Chance The Rapper’s New Single “Stars Out” Leaves Fans With High Expectations For Upcoming Album

Chance The Rapper fans have been looking forward to a new project from the hitmaker for years now, and it finally looks like one is on the horizon. Earlier today, he unveiled his brand new single, “Stars Out.” The track arrived alongside a minimalistic accompanying music video, and so far, fans are impressed. It’s expected to appear on his upcoming album, Star Line Gallery, which he officially announced in April of this year.

Listeners sharing their reactions to the new single on social media, revealing that it’s given them high hopes for the rest of the album. “Stars Out” follows Chance’s single “Buried Alive,” which he also unleashed back in April. That similarly had fans looking forward to hearing what else he has to offer on his next LP, and anticipating a major comeback for the Chicago artist.

“Ok chance the rapper finally rapping again,” one fan says of the new track on Twitter. “I’m so ready for Chance The Rapper comeback,” someone else writes. Others are claiming that if “Stars Out” is anything like the rest of the album, he has a huge year ahead of him, and they can’t wait.

Star Line Gallery does not yet have an official release date, though he originally announced that it would drop in Spring of this year. It’s too late for that now, however, fans still expect it to arrive sometime in 2024. Hopefully, it’ll be released sooner rather than later.

Chloe Bailey Claims Her Music Is Only Labeled R&B Because Of Race

Chloe Bailey has been a star for most of her like. She broke out as half of the duo Chloe x Hailey in 2016, and scored major successes alongside her sister before going solo in 2021. Her debut album was praised by fans and critics alike, for its musical ambition and eclectic blend of sounds. Chloe Bailey was trying to defy easy categorization with her art, but she was repeatedly tagged with the label of R&B. She talked about this frustrating situation during a recent interview with Nylon.

Bailey told the outlet that her R&B categorization stems from the color of her skin, and not her sound. “Any music I do will easily and quickly be categorized as R&B because I’m a Black woman,” she noted. “If someone who didn’t have my skin tone made the same music, it would be in the pop categories. That’s just the way it’s always been in life.” The desire to break out of genre constraints is something Bailey has sought to do more as she’s gotten older. She’s found chart success, and now she’s seeking out artistic success on her own terms. Bailey cited two of the singers who managed to shed the R&B label, and one of them, unsurprisingly, is her mentor.

Chloe Bailey loved Beyonce’s album Cowboy Carter. She had a front row seat to Beyonce’s transformation, given that she signed to the icon’s label in 2016. She was still surprised by what she heard in terms of genre experimentation. “I was really proud of Beyonce doing Cowboy Carter,” she asserted. “Because Black people originated country music. It’s just showing that possibilities are endless.” Bailey also mentioned Whitney Houston as a Black, female singer who proved that true crossover success is attainable.

The singer isn’t going for Houston’s pop or Beyonce’s country on her new album, though. Chloe Bailey told Nylon that she’s seeking to carve her own genre and musical path. One inspired by the sounds she has heard in the Caribbean. The outlet cites “calypso, gospel, Afrobeats, and Carnival band music” in the upcoming album, which is titled Trouble In Paradise. Bailey concurs. She also described an overarching theme to the album. “[It’s a] coming-of-age celebration of being a woman and having fun,” she stated. “Not taking life too seriously.” We can’t wait to hear it.

Spotify Launches New Plan in U.S. For a Dollar Less That Entirely Exclude Audiobooks

Screen Shot 2024 06 21 at 1.42.34 PM

Spotify has introduced a new subscription plan, Basic, priced at $10.99 per month, offering a $1 discount for users who don’t need audiobook access. Take that, inflation!

Check this out, this single-user plan provides ad-free access to millions of songs and podcast episodes but excludes the audiobook feature available in the regular Premium Individual plan, which costs $11.99 per month.

Spotify explained this one who dollar drop in price stating, “Enjoy the music streaming benefits of your Premium plan without the monthly audiobook listening time,” when announcing the Basic tier. In contrast, the higher-priced premium plans include 15 hours of audiobook listening time monthly from a catalog of over 250,000 titles.

Get this, the basic plan’s launch follows recent price increases for most of Spotify’s existing plans. The Individual plan rose by $1 to $11.99 per month, the Family plan went up by $3 to $19.99 per month, and the Premium Duo plan increased by $2 to $16.99 per month.

Oh but wait, additionally, Spotify offers an audiobooks-only plan for $9.99 per month, providing 15 hours of audiobook listening time.

The new Audiobooks Access tier, introduced on March 1, allows Spotify to pay lower music-licensing rates for bundled plans. This follows a 2022 settlement between the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA) and streaming services, which includes a carveout for bundles like Amazon Prime and Apple Music + Apple News.

