Consequence Returns After 13 Years With “Nice Doing Business With You”

Consequence was hyping up Nice Doing Business With You in April of 2022, labeling it as essentially a perfect summer album. “I’m looking forward to people being able to ride out for the spring and the summer”, he told AllHipHop. Not too long after that, the New York veteran would go on to release its stacked lead single “Blood Stain”. Featuring production from Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Ojivolta, and 88 Keys, it was (and still is) a tremendous track and one that embodies Consequence’s trademark jazzy/soulful style.

However, despite a few loose singles, it seemed like Nice Doing Business With You was going to be shelved. But hope was restored in the summer of this year with another Ye collab, “No Apologies”, and “Overdose” with YNW Melly. The latter might seem unlikely, however, according to Hot 97, this cut was also in the works for a while. Consequence says it went something like, “He literally was just like, ‘Yo, I got you OG yeah,’ wrote the s***. He just was on some, ‘Yo, yeah I got you, Unc,’ type s***. So, he ain’t do nothing but respect me…Then literally the next week I think is when that s*** started cooking with the case… So I think this might be the last feature he did”. Overall, we are just happy to have ‘Quence back and we are even more ecstatic that the quality is high even with a 13-year gap in between albums.

KILLY Goes Back To The Basics With “LIFE I CHOSE”

We feel that KILLY operates at his highest level when he’s tackling dark and grand instrumentals. It feels like every time we discuss a new release, we bring up his K3 EP from last year. But we feel it’s necessary because it contains some of his most potent cuts. He was rapping over some truly haunting, almost gothic and alien-like trap beats with “Same Energy” and “Cut Em Off” being some prime examples. However, after that mini project, we felt that KILLY was sort of losing some steam. “LIFE I CHOSE” with Dom Corleo and “POP 2” with Fourfive came across as some of his more generic releases. Those cuts, along with “FR33ZING” and “REAPER”, land on the latest effort from KILLY, LIFE I CHOSE.

The latter duo we just mentioned were slight improvements, but nothing compared to some of the others on this 15-song tracklist. KILLY’s seventh project has a pretty strong start with “POISON”, which sounds like you are about to enter a war alongside him thanks to the epic horns laced into the beat. “AGILITY” keeps the momentum going with a glitchy melodic rap instrumental, which then transitions into a guitar riffing outro. Their may be some HARDSTONE PSYCHO inspiration on it, but it works still. As for the rest of LIFE I CHOSE, there are plenty more enjoyable moments like “HUH HUH”, “BLACK OPS”, and “GRAVITY”. It may not be consistent in terms of quality, but KILLY does sound confident overall, as we feel he’s back in the realm of rap where he can dominate at times.

Tommy Richman Unloads Debut Album “COYOTE” After Breakout Summer

Tommy Richman has been making music since 2019, but he broke out in 2024, thanks almost exclusively to his hit single “MILLION DOLLAR BABY.” The track, which was officially released in April but had floated around as a snippet for months before, found life as background music on many TikToks and Instagram Reels. Richman’s song went beyond viral, becoming inescapable during the summer months. “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, though it didn’t climb to the top spot because of the success of Kendrick Lamar’s anthemic “Not Like Us” and Post Malone’s collaboration with Morgan Wallen, “I Had Some Help.” Regardless, it was a massive coming-out party for Tommy Richman, who signed to Brent Faiyaz’s record label in 2023.

Thanks to the success of “MILLION DOLLAR BABY,” Tommy Richman dropped his official debut album, COYOTE, with a lot of hype behind it. The R&B singer/occasional rapper has an old-school approach to his music, which has endeared him to younger and older fans alike. Old funk music clearly inspired him, coming out with a project that blends that sound with more modern instincts. The result is music that’s very easy to listen to, and it’s not hard to see why Richman went so viral this year. Notably, “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” and its follow-up “DEVIL IS A LIE” are absent from the tracklist, so it will be interesting to see how Richman’s album performs without his two biggest tracks to date being added. Stream the debut offering from one of 2024’s breakout stars below.

