Mustard Will Join Kendrick Lamar For “Pop Out” Show With Friends

“Not Like Us” is going to ring off with particular hype at Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming “Pop Out” show in Los Angeles on Juneteenth. Moreover, a big part of this is that Mustard recently announced that he will be in attendance at the concert at The Forum, which is an expected but still exciting first announced guest. We don’t know whether other folks that will make it to the “Ken & Friends” event will announce their participation beforehand or if it will mostly be a surprise. Either way, fans can’t wait to catch this live and feel the built-up energy from this Drake beef that this performance will take to a boiling point.

Furthermore, if you’re not in Los Angeles, no worries: there will be a livestream of Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” event via Amazon Prime and Twitch. As such, you can still see Mustard spin “Not Like Us,” and we’d guess that this is going to be a really fun moment for the song’s producer. After all, this is his most high-profile collaboration in a while, and the chance to celebrate the song’s achievements on a special holiday in his home city is a very heartening development. We can’t help but wonder what other friends will make an appearance…

Mustard Will “Pop Out” For Kendrick Lamar Show

Meanwhile, Mustard has some big moves of his own to look forward to very soon, including his recently announced upcoming new album Faith Of A Mustard Seed. With just a single track, it’s already been a massive year for him so far, so to see this full-length return in such a grandiose way is a very exciting move for 2024. Overall, there are a whole lot of reasons to be excited for this “Pop Out” show from Kendrick Lamar. But folks like ScHoolboy Q think that this represents something bigger for the West Coast this year, as it’s been one heck of a run for the region in the past few months.

“Heard it. sH*t go dumb. LA bout to do it again… LA up tHis year,” ScHoolboy Q tweeted about the new Mustard album, adding onto the hype around his own LP Blue Lips, the new Vince Staples album Dark Times, and so much more. Whether you’re K.Dot or another L.A. artist, you’ve got a lot to be proud of these days, and we’ll see how this continues to evolve throughout the year. Maybe this is going to really be the year of the West Coast when we look back at it. As long as we don’t start underrating all the other scenes, it’ll be a pretty fun time.

ScHoolboy Q Expresses Excitement For The Future Of LA Hip Hop

ScHoolboy Q is no stranger to commenting on the state of hip-hop. He often uses his Twitter account to talk about his excitement for upcoming projects. He did so earlier this year for Vince Staples’ recently released Dark Times before the project had even been announced. Now he’s once again expressing excitement, this time for the newly announced DJ Mustard project. The album is called Faith Of A Mustard Seed and doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it’s expected later this summer.

While sharing his excitement for the newly announced album Q also shouted out the entire Los Angeles hip hop scene. “Heard it. sH*t go dumb. LA bout to do it again… LA up tHis year” his tweet reads. While it is specifically referencing the Mustard album announcement it’s quote tweeting, there may be even more big LA artists gearing up to drop this year. Q’s label Top Dawg Entertainment is LA based and promised earlier this year that nearly everyone on their roster would be dropping new projects. That’s already come to fruition with Q, SiR, and Isaiah Rashad leading the way with their newest records. Check out his tweet about the state of LA rap in 2024 below.

Mustard Announces Fourth Studio Album ‘Faith of a Mustard Seed’

Mustard Announces Fourth Studio Album 'Faith of a Mustard Seed'

Grammy-winning producer and artist Mustard is making his highly anticipated return with his fourth studio album, Faith of a Mustard Seed, set to drop this summer. This marks a significant comeback for Mustard, who last released Perfect 10 five years ago, an album that featured major hits like “Pure Water” and “Ballin.” The announcement coincides with the 10th anniversary of his label, 10 Summers Records, adding to the celebratory moment.

Mustard’s recent achievements include his first No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” which garnered over 96 million streams in a week, setting a record for the most streamed song in that period.

In a one-minute and twenty-second teaser video release on Mustard’s birthday, fans are given a powerful preview of his upcoming album. The video opens with an iconic image of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and is set over a sermon with the line, “But Jesus said if you had faith the size of a mustard seed,” reflecting the album’s theme of faith and perseverance. The video offers intimate glimpses into Mustard’s life, featuring moments with his children, his fitness journey, dedicated studio sessions, and collaborations with artists like Travis Scott, Charlie Wilson, and Future.

