R&B fans have already been eating well in 2024 and they’re getting another treat next month. Kehlani just took to Instagram to announce her 4th studio album. The project is called CRASH and she’s already shared the album cover. It’s a flashy shot that lives up to the album’s name showing her posing on top of a crashed car in a stunningly elaborate outfit. She also confirms that fans won’t have to wait too long to hear the record. Her caption concludes with the announcement that the project will be dropping next month on June 21.
In the comments, fans are unsurprisingly thrilled. “have you considered dropping it yesterday? pls and thanks” one impatient fan says in a highly-upvoted comment. “KEHLANIIIIIII ARE YOU KIDDING US?! this photo is literally STUNNING & I can’t wait for this songggg” another fan commented before following up a few minutes later realizing she actually announced an entire album. Some fellow artists like Russ and Maiya The Don also pulled up in the comments to share their hype for the next project. Check out the announcement post in its entirety below.
Kehlani has only dropped one single so far this year and many are expecting it to appear on the album. The track is called “After Hours” and as you’d expect it’s about seeking out some after hours love. The song clicked with fans immediately and has racked up more than 19 million streams on Spotify alone since it dropped. Kehlani has also shared some updates of a different kind with fans. Earlier this year she made waves online when she dropped a gym pic on Instagram that had fans going absolutely crazy for her abs.
What do you think of Kehalni announcing her 4th album CRASH and her first new project since 2022? Do you think she should drop a new single from the project at some point before the full thing is out? Let us know in the comment section below.
JT is still hot off of the success of her latest single “Okay,” and luckily for listeners, she has even more on the way. Yesterday, the City Girl turned solo star took to Instagram to tease her upcoming mixtape, City Cinderella. She first announced the project in March. JT shared a series of flirty photos, posing in a neon pink and green bikini top. She paired the sultry swimwear with denim shorts and a pair of light-up pleasers.
In a few other photos, JT is also seen performing onstage in New Orleans as part of her first-ever solo headlining tour. As for the album, she’s yet to confirm an official release date, though it’s expected to arrive sometime this year. Aside from her latest track, the Miami-born rapper has already given fans a taste of what’s to come with her singles “No Bars” and “Sideways.”
Last week, JT even unveiled a new extended edition of “Okay,” unleashing several fierce new bars directed at her fellow femcees. While she didn’t call out anyone by name, she recently engaged in a heated Twitter feud with Sukihana. They went at it over the OG version of the song, which some thought included a jab at the Baddies star. JT denies this, though their unhinged back and forth made it clear they’re not on good terms by any means. “To be clear h*e, this for you, you and you (p**sy),” JT rhymes. “You ain’t a threat or a f*cking goon. City Cinderella coming soon.”
Some fans have even speculated some tension between her and the other half of City Girls, Yung Miami. This was only compounded this week when the Caresha Please host left a suspicious comment on a post about JT and Sukihana’s feud. What do you think of JT’s flirty new photos? Are you looking forward to her debut solo mixtape, City Cinderella? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.
With the burgeoning Atlanta rap scene, it is extremely tough for artists to pop off and grow a comitted fanbase. Perhaps that is what Noodah05 is trying to avoid for now at least on his latest album 5 MIN OF FAME. In a recent interview with Remixd Magazine, the Georgia rapper and crooner spoke about the meaning behind this newest title in his discography. “Me getting my five minutes of fame. I feel like it’s really me letting the world in for five minutes. All I need is five minutes of fame. I’m not trying to be here too long.”
That is certainly interesting view, as most artists are looking blow up almost immediately. However, he seems to accept that he is not a superstar yet. “I feel like I’m a hidden gem. It don’t make me mad, I embrace it, Noodah05 said. “It’s like ‘we gatekeeping him, only because he so hard.’ You feel me? I understand it a lil bit from a fan standpoint.”
On 5 MIN OF FAME, Noodah05 is bringing a nice blend of melodic and hard-hitting trunk knockers across the tight 13-song project. This is his follow-up to Bigger Now, which dropped in late September of 2023. The 4PF (Lil Baby’s label) signee decided to opt against including features, perhaps to feed into that 5 MIN OF FAME mentality of letting people only here him for a short time. However, he did mention that it was hard to not include any features. Regardless, Noodah05 was stoked to be getting this out. “This time around I’m excited. I’m waiting to see everybody reaction.” We are indeed excited for him and for what will be coming down the pipeline because this tape is a solid listen.
