Bktherula Levels Up On “LVL5 P2”

Atlanta, Georgia rapper and singer Bktherula is one of the most fun and intriguing voices in the trap scene period. In a landscape where predictability is more and more common nowadays, she definitely goes against the grain. It is great to see that, especially for the short amount of time she has been in the game. 2019 was the year she released her first single and from there, she continues to show steady growth. Bktherula’s off-kilter style and flows may not be everyone’s taste, but at least she is bringing some fresh ideas to the table on LVL5 P2.

If that title looks familiar to you, that is because this new album is a sequel to LVL5 P1, which saw its release in 2023. The P1 and P2, according to the press release, stand for player one and player two. Bktherula is big gaming fan and we can certainly see it. Some of the beats she chooses sound like they would fit right at home in a space exploration video game.

They complement her dreamy voice to a tee on songs like “FEATHERS,” “JUST MAKE SURE,” and “WISHUWASDACREW.” There are also a pair of impressive guests here, with JID and Cash Cobain. JID just continues to prove that he can mold his delivery to any instrumental on “WOMAN.” As for Cobain, his production style evolves again on the provocative “SHAKIN IT.” He manages to sample the popular TikTok track “Let Go” by Ark Patrol and Veronikka Redd. Bktherula is showing on LVL5 P2 that she is a voice that you need to continue to keep your ears on.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, LVL5 P2, by Bktherula? Was this record worth the wait for you so far, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward right now and why? Tierra Whack Showcases Her Impressive Range “WORLD WIDE WHACK”

For about seven years, fans have come to know Tierra Whack as the cooky, colorful, and happy-go-lucky personality in hip-hop. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native definitely embraces it, especially when it comes to her writing, music videos, outfits, and her flows. Almost everything she does comes across as original, and nearly never derivative. While Tierra Whack is still showcasing her wild side on her new project, WORLD WIDE WHACK, she also peeling back some extra layers. It is definitely a great idea to explore, especially on your official debut album.

Yes, after all this time, we finally have it, even though she did drop an LP back in 2018 with Whack World. In our opinion though, Tierra had a lot of unfinished ideas on that tape. Part of the reason for that was due to the scant runtimes of each track. However, WORLD WIDE WHACK takes a deeper dive into her what makes her tick.

Listen To WORLD WIDE WHACK By Tierra Whack

What you will find is more personal cuts about anxiety, numbness, sui***e, drugs, love, and more. We got a hint that Tierra would be going in a slightly different direction after the “27 CLUB” single. Definitely the total opposite of the other teasers “CHANEL PIT” and “SHOWER SONG.” Even though a song like “27 CLUB” is so dark, she manages to add some body and character to them. Whack applies her eccentric deliveries and production styles that still fit the colorless and emotional moments that make WORLD WIDE WHACK familiar but different.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, WORLD WIDE WHACK, by Tierra Whack? Was this record worth the wait for you so far, why or why not? Blu & Shafiq Husayn Drop Off A Hazy Three-Pack With Their “Roll Up” EP

Blu, one of the most talented rappers when it comes to both flow and writing, is back with a new trio of cuts for us. 2024 has proven to be a busy one already, as the Los Angeles California artist has dropped a single, an EP, and a collaborative album. Going back to that EP for a second, that was also a team effort. He worked with producer Shafiq Husayn to bring along We Bang. Similar to Blu and Shafiq’s newest set of tracks, Roll Up, We Bang included three recordings as well.

According to Blu and Nature Sounds’ Instagram accounts, both of these small care packages will be a part of something larger. “Blu and Shafiq Husayn are now announcing Out Of The Blue, a new album set for release on March 29th.” This will mark their second tape together, going back to the 2018 mixtape The Blueprint. While “We Bang” was the lead single, that drop also had its instrumental and “Brains Blue” paired with it.

“Roll Up” does the same thing, as Blu and Shafiq have given us “Very Amazing” too. The first of the two is very chill with excellent rhymes from Blu over a bassy beat. “Very Amazing” is a different vibe, as the instrumental is more scattered and unorthodox. Be sure to check out the tracks above.

Lil Peep’s Estate Shares Three Recordings On New EP “HATE ME”

Even after Lil Peep’s tragic passing back in November of 2017, the fans have continued to show immense support. A huge reason for this is because of the rapper’s mother Liza Womack. She had a sweet message for the undying supporters when she helped rollout the original version of Come Over When You’re Sober , Pt. 2. “I encourage Gus’s fans to enjoy the music that Gus created, listened to, and loved.” It was clear that they had a beautiful and loving mother/son relationship and it makes it all the more saddening that he is still not with us today.

To help carry on the spirit of Lil Peep, his team has just put out a short project called HATE ME. It is an EP with three tracks, all recorded back in October of 2016. For context, that is when Peep released his first two projects, crybaby and HELLBOY. According to Genius, these recordings were pushed by First Access Entertainment, a UK-founded company that has its subsidiary label called Access Records.

Apparently, they wanted Lil Peep to go more radio-friendly and mainstream with these tracks. But, they encouraged him to keep the same lyrical content we are used to hearing from the emo rap legend. It features two “og versions” for “Spotlight” and “Hate Me.” The first of the two was a track with EDM superstar Marshmello, while the latter was on Come Over When You’re Sober , Pt. 2.

Iann Dior Showcases Some Solid Singing Chops On EP “BLIND”

Iann Dior burst onto the scene back at the start of the 2020’s with he and 24kGoldn’s smash hit “Mood.” The song is over 1.8 billion (!) streams since its release in 2021. While the young Puerto Rican artist still has a respectable 11 million plus monthlies on the platform, the hype around him does not feel as strong as it once did. It seems artists like him and 24k had their massive hit and then people left them behind sort of. However, iann dior is still churning out some solid material if you were not aware, like his new EP BLIND.

This six-song project quickly follows up his 2023 album leave me where you found me. Iann Dior is still rocking the pop punk, emo rap style that he became known for. However, BLIND is more of a foray into the pop sound than anything else. Its lead single “House On Fire” is a terrific start to the tape that climaxes instrumentally around the 2:00 mark.

In the press release for iann’s newest effort, the “Blind Intro” gives away the tape’s meaning and overall message. “They say we hide things that we’re scared to see, maybe you were that for me.” Most of the tracks here are about relationships and the other usual topics we have heard from him in years past. Even, though the lyrical evolution is not as substantial as some would probably like, iann has some great tracks here.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, BLIND, by iann dior? Is this his best project ever, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Erika De Casier Drops A Whole Vibe With “Still”

Multi-cultural R&B singer Erika de Casier is an extremely underrated artist in the R&B space. She has a serene and entrancing voice that can fit over pretty much any instrumental you throw her way. Born in Portugal to a Belgian mother, the soon-to-be 25-year-old artist is back with a new project that sees her attack that very challenge. Still is Erika de Casier’s first record since 2021’s Sensational.

She got this project out in late February, but we still wanted to give it a listen. We are sure glad we did, as there are plenty of fun and beautiful songs that add so much diversity to the tracklist. Speaking of which, there are 14 cuts to be heard on this one, making it her longest to date. Features include They Hate Change, Shygirl, and Blood Orange.
