This week the rap diva has been calling out blogs for false stories, something that’s been problematic throughout her career. On Tuesday (June 27) her Instagram Story lit up with another noteworthy message. This one was about the recently freed Carlishia Hood and her 14-year-old son.

The pair were facing charges in the death of Jeremy Brown. However, prosecutors have since dropped them and been hit with a lawsuit from Mrs. Hood. Many have been weighing in on the controversial situation, in which Carlishia’s teenage son likely saved her life while she was being brutally attacked. In her IG post, Minaj commended the young man for his actions and even extended an incredibly generous offer. “That 14-year-old boy that backed [that] hammer out when that grown a** man was punching his mother in the face as if she were a MAN is a true hero,” she wrote this afternoon.

YNW Melly Scores Small Victory In Court Today

The YNW Melly court drama has captivated rap fans everywhere. While there have been plenty of difficult moments for Melly so far he scored a small victory in court today. Yesterday morning, his lawyer’s motion for a mistrial was shot down by the judge. But this morning it was a different legal process decision that actually worked out in favor of Melly. According to legal analyst Terri Austin, whose been following the trial, the judge ruled that the prosecution committed a discovery violation. The prosecution failed to disclose a second forensics report meaning that information will now be excluded from being used as evidence in the trial.

It’s the first real good news to come out of the trial for Melly in a few days. Last week, during the trial’s fourth day Melly scored a similar victory when more evidence was ruled ineligible. Snapchat memories were deemed prejudicial due to the presumptions that could be made about Melly by the presence of money and firearms in the videos. What’s been much more interesting for fans following the trial though, are its viral moments.

Most recently, a video that made it look like Melly was leaving the courtroom right in the middle of the trial. That followed attention-grabbing moments like Melly blowing a kiss to cameras on the way out of court. Easily the most viral clip from the trial so far has been one of his attorney’s notebooks. The fact that the notebook read “Evil Plans And Stuff” had fans absolutely buzzing and comparing Melly’s whole legal team to supervillains.

YNW Melly’s newfound attention hasn’t just come from fans interested in the courtroom. In the weeks since his trial started, he has seen a massive increase in streaming. On Spotify alone, he’s seen an increase in monthly listeners by over 800k across the last few weeks. Fans with a darker sense of humor have pointed out the increase in streams for Melly’s biggest hit “Murder On My Mind.” The song is rapidly approaching becoming his first with 1 billion streams on Spotify. 14 Year Old Rapper Lil Tuda Shot & Killed In Chicago

A 14-year-old rapper who performs under the name Lil Tuda was shot and killed in Chicago over the weekend. He and another boy were both shot on Saturday with the other boy remaining in critical condition. According to HipHopDx Lil Tuda, whose real name is Timothy Lockhart was shot in the head at 4:45 p.m. and pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital shortly after. Community activist Andrew Holmes described the event as a tragedy, drawing particular note to the fact that it occurred over the Juneteenth weekend.

Holmes further called for Lil Tuda’s killers to be brought to justice. “Father’s Day, Juneteenth, celebrating for what? Until we can stop this gun violence, Black-on-Black crime, and get these individuals in custody, then talk to me. But, we got two babies, two babies here.” A tweet made later by the 16th And 17th District Chicago Police Scanner clarified some of Lil Tuda’s alleged gang affiliations. The tweet described him as “a self proclaimed rapper and member of the DMG (Dirty Money Gang), a set of Gangster Disciples and Black P Stones.”

Back in April another Chicago rapper, Lil Ronald was shot and killed. Ronald was also just 14 years old at the time of the shooting. Back in 2021, Chief Keef collaborator Edai was also shot and killed in Chicago. The city’s most high-profile case in recent years was that of FBG Duck. He was shopping in luxury stores when a group of men pulled up in two vehicles and shot at Duck and two other men.