The teaser also includes a nostalgic collage of childhood photos, birthday memories, and early DJ gigs, painting a comprehensive picture of Mustard’s journey. The video concludes with bold black and yellow text revealing the album’s name, Faith of a Mustard Seed. Fans can look forward to an inspiring and deeply personal project that encapsulates Mustard’s growth and dedication over the years.

Mustard Has The ‘Faith Of A Mustard Seed’ On His Upcoming Album, Which He Announced With A Beatific Trailer

In a recent Instagram Live stream, West Coast producer/multi-instrumentalist Terrace Martin expressed excitement for the new music coming from the region (particularly his native Los Angeles area), specifically citing Long Beach hitmaker Mustard’s upcoming album.

Mustard himself announced that album’s title and release window with a fittingly beatific trailer. It’s called Faith Of A Mustard Seed, and as befits any Mustard-related project, it’s slated for a summer 2024 release date. The title comes from the Christian Bible; the book of Matthew, chapter 17, verse 20 and 21, advises, “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to the mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you.”

The verse specifically refers to faith in the Christian God, but could easily be interpreted to mean radical self-belief, as well. Mustard’s faith in himself has served him well over the past decade, resulting in hit records for seemingly half the rap business and a Grammy nomination alongside Roddy Ricch for “Ballin’.” It’s still paying off, too; despite being over a decade into his career, Mustard recently received his first-ever Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 thanks to Kendrick Lamar’s Drake-dissing “Not Like Us.”

Mustard Unveils Album Trailer For Forthcoming LP “Faith Of A Mustard Seed”: Watch

Mustard has been pretty silent over the last couple of years. The last time we heard from him musically speaking was in 2022, when he made some beats for Vince Staples, Ty Dolla $ign and Lil Durk, as well as Quavo and Takeoff. In terms of albums, the California-born beat maker has not added anything since 2019’s Perfect Ten. That third LP boasted mega hits such as “Ballin’” with Roddy Ricch, “Pure Water” with the Migos, and “Baguettes in the Face” featuring NAV, Playboi Carti, and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie. However, things are going to be a whole different in 2024 for Mustard, as he will be dropping Faith Of A Mustard Seed very soon.

This news is hot off the presses, as an accompanying trailer has only been out for about an hour. According to HipHopNMore, the title was inspired by the Bible verse from Matthew 17:20. It essentially means that no matter how small an act of kindness you do for someone, the impacts can still be massive. This fourth studio album is obviously coming right off the heels of his explosive team-up with Kendrick Lamar. “Not Like Us” has become one of the biggest songs of the year overall for many reasons.

Mustard Is Reestablishing Himself With New Album

The number one song was the nail in the coffin in viral battle between Dot and Drake. It also features a killer and instantly memorable instrumental. There is a good chance this song never reaches the top of the charts without the accessible beat. Furthermore, it is also the song of the West Coast and possibly the summer with its incredible number of quotables. In the trailer above, many past collaborators and potential guests are peppered throughout. Travis Scott, Quavo, A Boogie, Lil Durk, Don Toliver, and more all appear.

What are your thoughts on the album trailer for Faith Of A Mustard Seed by Mustard? Will this be a top-tier producer album of 2024, why or why not? Do you think “Not Like Us” will land on the project? Who would you want to see on the album? Could you see the cameos making appearances? What aspect of the song did you enjoy the most? Is he the best new rapper out of Milwaukee? Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Mustard. YG Seemingly Responds To Drake’s “Family Matters” On New Single

YG was not involved in the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle. He was actually one of the few West Coast artists who didn’t step in with an opinion. The problem, he was directly referenced by name on the Drake diss “Family Matters.” The 6 God used the Compton rapper to discredit Lamar by claiming YG banged a set but Lamar didn’t. It was a relatively unimportant line, and one that saw YG get lumped in with other artists. No big deal, right? Well, it seems like the Compton rapper felt a way about it.