What are your thoughts on this brand-new album 5 MIN OF FAME by Noodah05? What tracks have you been gravitating toward? Do you think any of the songs should have had a feature? Where do you rank this project amongst the rest of his discography? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Noodah05. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.
Madlib has one of the varied careers in all of hip-hop. He’s so versatile, in fact, that much of his music doesn’t even fit within the genre’s constraints. The thing that makes him a hall of fame producer, though, is his ability to bring the best out of rappers. Madvillainy is considered by many to be the high water mark for MF Doom, and the same goes for Pinata and Freddie Gibbs. Madlib knows how to make them sound immaculate, which is why fans are so excited for his reunion with the latter.
Madlib’s eccentric production and Freddie Gibbs’ gruff delivery has made magic twice over. Pinata and Bandana are as critically acclaimed as hip-hop albums can be. Pinata, in particular, is so celebrated that the duo recently put on shows to commemorate its tenth anniversary. Madlib and Gibbs (aka MadGibbs) were at New York City’s Rooftop on May 11, and they took the opportunity to drop a bombshell on those who were attending. The short and long of it is that MadGibbs has another album in the works. The title will follow the single word ending in “A” template of the first two.
Madlib was the one who made the official announcement. At first it seemed like he was just hyping up the crowd, but he was actually hyping up Montana. “Y’all ready for Freddie Gibbs?,” he asked the crowd. ‘[I’m] about to drop this live sh*t on y’all. Montana up next.” The producer didn’t offer a release date, but given how quickly him and Gibbs work, fans won’t have to wait long. It’s been five years since the release of Bandana, and in that time, both artists have dropped multiple albums.
The confirmation of Montana is great news for Gibbs fans, in particular. The rapper has spoken at length about the impact that Madlib has had on his music. He told GQ that he was initially reluctant to spit over such wild production, but it’s made him better. “It definitely made me a better lyricist because I didn’t really want to rap on those kinds of beats,” he noted. “I was like, alright, this is about to be the basis of all of this sh*t. Because it sounded like some Wu-Tang sh*t.” We hope the new album is more of the same.
Kamaiyah isn’t here to be complacent. The Oakland rapper drops multiple times a year because she wants to hone her craft and ensure that fans are up to date with her life. It’s worked wonders. She’s amassed a loyal fanbase over the last decade, and her last album, Another Summer Night, earned positive reviews from critics. Kamaiyah looks to keep the winning streak going strong with her new album, Figuring Out My Emotions.
Figuring Out My Emotions is a more intimate collection of songs than its predecessor, as the title might suggest. The album is executive produced by Kamaiyah, and the lead single, “No Pressure,” delves into more serious subject matter while maintaining a slick, Bay Area sound. The rapper confirmed the rest of the album will drop on Friday, May 17. She also dropped off the artwork and tracklist. The former is right in line with the chilled-out vibe of the aforementioned single. Kamaiyah lays down on a dock near a body of water. No text or logos. Just an artist and the ocean.
The tracklist is impressively brief. Another Summer Night was a sprawling album with 17 songs, but Figuring Out My Emotions comes in at a tight eight. There are no listed features on the album. That being said, rap artists like to hide their features until the fans get a chance to listen. Kamaiyah usually reserves a spot for West Coast peers like 03 Greedo or Jay Worthy (both of whom appeared on Another Summer Night).
Kamaiyah explained her approach to dropping during a recent interview with KQED. “It’s not the ’90s or early 2000s, like, nobody is catching a hit that lasts for a f*cking year anymore,” she asserted. “People’s attention spans are so short. If you got the attention, keep it. And only way you keep it is more sh*t in their face. It’s got to be organic.”
Tha Dogg Pound was a legendary part of Death Row Records. While they lacked the crossover success of 2Pac or Dr. Dre, the duo anchored the label’s catalog with hits like “Let’s Play House” and “New York, New York.” The latter was a diss song with a Snoop Dogg chorus. The collab led to the formation of the DPGC, or Dogg Pound Gangsta Clicc, which has dropped multiple albums over the last three decades. Snoop Dogg thought DPGC was done a few years back, but personal events led to a reunion that he’s subsequently been grateful for.
