Normani Shares Seductive Teaser For Long-Awaited Debut Album “Dopamine”

Normani has been singing for over a decade now and in that time she is yet to release a debut studio album. That doesn’t mean she hasn’t been a part of studio projects in the past. She began her career in the girl group Fifth Harmony alongside future superstar Camila Cabello. Camila left the group and got a jump start on her solo career but many fans have tapped Normani as the next breakout star from the group for years. She’s already got some hits under her belt like “Love Lies” and “Dancing With A Stranger.”

After years of teases towards an eventual debut album fans finally know when they’ll be able to hear the project. She officially announced last month that her debut album Dopamine was on the way soon. The album’s official release date is June 14 and fans have already got a single teasing towards the record. Alongside the announcement of the record’s release date she also released her new song “1:59.” The song features Gunna and has racked up more than 6 million streams on Spotify alone in the months since it was released. Now she’s once again teasing towards her new album. Check out the video she shared below.

Normani’s Spicy Teaser For Her New Album

Earlier this week, Normani shared the “first dose” of Dopamine. That came in the form of a trailer for the album where she reminds fans just how stunning she can be. In the sensual footage she speaks, dances, and looks seductive throughout. The video features references to “1:59,” the singles that dropped last month. The numbers pop up in the clip and in one shot she straddles the very same rocket from the album cover.

What do you think of Normani getting ultra-sexy in the teaser for her new album Dopamine? Are you looking forward to hearing her long-awaited debut album when it drops next month? Let us know in the comment section below.

Mike Shabb Delivers A Moody Triumph With SEWASIDE III Album

Mike Shabb has been grinding. The Montreal rapper has dropped eight projects in the last four years, including the first two installments in the SEWASIDE series. These releases tucked flashes of brilliance into hazy and often unfinished song ideas. Shabb’s talent was undeniable, but it still felt a step or two away from completely smoothing out. Fortunately, Mike Shabb has made up ground on SEWASIDE III. The latest installment is a step up in every conceivable way.

The first song on the album, “Intro” sets an appropriately moody tone. There’s a quiet confidence in the rapper’s delivery reminiscent of mixtape-era Joey Bada$$. It helps, of course, that the instrumental is a jazzy, propulsive earworm. The instrumentals on SEWASIDE III are spectacular throughout, with more of an emphasis on off-kilter tempos and irregular vocal chops. They are the kind of musical beds that most rappers would have a hard time riding, and yet, they bring out the best in Mike Shabb. The most obvious example of his verbal dexterity is on the album cut “Free Jazz,” where he skates over a beat that sounds like its being improvised on the spot.

Mike Shabb Leans Into Jazzy Instrumentals

That’s not to say that Mike Shabb sidesteps boom-bap entirely. “We Live In Montreal” and “Free Cars” are grimy street tales punctuated by energetic backing vocals. The latter benefits from a scene-stealing guest verse by ANKHLEJOHN. All the features on SEWASIDE III are excellent, which is gives it a leg up over its predecessors. Da$h skates over the stuttering “Free YSL”, while Boldy James sounds right at home on the slow-burn “Big Piranhas.” Shabb’s ability to secure artists of this caliber is a testament to both his buzz and his lyrical talent. People like Da$h and Boldy wouldn’t bother if the kid didn’t have a ton of talent.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album SEWASIDE III by Mike Shabb? Does the Montreal rapper deliver with his latest installment? What is your favorite song and why? Which guest verse stole the show? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Danny Brown Reveals He’s Working On A New Solo Album

Danny Brown had a monstrous 2023. The rapper released his sixth studio album, Quaranta, to universal praise. He also dropped the feature-length collab Scaring the Hoes with JPEGMafia. The joint album took over the internet, and went on to become the most beloved release of both of their careers. Hip-hop has been waiting to see what Brown would do next, and he finally confirmed that he was back in the studio during a May 22 concert.

Danny Brown put on electric show at the Forum Kentish Town in London. The Detroit rapper took fans through a set list of some of his greatest hits, but the real takeaway from the show was that he is working on his next solo album. “What I will say,” he told the crowd. “I am working on my new album right now, so, as soon as I’m done with that sh*t, I’ll be right back here with you motherf*ckers.” The crowd went nuts over the news. Brown was encouraged by the response, and shared more information about the writing process.