YG dropped a new single titled “Weird,” and in it he seemingly makes reference to the fact that he was, well, referenced. The lines he drops suggest that he didn’t care for Drake involving him in a battle that he had nothing to do with. Especially when it was battle with another West Coast artist. “When it’s smoke, don’t ever mention my name (mention my name),” he raps on the track. “You gon’ have me jeopardizin’ my fame, jeopardizin’ the gang, jeopardizin’ where you hang, n**ga.” The rapper doesn’t mention anybody by name, but it doesn’t take a lot of sleuthing to put the pieces together.

YG Calls Out Drake For Referencing Him In A Diss

YG and Drake have had a long collaborative history together. Drake appeared on the single “Who Do You Love?” from his 2014 debut, My Krazy Life. The single peaked at 54 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the second-biggest release from the album. YG and Drake teamed back up for “Why You Always Hatin?” in 2016, which peaked at number 62. YG also served as the opening act for the Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour, which took place the same year. As friendly as the two rappers have been over the years, YG’s bond with Kendrick Lamar supersedes it.

Both rappers hail from Compton, and rap about similar subject matter. YG praised Lamar as a rapper and as a collaborator during an MTV interview from over a decade ago. “It’s A-1 to be able to get somebody like that on my record,” he told the outlet. “I knew Kendrick before I blew up, he knew me before he blew up and be rocking with what I was doin’ and I been rocking with what they was doin’ so it’s all love and respect.” It’s also worth noting that Mustard, YG’s longtime friend and collaborator, produced K. Dot’s Drake diss and number one single, “Not Like Us.” The rapper was also going to side with the West.

Kendrick Lamar Scores His Fourth ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 No. 1 With ‘Not Like Us’

Kendrick Lamar’s vicious Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” debuts at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. The battle between the two stars spawned no fewer than four new diss tracks in the span of a weekend, including “6:16 AM In LA,” “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” and “The Heart Part 6,” but the Mustard-produced “Not Like Us” turned out to be the true fan favorite, soundtracking a slew of social media posts of clubs turning up and people C-walking to it (which… sigh).

As the dust settles from the two rappers’ increasingly vitriolic battle, its component songs comprise much of this week’s Billboard Hot 100 top ten. “Euphoria,” Kendrick’s initial volley in the fiery war of words, lands at No. 3, while “Like That,” the warning shot Kendrick issued by Kendrick on Future and Metro Boomin’s album, rose from No. 8 to No. 6. Drake’s “Family Matters” debuts at No. 7. You can see the full top ten below.

“Not Like Us” is now Kendrick Lamar’s fourth Hot 100 No. 1. His most recent foray to the top of the chart was a month ago with “Like That,” while his previous chart toppers were 2017’s “Humble” from DAMN. and his 2015 collaboration with Taylor Swift, “Bad Blood.” The full chart for this week goes online Tuesday, May 14.

Mustard Demands $10K From His Ex-Wife For Trying To See His Finances Amid Divorce

It’s been a difficult, contentious, and accountable past two years for hip-hop producer DJ Mustard, now simply known as Mustard. Moreover, he filed for divorce from his wife Chanel Thierry back in May of 2022, which quickly became a decidedly nasty process. Amid child support payment battles, airing out of other partners, and more, it hasn’t been pretty to witness. If you’re at all familiar with the blogosphere and sites like ours, then you most likely know a little bit about it already. Now, we have a new development in their legal split process, which saw the beatmaker demand $10K from his former wife.

Furthermore, according to a Radar Online report, this is based on Mustard’s accusation that Thierry tried to unrightfully access his finances. Apparently, she recently issued five subpoenas to his previous employers, looking for documents that were “not relevant” in the divorce. What’s more is that the L.A. artist claimed that these filings sought info from as far back as 2016, years before their marriage, that they already settled in a prenup. If you’re curious, the companies that she allegedly reached out to are Roc Nation, EMI, Live Music, Universal, and Sony.