Snoop Dogg talked about the Dogg Pound reunion during a recent appearance on Home Grown Radio. The rapper admitted that he’d been on the outs with Dogg Pound co-founder Daz Dillinger, and therefore reluctant to work with him. It’s worth noting that Snoop and Daz are cousins, so the rift went beyond the studio. It was ultimately the death of Snoop’s brother, Bing Worthington, that led to the two men setting their issues aside. “My little brother had passed away,” the rapper said. “And one thing about my little brother is he loved the f*ck outta Daz. He loved us together.”
The Death Of Snoop Dogg’s Brother Inspired The Reunion
Snoop Dogg decided that he wanted to honor Bing by putting out new music as a family. “I started calling family members,” he noted. “I reached out them, I was like ‘Y’all get Daz’. Me and him get on the line, we communicate, and I’m like ‘Come over and see me.’” Snoop and Daz reconciled, and then called Dogg Pound’s other co-founder, Kurupt. One thing led to another, and suddenly, the group was making music again. The concept of reconciliation informed the title of the new album, W.A.W.G., which stands for We All We Got.
The lead single for the album addressed the issues that Dogg Pound’s members have been going through. It also set the record straight on their future plans. Namely, that they aren’t going anywhere. “Smoke Up” sees Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger and Kurupt come together as a unified force. “F*ck what you heard,” Snoop raps. “Somebody said the Dogg Pound broke up/ Shut yo b*tch a*s up, n**ga, now smoke up.” W.A.W.G. is due out May 31.
Back in 2023, fans were finally hoping for Cardi B’s long-awaited second studio album. Her debut Invasion of Privacy dropped back in 2018 and contained absolute smash hits like “I Like It,” “Bodak Yellow,” and “Bartier Cardi.” The follow-up seemed like it could be on the way soon when a mysterious Instagram account popped up seeming to tease the album. But months went by with no new material aside from a featured verse here and there. Eventually Cardi confirmed to her fans that no new album was dropping in 2023.
This year was very different right out of the gate. Cardi has already dropped two singles of her own in 2024 “Like What (Freestyle” and “Enough (Miami).” The latter has over 30 million streams on Spotify alone and has been hovering on the Hot 100 ever since it dropped back in March. That had fans hyped for a forthcoming project, one that many assumed would be arriving this year. But in a recent tweet Cardi may have revealed that 2024 also won’t be the year her follow-up finally drops. Check out what she had to say about an upcoming new album below.
The interactions began when a fan suggested that Cardi could take some time away from social media as her interactions with fans aren’t being appreciated enough. The rapper seems to agree and in a now deleted quote tweet dropped some tough news for fans. “anyway NO new album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year” she said in the middle of a post that also addressed her fan interactions and upcoming features. That means fans who have been holding out for 8 years may have to hold on even longer to hear a new project from Cardi.
What do you think of Cardi B deciding to take the rest of 2024 off from putting out a new album and delaying it until next year? Do you think the decision was entirely her own or had to do with her label? Let us know in the comment section below.
Last month, PARTYNEXTDOOR released his new album P4. It’s the first new album the OVO R&B star has dropped since 2020 when he released PARTYMOBILE. It’s the first new entry in his self-titled series in 8 years since the 3rd edition dropped in 2016. For the new album he chose to go with no features and handles the entire 14-song tracklist on his own. That’s why it’s no surprise that it was one of his most personal albums yet. Earlier this week PND took to Twitter to explain some of the motivation behind various songs on the new album.
“This album was full of self reflection, being a good guy, tryna to stick to my mother’s morals while having my way for so long, being in lust, being in love & being heartbroken, dealing with friends and family passing away. being empathetic but revengeful & never looking back” the R&B singer said in a recent tweet. In the replies, fans debate which track from the new album is their favorite. The new record has received rave reviews from R&B fans in the weeks since it dropped. Check out the tweet he made explaining the motivation behind his new music below.
Just a few days after P4 dropped, PND’s fans got even more great news. He announced the “Sorry I’m Outside” tour dates revealing where he’ll be playing shows later this year. He’s already played a few festivals like Rolling Loud Los Angeles earlier this year. But there’s still plenty of deep cuts remaining on the album that haven’t had their live debuts yet. Tickets for the tour have already gone on sale with fans once again taking to social media to share their excitement for the upcoming shows.