DaBaby Returns With “HOW TF IS THIS A MIXTAPE?” After Two Years

After a 2024 that’s seen him drop a number of freestyles and the singles “Did It” and “Can’t Keep Keisha” on September 20, DaBaby is back with a new mixtape, his first project of the year and his first since 2022’s Baby On Baby 2. HOW TF IS THIS A MIXTAPE? suggests that the rapper, real name Jonathan Kirk, views this as a release on par with album-quality work. He is in his element. The production is 808-heavy, and he flows over the tracks, seldom deviating from what brought DaBaby to the dance. The 14-track, 33-minute mixtape has no featured artists on it. Recent efforts by DaBaby have rarely had features, so he’s keeping things consistent in that regard.

DaBaby’s new mixtape features plenty of production credits from Sean Da Firzt and KayoTheWizard. Although, there is also an appearance from former GOOD Music (via Very Good Beats) producer Charlie Heat. After a controversial period where DaBaby alienated many listeners with a homophobic tirade at Rolling Loud Miami in 2021 (a rant that also led to Top 40 radio stations across the US to pull his remix of Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” from their rotation), the former superstar has had to start from scratch. DaBaby has a dedicated, though smaller fanbase, one who continues to anticipate upcoming releases from the Charlotte rapper. He is surely grateful for their support, especially as he continues to battle legal issues and other difficulties. Stream the new release from DaBaby below.

Moneybagg Yo Returns With Hard-Hitting Deluxe Album “Speak Now Or”

Moneybagg Yo is unrelenting. The rapper has a rapid fire flow that manages to keep pace with the extremely hard-hitting instrumentals he chooses. Speak Now was a showcase of this talent. Moneybagg Yo’s fifth album managed to keep up the energy despite its lengthy tracklist, thanks to varied features like Morgan Wallen, Chris Brown and Lil Durk. Moneybagg is back to build on the solid foundations of his latest album. Speak Now Or, the deluxe version of his June release, features seven brand new songs. Longtime fans are going to be pleased.

Speak Now Or is not an instance of songs being tacked onto the end, either. Moneybagg Yo completely switches up the tracklist and rearranges songs. The result is an album that plays very different than its predecessor, and for the better. One could argue that the album starts off even stronger thanks to the one-two punch of new songs “SUM TO HATE ON” and “RAP N****S.” The latter is particularly catchy thanks to its bouncy instrumental and earworm flow. Moneybagg also has fun rapping with Bossman Dlow on the stylish banger “OUTTA TOWN.” There’s also “ON GOD,” which sounds absolutely epic thanks to its faint, horn-accented beat and ominous piano keys.

Kay Flock Feeds Fans From Behind Bars With “Make America Flock Again” EP

Kay Flock has been making waves within the New York drill scene for the last three years or so. He’s got multiple hits in his brief but still growing catalog to show for it. Songs like “PSA”, “Is Ya Ready”, and “Being Honest” are all RIAA Gold-certified. You can’t also forget about “Not In The Mood” with Fivio Foreign and “Shake It” with Cardi B, Dougie B, and Bory300 either. Sadly, though, his run has sort of been clipped by his run-ins with the law. For quite some time now, Kay Flock has been behind bars on charges of racketeering, murder, attempted murder, and more. He’s been updating his fans on his progress while in custody, but there’s a chance he could be locked up for good.

His legal team has tried to get him out on bail, offering up $1.4 million and to go through house arrest instead. However, it seems like prosecutors are going to move forward with a trial. Reports in late February pointed to a possible start date of sometime in September. So far, though, there haven’t been any updates. What we can tell you, however, is that Kay Flock is back with new music. It comes in the form of a five-track EP featuring a slew of NY talent. Make America Flock Again sees him work with past collaborators such as Lil Tjay on the fine opener “Fed Up”, as well others like AC Zoe, B-Lovee, and more.

Cardo Got Wings Celebrates His Phenomenal 2024 With New Project “MADeMAN”

Cardo Got Wings has been having an exceptional 2024 for a few reasons. Firstly, he has been working on a new project with Playboi Carti and as it turns out, he is a big driver behind the new sound. Secondly, he was the producer on Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” which was a massive shot at Drake that sparked one of the wildest beefs of all-time. With that being said, Cardo has been working on his solo music, and today, he dropped off a new album called MADeMAN.