Anytime a shooting happens in the drill scene fans are often reminded of Pop Smoke’s tragic slaying. Smoke was staying in a rented house in Hollywood Hills when multiple men broke into the house to commit a robbery. The incident turned deadly when the 20-year-old Pop Smoke was shot and ultimately declared dead. YNW Juvy’s Father Says Money Dispute Could Have Been A Motive For YNW Melly

The father of one of YNW Melly’s alleged victims, YNW Juvy, has shared what he believes to be the motive for Melly’s alleged double-murder. Melly, along with YNW Bortlen, are accused of murdering Christopher “Juvy” Thomas Jr., and Anthony “Sakchaser” Williams in 2018. Christopher Thomas Sr. told Law & Crime that he believes the motive could have been a money dispute involving the YNW brand. According to him, the men were planning to sell YNW for “marketing and licensing.” “Melly was gonna get $200,000, [Sakchaser] was gonna get $200,000, [Juvy] was gonna get $100,000,” he claims. The father believes that Melly wanted a bigger cut of the money than what was agreed upon.

“From day one, I believed that Melly was responsible for my son’s death on October 26,” he also said. He later claims that Melly’s “demeanor” and “body language” has him convinced of his guilt. “When I finally talked to [Melly] and Cortlen on FaceTime, their response and how they reacted — they showed no remorse. They didn’t act like they was grievin,’ like they lost a best friend or nothin’,” he also revealed, “in my opinion, they were in the best spirits. They never came to town, never came to my son’s funeral.”

Father Of Alleged Victim Says He Believed Melly Was Guilty “From Day One”

The alleged victim’s father also noted that, “[Melly’s] defense attorney got him wearin’ turtle necks to hide his neck, ’cause he got ‘Jamell’ tatted on his neck — that’s Sak mom’s name. And he got Chris name and Sak name.” “These are best friends … he couldn’t even stop and pay his condolences to his best friend’s mom,” he explained, “I have no words for that guy.”

Juvy’s father has also previously spoken out against those showing public support to Melly amid the trial. “Y’all are b*tches, man,” he said. He even called out rapper Boosie Badazz for publicly supporting Melly. “Boosie down there supporting Melly — he flaw as f*ck for that,” he said, “He don’t even know that n***a Melly. He talking ’bout, ‘I want Melly free ’cause that n***a bought me snacks and a magazine at the airport.’ What?”

The double murder trial of YNW Melly is looking bleak online for those who want to see the rapper walk away. Moreover, this is because social media clips of his behavior, including blowing kisses and his lawyer’s suggestive notebook, have people thinking that it looks ridiculous. However, none of those aspects actually translate into the court of law, and on the fourth day of his trial on Thursday (June 15), he and his team actually heard some good news. Furthermore, these reports come from Law & Crime Network correspondent Bryson “Boom” Paul, who has been consistently covering this trial with frequent updates via his social media accounts.

“Judge John Murphy III denies the Prosecutor’s use of @Snapchat memories in the next witness testimony due to the presence of a firearm and cash in one of the videos,” the reporter tweeted. “‘Prejudicial,’ he says.” For those unaware, “prejudicial” means that it would be evidence that would cause an inherent bias against the defendant without actually being evidence that contributes to the matters of fact in the case. Meanwhile, Juvy’s mother recalled how she walked out of the courtroom when the 24-year-old accused murderer blew kisses during session. “He did it a couple of times.. that wasn’t his first time,” Leondra Phillips said, calling his displays “disrespectful. I walked out. What you praying for? You sitting there like you ain’t got no remorse. Like, every time I walk in, you smiling. This ain’t the same for that. This is sad, this case is serious.”

Lil Durk has voiced his support for YNW Melly amid the rapper’s ongoing double murder trial. In a post on his Instagram Story, Tuesday, Durk shared a picture of Melly in the courtroom with the caption, “Free @YNWMelly.” The two rappers have previously collaborated with Lil Baby on the 2021 track, “Take Kare.”

Melly’s double murder trial kicked off on Monday, after the rapper spent the last four years in jail. If found guilty of first-degree murder, Melly may end up facing the death penalty.

They have no reason for why he would do this because there is no reason. And if there’s no reason, it doesn’t make sense.”

Prosecutors Allege Fredo Bang Picked Up YNW Melly After Murders Of YNW Juvy & YNW SakChaser

Broward County Prosecutor Kristine Bradley claimed that Fredo Bang (Fredrick Givens) picked up YNW Melly after he murdered YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. In addressing the court on Monday during the first day of Melly’s double murder trial, Bradley explained that Melly sent Bang a pin of his location.

