KA$HDAMI Takes Listeners To A Brief “Oasis” On New LP

KA$HDAMI is rapper who takes influence from the recent wave of melodic rap that has been prevalent for the last several years. Highly popularized by artists like Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Don Toliver, Juice WRLD, and more, their drawn-out melodies and what make the sound so entrancing. While the Las Vegas, Nevada native draws some inspiration from them to some degree he does put his own spin on it. In the same breath though, he is still looking to fully separate himself from those names as he further develops it. KA$HDAMI is doing that on his latest project oasis.

This is the 20-year-old’s first LP since 2022’s WORLD DAMINATION. That saw him work with midwxst, XLOVCLO, NoCap, and more. According to Genius, the first hint that KA$HDAMI gave that this album was in the works actually was about one year ago exactly. However, it would be quite awhile before the hype around oasis would come back.

Listen To Oasis By KA$HDAMI

Its lead single, “Games,” would not drop until late October. Then, only one more track would be put out before its eventual release in late February. That song would be “Want!” KA$HDAMI brings some internet rap tropes into some of the tracks such as random sound effects like a Semtex grenade getting ready to explode from the Call Of Duty video games. That charm goes a long way to make this tape a little more interesting. One of the things that drags the listening experience down is how short the songs are. Most of them are only a minute and change, unfortunately.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, oasis, by KA$HDAMI? Is this his best project ever, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Who had the strongest feature performance and why? Does he deserve more recognition as an artist overall? Ghetts Has Tons Of Inspirational Messages Across “On Purpose, With Purpose”

Ghetts is here to deliver his long-awaited album On Purpose, With Purpose. The project had its rollout begin in the latter half of last year with a slew of singles. “Laps” with Moonchild Sanelly kicked things off on October 20. Then, the UK rapper would go on to release four more tracks over the next five months.

The last and only track we were able to sink our teeth into was “Double Standards” with Sampha. It was a great listen and tracks like this one show the intent behind On Purpose, With Purpose. In an interview with Apple Music, Ghetts shared some of the themes that are woven into the record. “To anyone who feels like they’re being overlooked, don’t have conversations with people about ‘It should be you.’ No, it shouldn’t. Don’t download the virus.”

Ghetts continues passionately, “‘It should be you’ is a virus if you take that upon yourself, you’re going to put out this energy of [being] underrated-now you become that. Your time comes when it’s meant to.” That powerful but honest message is very similar to the title of this LP. Ghetts is conveying to the listener that success happens when you move with a sense of purpose and go about things the right way, you will get your shine.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, On Purpose, With Purpose, by Ghetts? Is this his best project ever, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Meek Mill Drops New EP “Heathenism”

Philly native Meek Mill has made a return to the hip-hop scene with his latest project, the five-track EP titled Heathenism. It was independently released via his Dreamchasers label. The EP, which arrived earlier today, showcases Meek’s signature gritty lyricism and relentless energy across a series of hard-hitting tracks. The project kicks off with “Came From The Bottom,” a motivational anthem that sets the tone for the EP with its triumphant message. Meek delivers rapid-fire verses over pulsating beats, demonstrating his prowess as one of rap’s most dynamic artists. The momentum continues with tracks like “Times Like This,” featuring a collaboration with Fivio Foreign, and “Whatever I Want,” where Meek flexes his lyrical prowess over infectious production.

Moreover, one of the standout moments on Heathenism comes with “Big Boy,” a piano-laced banger that showcases Meek’s introspective side as he reflects on his journey to success. Moreover, the EP concludes with the highly anticipated collaboration with Future, titled “Giving Chanel,” adding an extra layer of star power to the project. However, Meek’s return to the spotlight comes amidst controversy. Just yesterday, the rapper found himself embroiled in online conversations following allegations made in a lawsuit against Diddy.

Chevy Woods Takes A Time Machine Back To “1998” On His New Album

Chevy Woods has mostly been tied to Wiz Khalifa for the duration of his career. The two have collaborated many times before and it makes sense seeing as he is a Taylor Gang signee. The veteran MC is someone you go to for laid back raps and he is doing more of the same on his latest effort. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania spitter recently came by with his fourth project since the start of the 2020 decade. Chevy Woods’ 1998 is a concise 13-song listen with a handful of features.

If you take a peek at the tracklist, you will notice the titles evoke a certain time period. Sports fans were certainly pick up on the fact that these tracks call back to the time in which Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls would go on to win their last championship. It was also the end of their second three peat proving that even on wearier legs Jordan and the gang were able to succeed.

Someone who has consistently impressed us with their recent output has been Erick the Architect. EARTHGANG & Spillage Village Deliver 5-Song EP “ROBOPHOBIA”

Back in November 2023, experimentative rap duo EARTHGANG gave us a first look at the type of direction their next project would take. That path is one of funk, soul, R&B, with some of their hip-hop knowledge thrown in for good measure. On Instagram earlier this month they shared this message. “Robophobia is a sonic dive into a new terrain for @EarthGang as we explore new soundscapes and topics on imperfections, connections and projections within humanity’s relationship with each other and AI.” “BLACKLIGHT” was the introductory track for the now-released tape.

EARTHGANG’s ROBOPHOBIA is also a bit of sequel for the Atlanta natives. Back in September of last year, they worked their extended rap collective Spillage Village to bring a five-track EP, RIP Human Art. These two projects do share some commonalities both thematically and curation wise. As for the latter, this latest entry in the EARTHGANG vs The Algorithm series is also five tracks.

Listen To ROBOPHOBIA By EARTHGANG & Spillage Village

For the themes both are centering around technology, imperfections, and our relationship with AI. Which makes sense considering their outlook they mentioned earlier. All in all it is a very solid EP on both the writing and production fronts. It all sounds futuristic, vibey, and fun all at the same time.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, ROBOPHOBIA, by EARTHGANG and Spillage Village? Do you like this sonic direction for the duo, why or why not?
