Social media went into a frenzy yesterday after the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast was released. A clip of the show’s hosts immediately went viral as they shared their thoughts on Michael B. Jordan’s heated exchange with podcaster Lore’l. The actor-director called out his former schoolmate during a red carpet interview for allegedly calling him corny back in 2021. While Melyssa Ford, Ice, Ish, Parks, and Queenz Flip all chimed in on the matter, it was Joe Budden’s comments that sent people over the edge.
In episode 606, Budden barks on Michael B. Jordan for how he treated Lore’l during their run-in. “You[‘ve] probably never been more visible than you are right this second, and that’s what you do to her,” he expresses. Other tweeters called him out for his abusive relationship with model ex-girlfriend Tahiry Jose. @Relly_95 tweets: “Joe Budden calling Michael B Jordan Corny for how he reacted to the girl who took shots at him when he was younger is hilarious considering man [gave] Tahiry two black eyes.” Joe’s former lover aired him out and shared her assault stories in a 2020 interview with Hollywood Unlocked.
Irregardless, Joe continues to stand on his statement, asking people to back off in a recent Instagram Story. In it, Budden writes: “If any other Black multimillionaire embarrassed a woman working on a red carpet cuz she thought he was corny in 7th grade y’all would call him a lot more than corny.” Lore’l has since denied calling Michael B. Jordan corny, admitting it was her podcast cohost Dominique Da Diva. The two were discussing his past relationship with socialite Lori Harvey when she said, “We all know the nice, corny guys treat you the best.”

Joe Budden wasn’t a big fan of Michael B. Jordan’s passive-aggressive interaction with Lore’l on the red carpet for Creed III. Despite being a major milestone in Jordan’s career as both the director and star of the film, he didn’t hesitate to confront Lore’l for allegedly calling him corny. Though it was later disproven that she never referred to him as such, Jordan’s brief comment didn’t derail the interview entirely and Lore’l handled the entire situation with grace and professionalism.
During the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Budden stated that Jordan came across as corny for going at Lore’l. His reaction, particularly, felt extremely exaggerated for the circumstances. “And if I bring back them white girl rumors, then it’s gonna sound even crazier!” Budden said. “‘Cause why you talking to our sisters like that on the red carpet?” This triggered a flurry of responses from fans who pointed out Budden’s alleged treatment of Black women in the past.
After the Internet piled on with their own critique of Joe, the podcast host dismissed the noise on social media. Budden hit Instagram where he responded to the backlash, doubling down on his claims against Michael B. Jordan. He explained that if it was any other person besides Jordan, people wouldn’t have the same energy. “If any other Black millionaire embarrassed a woman on a red carpet cuz she thought he was corny in the 7th grade, y’all would call him a lot more than corny,” he wrote in response to the criticism.
Ultimately, he pushed back against the attempts to “cancel” him over his assessment of Michael B. Jordan. As an individual who has been targeted by cancel culture in the past, he explained that it’s difficult to strip him of a platform that he owns. “Also I work for me & im not firing myself. MBJ was on hand in front of Funko Hollywood on Hollywood Blvs and received his star. The ceremony featured speeches from collaborators Ryan Coogler and Jonathan Majors. Speaking with ET’s Nischelle Turner, Jordan spoke about how important the moment was for him.
“My emotions are actually all over the place, I’m seeing so many people that I want to kind of get to and hug and connect with and show my appreciation,” Jordan said. “I want to give the love right back, you know? But then I’m also just taking a moment to just to be like, ‘Damn. OK, wow, that happened. I’m here!’”
He added, “I didn’t think it would hit me this much, but as it all started to come together and we start to see it and reality starts to set in, the importance [and] the weight of the moment… you really realize it.”

Creed III is just days away. Slated to release in theaters on March 3, the movie’s recent developments have all been promising. Along with hinting at a continued “Creedverse” for more movies, the film’s star Micheal B. Jordan’s currently on quite a press run. At the movie’s premiere, Michael B. partook in a petty conversation with a reporter who used to call him corny in high school. After that delivered headlines on its own, Jordan then took part in a racy photoshoot for Calvin Klein. You know what they say, all press is good press.
With all this going on, though, one of the most intriguing storylines for Creed III is its soundtrack. Tasked to craft original songs for the movie, J. Cole’s Dreamville label delivered two promotional singles already. The first of these singles was “Ma Boy,” performed by Lute and JID. Next came “Blood, Sweat & Tears.” Released on Feb. 22, the song features Dreamville’s Bas along with Kel-P and Black Sherif. The two latter artists are Nigerian and Ghanian, respectively. Over the Afrobeat-inspired track, the trio deliver strong verses and smooth harmonies. And, in a new video released by Dreamville, the movie’s star actor and director seems to agree.
On Wednesday (March 1), Dreamville posted a clip of behind-the-scenes footage in the studio. Joined by Michael B. Jordan, Bas plays a portion of “Blood, Sweat & Tears.” Clearly enjoying what he is hearing, Jordan interjects with some positive comments. “It’s giving, like, end credit vibes too, you know what I’m sayin’? It’s hard,” he said. He later added how African themes influenced the third act of the Creed III movie. It seems that the Bas track will be a perfect inclusion in the film in this case, considering two African artists worked with Bas on the song.
Earlier this week, Dreamville announced that their annual Dreamville Fest takes place on April 1 & 2. With J. Cole, Drake, Usher, JID, Summer Walker, GloRilla, and more slated to perform, it could be the best festival they’ve hosted to date. Bas is set to perform on Sunday (April 2) at the fest, as he could likely already have an album out by then. Either way, it seems that Bas, Michael B. Jordan and Lore’l attended school together in Newark, New Jersey, which was confirmed by the two during their chance meeting last week. Once the podcaster brought up their Chad Science Academy alma mater, the actor goes on to question her about calling him corny in a 2021 chat. Now, Budden is going viral for his opinions on the exchange, which was a topic of discussion on his popular show.
After the mention of Michael B. In a new clip, the lead host of The Undressing Room Podcast confirms that is was actually her co-host, personality Dominique Da Diva, who made the choice words. While discussing Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey’s past, Dominque said “You know what I really think deep down inside? I think that Michael B. “And the things people are saying to me, like they hope I get raped and killed and popped in my head,” she added. “I just think like, if you were upset ’cause you said that I called him corny and those are the things that you’re rebuttling with, it’s like, the crime and the punishment—if that’s what you thought I said—it doesn’t even match up. How is that okay?” Lore’l also doesn’t understand why people continue pushing the false narrative after an explanation was given.
The former rapper said she told the story of her school days with Jordan as a light-hearted tale. “FYI, we went to school together for one year, so the narrative that I bullied him all throughout high school…this was seventh grade. We were like, 12 years old. Everybody made fun of each other. I would get joked on because of my complexion, and I went to a predominantly Black school, so it’s like, ‘White girl!’ We made fun of each other. That was school, that was one year. Again, I never bullied him. That just sounds outrageous to me.”
