in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure the win for New York. Nimmo, who left after four innings in Saturday’s 4-1 loss due to a tight right intercostal muscle, entered as a pinch runner for DJ Stewart in the seventh inning on Sunday.

The Mets have now won for just the seventh time in 19 games, while the Braves’ four-game winning streak has just ended.

Atlanta broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning when Marcell Ozuna brought in his second RBI single of the night and the Mets went down in order in the bottom of the eighth before coming back in the ninth against reliever A.J. Minter (5-3). Jeff McNeil legged out a bunt single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tomas Nido. Nimmo then hit a 3-2 pitch beyond the fence in right-center field for his second career walk-off homer for the W.