Mustard Wants His Ex-Wife To Pay For Trying To Stretch Divorce Process Out

Still, you might be wondering why Chanel Thierry would want to look for this in the first place. This is because she allegedly wants to find out more information about Mustard’s income to fight for a larger amount in monthly child support payments in court. “She will use an abusive discovery strategy to cause this divorce to last longer than the entire length of the marriage,” he filed in court while asking that she pay for this wrongdoing with $10K. Despite legal authorities already resolving the child support issue, the 33-year-old maintains that Thierry is engaging in “an expansive, unnecessary, and expensive discovery campaign into the financial issues that have been resolved and/or are conclusively governed” by the prenup.

Meanwhile, his lawyer stated that he already paid the agreed child and spousal support amounts, both based on court rulings and the prenup. As such, they want the court to throw out these subpoenas and punish Thierry for trying to escalate and elongate this process through this action. It’s all very murky water, and unfortunately, it probably won’t get any clearer. To find out if it does, keep checking in with HNHH for more news and the latest updates on Mustard.

Jordan Ward & 6LACK Shine On A Tender & Nostalgic New Single, “MUSTARD”

Jordan Ward is one of the most exciting voices coming up across any genre, although to call him on the come-up sounds unfitting. After all, following cosigns from the likes of Tyler, The Creator and this new collab single with 6LACK, the 28-year-old is quickly establishing himself as a bright voice with star potential. Moreover, this new track “MUSTARD” highlights Ward’s penchant for sincere and subtle songwriting filled with detail on closer inspection. It’s an acoustic guitar-led cut with dry but warm percussion that’s a perfect soundtrack for a day around the park. Lyrically, though, it centers around rebirth and change, making for a sweetly melancholy song with a lot of emotive weight behind it.

What’s more is that the vocal embellishments throughout, like background vocals and ad-libs, add a lot of atmosphere to “MUSTARD.” Jordan Ward sings with a slightly pitched-up voice that fits its reflections on the past quite well, while 6LACK keeps his signature soulful drawl. However, even though the track might sound simple at first, a few elements reveal the fleshed-out structure beneath. For example, wavy and low-toned synthesizers close the track out, and more effect-heavy guitar chords accentuate the chorus. Overall, it’s all held together by a sticky and distinct vocal melody for the chorus that makes for one of the catchiest and most tender ones you’ll hear all week.

Mustard Ordered By Court To Pay $24K In Monthly Child Support Payments

A recent court decision ended up working out in Mustard’s favor when it comes to his child support battle with his ex Chanel Thierry. Moreover, Thierry sought for the producer and DJ to cough up $82,628 in monthly child support payments for their three children. However, according to court documents obtained by The Blast, he will only have to pay $24,500 each month, and other elements of the divorce process also panned to his benefit. For example, upon verifying the couple’s prenuptial agreements, the court ruled that he will keep many of his assets. These include his cars, house, properties, jewelry, and music royalties.

In addition, Thierry will not receive any further amounts in spousal support as part of their agreement. Instead, she received a one-time payment of $315,000 that is meant to cover what the support would’ve been. As far as other divided expenses, Thierry will pay for half of the children’s school and medical expenses, whereas Mustard will pay for their extracurricular endeavors. With these compromises in mind, it seems like the year-long process is finally wrapping up for the former couple.

Mustard Child Support Dispute Sees Resolution

Still, it doesn’t mean that all history vanished between the two, as they’ve addressed each other during all this. Furthermore, Thierry broke her silence concerning her and Mustard’s split shortly after they announced it. “Thank you for the kind words, thoughts, and prayers,” she wrote on Instagram. “Anyone that followed me or knows me personally knows my family means the world to me. I’ve [dedicated] 12 loyal years and it is more [than] heartbreaking to see things end.”

Meanwhile, she also seemingly addressed the producer being with a new girl by sharing a TikTok of Megan Thee Stallion on IG. “Anybody try to play with me, nine times out of ten, they’re gonna get their feelings hurt,” Meg says in the clip. “You wanna make me jealous? Not gonna work. I’m a bad b***h. Were you going after this? You tried to piss me off? Not gonna work. I’m naturally happy. Like, you don’t dictate my happiness. You know what I’m saying? I was happy before you got here. I’m gonna be happy when you leave. Like, I’m gonna still be me at the end of the day.” For more news and the latest updates on Mustard, stick around on HNHH.
