Denver Nuggets Win 2023 NBA Finals, Their First In Franchise History

This year’s NBA Finals, as chaotic as they surely were for many fans, brought the league a lot of standout moments and great displays of basketball. Of the entire season, though, few will stack up to a 47-year franchise reaching (and winning) their first title in history. The Denver Nuggets, composed of Nikola Jokić, Jamal Murray, and many other great players, just beat the Miami Heat in the fifth game of their series in their home of Colorado. Undeniably, it was quite the nail-biting affair as both teams fought hard in what ended up being just a five-point difference. It’s always bittersweet to see the season come to a close, but it’s also amazing to see such milestones for such hard-working teams.

Of course, the series wouldn’t have been complete without the amazing skills of The Joker. Jokić won the Bill Russell Finals Most Valuable Player trophy. It’s also the first award that was given to a Finals MVP after Russell’s passing, and as league commissioner Adam Silver said, it’s fitting that it was to a center. In addition, plenty of flowers showered upon Jamal Murray, who just two years prior was barely able to walk.

Denver Nuggets Earns Its First NBA Title In History

On the other hand, the Miami Heat proved as the 2023 Eastern Champions that they wouldn’t go down without a fight. Jimmy Butler nabbed some incredible clutch threes throughout the game and it was overall a hard-fought battle. Both teams showed each other a lot of respect throughout the series, as misleading as the final 4-1 series may seem. Considering that they were an eighth seed in the post-season, their run all the way to the Finals was truly remarkable as well. Most importantly for fans, it was an overall great display of the game, and certainly an emotive moment for the Denver Nuggets.

Now that they nabbed their first Finals trophy in franchise history, it will be interesting to see how the next season plays out. Amid rumors that LeBron James is considering retirement and other massive shifts in the association, the guesses and predictions will flood in quick. For now, though, it would be a special moment to see any team win after a fantastic game, so congratulations are due to the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat. That said, some fans are still hoping for a miracle, all while Herro has continued to heal.

Prior to every single game, Tyler Herro has been listed as doubtful to play. Regardless, he has been participating in more warm-ups, which has led to quite a bit of optimism. For the most part, Miami Heat fans had become accustomed to the idea that he would never become available. Now, however, prayers have reportedly been answered. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Herro was upgraded to questionable. Moreover, Herro has made it clear that he has every intention of playing tonight.

This game in Denver is going to be a win-or-go-home scenario. Consequently, we don’t foresee Tyler Herro starting this game. Instead, he will probably end up coming off the bench in a limited role. Either way, this is great news for the Heat, and could be the boost they need to force a Game 6 on home soil. Kevin Love Welcomes New Baby Ahead of Game 5 of NBA Finals

Kevin Love, forward of the Miami HEAT, has a reason to celebrate despite his team being down 3-1 in the NBA Finals. Love is welcoming a new baby.

Kevin Love missed the team flight to Denver for Game 5 as he stayed with his wife, Kate Bock, as they became parents. ESPN notes Love later joined the team for a film session and more on Sunday. Love plans to play in Game 5.

“Definitely need to get some rest now, get some sleep,” Love said. “Everybody’s happy and healthy.”

Game 5 is Monday Night.

There have been a lot of famous faces present at the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat, who hosted Games 3 and 4 of the series, have many famous fans. These fans include Gabrielle Union, John Legend, Serena Williams, Rick Ross, Kevin Hart, and Flo Rida to name a few. The Denver Nuggets are appearing in their first-ever NBA Finals. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat return after reaching the Finals in 2020. However, the Het are looking for their first NBA title since 2013.

While Lil Wayne is known as a diehard Lakers fan, few people can stay away from the siren song of the NBA Finals. It’s unclear who, if anyone, he is rooting for in the series but he has spotted courtside at Game 4 in Miami. After all, the Nuggets swept his beloved Purple and Gold in the Conference Finals. Furthermore, he was also spotted at Game Two of the Finals in Denver. Moreover, Wayne linked up with a couple of famous faces while he was at the game.