Don’t get too excited because last week, the NMPA filed a complaint with the FTC against Spotify, arguing that these music-and-audiobook bundles will reduce mechanical royalty payments to songwriters and artists by $150 million annually. Spotify acknowledges that the bundles allow for lower royalty rates but maintains that overall earnings for creators will continue to rise.

Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Megan’ Tracklist Features Victoria Monét, UGK, And Even A Snake Reference In Japanese

Megan Thee Stallion’s new album, Megan, is one day closer. Today, the Houston hottie shared the tracklist, revealing that the project will be 18 tracks long, with features from past collaborator GloRilla, Brooklyn drill rapper Kyle Ricch, R&B hitmaker Victoria Monét, Texas royalty UGK, and Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba. The snake motif that has unfurled over the past year continues, with “Boa,” “Cobra,” and “Hiss” joined by “Rattle” and “Mamushi,” which is the Japanese word for “snake.”

As usual, Megan’s love for Japanese anime shines through, as well, with a track titled “Otaku Hot Girl” borrowing the Japanese term for “fans” or “nerds,” which was co-opted by American anime fans to refer to themselves. Meg recently updated the cover of the album in response to fans’ lukewarm reception of the original, butterfly-themed cover. She went back to her snake theme, using a photo of herself emerging from a giant egg covered in slime.

During the tour promoting the album, Hot Girl Summer, Thee Stallion proved many of her haters wrong in saying she isn’t an arena artist, hanging out with WNBA stars like Angel Reese and Brittney Griner, and found herself upgraded to headliner on festivals like Lollapalooza and Outside Lands after Tyler The Creator dropped out.

Megan is out 6/28 via Hot Girl Productions LLC. Find out more information here.

Chance The Rapper Pulls The ‘Stars Out’ On His Celebratory New ‘Star Line’ Single

Chance The Rapper’s comeback trail continues with “Stars Out,” the latest single from Star Line, the follow-up to the Chicago rapper’s debut album, The Big Day. While previous singles “Buried Alive” and “Together” were heady, introspective songs about Chance’s efforts to rebuild his confidence and take care of his family after his first album underperformed, “Stars Out” is more celebratory, with Chance in more of a party mode, pulling out his Rolls-Royce Phantom to flex for a night on the town. However, Chano’s serpentine lyricism is still on full display, with rapid-fire punchlines peppering a jazzy instrumental.

Although it’s getting a little late in the year for Chance to hit his intended release window of spring 2024, Chance has probably earned himself a little grace with his confident singles. He also deserves a little after experiencing some upheaval in his personal life; in April, it was revealed he and his wife Kirsten Corley had agreed to a divorce after a trial separation — a decision that definitely prompted some soul-searching for the noted wife guy. Now that he’s recalibrated his identity to account for the loss, though, he’s got the release of Star Line to look forward to — and so do we, the fans.

Kendrick Lamar & Dave Free Appear To Be On Good Terms At “The Pop Out”

Earlier this week, Kendrick Lamar hosted his eagerly anticipated “Pop Out” event in LA, joined by several of his celebrity friends. YG, Tyler, The Creator, Jay Rock, and many more made appearances. Dr. Dre even joined Kendrick onstage and kicked off “Not Like Us,” one of the defining tracks of the hitmaker’s viral feud with Drake.

On top of the various peers who performed, many were also spotted in the crowd, cheering Kendrick on throughout the historic show. Of course, Dave Free was also in attendance, proving that he’s still on solid terms with Kendrick. For those who don’t recall, Drake accused Free of fathering a child with Kendrick’s fiancee Whitney Alford on “Family Matters.”

Dave Free Joins Kendrick Lamar At LA Show

Clearly, those allegations don’t appear to be true, as both Free and Alford were seen at the show. In fact, Alford even brought along her two children with Kendrick. He was later seen making his exit alongside Free. This seemingly goes to show that Drizzy’s wild claims didn’t get in the way of their bond. The clip arrives shortly after fans noticed that Kendrick put Free at the very top of the credits after his “Pop Out,” which many thought was a direct jab at Drake.

Either way, Drake’s supporters are continuing to make jokes about the claims he made about Free and Alford. One of Drizzy’s biggest fans, DJ Akademiks, even Tweeted that neither of them showed up for the show as it was unfolding. He later deleted the post, though other users had already captured his false claims in a screenshot. Megan Thee Stallion Shares Exciting New Details Of Upcoming Album

“ITS OFFICIALLY 1 WEEK UNTIL THEE ALBUM ‘MEGAN’ IS OUT,” she captioned her post. “Which song you claiming hotties ?” As expected, the tracklist also features various references to snakes. It includes song titles like “Mamushi,” which means snake in Japanese, “Rattle,” and more. Fans are certainly more eager than ever to get their hands on Meg’s upcoming LP, which so far, sounds like it’ll be a hit. She previewed one of her unreleased tracks earlier this month with a twerk-filled tour bus video, and while the song doesn’t have a name yet, they can’t wait for the full version.