What do you think of the details PARTYNEXTDOOR shared about what inspired him while writing his new album? Which of the songs on the album have been your favorite since it dropped? Let us know in the comment section below.
Chief Keef may be the youngest legend in hip-hop history. After his first mixtape at 14 and becoming a Chicago superstar by 16, the breadth and weight of his influence and impact became immediately clear by the time Almighty So dropped in 2013. Few rappers can claim this achievement in such a short amount of time, and with a lot of legal controversy and trouble along the way, this pioneer spirit only became more apparent over time. While this run didn’t result in the strongest string of projects due to its prolific nature, it kept Keef’s identity at the forefront, birthed classic full-lengths, and inspired realms beyond just drill, trap, and rage. Now that he’s as reflective on his legacy as he is committed to further planting it, this unique and youthful position made a diamond out of the rough.
Moreover, Almighty So 2‘s been in the works for years, and with delay after delay, many fans held it in the mythical regard of a Whole Lotta Red or ASTROWORLD. Fortunately, it was so worth the wait. This is Chief Keef’s most upfront, immediate, and instantly gratifying album in a long time, and revamps the original installment’s often woozy and genre-fusing formulas with a more direct, boisterous, and consistent approach. Despite that, reflections on loyalty, partnership, family, and self-worth don’t take the bite out of its relentless runtime and still fit well. Overall, it feels like we’re right back in 2012 with today’s knowledge, even before the first Almighty So, and we say that in the best way possible.
The most apparent way in which Chief Keef achieves this throwback reimagining is through the aggressive, layered, well-structured, and expansive beats on Almighty So 2. Snares and kicks don’t just hit; they drill… pardon the pun. On the opening tracks alone, “Almighty (Intro)” and “Neph Nem” with Ballout and G Herbo, their triplet sequencing beats the instrumentals into the ground, paired with dramatic and grandiose samples like “O Fortuna.” Rather than sticking to a particular style of drill or trap, he mixes them together and focuses on developing sample usage to its fullest potential for maximum enjoyment. For example, multiple elements of Nancy Wilson’s “Streetrunner” on “Runner” provide an anticipatory intro, a catchy refrain, and orchestral instrumentation throughout the cut.
Still, some moments here take more of a breather, such as the breezy “Drifting Away” with a West Coast/Midwest-inspired bounce, and the piano worship with a similar rhythmic treatment on “Prince Charming.” The sheer aggression throughout most of the tracklist doesn’t lose its luster because of how uncompromised yet controlled it comes across. 16 tracks add up to an hour of runtime thanks to Chief Keef’s hard work at giving songs proper transitions, movements, and third verses, and the vividness of the punchy production keeps you engaged all throughout. There are even some slight dips into rage on “Never Fly Here” with Quavo and mixes between guitar-backed calmness and operatic moshpits on “Jesus” with Lil Gnar, meaning that the volatile peaks always have earned and fulfilling build-up. Above all, this will hook you the most with Almighty So 2 on the first listen.
But if the production hooks you, Chief Keef is the reason you stick around. In a rap world full of hedonistic writing, flexing, and evocative phrasing, Sosa is able to make the best out of his production with lines that are equally in-your-face while still feeling grounded. He calls himself a wolf howling at the moon on “Grape Trees,” flaunts “blue cheese” and a “thousand islands” on “Tony Montana Flow,” and is able to perfectly mix the glamorous with the gritty (or even the mundane) through his bars. “Six hundred for the shoes that’s on top of my bunions, n***a / Yellow truck, it’s Funyuns, n***a, it just smell like onions, n***a,” the Chicago icon raps on “Banded Up.” The lyricism is often confrontational, almost always funny, sometimes clever, but most importantly, never boring.
While the flows lock you in, Chief Keef is also able to provide a lot of variety through his deliveries on equally combative instrumentals. In other words, even if a song is going hard, there are many deliberate choices to either scream alongside it or balance it out with a calmer tone, such as most of “Too Trim.” But there is also some topical balance here, even if it mostly appears towards the end of Almighty So 2. The track “Treat Myself,” for example, is all about the Glo Gang boss’ self-worth, and how he evades roads to self-deprecation by wanting to push himself to his fullest potential. “Take a look up in the mirror, I just wanna squeeze myself / I done been through so much smoke to where I couldn’t even see myself / I’ll never need a b***h, but I’ma always need mysеlf.”