Overall, this album contains 14 tracks in which Cardo delivers production while also spitting his own bars. The new project contains features from the likes of Seafood Sam, Payroll Giovanni, Kamaiyah, and even Larry June. The production is smooth with some elements of funk that really help set a vibe. There is a distinct sound all throughout the tape, and if you like Cardo’s style, then you are going to enjoy this project. Not to mention, his rapping is sensational and he does well holding his own against his guests.

Blu & Exile Reassert Themselves With “Love (the) Ominous World”

There aren’t many better than Blu & Exile when it comes to underground hip-hop tandems. Or is there really any above them? That is a question that you may want to pose to yourself after listening to their newest project. That’s right, this weekend, Blu & Exile are here with Love (the) Ominous World, their latest collaborative record as a group. This is their fourth one to be exact, and it’s their first since 2020’s Miles. Heading into this Friday, the multi-hyphenates had given fans two songs to chew on before dropping off the other 10.

The grand and celebratory closer “Love Is Blu”, and the head-nodding West Coast bop that is “Gold” led things off terrifically. Some of the songs on this album really see Blu at his most braggadocious. “Undisputed” is perhaps the most obvious one of the bunch, and it’s also one of the best here. On top of great rapping, Exile is also giving you quality in the instrumental department. From great disc scratching to bumping drum patterns and everything in between, he’s really giving you his peak self. Overall, it’s a fantastic return for Blu & Exile as a pairing and we highly encourage you give it a try.

The Alchemist Continues His Prolific 2024 With “The Genuine Articulate”

At this point, there really isn’t much more to say about the career of The Alchemist. The California producer and rapper has become one of the most impactful beatmakers of this generation. He’s always had the secret sauce that a lot of others have tried to recreate at a similar level. However, Uncle Al manages to stand above the rest even decades in. 2024 has been another one of those nonstop years for him, as he has been lending his skills to multiple other artists. Big Sean, A$AP Rocky and J. Cole, Big Hit and Hit-Boy, and Oh No and Gangrene, are just a few names to list off. Sadly, we aren’t able to include Eminem after fans were left astray after the trailer for the Expanded Mourner’s Edition included an Al cameo.

We are going to continue to pray for that to happen, but for now, we have another new tape to discuss. For The Genuine Articulate, The Alchemist is putting himself in the spotlight. This just one of a few times where he’s providing bars on every cut. In this case, it’s for a trim eight-song, 22:30-long tape. The album is led by “Ferraris in The Rain”, which features ScHoolboy Q. However, the fellow West Coast native isn’t the only guest here. Action Bronson, Big Body Bes, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Conway the Machine, and Larry Lune can be heard as well. Give the project a spin with the links below.

Lil Tecca Digs Into His Melodic Bag On New Album “PLAN A”

Lil Tecca has a deceptively smooth delivery. The rapper has a naturally hooky flow that makes everything he says sound slick. It’s the reason he’s been able to sidestep the one hit wonder allegations and churn out a respectable career since his breakout in 2019. PLAN A may not yield any smash hits on the level of “Ransom,” but it’s an incredibly catchy batch of songs. Lil Tecca wastes absolutely no time showcasing all of his talents on the album opener, “TASTE.” The beat is funky and seductive, while his normal voice gets underpinned by pitched up backing vocals.

Things get a bit harder on the album cuts “120” and “I CAN’T LET GO.” The latter boasts an impressive feature turn from another melody man, Don Toliver. Truthfully, though, PLAN A is at its best when Tecca is focusing on making earworm pop rap. “24HRS” sees Lil Tecca slather his vocals in Autotune with an absolutely hypnotic instrumental accompanying him. “NUMBER 2” is another sing-songy highlight, with the rapper’s flow melding perfectly with the mechanical beat. “NEVER LAST” is arguably the smoothest Lil Tecca has ever sounded on record. PLAN A is a bit long, but the brevity of each track makes it easy to pick out the highlights and keep it moving.

Let us know what you think of this brand-new album, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We’ll continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.