Meg’s latest announcement also follows the unveiling of the project’s cover art, which sparked a bit of controversy and confusion. The original album cover shows Meg hanging halfway out of a Chrysalis and didn’t sit right with many. She later unveiled an alternate version, in which she was seen climbing out of an egg. This version was much closer to the cover that popped up on streaming services last week, which appears to be the official pick. 50 Cent’s Twitter Hacker Makes $720K In Minutes With Crypto Scam

Earlier today, 50 Cent’s Twitter/X account published various Tweets about a new meme coin called “$GUNIT.” According to him, however, he had been hacked. He took to Instagram shortly after to clear things up, revealing that whoever was behind the hack made $720K in only half an hour. “My Twitter was hacked I have no association with this Crypto. Twitter worked quickly to lock my account back down. Who ever did made $720,000 in 30 minutes,” he wrote. The mogul also shared screenshots of various Tweets from fans who had previously suspected he was hacked.

Fif’s comments section is now flooded with fans expressing shock over the apparent rug pull, or claiming that they were suspicious of the hacker’s Tweets the second they saw them. “People fell for it and lost money smh,” one Instagram user says. “720 bands in a half hour is cr*zyy,” someone else writes.

50 Cent Clears Things Up

Others are urging fellow users to be cautious of scams like this in the future and to always do research before investing in Crypto. After all, this is far from the first time something like this has happened. Last month, for example, Rich The Kid’s Twitter account was also hacked. Similarly, the hacker promoted a cryptocurrency scheme and ended up scamming fans out of a lot of money.

In response to the hack, Rich The Kid ended up announcing that he’d be launching a token that would surely “go to the moon.” It’s unclear whether or not Fif plans to do the same, though for now, it appears he’s just focused on getting his Twitter account back. What do you think of 50 Cent’s Twitter account getting hacked today? What about the hacker making $720K in minutes by launching a meme coin? ASAP Rocky Apparently Gave His Long-Awaited Album ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ An Official Release Date Following His Paris Fashion Show

Way back in December 2022, ASAP Rocky announced the title of his long-awaited fourth studio album: Don’t Be Dumb. However, as recently as last July, there was still no official sign of the album’s release despite the then-recent releases of singles like “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n)”,” “DMB,” and “Same Problems.”

But Rocky’s longsuffering fans have finally been given a release date, which the rapper apparently announced at the conclusion of his Paris Fashion Week show for AWGE “American Sabotage,” where he previewed music from the album. Don’t Be Dumb is now due on August 30, with a pre-save link going live right after the show. Rocky also shared the link to the American Sabotage collection, which features box sets of the album with merch like T-shirts, hats, and hoodies alongside CDs of the album.

Although it has been over six years since the release of Rocky’s last album Testing, the Harlemite has plenty of good reasons for the delays. In April 2022, he was arrested on suspicion of a 2021 assault in which he allegedly shot a former member of his ASAP Mob crew. Meanwhile, in more positive news for the fashionable rapper, he and girlfriend Rihanna had two children together, Riot and RZA. Even though he’s still awaiting trial, it looks like Rocky has more to look forward to than not, and now, so do his fans.

Don’t Be Dumb is due on 8/30 via ASAP Worldwide, Polo Grounds, RCA. You can find more info here.

Rema And Shalipoppi Salute Their Shared Hometown In The Opulent ‘Benin Boys’ Video

Nigerian stars Rema and Shalipoppi put on for their hometown with an opulent video for their new single “Benin Boys.” Shot at various local landmarks — including Rema’s old school — the video puts Benin (and the boys’ love it) on display, with scenes shot at a local club, closeups of historical artifacts, and shots of the Benin sky as bats, a local fixture, fly overhead. The two stars flash money, drink expensive shots, and board a private jet, making the most of their recent successes.

Rema, who concluded 2023 with the Ice Spice collaboration “Pretty Girl,” has an even bigger 2024 in the offing, with headlining performances planned for Afro Nation’s festivals in Detroit and Portugal coming up. Although Rema has not announced a new album yet, the release of “Benin Boys” suggests that a new one could be on the way imminently.

The time is certainly right for a follow-up to Rema’s 2022 debut album, Rave & Roses, which featured the breakout hit “Calm Down” and “FYN.” It reached No. 2 on the US Billboard World Albums chart, and hit No. 81 on the Billboard 200. Shallipopi, meanwhile, just released his third album, Shakespopi, in April, supported by singles “ASAP,” “Cast,” and “Wet On Me.”