“What you’re also going to find out, is that while Mr. Demons (Melly) is out there on the side of the road at four in the morning, 4:42 specifically, he sends a drop pin– a digital homing beacon to his current location, to one of his friends, Fredrick Givens,” Bradley began.

She continued: “Fredrick Givens is also involved in the music industry. And he [Melly] asked to be picked up. Fredrick Givens then, about 11 minutes later, is sent another drop pin where Mr. Demons has moved a couple of meters. YNW Melly’s Team Argues An IG User Admitted To Murders Of YNW Juvy & YNW SakChaser

YNW Melly’s legal team argued that a man named, Robert Cobert, admitted to the killings of YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser on Instagram after their deaths during the first day of the rapper’s trial on Monday. Defense attorney David A. Howard said that Cobert’s only defense was that he sold the IG account for $20 and doesn’t remember to whom.

Howard claims that the Instagram account in question posted the message, “Lol we killed two of your (friends).” He then argued that it took seven months before authorities questioned Cobert because they already had their minds made up on Melly.

As for the defense’s opening statement, Howard admitted that determining a motive isn’t necessary to convict Melly based on Florida law. However, he suggested the jury consider it when assessing whether his client would kill two men he considered “best friends.”

YNW Melly’s Jury Selection Continues As Murder Trial Looms

Jury selection for the upcoming murder trial of YNW Melly has begun in Florida. The rapper faces the death penalty after being booked for two counts of first-degree murder in February 2019. After the jury is finalized, opening statements will begin shortly afterward.

Experts expect the selection process to be lengthy as Melly faces the death penalty if convicted. Broward Circuit Judge John Murphy recently sided with the state prosecutors’ motion to follow a new statute in the state that allows juries to recommend a death sentence with an 8-4 vote. In the past, jurors had to be unanimous on the decision.

In the four years since Melly’s initial arrest, he and his mother have provided updates on his case on social media. Earlier this year, his mom shared a heartfelt letter he penned from behind bars. “Hey ma, damn y’all made my night my whole month,” Melly wrote with hearts. “So glad I seen y’all. I hope y’all seen me. I know y’all did right when you went screamin ‘I SEE HIM’ they made you leave. [annoyed face] I’m so glad I seen you ma! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Tell Grandma & Silas I love them and appreciate them so much. It was good to see them as well.”

Jam Master Jay: Third Man Arrested In The Shooting Case Of Run-DMC Legend

It’s been over 20 years since the tragic death of Run DMC legend Jam Master Jay, born Jason William Mizell. The case has gone unsolved, although there have been several arrests in recent years. This week, the New York Times reports that a third individual has been taken into custody in relation to the shooting. Police charged Queens resident, Jay Bryant, 49, with murder while engaged in narcotics trafficking, in addition to other drug-related charges. His attorney, César de Castro, pleaded not guilty on behalf of his client to the latest charges. However, Bryant has been in police custody on unrelated drug charges.

Jam Master Jay was shot and killed at the age of 37 in a recording studio in Jamaica, Queens. In the arrest of Jay Bryant, prosecutors alleged that he was spotted, along with two other men, entering the building where the studio was moments before the legendary Run DMC star was shot in the head. Additionally, law officials claim that clothing with Bryant’s DNA was identified at the crime scene. However, de Castro insisted that proving Bryant’s guilt will be difficult during trial. “Securing an indictment in a secret grand jury, applying an extremely low burden of proof, is one thing,” he said. “Proving it at trial is another matter.”

Third Arrest In Jam Master Jay’s Arrest

The arrest of Jay Bryant comes three years after police apprehended two other individuals in connection to his death. Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington were charged with a similar charge of murder while drug trafficking. However, NBC News reports that Bryant allegedly claimed to be the shooter. Still, there are doubts about the supposed admission, according to a detention memo. Instead, they believe that the evidence introduced at the upcoming trial will indicate that Jordan Jr. shot twice from close range.

Following the 2020 indictment of Washington and Jordan Jr., the office of the prosecutors stated that the murder of Jam Master Jay was related to a “previous acquisition of 10 kilograms of cocaine.” They claimed that Washington, Jordan, and “other co-conspirators” was supposed to distribute the cocaine in Maryland. “Mizell had recently informed Washington that the defendant would not be involved in distributing the narcotics in Maryland, which precipitated the murder conspiracy,” prosecutors said.