“Joker ain’t no joke!” someone yells as Lil Wayne rolls up to Jokić. Wayne can be heard saying “you feel me?” before their conversation is lost in the noise of the crowd. Jokić had 23 points and 12 rebounds in Denver’s 108-95 win to take a 3-1 lead as the series heads back to Denver for what could be the series-deciding Game 5. Jokić has been absolutely dominant throughout the playoffs and is the current favorite to win Finals MVP. However, he wasn’t the only famous face that Wayne encountered.

Wayne also stopped for a picture with NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky, who remains the NHL’s all-time leader in points, goals, and many other categories, shared the image to Instagram. “2 Wayne’s” read the caption as Gretzky towers over Wayne. Conor McGregor Sends Heat Mascot To The E.R. After Punching Him At Game 4

Conor McGregor sent the employee who was playing the Miami Heat mascot, “Burnie,” to the hospital during Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night. The former UFC champion punched the mascot during a skit for the halftime show.

The bit was orchestrated to promote McGregor’s new pain relief spray, which he used on the Mascot after punching him twice. The punches, however, ended up doing serious damage to the man in the Burnie suit. The Heat confirmed that the employee was actually knocked out and hospitalized after the punch. The Athletic reports that the man is doing okay and has since been released with pain medication. McGregor has yet to comment on the situation.

Fans shared plenty of laughs on social media in response to the skit. “That mascot had nudes of his wife or something because that 2nd shot was anger for no reason,” one user tweeted. Another shared a clip from Scarface with the caption, “Mascot talking to his lawyers about to take McGregor to the cleaners.” Others expressed concern for the mascot’s health once news broke that he was actually injured.

McGregor hasn’t fought inside the octagon since injuring his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. His most recent win came in January 2020 against Donald Cerrone. Check out his two punches on the Heat’s mascot in the clip below.

Denver Nuggets Take Finals Lead Behind Historic Performances

The NBA Finals have already produced plenty of excitement. The Nuggets dominated Game 1 at home. Nikola Jokić led a dominant blowout with yet another triple-double. However, despite Jokić dropping 41 points, the Heat were able to steal a tight Game 2. Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Gabe Vincent were able to help the Heat outlast the Western Conference giants. This led to a hilarious moment where Butler mooned Adebayo at the post-game press conference.

As the series moved to Miami, there were a lot of variables in the air. Many pundits believed that the Heat had finally figured out how to defend Jokić. Furthermore, there was speculation that the Heat simply had the deeper starting roster, with the Nuggets heavily relying on Jokić and Jamal Murray. However, it would all be settled on the court, with the series lead up for grabs. After stealing a game on the road, it was the perfect opportunity for the Heat to take control of the series.

Jokić And Murray Headline Historic Night

Miami took a slim, early lead in the first quarter before the Nuggets battled back to end the first quarter tied at 24. However, Denver began to pull away in the second quarter and entered the half up five, 53-48. Jokić already had a double-double at the half, with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Nuggets pushed their momentum in the third quarter, extending their lead to 14 entering the final period. The Heat never found a way back into the game and Denver retook the lead in the Finals with a 109-94 victory.

Murray led all scorers with 34 points, adding 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Alongside him was Jokić, who put a 32-point triple-double with 21 rebounds and 10 assists. It made them the first players in NBA history to record 30-point triple-doubles in the same game. Furthermore, they became the first teammates to each record 30 points and 10 assists in the same game since Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter in 1992. Elsewhere, Jokić was making individual history by recording the first 30-20-10 game in NBA Finals history. Furthermore, it’s just the third 30-20-10 game in playoff history after Kareem and Wilt. There is no doubting the will of Jimmy Butler. The All-Star swingman is currently entrenched in a battle with the Denver Nuggets for the NBA Title. If he wins, he reveals it would mean “everything” to him.

In a conversation with ESPN, Butler said. “That’s why everybody plays this game — I lied, that’s why a lot of people play this game — is to win a championship. Everybody here — is to win a championship. That’s all we lock in on; that’s all we’re focused on.

“Like we put so much energy towards winning and playing for one another that if we do this together, we get to celebrate this together, we’re like, I don’t know the word, itched, niched, we made our mark in history together forever, so we’re in that.”

Butler lost game 3 to the Nuggets but will get a chance to win again when the HEAT take on Nikola Jokic and his team again on Friday.