Danny Brown Claimed To Be Writing Every Night

“Every night after the show I’m in my hotel room,” he explained. “I’m writing new songs every night. I’m not f*cking with these b*tches no more.” The last line was said in a sardonic tone, but it still managed to get cheers from the members of the audience. To be fair to Danny Brown, he has taken a much healthier approach to making music that he did a decade prior. The rapper talked about the transition from heavy drug use to sober songwriting during a 2023 interview with NPR. “Once I got clean, it was like, no, that’s just you anyway,” he said, admitting to a fear of being a worse writer once clean. “I’m better than ever. It just took some time for me to get back to being me again.”

The mature outlook has manifested in his music. Quaranta is considered to be Danny Brown’s most mature effort to date, and he attributed much of it to living habits. “Now, me being older, I just want to be happy,” he reasoned. “Not doing sh*t that kills me, but sh*t that makes me [feel] live. And music is one of those things that I feel like that keeps me young. And just the hip-hop lifestyle in general. You don’t gotta be f* up to live the hip-hop lifestyle.” If Scaring the Hoes is anything to go by, we’d say Brown hasn’t lost any of his musical edge.

9th Wonder Teases Upcoming Collab Album With Larry June

9th Wonder knows how to get the best out of rappers. He codified the sound of Little Brother in the 2000s, before going on to make classic joint albums with the likes of Talib Kweli, Skyzoo and Murs. His sample chops are less eccentric than, say, Madlib, but he displays unparalleled talent when it comes to bringing out the soulfulness of his collaborators on record. This is what makes the prospect of a 9th and Larry June tape so exciting.

9th Wonder was fielding questions from fans on May 20, when one fan noted how good a collaboration with Larry June would sound. “We need a @9thwonder and @LarryJuneTFM project,” they tweeted. 9th responded to the fan by letting him know that the process of making the project were already underway. “I’ve sent him beats,” 9th Wonder tweeted back. “About a 20 piece.” This would be an exciting change for the producer, given that he’s worked with the same few artists for most of the 2020s.

9th Wonder Recently Sent Larry June A Beats Pack

He linked up with Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper and Kamasi Washington for the acclaimed Dinner Party album in 2020. He also produced multiple projects for The Musalini and Hus KingPin. 9th linking up with Larry June would be a distinct shift, given how June’s relaxed flow contrasts with the aggression of both Musalini and Hus. June, meanwhile, has been on an excellent run of joint albums with iconic producers. He worked with Cardo, Alchemist and Harry Fraud among countless others.

As he told Complex, though, he wants to continue to change up his instrumental palate. “I’ve worked with a lot of producers that have big presences like that,” he noted. The attention to detail makes sense, given that June started off as a producer himself.

“I like to create a sound that I can always come back to,” June added. “If you listen to my catalogue, you will hear different pockets on different tapes. Because I’m bringing my world into their world because it’s a collaborative project.” The rapper likened the process to cooking. “It’s just one rapper, one producer, so it’s like we’re creating a pasta.” Hopefully we will get the 9th Wonder and Larry June pasta soon.

Don Toliver Announces “Hardstone Psycho” Release Date, Unveils Cover Art

Today, Don Toliver unleashed yet another new single set to appear on his upcoming fourth studio album, Hardstone Psycho. The performer enlisted the help of Charlie Wilson and Cash Cobain for “Attitude,” giving listeners a taste of what’s to come. The lively track arrived alongside some exciting news, an official release date for Hardstone Psycho as well as the project’s motorcycle club-themed cover art.

The album is scheduled to arrive on June 14 via Cactus Jack/Atlantic. As for the cover art, Toliver is seen posing in an edgy leather fit, holding up a large flag next to a motorcycle. His upcoming release will follow 2023’s Love Sick.

Hardstone Psycho Will Arrive On June 14

Of course, fans can’t wait to hear what else Don Toliver has to offer on his upcoming album, though this isn’t the first time they’ve gotten a glimpse of what to expect. Back in February, the hitmaker uncovered “Bandit,” setting the stage for the biker-inspired project with the song’s accompanying music video. The video also featured Toliver’s partner Kali Uchis, with whom he welcomed his first child in March. The child later appeared in his next music video for “Deep In The Water.”

Don Toliver has certainly had some exciting developments in both his personal and professional life as of late. It hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the Houston-born artist, however. Last month, he was pulled over and cited under suspicion of a DUI. He was able to avoid going to jail, instead getting turned over to the individual who was in the vehicle with him at the time of the citation. Are you looking forward to hearing Don Toliver’s upcoming album, Hardstone Psycho? How do you feel about the project’s cover art? How do you like his new song with Charlie Wilson and Cash Cobain? Proof’s Son Playfully Warns Eminem About Dropping On The Same Day As Him

It goes without saying that Eminem is on good terms with the son of his late close friend Proof, but evidently, that doesn’t mean they don’t take part in a bit of friendly competition. Earlier this week, Proof’s son Nasaan took to Twitter/X to jokingly warn Eminem about dropping the same day as him. Eminem had just teased the release date for some new music on Instagram, hinting that something big is coming soon.