Elsewhere, Chief Keef equally reflects on the hard times it took for him to get here and remarks on his current success and what’s next for him. “Believe” has a killer and nostalgic sample flip, honors his late grandmother, processes the horrible exposures and actions that he experienced and perpetrated as a young man due to his circumstances, and even promises himself to be a better father to his daughter. While much of Almighty So 2 delivers these themes as a staunch retort against these evils, there’s plenty of levity and blunt honesty throughout, no matter how it’s delivered. The fact that each song is relatively long makes the rollercoaster ride much more enjoyable from track to track than most “one-note” albums. It’s up to you to live in the moment and then look back on what deeper truths the album holds.
What’s more, is that Chief Keef does most of this solo. He handles almost every song’s production except one; additional production assistants include Mike WiLL Made-It, Young Malcolm, SantanaStar Beats, and more. On the other hand, features from Sexyy Red, Tierra Whack, and the like match Sosa’s energy like a glove, whether for their unbridled bravado, fiery performances, or unflinching confidence. Yet they don’t overwhelm him at any point, and their inclusions don’t bloat Almighty So 2. Other inclusions like Michael Blackson on the “Jesus Skit” provide a lot of life and character to the album, whereas more traditional cuts like “1,2,3” continue the prominent horn picks and overall larger-than-life persona that this record paints. There’s just enough novelty sprinkled between what we love Chief the most for, and few full-lengths in his catalog achieve that balance as well as this.
That push-and-pull is perhaps best exemplified on the closing track, “I’m Tryna Sleep.” Tender pianos and vocal samples, a combative delivery, hard-hitting percussion, and themes of partnership and fearless street confrontation are a microcosm of what Chief Keef was able to achieve on Almighty So 2. It’s a classic all the way for Sosa fans with its dramatic and magnanimous presentation. He taps into what he influenced in contemporary hip-hop and contains the maturely simple and hedonistically loyal reflections of a man who did not seem to change at all with the fame. The prolific catalog will prove that in one way, but it’s only through meeting Keef on his own terms with his writing that you’ll see this God-fearing, authentic, and unstoppable drive for yourself.
The 28-year-old’s been off the lean for a couple of months now, and there’s definitely a clarity to the production, songwriting, and rapping performance here that could reinforce that personal achievement. But more importantly, it speaks to his self-consciousness and evolution as an artist: how he sees his legacy, his talents, and the authenticity of his perspective. It’s not about loving being high, hating being sober, or the other way around. Like many amazing MCs before and after him, Chief Keef recaptured what made him so special before the first Almighty So with all the experience and lessons that he’s collected since. Almighty So 2 is a true return to form in that regard and one that you might not like if you didn’t like Sosa to begin with. But he’s a Chicago champion who’s stuck to his guns and continues to evolve and influence the game; why wouldn’t you?
NAV is an artist who has been instrumental to the Toronto sound. Overall, he came up producing for huge artists such as Drake. However, he was eventually signed to The Weeknd’s XO imprint, and he has not looked back since. During the late 2010s and even the early 2020s, he was a prolific artist of sorts. He was always coming through with new albums and singles, while also being featured on big albums. That said, as of late, he has taken a bit of a hiatus, much to the chagrin of all of his supporters.
Well, it appears as though NAV is ready to make his comeback. Today, the artist took to YouTube with a brand-new album trailer. This new project is called On My Way 2 Rexdale which is a reference to where he grew up. Throughout this trailer, we get some snippets of songs that will be found throughout the album. Moreover, there are even some clues as to which artists will be featured. The most obvious clues involve Future, Don Toliver, and even Playboi Carti.
At this time, there is no release date for the project. Instead, it has been teased for a Summer release. Overall, that is a great time to drop as people are going to want summer anthems. NAV’s melodic stylings have always suited that time of year, especially if we are getting ourselves an upbeat album. No matter what, this should be an interesting listen. After being gone for so long, we are definitely in for a new sound and a revitalized NAV.
Let us know what you think of this upcoming NAV album, in the comments section down below. Are you excited for him to come out with a new full-length LP? What kind of features do you think will be found throughout the project? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.
