MESSIAH! Gets Contemplative On Latest Album “The Villain Wins”

MESSIAH!, an up-and-coming artist from Charlotte, North Carolina, dropped his third album, the villain wins, on August 2. MESSIAH! has enjoyed some success this year. Along with MAVI and ovrkast, he performed the track “Silent Heel” for On The Radar Radio. In July, he returned to the YouTube channel to freestyle. He proved himself as a lyricist, which he continues to do on his newest album. His words cut deep, and he provides listeners with the type of soul-baring introspection that his peers also specialize in. the villain wins features appearances from Niontay, Malaya, Vayda, and the aforementioned MAVI, a close collaborator. MAVI appeared on MESSIAH!’s previous albums as well, becoming a part of his story as a developing rapper.

The production is similar to what rappers like MAVI, Navy Blue, or Redveil are known for rapping over. Several people handled the beats, including Angelo LeRoi and ovrkast, the latter of whom has also worked with Earl Sweatshirt. Opener “my eyes!!” is a dark track that sounds like something that Earl himself would rap on, with MESSIAH! detailing how his struggles have forced him to grow up. The Malaya-featuring “burden of truth” feels a lot like something that would’ve been at home on an early Slum Village album. That contrast makes MESSIAH! unique, and his skill set will only continue to develop. At 25 minutes, the villain wins does not overstay its welcome, either. It’s personal, smooth, and engaging, making MESSIAH! an artist that hip-hop fans should keep an eye on. Especially if you’re a fan of any rappers previously mentioned. You can stream the villain wins below.

MESSIAH! Brings Out “Our Daily Bread” With MAVI & Surf Gang Ahead Of New Album

Underground rappers MESSIAH! and MAVI, are both Charlotte natives and are also criminally underrated. Each artist possesses adept songwriting skills, and that ability was on full display not too long ago. To be exact, May 24 was the day that they collaborated with Ovrkast. for “silent heel”. It was MESSIAH!’s first single in about three years and it is also a lead-off record. Yes, after 24 months or so, the North Carolina MC will be dropping a new album. According to Attack The Culture, the villain wins! will hit streaming platforms on July 26. So far, it seems that “our daily bread” is one of four promotional tracks from MESSIAH!

The others include “burden of truth” featuring Malaya, and “can’t stand it!!”, which is a solo cut. Overall, MESSIAH! has been very impressive throughout this album rollout. Our current favorite so far is still “silent heel”, as the personal storytelling and messages about addiction, mental health, in addition to going for your dreams. On “our daily bread”, MESSIAH! and MAVI are getting more braggadocious about their work ethics and one point even trade verses in rapid succession. The track’s production is overseen by the rising label known as Surf Gang. Harrrrisonnnn is the credited beat maker here and he brings a simple and slightly dark environment to the table. MESSIAH!, MAVI, & Ovrkast. Collab On Soothing Single “Silent Heel”

Underground lo-fi rapper MESSIAH(!) has created something truly special with MAVI and Ovrkast on “silent heel”. This is the latest offering from the Charlotte, North Carolina native, who has been quite silent. In fact, this is his first release since his short 2022 solo album PERFECT 7 which featured seven cuts. But it seems that MESSIAH! has been reinvigorated to some degree with “silent heel” out.

As we mentioned, MAVI and Ovrkast. appear here, and the former is a frequent collaborator and fellow Charlotte native. Ovrkast. is best known for his beat making abilities, but he also provides some bars here. He opens up the lowkey cut with a verse that seems to be about a friend who is dealing with a severe drug addiction. Then, MESSIAH! comes through next and delivers a similarly impressive performance.