This led many to believe the first single from his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), will arrive on May 31. This is the same day Nasaan’s debut album, Error 404, is scheduled for release. Nasaan’s offering will feature the likes of Royce Da 5’9″, BabyTron, Icewear Vezzo, and more. He confirmed the release date earlier this month.

Nasaan Urges Eminem To Rethink His Release Date

“@Eminem dropping the same day as me?” Nasaan wrote yesterday (May 21). “I wouldn’t do that if i was you, UNLESSSS you wanna get out sold OG.” He made it clear he was only joking, following his Tweet with another asking fans to pre-save Error 404. Eminem has yet to respond, though it’s apparent that he’s been nothing but supportive of the young rapper’s musical journey thus far.

Back in 2021, Nasaan opened up about some of the encouragement he received from the Detroit icon in a Tweet. “So cr*zy cuz I feel old af (22) and get mad I’m not a megastar but then I’ll talk to Em and he’ll be like, ‘Man, I wish I was where you were when I was your age or that advance[d] musically. Sh*t makes me feel a lottttttttt better,” he wrote. What do you think of Proof’s son Nasaan giving Eminem a friendly warning about dropping the same day as him? Kaytranada Announces New Album “Timeless” Coming Soon

Fans have been waiting for a new project from KAYTRANADA for a while now. The DJ and producer hasn’t gone anywhere in the years since his last studio album, 2019’s Bubba. He dropped a new EP called “Intimidated” back in 2021 which featured appearances from H.E.R., Thundercat, and Mach-Hommy. Last year, he teamed up with Portland rapper Amine for an entire collaborative album called KAYTRAMINE. That album also had an impressive feature list including Snoop Dogg, Freddie Gibbs, Amaarae, Big Sean, and Pharrell.

GloRilla Makes A Bold Claim About What Her Project Can Do For Fans

Last month GloRilla dropped her new mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang. It’s her second official project following the Anyways, Life’s Great… EP that dropped in late 2022. The new project was led off by two singles, both of which have been pretty successful. The first of the bunch was “Yeah Glo!” which grabbed some pretty notable cosigns from celebs like LeBron James. The song is still sitting inside the top 30 of the Hot 100 this week and has over 60 million streams on Spotify.

The second single was a high-profile crossover with Megan Thee Stallion. The two intense MCs teamed up for the song “Wanna Be” which is off to just as hot of a start as its predecessor. The track impressively debuted in the top 20 of the Hot 100 peaking at number 11. It’s also still hovering on the chart inside the top 50 this week. The album itself also unsurprisingly performed well landing in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 and sticking on the chart ever since its release. That hasn’t stopped Glo from continuing to promote the record, including making a hilarious claim in a recent tweet. Check out what she had to say below.

Glo herself caught the tweet and seemed to confirm that it was an intentional choice on her part. “My mixtape literally will make yo ass grow I seen it with my own two eyes” she said in a quote tweet reply. That post sparked even more responses from fans about what kinds of gains the record was helping them achieve.

Juicy J Comes Out Of Nowhere To Drop Off New LP “Mental Trillness 2”

When you think of Memphis, Tennessee hip-hop legends, Juicy J is almost always going to be one of the first names to come to mind. It makes sense because there may not be a more influential voice in that corner of rap than him. He may not be at the peak of his powers to some, but you can always rely on him to deliver some rock-solid tracks, even in the “twilight” of his career. In fact, Juicy J is doing just that on this latest record, Mental Trillness 2.

This is a follow-up to the original title, which hit streaming platforms back at the end of March in 2023. It is also the first project for Juicy J since then. The “Bandz A Make Her Dance” MC tapped a few features for Mental Trillness 2. Those names include the equally energetic Sukihana, as well as Xavier Wulf, idontknowjeffery, and Project Pat.

Listen To Mental Trillness 2 By Juicy J

Across this tape, Juicy J brings his trademark style, which is one of street grit, braggadocio, and raunchiness. One of the best moments in our opinion is the opening cut “Serenity.” Juicy usually does not rap over calming instrumentals, but this angelic track is definitely a highlight. Overall, this is a solid outing from the veteran, and we can now check off one out seven albums to drop in 2024.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album Mental Trillness 2 by Juicy J? Which songs are you gravitating toward the most right now? Who had the strongest feature on the tape? Is this one of his best projects of his career, why or why not? Do you prefer the sequel over the original?
